What type of data are you referring to?
Most everything on this OS is sync based.
Everything should sync if you sync it with the same accounts you did on your last one. Everything should be on those accounts.

Does anyone know if there is an alternate to ActiveSync?
I have been using WinMo for about a year and am disappointed that the sync software from M$ doesn't actually sync. That is to say, it doesn't look at a file - say Contacts - and use the more recently updated one to overwrite the other one, regardless of whether the newer one is on the PC or the phone.
For example, if I enter a new contact into my phone, while I am in the field, the concact does not show up on my PC after a sync. Still on the phone, but not actually synchronized to the PC.
Is there software that actually synchronizes or do they all just follow the "overwrite phone/ overwrite computer" rules?
I should mention that I sync between 2 PCs.

Mmm it looks like it doesn't sync outlook stuff (calendar, contacts, tasks, email).. is that the case?
sounds like you have a configuration issue w/ activesync - mine will take whichever is newer, even when syncing between 2 machine. in fact, i've used my phone to sync my work and home machines by using my phone as the go-between. I think the "overwrite phone/etc" settings only kick in if a record is changed on both the phone as well as the desktop?
it sounds like he wants to Sync on 2 PC's and get all stuff on both
you can sync on 2 pcs and get everything on both. the only thing you can't sync to two machines is email...
Task Sync Error
Hi all,
I had a look but couldn't find any help on this issue, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a Tytn II running WM6, it syncs all my contacts and everything, however i have created a couple of tasks that occur on a weekly basis. I created them in Outlook and then synced them to my phone. The problem i have is when i complete the task and mark it off on my phone, the next time i sync, the task in outlook is not complete and has made a duplicate, is there any way to change this.

well I had just migrate myself into using G1, back from my previous winmo device, I have no idea how do I move all the important contacts from winmo to Android? the contacts on my SIM card are noprob, but from the phone memory?
I havent got the device now, im just making sure i'll migrate easily

Are your WinMo contacts on an exchange server anywhere? i.e. Did you have your MinMo phone synced with an Exchange Server or Outlook on a PC?
If so, there are a few options to get them over to your phone.
Touchdown is an app that runs on the G1 that syncs with Exchange.
gSyncit is an app that runs on your PC and syncs your Outlook contacts and Calendar with Google.

Hello,
You must install Zune software to connect WP7 to PC.
Without this you cannot sync anything.

Email sync is a separate thing - go to settings -> email and accounts, and add the details of your email config.
Use your live.com account to collect your emails. in outlook set up a "hotmail connector" account using your live ID and ta da!
I did this to collect emails and sync my calendar/contacts via outlook to my phone. This has the added advantage of not needing to plugged in to sync as your phone will just check the live.com account for updates every now and then.

No, i connect my HD7 to my Home comp running win 7 & my work laptop running XP. My data is retained on both systems, and nothing is wiped from either comp or my phone

Without rooting or jailbreaking your phone, you will not access the sd card via mass storage like a lot of phones. It wouldn't do you much good anyway. You want to download and install Zune from Microsoft. Zune imports your media, and often times converts it so the phone can utilize it properly.
To sync contacts in Outlook, assuming Exchange is not an option, utilize the Outlook Hotmail Connector, and your contacts are synced to the cloud, which your live account (live, hotmail, msn) can access. There are also sync methods for gmail, just search. Active Sync is no longer used.

I want to sync my outlook calendar to my HD7. Such that I shouldn't be actually sitting at laptop and still remember my meetings.
My company has facility to push emails on personal devices over data network (Edge/GPRS/BlackBerry/3G/Iphone), but I have to pay for the data charges. And moreover I just want only Calendar, not emails. I receive atleast 200 emails daily & if I setup my device to receive my company mails, then I'll keep on being poorer every month by paying data charges to my operator.
I had HTC Touch (Elfin) & Nokia E72, where I could sync calendars, contacts (if required), emails (if required).
But when I am connecting my HD7, Zune doesn't have any option to sync calendars, contacts or emails.
Can any one of help here?

The option which is given in link is for setting up Microsoft Exchange Account for OTA (Over the Air) Sync. Since, that will cost a lot of data transmission, I was looking for Offline sync such as over USB or Bluetooth.
Nokia E72/ HTC Touch Elfin both can sync to outlook over USB connection.
Moreover to get OTA sync up, it requires many approvals, encryption and hell lot of other things before I can get just meeting subject, location & time.
So something as easy as HTC Touch/Nokia E Series USB/BT sync-up will help me solve the problem.
