(Resolved) Unable to connect to 3g with good APN, after flash - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all and thanks for your future help
So today i flash a friend's SGS, his phone run on SFR network (from france) with the DJP5 firmware with the combo fully fonctional.
So i flash a JM5, then the JS3 and i flash my rom kitchen from doc, custom JS3 with JPY modem and XEF CSC.
All is fine, the phone reboot, I flash speedmod Kernel k13a, reboot and set the good network and BAM.
Could not connect to 3g whatever i do.
I try different APN, then I reset to the first one (normaly the good one) but nothing.....
I try different modem (JPE, JPY and JPX) nothing work at all, i'm unable to connect 3g......
First time i see this problem, even if i flash my phone ten time a week.....
So I hope you could help me
Thanks in advance !

Nobody can help me? No idea?

I have the same kind of problem with mine. APN info is perfect. Settings are for GSM&WCDMA. I have no problem with WIFI and EDGE works fine so it'll still transfer data. It's with Darky's 9.2 ROM though so it may have something to do with the JS3 firmware customisations.
I've cleared cache and dalvik cache as well and I get the 3g symbol up for a moment but when it actually starts to transfer data, it switches to EDGE.
I'm re-flashing Darky's firmware without wipe just to see if it's an issue with my altering twframework.apk for a cool notification window background. I'll pop back on this one tomorrow and let you know how that went just to see if the first one was a bad flash. I have read that there can be more issues with flashing through CWM then through Odin but I think I'll wait and see if that's necessary.

hey i got kinda same problem..!!! :-| i have SGS i9000 in India...today i installed darky's ROM for the first time...installed 9.2 extreme version....but after that i just cant connect to a data network...not even Edge network.... if i update APN settings manually & reboot...still they are not saved...tried switching data network on & off million times also switching flight mode on & off....in hope that it will connect to my data network but just wont work..!!!

Have you all set the user names for the apn settings? I wasn't connecting either until I verified the usermame and password were correct.

Ok, here's the problem. It's the CSC. I know it bites but you're going to have to go through a system reset. The custom firmwares come with multi-csc (wipe versions) so enter your dial pad and type *#272*(your imei)# then select a CSC for your country or something like XEU which is what I did. Then, enter recovery, clear cache and dalvik cache. Finally, re-enter your APN.
Hope that does it for you. It worked for me as my CSC was XXOJPY (Darky's ROM) and set to KOR. I know I'll be keeping this in mind the next time I flash a new wipe ROM. Oh and do a backup beforehand, just in case.
If this helps, feel free to hit the thanks button

i always use the my region CSC.. my case the nordic one.. tried multi CSC but had various problems too..

There-in lies the problem. Generally it's a "set it and forget it" kind of thing but in the case of a rom that's going to wipe everything, you need to reset it.

Thanks for your reply! I
I've got all my apn 's settings right but I found a solution. The csc was multi and flash by the rom, so I flash and xef csc by odin and it works for me
Maybe it work for you
Thanks again for your help!

[Q] ROM upgrade problems

I just upgraded from the official optus 2.2 JP5 (i think) to the JVK 2.3.3 (its european) and the rom itself is working perfectly I can call text but can't get a data connection even when roaming is turned on. I also have a 3g symbol up the top which is weird because it's saying i have connection. YES i have selected my APN again when i flashed the rom with odin i didn't flash the CSC and PHONE is this why? i thought they were just for if you live in europe. thanks
yeah i know there are some compatibility issues when you just flash PDA if it doesnt already have a modem and CSC. Its best to just reflash JVK with the modem and csc from JP5 if you dont want to change.
But check your APN setting to see if its correct. I upgraded my brothers phone and I noticed the APN setting was incorrect (was set to internet instead of yesinternet).

