Here's the problem with my HTC HD7, I have used it for sometime and today I did a reset going to settings->about->reset. The phone came back straight to the home(tiles) screen without starting through the Windows setup screens. It then restarted by itself and after that it is pulling back all of my old contacts, old messages & mails. I also did a factory reset using the Volume Up/down & power buttons but the same story.
Anyone think of what's going on? do you think the internal memory corruption or something?
thanks in advance,
TZ
could try this......
Resetting using the hardware buttons
You can also use the buttons to perform a hard reset. This comes in handy if the screen is frozen and you can’t access the phone.
1. Turn the phone off. If it’s frozen or unresponsive, pull then replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and power the phone back on.
3. Continue to hold Volume Up and Volume Down until a factory reset screen appears.

I've searched the forums, and can't find a report of anything similar...so this might be new...if it isn't, help locating a thread would be great.
- Downloaded Blackberry connect install cab
- Seems to install fine (log looked good before reboot)
- Press "ok" to reboot device, but upon reboot, the device screen is locked at the Windows Mobile screen
The unit seems to be operating fine... I can receive calls - the phone rings, the caller ID pops up, but it stays on top of the Windows Mobile boot screen...
The power button will not shut the unit off...only turns the locked screen on and off
Battery removal and reboot freezes at same spot.
I had deselected all the ActiveSync options including the 'connect via USB' option... and now can't view my device from my laptop...
I've had the TILT only a couple of days...I'm running the stock ATT Tilt ROM & software...added two themes (night palms and the planet reflection ones)... have a 6G microSD card with some songs, pictures, and a device backup...
Looking forward to your suggestions & solutions!!
I tried it on mine and it did the same. So I gave up and did the hard reset and started over without even attempting to install the bb connect.
after hard reset
thanks for the quick response...
the hard reset worked fine...
I repeated the bbconnect setup, this time installing to the device instead of to my card... everything worked fine.
How did you do a hard reset on it?
hard reset
a hard reset will wipe all your data and set it everything back to the default status...it isn't supposed to clear anything on your sd card ... i take mine out anyway.
to do a hard reset, hold both the soft buttons while pressing the reset button w/ the stylus (the reset button is on the bottom edge under the hard OK button )

One thing the instruction did not say rright was to hold the two soft keys and then press the reset then release and wait for the screen to give the instructions. Well the real way is to hold all 3 and wait and the process will be on its way.

this is just not working for me, how long are you pressing the stylus in? how long are you holding the buttons?
When I do it I get the AT&T logo screen (a short vibrate) then it continues to the windows mobile boot screen. I can never get the prompt to erase all data. I've tried the procedure a dozen times, no luck.
Make sure you are pressing the soft buttons and not the 'call' and 'end call' buttons as stated on some sites. Hold those and press stylus into reset until it turns off. Continue holding the buttons until the message comes up.
I've just had to do this for exactly the same reason!
I had the same problem on my Touch. After the hard reset I have found a solution: install application to device memory not on storage card. That helped me and now BB Connect is working fine.
I suspect its the soft on/off switch that might be broken.
First I could not swtich on the device as you would usually to operate it. So I slided the device open, and the screen switched on. Then couldn't switch of device, so i removed sim card to reset phone.
Now I cannot switch on the deivice at all. It remains off. It can charge, but it won't switch on, I've pushed every button. I have even pushed in the soft reset switch, and nothing.
How can I get the phone to operate again? Is there any other way of switching it on without the side button.
How can I get my data off, because if it goes in for repairs they will just hard reset the phone and loose all my data?
Should a push switch be able to break so easily, I can feel it clicking when pushed, I thought buttons were tested a million times before they start breaking? Has anyone had an issue like this before?
Do you get a dark red led when it's charging?
Yes I get the Red LED displaying.
How else can I switch the device on?
How else can I get the data off If i cannot switch on the device?
If I hold down the power and camera buttons, and hold the soft reset button with the stylus will this hard reset the phone and I will lose all my data, or will it give me an option and ask if I want to proceed?
I really do not want to hard reset, Im just looking for a way to get the phone on to be able to backup my data.
A way to test the power button

Well IF your power button is actually faulty, it won't matter. You do realise that holding down the power and camera buttons simultaneously (no need to use the stylus at all) is the way to get into the bootloader screen don't you? Given this, that'll be a way of 'testing' the power button (unless of course the camera button is faulty).
This is the second Sprint Touch Diamond I've had with this problem, and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing it. I boot the phone fresh, then when it's done turn off the display with the power button. When I press the power button again, it turns on, and then the buttons stop working. The device is fully usable other than no buttons, including power, work. The display also stays on, and will not turn off after the normal period of time. I also noticed if I hold the power button, the pop-up for a soft reset will come up, but choosing yes does not actually soft reset it.
Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it without bringing it in?
Thanks!
my Diamond don't boot after rom update and hard reset. update goes to 100% and no problem but now when i turn on i only see the splash scree that say's "Touch Diamond". Can i solve this?
To enter triggered bootloader mode, you need to take the back off of your phone so you can access the reset hole. Then, you need to simultaneously press the power button, volume down (-) button, and the arrow button (<--) while at the same time, pressing your stylus into the reset hole. I know it sounds nearly impossible, but I am able to do it using two hands for the buttons, and pressing the stylus into the phone with my stomach. Sounds crazy, but it's pretty easy once you've done it a couple of time.
Or get another person to help you with the button pushing..

I tried to bootloader mode, recording about 10 different times, Rome and finally came out
My HD7 is stuck on the start-up HTC screen. If left for a few mins. it goes to the screen showing Phone- USB cable -PC and thats it.
I tried hard reset: volume up/down held down + power on/off. No matter how long I hold these buttons down it does not go to the boot loader screen, infact it goes to the same screen as mentioned Phone-USB-PC.
When I hold down volume button + camera +power on/off the tri-colour screen appears for a few seconds but then does to the white screen saying "Enter USB Host Mode"
Zune comes up with error C101002E and trying to flash it with O2 rom the error 260, no comms
Can I do anything to restore this?
I've just found out it has no memory card! Would this stop it from booting past the start-up screen?
Yes I bought it as faulty, so I thought a reset would do it. Its not dead, far from it but I just need pointing in the right direction
Hold volume up + down at the same time and click power once while continuing to hold BOTH volume buttons...
If that doesn't work and u haven't hacked ur fone ibwould call for a replacement .... I'm sending mine back cuz mine is constantly freezing and rebooting by itself
