For whatever reason all 3 of the music applications I have force close when I try to play any sound file. The stock app wouldn't work, I tried the MIUI player, and the Honeycomb player. What could be the problem?

im having issues where media scanner wont detect my stuff and when i try to play music using astro it fc's astro, and video player fc's on open, wont even detect my pix in my gallery......
A case of bad flash? Did it happen on all ROMs or just the one u r on? Did u try flashing to stock and then flashing ur rom?
its most definitely a flashing issue, it wont detect my pictures or anything either. i cant set my ringtones or anything. im downloading Odin on my windows computer (i do most of my tinkering with a macbook) so i can flash back to stock and start over. its really pissing me off that i finally found the modem/kernal/ROM combo i like and i get a million FCs.

Using latest Firefly Rom, and tried taking a video last night and the highest res just crashes the app. Tried rebooting phone, clearing out the videos / pics I had and still had the same problem. Lower resolution video works fine.

Are you using the Speedmod "bigmem" kernel?

Looking back at the Firefly thread, It contains Speedmod version Q Bigmem. With Bigmem, you trade off more ram for the system in exchange for low quality video.
you can easily flash a new kernel with SGS Kernel Flasher.

I just tried this and it's giving me the same error. When I start the camera and switch to video, the app crashes.. I also installed the latest speedmod kernel. hmmm.. what to do?

App crashing when switching to video means an issue with the camera app. This used to happen sometime way back on certain roms. And this crash doesn't have anything to do with video resolution. Check for the updated camera app. When I had this, I finally got hold for the camera app that worked, after like 3-4 failed attempts.
Try the two versions of camera apps I am attaching to this post. Make sure u rename the camera_old to camera before copying it. Do NOT try to install. Manually copy to /system/app folder.
Anyone know if the latest Firefly uses a speedmod with the same 720p camera issue?
I'm sure that it was caused by some apps I installed. Any videos including the Samsung Promo Vid couldn't be played. But after I reboot my phone, everything is fine.
But, if I don't use my phone (means I did not touch or open any apps), after hours the videos run fine. I realise after heavy use (after several apps are opened), the videos can't be played anymore.
Does anyone have the same issue too?
what kernel are u using? is stagefright enabled? download and install mobo player from market and temme if u still have those issue!!
Forgot to mention that I'm using the stock JVK ROM. May I ask what is stagefright?
if u dont know what it is then u havent done anything, so try a clean flash again and things will be back to normal..
I'm flashing a ROM from Samfirmware.com. Do I need to flash my JVK back to Froyo before flashing in a new 2.3.3? My JVK contains Bootloader.

I flashed a clean new stock ROM from Samfirmware.com and the issue persist. I googled around and most of them have this issue with their Youtube videos. However, my Youtube is working fine but not the videos in my SD Card.
As stated, after I reboot my phone, everything is fine.
I've installed MIUI MintBerry and am loving it, but not as much as I like. I've got an 8Gb Galaxy S with an extra 16Gb SD-card. The card is recognised, I can browse to it using Astro. But MIUI music won't pick up the MP3's on this card.
I did get WinAmp to see them, but playing them seems to be on-and-off. Mostly off. I even reflashed the whole phone with first placing a lower bootloader on it (Froyo) and flashing it again. What can I do to get my MP3's playing again...
Why do you go back to Froyo when Gingerbread Bootloaders are working fine? Almost everyone using CM7, ICS or MIUI are on GB Bootloaders. Better not mess with them because they could brick your phone permanantly.
Have you tried formatting the sd card and adding music again?

I always thought CM7 required the froyo bootloader, I think I've even read somehwere that this was causing them SD-problems (with the GB-bootloader). So why not try it, I'm willing to try everything (except format, see below).

The problem is not being on seeing the SD, I can see my card, it's under /sdcard/external_sd. For now I seem to have got WinAmp working again. But the MIUI player still doesn't see any songs, that's a shame, now my lockscreen works with the buttons, but I don't see any info about the song. So for now no new ROM needed, but I like to get the MIUI player working again.
A really late kick, but I found the problem. It seems that MIUI player needs the directory's with the music added in the configuration. Very confusing compared to the normal player of Android, since I had my music spread over several maps this wasn't really helpful.
Put everything in one big map and added that and now enjoying the music again !!!

problem is i backup my tab with kies "contacts , images and musics " now i wanna restore it but i cant since m keeps connecting forever
I do it with all roms and restore it back without it any problem , sadly it happen now with AOKP .
is there any chance make it work ?
If there is no way to work with kies , can i go back to overcome 2.3.6 ?

there is no way any custom rom (besides overcome) will work with Kies, but there are plenty of other alternatives. i suggest you visit google and start searching if you want to keep with ICS.
play market is definitely included with gapps; infact, without it there would be no point in gapps existing. music player is not included with gapps (but is included as standard on the rom) and youtube is available on the play store.

Wierd its worked and i backed up my info with it then went to AOKP
And you are right about market its there in folder , but not in apps menu in tab even after install , but got it when i installed gapps-ics-20120317

You obviously did not wipe or follow the installation instructions properly if play store doesn't show up in the app drawer.
To stop it from rotating when holding on icons go to settings - from control - general UI - allow 180 rotation.

Hey im a rather inexperienced flasher.. but I can manage my way around the tech terms...
anyway, I love these AOKP roms... but I have some issues, one is that I am losing root access, it keeps saying 'unable to update binary count'
next issue, video playback.. every video i play ( i tried MX player and MOBO player) stutters and is slow..
any help would be really appreciated.
the root access issue was temporarily solved by going back to hydracore v3 .. but i would love to use the hydracore v4.3, sadly i loose my root everytime i use this...
the video play is an issue on both kernels.. the rom i use is Jellycore..
Also, i read that usb mass storage was removed from jb build aokp roms, if so, any way to transfer stuff from my pc to my phone?? the normal connection somehow doesnt connect to my pc...
for now, i have shifted to kd v8 rom, but i really really want to use jellycore..

For root, download the Supersu flashable zip (you'll have to find it) and flash it right after you flash 4.3.