darkys rom and market

hi i was searching for a good rom, i was in darkys 9.5 and moved to darkys 10.2 ExEd
i did it throught odin..
the rom is super fast and super nice ! BUT... (((
market is not working ! when i try to download a app it saws tha it is downloading but it isnt and after 10 minutes give me a error.
Sometimes after a lot of reboot works once maybe two but then tha same again !
i didnt have this problem in 9.5.
Does anyone had this problem ? any opinion or suggestions ? i'v tied throught sgs wipe market cache, reinstall market 3.15 nothing
i would be gratuful for any help..
i hope i open the thread in the correct place this time..
anyone..
Have you checked your csc code?
The problem is propably in csc code.
Wysłano z GT-I9000 z użyciem Tapatalk
thanks for the replay ! could you give m a direction csc code ? where can i see it ?
if this tha problem how can i fix it any link or help would be great ! ty!!!
i use wifi ! browser and any other app how use internet works fine..
i can do it throught odin.. i just add csc ? and all the other tha same..
where can i get the correct file(im from greece) ??
well i used *#272*IMEI# and saw that it is KOR
does this mean korean....
how can change it ot a greek one...?
Yes it means Korean, change it to greece by looking here
the only option give me is XEU CPW XEO KOR DBT not BY(greece)
should i flash the phone again throught odin with the same tar and pid of darkys and aldo add new csc ? should i ad modem too ?
i found in this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913
a csc eur. 2.3.4 if i use this is it going to work ok or am i going to burn my love one galaxy
I dont suggest odin for this, what you can do is find the csc folder from another rom, then open up the .zip you used from darky 10.2 EE, find the csc folder open it, if the other 3 letter code folders are there, paste you folder there. Then flash the rom like you did last time. Then use the *#272* code and change it. This will factory reset your phone
The csc is a 3-letter code, you need to scroll down in the link i gave you above, also you can use this which maybe clearer
thanks tallon for your suggestion but the rom im using in 10.2 resurr. and it is in pda form.
i dont mind doing a new flash with odin but i dont know if i use a csc file in odin with the pda.tar and .pit and no modem would be ok or bye bye my galaxy..
and i dont know where the H#$% could i find the right csc i think i did but i didn't
oooffoouuu..
Download csc from here
10.2 EE Its the same as 10.2 RE but CWM or darky app flashable... If your not sure where to put the csc files, or which to put lemme know
thansk man ! your life saving !
i've just flashe 2.3.4 of. throught odin, market is not working either !! ((
i'll flash once again 10.res. darkys.
i donwloaded the correct csc but where should i put it..?
have you done this before ? ttttthhhannkkkssss !!!
I have played around with the csc files before flashing the Darkyrom 10.2.2 Final which is a zip, but this was to ensure that the default was set to my csc rather then what they had already set it to.
Anyway, when you open the .zip go to system>>csc this is where all the csc files are stored, simply put your folder in here. Make sure it has a the same format as the inside of the other folders....
In addition to the above if you want it to be the default so you don't have to type in the code to change it, copy and replace the identically named files that are currently outside of the 3-letter code folders.. (contents.db, customer.xml, feature.xml, others.xml, sales_code.dat)
done with csc ! i used an install.zip in the recovery mode, change it to eur.
greek is working great in phone BUT market is not working ..!! it seems that wasn't the problem.. d%#$%$ oofoouuu... what else .. (((
After alll thatt.... argg
You checked the csc with the code.....?
Reflash everything to stock, and delete everything, im not sure anymore im tired. Ill let you know if i think of anything, but usually that or wiping the market cache works.
So again whilst your on a roll you may as well flash stock, and make sure to wipe in internal sd, cache, and dalvik cache, and factory reset.
Dont forget that wiping the dalvik will cause your phone to take approx. 10 mins to boot, maybe more..
You imei is fine right? Same as original...

Recovered from camera problem...now dealing with network issue!! PLEASE HELP!!

A few months ago, i had the non-function problem with my camera after using the firmware update code, on my SG I9000. I resolved that with some help from a friend, by downgrading to Eclair (JM1_JM1_U_JM1.tar) and switching the camera files - the usual method. After reboot, the camera was working fine but appeared the problem with the network - "NO SERVICE".
Till now, I used different versions of android (Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread) to fix it without any luck.
If you know any other method, i'll owe you one big time.
Thanx!
Note: I have to say that, before having the camera issue, I unlocked my rooted phone using "GALAXY_S UNLOCK" from Android Market.
maybe you can try to flash your phone to the latest firmware such as XXJVU by using odin.
have you rooted your phone again after using different android version? if not, try rooting it, then unlock it with apps from the market, this would fix the "no service" problem.
you could also try flashing it with a different modem.

