I have a TN Ty II that was locked to the Orange UK network. I succesfully unlocked it and it has been working fine on T-Mobile(Virgin) PAYG for about 4 months. Now it will not receive or make calls, but signal on T-Mobile is fine, connects to the netork, no problem. If I insert an Orange PAYG Sim the phone works fine (In/Out). Virgin have said that maybe my number is "Black Listed" and that they would send me a new SimCard with the same number!! Seems strange if my number is BlackListed. My question is When a network provider provides a customer with a phone do they log the phones IMS number? Could they then stop that phone working on other networks, or request that other networks block the phone with that IMS?
Any help appreciated.

Hi everyone. I have been doing a tonne of reading trying to figure out a couple of things for my Treo 750.
It is a Rogers phone for which I paid an online service provider to unlock. I am using my FIDO SIM in it without any problems.
It says I am always roaming and although assurances from FIDO I won't be charged Roaming fees, it gets kind of annoying everytime I check my email that it tells me I am roaming and asks if I am sure I want to do this....
So, I understand there is carrier specific info in the carrier.pxp file. I am told the Rogers network code is in this file.
Am I able to edit this to include the FIDO network code 302370 so the phone doesn't think it is always roaming?
Would it be better to unbrand / unlock the phone to WM6.1 via the methods I see here in the forums? [dubLeE's method].
Thanks everyone,
Ryan
It has nothing to do with your phone. It's the fact you are using the Fido GSM card on a Rogers network. It has nothing to do with whether your phone is locked or unlocked, and changing the carrier code won't do anything.
To disable the roaming network check when you check email, from Outlook Mobile go to Tools -> Options, choose the email account you've setup, then go to Send/Receive Schedule -> Advanced Settings -> check "Use automatic send / receive schedule when roaming"
Hi number16. Thanks for the reply.
The "Use automatic send / receive schedule when roaming" doesn't seem to prevent the "You are currently roaming. Synchronizing may result in additional charges" dialog box when the schedule is set to manual. In fact, the checkbox is greyed out and not selectable with a manual schedule. Even with an automated schedule configured, you are still prompted when doing a manual send/receive.
I was thinking that if the phone was configured such that it thought its' home network carrier code was the FIDO code, it wouldn't consider me roaming.
Anyways, sounds like I am stuck with it. Thanks again for the info
I have the exact same problem with my work Exchange email on a Rogers Touch Diamond. The roaming has to be defined by the ROM or registry. When I put my Fido SIM in a Rogers Samsung Jack flashed with the Fido ROM, there is no issue with roaming.
Hi there,
Same issue here, I am using my unlocked Treo 750 from Rogers on Bell network.
It works fine, except for the roaming issue.
How to get rid of that triangle icon on the top?
Were you able to edit the carrierDB.pxp file?
Please help.
Did you change your network settings over to the correct settings for the network of the SIM card you are using?
Unlocking a phone will allow other SIM cards to work, but if you don't change your network settings, then the phone will still try to connect to the Rogers network.
How do i unlock the network, i have a samsung corby phone which is rogers based and am using a fido sim card. Everything works except the internet which comes up as network error. please let me know if you can help. email- [email protected], thank you.

This is a Palm Treo 750 forum. You should find a forum specific to your handset for exact instructions.
In general, your phone probably has a 'Settings' menu which would have some sort of option to edit your network settings. That's where you would make the change. You would have to get the proper settings from Fido.

If I have the APN set to the one for the network of the SIM Card I am using then will I not get charged roaming?
Is it possible for it to actually be roaming and me not knowing about it?
I am brand new to this site and this is my first post so please bear with a newbie. Just got a great deal online for a new Rogers HTC Dream. I bought an unlock code in order to use the phone with Telus my current carrier. I bought a sim card and had my plan changed to a data plan. Now here's the part that is frustrating me, I can not access the Telus data network. The phone works fine for phoning and text messaging, wifi works great, but if I try to access mobile data network I get "No network Connection". I checked with Telus added the Telus APN settings and set as default and still no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Do you have a 3G or H icon in the Notification bar?
Unfortunately I have neither.
Try getting the Telus APN settings. Then go to APN settings and add it in. This SHOULD work.
APNhav
I called Telus tech support, HTC support and setup the Telus apn and it is set as the default all before posting here. However I still can't access the data network. Will I have to root the phone in order to access the data network?
Good day,
Picked up the Samsung Galaxy S on friday branded for bell. The unlock procedure was quick and effortless which was great, thanks again XDA community. Once i configured my APN the phone works great on the Rogers Network.
However, I do have 1 problem. When i go to settings -> Call Settings -> Voicemail
Voicemail Service is set to "My Carrier" and the Voicemail number is set to "settings for My carrier"
Now I can't unselect "my carrier" and i cant change the number programmed in Voicemail as it's grayed out. The number in there is the Bell voicemail number.
Wondering if there is an easy way to change the number so i can input my rogers number? Am i stuck with this until Rogers supports the phone and i can firmware flash it with a rogers build (I know this will require me to root the phone ) ?
Thanks !

Same problem here
...Anyone?
same here cant find a fix
Had the same problem. You have to take the sim card and put it into another phone and change that voicemail number. Its a rogers default voicemail number. each area code is different. so if you don't know the number i suggest you take it into your local rogers dealer and let them change it in one of there loaner phones.
Cool I'll try that thanks.

Ya I'll try that too.
I don't think I've had to manually enter a vm password since the cantel/att days
I'm on rogers too but the phone was able to automatically pick up the voicemail settings with my rogers sim :S

Hi,
I have the US T-Mobile Moto-X. It is unlocked and rooted, running the stock ROM.
I'm abroad in South America and have a SIM and can make and receive calls and use data but when I try to send a text it is stuck on Sending...This happens on new SMS and replies. I have tried two SIMs from different providers.
I'm wondering if there could be maybe a gateway setting or something that needs to be updated.
Any suggestions?
Thanks much!
Mark
