Just thought I'd point out a full NES emulator on the market which works perfectly at full speed with sound and saving state. It's called Nesroid. I've tried it with a few games and it seems to work perfectly, although the sound is a little static-y.
Yeah I saw that this morning. I was waiting on a little more feedback before I bought it. Im looking forward to some Captain Skyhawk...
Yeah, I tried to buy it with my dad's credit card, but i stucked at "validating credit card" or something like that (i'm german) so i mailed the developer asking him for e.g. paypal .. still waiting for answer <.< GNAH GIMME ZELDA

I posted some feedback on it here

**Nesoid
Saw this posted on here and HAD to test it out...!! But when searching for Nesroid, I received no results. It's actually under Nesoid (no R) But regardless, I am very impressed. There are comments on the market page for it stating there is NO sound..well that's not true. I tested FF1, FF2, Kirby's Adventure, Zelda, and Megaman, all work flawlessly!! Full speed, sound, everything. ^-^ Keeping it, worth the $1.99..this is what I've been waiting for.. now hopefully, there will be more on a Genesis or SNES emulator..though I know an SNES one is in the works and should be out by end of June... crap..I don't have the link, but the developers are very focused on speed, sound, and save states..! I will find that link...eek.
you mean, this one:
http://www.supergnes.com/
Yeah it works well. I guess why some don't have sound is because of the lack of Open GL drivers in their firmware (HAHAHAHHAHAHA! screw them ). There is lite (free) version that seems to be the same thing... I'm kinda pissed because there seems to be no difference between the two! At this point... I normally would refund and get the free (exact duplicate!!) one but I feel bad because I have waited for this since I got my G1. Hummm.... the Touch Pro 2 is coming to T-MO USA in July and I was gonna go back to WM (keep my Dream as a back up) but it gets easier to decide not to with each day of fantastic Android innovation, port, or emulator. Hell, it's good to have choices! Now T-Mobile is finally giving us MANY more (cough, cough, Samsung Android w/ 8GB internal memory coming in fall)
Looks like my battery life will suffer severely thanks to this app. Sound gets choppy when the phone starts accessing data, which sucks, but it is still awesome
works on jf 1.5.... The sound for me doesn't work but every game I have played on it works 100% This is a dev who knows what a good product is!
its about time a decent emulator came out, if ScummVM works fine i dont see why all the other emulators till now had to suck...

Maybe you should try to write a high performance emulator in Java. Then you'd find out.
Freedomcaller:
You have no clue what an emulator, OR scummvm is, do you?
An emulator simulates all low-level calls, and basicly pretends it's a whole other computer... and that's while running all the other services and apps in the background.
That is not an easy thing to do, and especially not in pure interpreted java. That's why native/compiled code is probably used in that emulator.
ScummVM is *NOT* an emulator. SCUMM is an interpreted language, by lucas-art.
What ScummVM does is basicly just read some sort of script, and match the commands in the script, to local calls.
ScummVM is (relatively) easy to implement, and doesn't need a whole lot of horse-power (The NintendoDS runs it, and i think the GBA does too... and the GBA runs at 16MHz, with 384kB of RAM)
this emulator works great, i tested 5 nes rom and they all runs and sounds perfectly.
this is from 1.5 H build.
the graphic looks cool when g1 screen is so small.
now lets give us SNES emulator please

This emulator is so fast in fact, I suspect this app has a component of native code in it that is not Java at all. Doom had a piece of native code in it.

This is great!
Any chance buying the emulator for the ones outside T-Mobile networks?
u don't need tmobile?!
The lite version only plays one preloaded rom - Chip N Dale. I'm sure you could mess with the .apk to play other roms, but the work involved to make a good NES emulator is worth 2 bucks to me.
Well, let me try again then.. Is there any way to get this outside the market, as I live in a country that cannot browse any priced applications on the market.
Edit: I have no problem paying for it via paypal or something, it's just unavailable for me over the market and I really want this !

This will allow you to browse priced apps on the market:

However you'll still need to attach a credit card to your Google Checkout to use it.

