[Q] Create you own custom rom from the stock rom without rooting. - Legend Android Development

I was looking a lot over the internet how to do that but all I can find is about rooted phones. This is the issue. I do not want to root my phone. I just want to remove some system apps that take up my space. Is there any way I can remove them from the RUU, than reflash somehow my phone with my own rom?

No questions in dev.. Guides have alreay been made..

Can someone upload a untouced stock rotted n1 nandroid backup?
Thanx in advance.
I think in this case you just flash stock ROM which easiest way is thru ROM manager. It has stock ROM readily available.
I agree with Roger..

2.2 Froyo Custom ROM

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forums and I have been thinking whether to root my phone or not, mainly for warranty purposes as I just got it a few weeks ago.
My question is, if I do root the phone, are there custom Froyo 2.2 roms available on this site and if so a)can you please link them to me and b) explain how to install?
I would like to also hear some input/feedback to what's the pros and cons of rooting my phone and if its actually worth it and what happens if something happens and I can't fix it?
I really appreciate with all the help I can get and thanks
I'm new here myself but haven't you ever heard of Google my child? Or heck, search the forums there are plenty of them explaining how to.

At the moment there is one ROM which you can use for your daily used one.
- Azure from Ali Bau (take a look at the thread)
I use the ROM since two weeks and don't have any issue.

Thanks for information. All I have to do is, do more research and find out how to root my phone, and install the custom ROM

[Q] Need advice for a ROM - Any help welcomed!

Hey guys,
Right now I have an HTC Legend I bought through my cell operator.
Of-course it's sim locked and it's running Eclair 2.1.
The full software information:
Firmware version: 2.1-update 1
Baseband version: 47.39.35.09U_7.08.35.21
Kernel version:2.6.29-639577ca
[email protected]#1
Build number:2.05.461.52 CL218650 release-keys
Software number: 2.05.461.52
I decided it's a time for a rooting and putting some rom on it...
What I'm trying to find first is the ROM that all the rooting stuff will worth it.
The characteristics of ROM I'm looking for:
1) The most stable ROM (don't want to see any unexpected reboots or freezing).
2)Fully functional Legend(GPS working, WIFI, 3G, SMS, Calls, Camera and etc.)
3)Improved WIFI signal (better than I have now ).
4)Fast performance without any lagging and freezing(faster than eclair 2.1).
5)Stable ability of moving and saving applications on SD card.
6)The most battery saving ROM (ROM with best battery power management).
7)As much as less pre-installed not needed software.
-I've seen that some ROMS require changing KERNEL, I'm a newbie in this stuff so any "android expression guide" will be welcomed.
Any suggestion and advice will be welcomed.
Also would like to know where can I find a complete guide for rooting my phone, with all the required steps (don't want to brick my phone beacuse someone forgot to mention what is the next step).
Appreciate your help my friends.
p.s.
If I ask my cell operator to unlock my phone to sim free, will I still need to use Gold-Card for rooting?
Hi..
First of all.. This question should have been asked in the General forum..
Second.. What you need is not a rooted phone.. Just an update for 2.2 (FroYo) should be available for your phone by now.
If you somehow decide to root I would recommend
[ROM] B 0.5 (based on stock HTC FroYo WWE 3.15.405.3) by BlaY0
If you want to keep the look and feel of HTC..
or
[ROM] CyanogenMod 6.1 by Ali Ba
if you want the look and feel of what Android was all about in the first place..
You can start from this discussion:

although it is not updated

The thing is, my cell operator not going to release froyo 2.2 for legend, so I have no option but to root.
Unless there is some way to install RUU version without rooting????
I' m sorry for posting in wrong forum,if administrator can move this thread to appropriate one I'll be be glad.
still haven't understand if i'll need a gold card if i ask my cell operator to open my Legend to sim free...
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
You will need a goldcard to root regardless of whether or not the phone is sim unlocked. However, if you want to flash a RUU update all you will need is a goldcard, no need to root your phone. If you do decide to root, I would recommend either of the two ROMs already mentioned above.
thanks a lot my friend, not gonna root right now i think but do want to install official froyo 2.2.
where can i find the lastest ruu file? and also a full guide how to do it right without damage to phone....
will the official froyo update will provide all i've mentioned?

