I upgraded from an 8525 and was used to that power button being easy to find without looking. The Tilt's button always made me have to look for it to press it.
I fixed this situation with a little tube of $0.99 3D paint from Michaels (arts&crafts store). I've used this paint before (glow in the dark paint on my snooze button) so I tried it on the Tilt. Works great!
take a look at the results....
Great idea!
I have the same issue. Would have been cool if they put a little bump on it during manufacturing, but your idea fixes that. Gotta head out to Michaels!
Thanks!

Cool glad you thought of this fix, I was trying to think of a way to do something along this line but everything I had was either white or clear.
Great idea...I hate Michaels. I'll sneak down without telling the wife.
Great idea! This was one of my biggest complaint about the Tilt.
You gave it a "nippie". Haha!
Glad I found this....
I did this. Keep in mind it doesn't totally harden. It hardens into a rubbery mass. It's fine for using your thumb but if you were to use your finger nail it would dig in. So the bigger your "nipple" the more squishy it'll be. Haha.
It is an improvement though and I got mine for .78 cents. I'm thinking about adding a nipple to my Touch. I also tried doing the same thing with "Gorilla glue" but the results were not that great. It foams too much and actually doesn't harden as hard as I thought it would. I think good old fashioned super glue would harden into a more plastic like substance but it would be clear. Also it would probably be harder to scratch off if need be.
I would ultimately like to find something that would stick on with adhesive on one side and the other side would be a smooth hard round plastic half bubble. Still looking.
Ultimately what I've been trying to do is not use that awful power button at all. I have AEButton plus to shut off the device with long holds of start and ok. And I tried using S2U2 with keylock off. But S2U2 doesn't play nice with AEB. Whereas when I power off with AEB by holding start or ok it doesn't alway register it or something because when I wake it up by hitting any button(not the power button) it doesn't go to the lock screen...
Can we just get the Treo keyguard program ported over and been done with this.?.?!
I dont know if someone of you have the same problem, but one day I took my hd7 out of my pocket for taking a pic and saw this rare scratch oxide color on my camera button... I always have it in a case, and i use it in a pocket where only is my phone.. I dont know, it is like the crome paint is falling ... I dont take a lot of pics.. so i cant undestand....
It's not rare.
It's about build quality.
Because i got this thing after bought 1 month (and the volume button next in the few month).
I ask the other people and they got this too.
when my screen died on me... i sent the hd7 to htc, they changed the buttons as well for me with the screen....
I also have it
Could anyone post some pictures? My HD7 has been in an Otterbox so the buttons are still fully chrome. My only gripe is that since this was a refurbished replacement, there appears to be some paint buildup on the camera button resembling a small bump.
it's a shame.
i got my scratched and oxided button after 1 month of purchasing the phone,
i thought that HTC make its phones with high quality, but i was wrong,
HTC made this phone with low level of quality. at least it's true about it's button ).
well.. thanks everyone now I know It's about build quality.... i owned a hd2 and the quality is amazing... but hd7 ...
I wouldn't say HTC's build quality is amazing apart from the HD2 (just glass and metal overall, but had the dead touchscreen issue). They always seem to cheap out on some parts such as the faux chrome or buttons on the HD7 or end up with a crapload of issues such as dust under the screen/FFC, creakiness, superior/inferior screens on the same device, overheating, touchscreen issues, etc. (Mytouch 4G comes into mind). They do however manage to make the device feel like a solid brick.
Hey there. I bought this phone today and I love it. However, I have a couple of couple gripes with it, but am not entirely sure whether it's just with my phone or the Incredible S in general.
First off, the volume buttons appears to be flimsy. I mean, yes, it's very thin and I'm not totally used to it yet, but I've noticed you can moved it from side to side slightly. This is the same for the power button, only not as noticeable.
Secondly, the soft keys. I get that they have an LCD display to make the buttons rotate, but on the search key it seems a lot brighter and a bit blurry, and I'm able to see the rotated magnifying glass underneath the non-rotated button. It's not as bright as the 'standard' non-rotated button, but it is noticeable. When I rotate the phone and the buttons rotate I'm unable to see the non-rotated magnifying glass. This is also the same, though not as bad for the back button.
And finally, the camera. I'm don't know whether this is a software/app/wifi issue, but I tested out Tango and Fring using the front facing camera and the back camera, and called my friend. He has an iPhone 4 and he came through clear. I, on the other hand (according to him at least) came through blocky and 'stuttery', with lots of pauses. Fring was worse, as the sound wasn't good for either of us, but the video seemed poor on my end.
So yeah, are my complaints common to all Incredible S'? If so, then I won't be too bothered, but I'm kinda worrying a bit because I bought the last IS in the shop, and when the salesman opened up the box to show me the phone, it didn't have any of the stickers on, and the screen had fingermarks on. He said that it was brand new, but they had used it to show another customer. I got home and tried turning it on, and there was no charge left in the battery. I looked in the box and all the chargers etc were unopened, though.
So yeah, what do you think?

