HC Email app memory hog??? - Nook Color General

Anyone ekse have this issue? Im talking about the email app, not gmail. I have my gmail combining with my hotmail and coming through this app and i would say i have about 20 total emails on the app viewable with no attachments. Well i removed snd reinstalled some stuff and my email account got wiped. I noticed on boot it was super snappy and quick, but after i setup my email it lagged.. so i check at running processes and the email app had 83megs of space on my ram.....
Anyone ekse having this issue? Theres no way i have 83megs worth of email, and if thats the app size, that sucks

Gmail and K9 Question

I have been using k9 for my email since I have multiple gmail accounts, but today since I can use multiple accounts in gmail now, I set up gmail. I have found that emails that have embedded pictures do not show the pictures even if I click on show pictures. Any idea on how to fix this?
This has me considering going back to K9, but if I do does anyone know of a way to get messages to completely delete from the server instead of moving to Imap/Trash? I have it set to delete from server, but did not know if there was anything else I could set in K9 to do this. Thanks for any ideas.
The only 2.1 ROM that has pictures showing up in Gmail (so far) is DarchLegend v4.1.

[Q] Email fix or alternate?

I use the supplied email handler in my ATT Captivate and seeing some issues recently. Any emails with any attachments will just sit loading forever and never truly display me the attached file. its doing this for both my hotmail and gmail accounts. Anyone know of an issue/fix or have another email handler to suggest that might be a lot friendlier to use then the stock one?
I too was disappointed with the stock email client. Take a look @ K-9 Mail in the market it's free
Sweet, downloading now
K9 is the ****. Used it from day 1 of owning my phone

Stock Android Email / Push not working

Is it me or does the stock android email app not receive pushed emails? My Gmail app receives them instantaneously, or almost. The stock android email app requires you to have a set syncing period. If any new mail is pushed, it will not see it until you manually sync or the sync period previously set comes around.
Is this behavior the way this app is intended to work or am I missing something?
Any insight would be much appreciated!

I set my email to every 5 minutes. it's a little drain on battery but its really nice
watch your data though, i recommend the 2GB plan if you set it to every 5
I have unlimited data... just wish I could figure out why a stock android email app can't take advantage of Push...
Thanks for your suggestion though!
Anyone else have any ideas?

I hate bumping my own threads but this is bugging the crap out of me...
Does everyone else experience this same type of sync issue as well?
Any input would be appreciated!

i have never had problems with stock android mail app when it comes to push. been using it on exchange 2003 backend for quite some time. its worked fine since 2.1
I use Maildroid. It will push most email (haven't tried Exchange accounts), even yahoo.
Thanks guys,
I am needing it to allow for push emails from my gmail accout. So far the stock email client is the only one I have found that allows me to use Grouped Contacts... I would think that gmail push to native email android email client would be a given but not so for me...

the GMail app pushes....
Yes and I use it in conjunction with the stock app. The Gmail app will not let me use grouped contacts though. I manage a sports team and I frequently have to send out emails with 35+ recipients and with gmail I have to enter each one separately.
Thanks for the input!

that makes sense. didnt realize it didnt allow that.
I have moved on to the GSII but still ran in to this problem. The fix was eventually found by someone else (bustabo) but here it is...
You have to set up your Gmail account using the exchange settings in account setup.

[Q] Does anyone else have problems with the stock or CM7 email app for exchange?

I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned very much, but exchange for the stock i9000 app is horrendous. It used to be unusable in eclair and froyo. Now it's actually works but finds it impossible to handle pictures within emails. When I open any kind of email with pictures (not attachments), it seems unable to scroll. The CM7 email app simply doesn't load the pictures.
Does anyone know of a fix for this? Also does the problem persist in the SII or SIII?
NB there are some ported ones in the themes and apps page, none for gingerbread though.
My experience with the stock email client hasn't been good either. Hotmail for example, gets added as an exchange account and it does not sync properly. No luck with K9 either. The slow and buggy hotmail app works ok though.

I use the port for the HTC wildfire S and when I set the hotmail account to exchange access it doesn't load any attachments. When I use the pop3 access it works... strange..

Stock Email App Deleting Messages

When using a POP3 account with the stock email app I checked "Delete From Server? NEVER" and it deletes the message from my server anyway.
Works fine from all my other phones. Anyone else having the same problem?
Mike
Same problem here
I am in the same boat. It appears that it does not do it immediately, but shortly after deleting. I have double checked my settings and all account say to never delete from server. This is troubling. It appears that the email app on the turbo is very different from all previous droid email apps. Messages saved from previous email apps cannot be opened by the trubo email app.
Anyone have insights on this?
Use New GMAIL App
The new GMAIL app can handle your gmail account plus any other POP / IMAP and even exchange I believe. I have my Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and Icloud all setup in the new updated app. Much better than the stock moto email app. Deletion works too. Just a thought:highfive:

Gmail update showed up for me today. Immediately switched out of the Email app. Not sure it will fix what ails ya but, it's a legit contender to make it happen.
still the same in gmail and moto email

I tried the new gmail in both pop3 and imap configuration. When setting it up to never delete from server, it still deltes from server in both gmail and moto email in both pop3 and imap.
Over on turbo moto forum, it seems that moto is now looking into this issue.
Be aware.
Yup, the new Gmail app deletes them too.
Looks like this has been a problem with Google based email since kitkat. Sure glad Google is worried about it... /s