I tried flashing with different modem but without any good result until now. Today I'll try again with a different modem (something with a file "7zip" transformed in a folder ".tar"...I'm new with this, i know nothing about it so a friend is helping me).
If this doesn't work, I'm trying the rooting method you're telling me about.
Thanx for all!
The JVT modem is pretty god as well. you can flash the tar or zip files by using sgs kernel flasher from market or by odin.

Thanx guys!
It seems that I resolved it, using the I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA modem (Open Europe). At first, when the phone rebooted there was no signal...it appeared that the problem persisted, but now, after the factory reset (*2767*3855# ) everything seems to work just fine.
Still, I don't remember if SGS signal icon shows the 3G indicator in the upper taskbar (like the SGS 2), because mine doesn't! Can anyone confirm if it's wright or not?
Last edit: It seems the 3G doesn't work, as i tried to access the internet an icon pops saying "No network connection / Cannot connect to internet. Please check your connection settings and try again" - "Settings" and "Ok". If I press "Settings", it takes me to the "Wireless and Network" Menu.
SO, ANY CLUE?
Thanx again!
Have you tried flashing a different modem? What carrier are you on and what modem are you currently using?
Had a bit of a browser glitch, there were zero replies a minute ago.

I'm using an Orange Romania prepay card...and now the installed version is I9000XXJVU (the latest 2.3.6 - Open Europe).
I have signal but without 3G, i think, cause the internet connection doesn't work...only wi-fi does.
with the 3g problem, i think you need to edit your apn settings.
settings > wireless and network > mobile network settings > access point names
this is network specific and you might want to check it with your provider

I got home, set on my SGS the same APN settings from the SGS-2 I'm using now with the Orange Romania card, and it seems to work...at least I don't get the "No network connection / Cannot connect to internet" message anymore and the H/3G icon now appears near the signal icon in the upper taskbar.
I stiil have to run some tests to be 100% sure it really works.
I'll be in touch!

[Q] 3g not woriking after installing a cutom rom.

So, I recently installed CM9 and on top of that SlimBean 2.6. Both worked otherwise perfectly, but I couldn't get my 3g connetion to work on either one, unless I turned "National Roaming" on. I checked the Acces Point Name settings, and they seem to be fine. I can't find my service provider on the Network operators list though. I read that a new modem migth do the trick, but I have no idea if that will help or which modem to choose.
I had a similar problem after going to CM9. I even had my APN (access point names) settings disappear randomly also.
Solution for me was to turn 'airplane mode' on....wait 30 seconds then turn off.
Strange as it sounds but it actually worked for me. But in the end, (after 1 day) I changed to samsungized 12.1 JB rom because I found that I had to use that airplane mode on/off alot and was too much of a pain.
Hope this helps.
If not, I'd revert back to a stock rom then upgrade to a stable JB rom
Tried just that, but no luck so far. Any other suggestions?

Id recommend trying a good stable stock rom with a 512_pit repartition via Odin, just to see it it improves the modem or not.
The rom im going to suggest has a replacement Modem file within.
Might sort the problem.
Ive used this stock rom to fix my many problems ive had after custom roms.( Mainly format errors i had )
Its from 'HotFile' site and took me around 20 mins to download it.
But it might be worth the wait in your case.
Rom File:
http://hotfile.com/dl/140301534/be8872c/I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA.rar.html
Here Is the Pit File and Odin version I used. ( 3rd box down the page )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
And heres the Root file. Get " CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS " :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15188469
s1_odin_20100512.pit Goes in PIT ( repartition checked )
CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5 Goes in PDA
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5 Goes in CSC
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5 Goes in phone
Sorry if im telling you what you already know with how to use Odin, just making sure.
After rom install pop this root on with Odin via download mode.
CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS goes in PDA
I reckon its worth a shot.
Must make sure the 3 wipes are done before the rom install. I learned this the hard way and messed my
phone up for a while.
Problem solved! I did some googling around, and found a solution. Apparently my carrier, Saunalahti, is known for having problems with 3g on custom roms. I found out that a nexus s modem by the name of i9020AUCKF1 might work. And sure enough, it did the trick! No more roaming! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to help me!

