Try another USB port

try updating your computer with the USB drivers. and try setting your phone to USB debugging mode. and dont forget to mount ofcourse.

Yup I already tried those and nothing.

dial *2767*3855#, backup your storage first coz it'll wipe out everything.

What will that accomplish besides erasing all my data?

[Q] I am stuck in infinite boot, please help.

I was running on cognition and I decided to apply a speed kernal. I did, but I was not aware that it wasn't compatible with froyo. Now my phone shows the AT&T thing, says some weird techno voice thing, then restarts the process. I have tried holding volume up and volume down and power in order to get to recovery menu and it doesn't work. I have tried syncing with my computer, but it wasn't set on debugging beforehand so odin does not recognize it. I have tried everything I can think of yet to no avail.(spelling?) I really like my captivate and I could not bear to part from it. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried using ADB to get into download mode. The only way to fix this will be to reflash stock and start over. You could also use Odin one click to flash back to stock as I dont thing debugging needs to be on for the download mode to work

Do not panic, did you pull the battery when the voices were going, that was voodoo installing and is normal.
You can recover and will

I did pull the battery during that time. I tried using Odin, but it doesn't recognize my phone. I think it is something I am doing wrong however.
The voices were normal.
List what you are doing to try to use odin. Need to know what your doing to identify a mistake.

I have tried getting into recovery again, but it goes through the cycle no matter what.
First: I downloaded the USB drivers from the Samsung Website and installed them.
Second: I downloaded Odin once click
Third: I take the battery out of my phone along with the sim card and micro SD card. Then I replace the battery
Fourth: Open Odin and plug in the USB sync cord
Fifth: I hold down the volume up and volume down buttons on the phone an insert the USB sync cord.
Sixth: A droid is pictured sweeping inside of a yellow triangle.
Seventh: I wait
Then after that, Odin doesn't recognize the phone.
Are you using the original cord that came with phone? Are you using a desktop or laptop? have you tried different usb ports? Have you tried the drivers on the odin thread?

I got it off ebay and it did not come with a cord. I bought one off ebay that claimed to be OEM. I am using a laptop. I will try different USB ports but I dont think that is the problem. My computer recognizes the phone, just not Odin. I will try the drivers on the thread.

USB not working

Well I flashed phoenix unleashed yesterday coming from firefly 2.8. Did everything step by step like I always do like using odin to flash to stock... well anyways after I flashed phoenix unleashed 8.0 I plugged the usb in to mount the sd well it froze on me as soon as I did that and now I can't mount it or get it to recognize with odin in download mode. Win 7 just says unknown device even though I have the drivers installed and have reinstalled em several times. I just can't get it to mount or have odin recognize it. Am I stuck with this rom? Help please.
I had the same thing happen to me, it was recognized while booted but the download mode driver went to crap. UnInstalled, rebooted, installed, rebooted still nothing, went through that cycle a couple times, finally I just restored my pc from an earlier restore point (i create one about once a week) that did the trick.
But you don't need a computer to flash a different rom, boot to recovery wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache, and flash rom like normal, so you aren't STUCK with that rom...

Could just be a bad flash. I suggest that if you like this ROM to reflash it and see if that fixes it. If not, just do as Stud suggested and flash another one. You can dl most of them OTA from their xda tread.
*Also don't forget to clear data/cache/dalvik*
Ok thanks to both of you for a speedy reply will try to flash that way. I was stuck thinking I had to flash using the this is how you flash guide. Well thanks !

I just went through a few post and seems like other ppl had your problem, did you flash while your usb was plugged in? If so that would be why. You have to disconnect the phone before flashing
I would still recommend getting your phone seen by odin, in case you have a bad flash/soft brick and the only option you have is a jig and odin. Try different usb ports, cables, and different computers.
Yea I flashed with the usb cable disconnected. And tried it on another computer and nothing
Usb worked the first time I tried with this rom I tranfered a movie to it and after it transferred it froze. The movie plays fine on it but it froze windows explorer and hasn't worked since than.
ok just went into recovery did wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache. also downloaded firefly 2.7 through sgs tools and flashed it. still a no go on usb connectivity...
Ok i got it to mount and can access the storage on the phone but when i go into download mode my computer says it cannot recognize the device. geez this is frustrating. odin recognizes it while the phone is not in download mode but that does me no good since it has to be in download mode to work.