Hello All,
I was hoping if anyone can post their experiences using thier emulator apps.
Been using 'Gameboid' for a few days now. Im pretty impressed it runs the games it does. Sound syncing is not 100 percent but doable or you can even turn off your sound. I can confirm Advance Wars works VERY well and is a must have if you use the program. I am overall satisfied with it and hopefully will continue to see more compatibility with more updates.
**PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY GAME DOWNLOAD SITES AS THIS THREAD MAY BE SUBJECT TO CLOSE IF YOU DO SO... Thank you.
I use Snesoid religiously. Love it.
i use gameboid and snes emulator regulary buyed.
snes go well, you can play but without sound because it eat more resources.
gameboid go, but it's a little bit slow, and it's a problem when you play games like micro machines, mario etc because you have to take an immediately responce, and you don't have it
i use a dream with cyanogen mod 4.2.5

Theres a Genesis emulator out there too but I havent used it yet..
Hoping theres a few more people out there that can offer us more reviews on these apps.
There will NEVER be a game that will be an Android game as elaborate as a SNES, GBA and or NES one.. never.......

nes, genesis, snes, and gameboid emulators all work great, i've played quite a few games on all of them. scummvm is another great emulator (of sorts) and i've been playing return to zork, discworld series, 7th guest and beneath a steel sky with them.
still excited about gaming on this platform and it will only become better in the future.
If you like point & click games and missed out on many oldschool classic (or, wth, even want to play them again) i would recomend scumm. It works great on android device, especially if you have a trackball (kinda slugish it is, but for precise aming - priceless)
I've read about Android Arcade Emulator (capcom, neo-geo arcade games) but I'm not using it (those games where made for playing with mates - kinda hard on small device ), apparently it runs the more famous games without lag.
I also use gameboid. works great.

It depends on which game it is, its not 100 percent compatible yet. Also make sure the bios file is not compressed by any programs (ex. winrar, winzip and or power archiver)
Ive downloaded some games that force closes it as well. What I did was simply delete the game and threw another one into the SD card.
Report back and let me know your results and we can both figure out another solution if you cant play another game..
The best emulator out right now is ggNES. It runs NES games at full speed with sound on. No slow down, no errors, just perfect.
I like the xxxoid emulators, but the app author isn't making them run more efficiently, he's adding other stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's even updating, but full speed emulation can be done, and ggNES had a free version to boot.
ggNES is a definite download and is running great on my G1.

Issue is, While RPGs and Tactic based games. (Yes I love advance wars) Are great on the emulators. Games like Star Sigma etc are harder.. even mario is hard. Seems action games are just harder to manage that fast paced stuff on the emulators. Anyone else notice that?
Or have they got better? Curious about the snes one tho if that runs smooth.
Edit: Just read others.. I agree I use gbaroid and nesroid and while the dev makes updates.. the speed seems to be the complaint.. but I really dont wanna buy ggnes just for speed after I paid for one.. heh..

ggNES is currently the best at playing Nes roms. Try the ggNES lite and see how it works out for you, if you like it why not buy it?
Snesoid runs good at least on my phone. Its also dependent on how many apps are using up your memory. Get Advanced Task Manager to fix that problem prior to using any emulator.
Ok Ill give it a shot. I use Taskiller pro personally. Works well I think. Unless you know something works better? Advanced Task Manager I have as well.
Maybe its decent enough to play River City Ransom. =)

It got pulled due to their servers being overloaded. It should be back up eventually.
This is the only game that I've seen that is truly impressive. The graphics are amazing for a mobile game (wouldn't look out of place as an xbox live arcade title). The default controls (auto accelerate with left, right and brake) are perfect. If this game came out on PC I'd play it.
I'd love to try it out, but it's not in the Market. When I found a QR code for it, I just got a "file not found" message. I even tried using Market Access. I'm willing to pay for it, but its lack of availability through mainstream channels may force me to look for it elsewhere.