Yes it is normal for the volume rocker to rock in all directions however don't let it fool you it is very sturdy and longer lasting than the power button. Never had an issue with the volume button however the power button will require more pressure to push over time.
As for the soft keys they do blur out and it all depends what angle your viewing them from.
The. Camera on. The front of the. IncS is a piece of crap only at 1mp, I'm not sure. What the iphones resolution is but I can guarantee that it's high seeing as they advertise video calls.

Another thing I've just noticed; again, am wondering whether this is same for everyone or just me (after the whole no stickers on the phone thing with fingerprints on the screen), but the micro USB port is kinda loose. If you tap it with your smallest finger, or if the charger is in it and move it slightly, the USB port moves.
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a bit concerned if I've paid a a fair amount of money for a 'new' phone, when it's not and there's things wrong with it.
Thanks.
Everything seems pretty normal. Bearing in mind it is not a closed case like the iphone series, therefore you have to expect movement with parts of the phone.

My phone. Came the same way dude and yes the usb port moves on all of them it adds a bit of flexibility so it's not as easy to damage.
There is nothing to worry about. There was no plastic on mine and there was finger prints on it. The sales people generally boot them up once to avoid a waiting period when setting up your phone for the first time. They boot them up than shut them down so they can boot up fast using fast boot. The less time waiting for the phones the more time spent selling phones.

Oh okay dude! Thanks for the replies. I think I look for faults when they're not there lol.
So yeah cheers for clearing that up.
Can someone please comment on the responsiveness, travel, click-y-ness, feedback and consistency of the physical buttons?
This might seem trivial, but this is one of the reasons I have never kept an HTC phone...the buttons are so gushy/squishy, whatever you wanna call it. I like to feel it click. Apple has nailed this, so has BB with the new Z10.
Any comments? Thanks!

The HTC One has only soft capacitative buttons, so you will get the vibration feedback and probably the strength of the feedback can be adjusted.
I am speaking about the physical buttons, I.e. power and volume buttons. I am not concerned about the capacitive ones.

The power button feels flush, responsive but I didn't really feel that I pressed it if that makes sense. Not as deep set as my Desire HD one is/has become.

Ya, makes sense, but is totally disappointing. It makes it difficult to lock it without intentionally looking and pressing. I used the 8x for a brief period and had that same experience, it was never easy to quickly lock it on the way to putting it in your pocket.
How about the volume rockers? Can you find them easily without looking? e.g. when adjusting the volume in your pocket.
Hi,
I just recently became a proud owner of this phone, but the first thing I noticed right off the bat was that the buttons are not as clicky and tactile as I'm used to being, coming from the OnePlus 6 I can definitely say the button feels a bit stiff and quite mushy, I'm using it with the default silicone case. Is it just me?

yes. From 1+7 pro. this phone has tiny and stiff buttons.
Buttons are not stiff. Remove rhe case and see for yourself. It is the case that is the problem
Nope. Not stiff.
The buttons are considered well built and strong with no rattling or moving parts.
You might be used to old, low quality buttons like the OnePlus 6 where the button will be pressed with just a slight touch..and that is not a good thing.