Have you tried a different port? Also, (re)download the drivers and reset ur comp.
If that doesnt work than idk what to suggest anymore. It could just be that the port on your phone is dead but wouldnt make any sense if you can mount and charge.

yea thats what im thinking. Only way i got it to mount was to uninstall the drivers go into safe mode and manually delete all the samsung driver entries in regedit. Which driver is used for download mode?
Ok get this. I did a fresh install of win 7 64-bit loaded the usb drivers for it and all the usb ports are 2.0 except for one 3.0 on the front. Tried connecting to all of the usb ports on the back of the computer still get the usb device not recognized. Tried the three in the front same thing. The only way my computer can see the device is through my Logitech g-15 keyboard usb ports which are 1.0. Its weird! I can mount it with those ports but wont connect in download mode again.
ok i found the problem. Was a bad stock mini usb cable. Used my brothers mini usb cable connected to the back of my pc and it recognized my phone right away even in download mode. Flashed back to stock and flashed pheonixultimate. runs great!
To be clear, it was the cable that came with the phone(also used to charge from walk charger)?

thats correct!
I was looking on Samsung website awhile back,a and several people were having problems with that cable not working as a data cable.
I just had the same kinda issue yesterday.what I ended up havin to do,was reinstall the drivers on my laptop.then with the phone powered off, hold vol up and down at the same time, just like you're tryin to put it in download mode.once in download mode, the computer installed the drivers.but you have to do it after you reinstall the new drivers again.cuz the new drivers recognize your phone as a new device.I think it only installed two drivers when I did it.but it was enough to solve my problem.hope this helps.but who knows.I might be stupid and it wont help you at all.it helped me though

Ive had problems before with connecting USB to my comp. Every time I would try to transfer files to or from my sd to computer windows explorer would freeze and I would have to unplug.
What fixed it for me was installing .NET 4 framework in windows.

Possible usb brick... Need help solving it

Hey everything has been fine until today when i noticed my computer is unable to recognize the usb connection with my galaxy note.... everything seems so strange and sudden as it worked before and i havent changed anything within last days......thinking its a possible glitch ... i checked on other pc.... same effect... changed usb wire... same.... even odin doesnt recognize it in download mode im so confused.... is there anyone able help me solve this problem...? Why would my phone suddenly become usb bricked without any changes to rom ? how to fix this issue... ?
please help me im really upset today cuz of that
the phone can be charged but thats all... no usb connection with computer.... both in download mode as in system
Was going to suggest that you cleaned the usb connection, but your phone charges ok so it should be alright. Try re-installing the drivers & restart your pc, they may of somehow been corrupted. Worth a try.

I did faced the same problem as well. But i did succeed to repair of it.
Im not sure this method will work for you or not but you can give it a try.
Dont use usb mode to connect with your pc or laptop. Try to use mtp mode to connect. Thus pc will try to reinstalled the related driver as needed. Please uncheck debugging mode as well.
Good luck mate.

[HELP]I cannot connect my phone with KIES

I can connect the phone to Kies. I reinstalled Kies, I wiped cache, rebooted the PC nothing. I tried many times connect / disconnect data cable.
What else can I do?
PS:Any advice is welcome, and if the topic is not open in the appropriate area, can a moderator to move it.
Thank you very much
What's the exact error?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda premium
There is an actual error but does not connect after about two or three minutes of testing.
Kies returns to the main screen as if I just opened Kies program.
I'll post and some printscreens ...
LE: Checked in Developer Options, Enable USB Debugging and Mock Locations.
As I know you can't use Kies with USB debuging ON (I see you are rooted, and you are sure turn that option ON). Turn it off and retry.
I tried it, same result.
I finished all options in trying to connect the phone to Kies.
Suggestions?

Hm, I just unchecked USB debuging, and mock location. Kies recognise my phone, I was thinking it will not.
Try this. Connect phone with USB and pull down notification bar. Tap on USB connection notification under that brightness bar. And check MTP - first option.
I tried this version without any result. I'm tired of trying to connect Kies software.
Another question, can i backup the phone without Kies?
if u have a partition on SD ,u'll face such probs!!
try unmounting SD

Use ThunderZap, enter recovery. You get backup there, start it - wait about 8-10 minutes to be done. Only bad thing is that you can't restore data on some other ROM.
No results.
It may posible i have uninstalled any application that may be connected with connecting to Kies? But I can access phone card and cable.

I've never really experienced connecting my device to the PC won't work. Sorry.
Just buy an OTG cable and put the ROM in a USB and plug it to the OTG cable so you will be able to install the ROM. If you successfully installed the ROM try connecting your device to the PC again.