Why don't you google "legend root howto" or search the forum? "legend root"?
If that's a serious question, PLEASE don't root! You won't be happy without reading A LOT and using google!
but i decided not to root but just flash ruu froyo, the official froyo for legend...
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Yes, but you have to create a Goldcard, thats explained in the rooting howto's, then pick any RUU, you can update it via OTA!
ok my friend, appreciate you help... but what ota means?

[Q] Brick bug: will JB be safe?

I recently got a Note running stock ICS 4.03, not rooted, nothing. I've been trying to wrap my head around the brick bug thing ever since I got it. I'm still a bit scared about flashing a new ROM though.
Should I wait for the official 4.1.2 update? Will it fix the brick bug so it will be safe to flash anything again? Have devs been able to glean that from the existing 4.1.2 leaks and official releases (Poland?)?
Or will I have to move to a safe kernel (Philz?) manually anyway, no matter if I wait for the 4.1.2 update first?
Thanks so much!
This place is really good. You get guidance, tutorials, instant help. (when I think of instant help, one name comes to mind nokiamodeln91, there are several guys like him here). But spoon feeding is not encouraged. You are asking several questions with multiple if and buts. Answer may run into pages. You want to fire the rifle from others shoulder.
It's your phone and your choices. Definitely there are elements of risk when you do something different. Try out whatever you like. Read carefully before doing.

We wont know if its safe until kernel and sources are interpreted by the pros, there is a main brickbugthread in general watch that one for the answers
Go to app stpre downlod brickbugapp, it wil tell u if ur device is prone to this flaw.
If yes then its something to worry about and its only if u want to flash custom roms. If u want to keep stock then its ok even if u have the bug.
Search and find how to root ur device, for me to make the process easy, i install the "exynos abuse" app from play store , it will root ur device just in a single click
Then install root checker app, again from play store to see if ur device is rooted.
Then install the rom manager and install the cwm recovery through it.
Then search the thread of philz safe kerne. And follow procedures to flash it.
Ur device is safe now.

[Q] htc one root to google editon noob

Hello,
I have an htc one from o2. I want to root it to google edition. Iam a noob at this so can someone show me the way or links to a tutorial please.
Is it worth doing? whats the advantages of a rooted phone? sorry for the questions but i have come from iphone to android so iam new to all this.
thanks
My advice is keep studying, install the sdk and get good at adb and comfortable! Once you're ready and able use a guide for your phone and read it a couple times before you start. Most importantly don't stop any operations you attempt in mid stream follow through and don't reboot until you know it's all good. Hope it's as fun for you as it was for me.

thanks for that, but that means nothing to me.Whats the advantages etc. Is it worth it. i can follow tutorials etc. just need to know what the best guide is etc
If you don't know what the advantages of a rooted phone are and what root means, why are you trying to do it? To be honest I don't even understand your post - do you want to root your rom, have a rooted google edition rom or fully convert to a google edition phone?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
sorry for the confusion. Like i say im new to this.
I dont know the difference, i know rooting that you can put custom roms on it, but whats the difference and best, do fully make it google edition or put a custom rom on?

First off, you don't need to be rooted to flash a custom rom - all you need is a custom recovery after you unlock your bootloader. A good guide for noobs to read is the one by mike1986 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
If I were you, I'd stick to just flashing a google edition rom to see if you like it, rather than doing a full conversion. This way you can easily get back to stock. This rom is 4.3 Google edition and already rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395
Read the guide above carefully though. Especially the parts about backing up stock, or you'll be back here later asking for help..