[HELP] No internet (mobile data) on SentinelROM and CM10.1

Hi guys
Yesterday I was able to flash SentinelROM successfully
I was very happy until when I went out and disconnected from my wifi, I realized that there was no internet connection
Tried to restore APN settings to default, but to no avail
Took out the simcard and put into my iphone, data was fine
So I reflash stock ROM, data worked
Reflash Sentinel, data didn't work
Flashed CM10.1, data also didn't work, although APN settings have been restored to default
Phone and sms worked though..
So now I'm stuck with stock
Could anybody please help?
Just so you know, I'm on O2 UK
Many thanks

I did some reading
The stock firmware which I'm using on my phone has these details (it's Germany - DBT):
PDA: I9305XXBME3
CSC: I9305DBTBMF1
MODEM: I9305XXBME1
which is the same as describe in sammobile.com (the latest)
As I'm in UK and using O2, according to sammobile.com, the details for the latest firmware (O2U):
PDA: I9305XXBMA3
CSC: I9305O2UBMA1
MODEM: I9305XXBLL5
Should I just flash the modem XXBLL5 onto my phone?
Or should I flash I9305XXBMA3_I9305O2UBMA1_O2U.zip stock firmware?
Please advise
Try these
CSC: I9305O2UBMA1
MODEM: I9305XXBLL5

I'll try that and we'll see :good:
I have downloaded the modem file, i.e. XXBLL5.zip, but I can't find that specific CSC file for I9305 although I've done a lot of research..
So I flashed anyway the I9305XXBMA3_I9305O2UBMA1_O2U.zip stock firmware, but no internet at all although with this stock ROM..so I imagine it won't work on Sentinel as well..
I have a similar issue but nothing apart from flashing CM10.1 works
So far tried about 6 different ROMs, all built for i9305 and ALL have no data connection but wifi works faultless. Reflash CM10.1 and I get my data connection back. Which is a pain as I really liked Pandorium with Perseus kernel and JKay framework so I can tweak away
Did a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik between all flashing. All ROMs install and run perfectly on wifi, just no data connection. Reflash CM10.1 ...... again. And all my problems go away. On T-Mobile/EE/Orange in UK
It appears, after much reading, it could be linked to an incorrect CSC (Country Code). So you might have to flash the CSC code for your specific Country AND mobile carrier
No data connection error is due to the modem is set-up for a different country and mobile carrier, so obviously it can't connect to what it can't find .....
Now I'm just trying to get my head around CSC flashing and tracking down methods that don't NEED a Samsung firmware
CSC is the customer setup configuration .
Network settings for different networks .
See the CSC post .
jje
I just don't understand..why does it work with stock ROM..but not with Sentinel and CM10.1?
I mean..we do not change the CSC and modem after flashing those custom ROMs, do we?
There are lists of modems and CSCs here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26530885#post26530885
I am eager to test them, but I fear those CSCs and modems are for I9300, which would brick my I9305. Please advise

1. changed CSC to BTU and modem to XXBLL5 - mobile internet worked with stock ROM, but didn't work with Sentinel ROM
2. changed CSC to O2U and modem to XXBLL5 - mobile internet worked with stock ROM, but didn't work with Sentinel ROM
FYI, I'm on O2 UK (pay monthly/post pay),
~ edit APN and/or reset APN to default settings - nothing happened - mobile internet didn't work on both CSC and modem configs
HOWEVER, when I inserted an O2 prepaid/pay as you go sim card,

For now I have to settle with stock based ROMs..
I couldn´t get mobile data connection in my i9300 with this rom. I tried a new APN profile with the appropiate settings and information and my mobile data began working. Hope it helps.