Found an update on the server issue: http://www.polarbit.com/2010/10/update-reckless-racing/
I hope the gameplay makes up for what Polarbit as a company lacks in class and professionalism. They posted a picture of Johnny Cash giving the middle finger on their website because people are running pirated copies. Maybe if they didn't take it off the market... I'm sure people would pay for it if they actually could. On top of that, they're basically blaming their overloaded servers on the number of pirated copies floating around, which is a bull**** cop out.

Actually, I did find one through other means, but liked the game enough that I bought it today, since I was finally able to do so. Who's to say if other people are as reputable as I. I would bet that server outage cost them a lot of sales.
I just flat out bought it because of the 24hr return policy but this game is worth it.
Bought it... haven't had much opportunity to play it yet but the minute or so I tried it looks really good.
just bought this game and it's pretty awesome with nice graphics.
So I'm sure almost all of you were dying to try out some of these Xbox Live games MS has been boasting about for months. And now that we have them a seclection of launch titles at our fingertips I'm curious what everyone besides me thinks of them so far?
I personally downloaded each one as a trial first to get a sense of how the presentation of these games were, how responsive and intuitive the controls were and if they were really worth the $5-7 price tag.
In the end I removed a few and kept a handful which I felt were my best choices overall.
I selected my top choices as:
- de Blob Revolution
- Flight Control
- Max & The Magic Marker
- MONOPOLY
- Need for Speed Underground
- Rocket Riot
- The Harvest
- Twin Blades
- Unite (best free game)
Now I will say some of the games appear to be just ports from other phones, some appear to have slightly improved graphics while some seem the same as their HD2 version (Monopoly & Sims 3). I found the best looking games in the marketplace to be de Blob Revolution, Max & The Magic Marker and Rocket Riot. Twin Blades is great too but looks a little dull almost as if it's not meant to be played at 480x800.
What do you all think so far? Do you think the early batch of released games is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the quality of games we'll be seeing or do you all think we're seeing the full potential of what it's capable of?
I am in no ways a fan on the iPhone but will say that in comparison of quality of games on the iOS they have some pretty ridiculous games. If anyone has seen the build quality of Rage HD on iPhone it makes me cross my fingers that WP7 is capable of the same if not better.
However I've seen screen shots and footage of the upcoming game Ilomilo and it looks like it should show some better potential for much better looking games.
I wish they would make monopoly free.
However, with Xbox Live coming to our smartphones now, the possibilities are endless, especially with WP7. So I think games like Assassins Creed and Need for Speed make other platforms look so outdated.
In recent news, I heard Google Android is getting a bit intimidated by the WP7 update coming in January.
WP7 FOR LYFE!!!!!
WE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Multiplayer support, MS needs it now. I am not asking for anything real time but games like UNO or Monopoly should at least have turn by turn multiplayer. I feel that a platform based on XBOX Live should at the minimum have turn by turn.
I agree with you both. Other OS's are looking outdated (except for the iOS).. However I'm hoping that WP7 will be able to compete soon with the visual quality of iOS games. I don't know if it's hardware limitations that's holding WP7 back on this one but they need to step it up to truly compete.
And yes MS does need to impliment true XBOX Live multiplayer into their games ASAP. I recalled the iOS having some games that you could actually play multiplayer via bluetooth I believe. I mean if you can do it on the PSP you should be able to do it here. Local multiplayer via wi-fi, turn based on the same device is mandatory, and even some other kind of true Xbox Live experience is a must.

Well it is currently their claim to fame, I would at least like to see it used. As far as visual quality check out ilomilo. These phones can pump out some nice graphics but its up to us to make this platform successful enough to pull in these developers.
I believe most of these developers already recognize the ease of use as far as developing games and apps for wp7. In a recent article, developers voiced out about wp7's flexibility and how using VB has made it very easy for them to build and deploy apps.
And BTW, there are compatibility issues using VB 2010 for development. You have the option to build your own app.

Other OS look outdated? Android has the same assassins creed HD and has for months and has a beta port of rage HD up that easily rivals iOS. Then a few days later their site says its a timed exclusive. I was pretty peed off, he was nice about it and said he didn't know until last minute. Such a lovely game though.

I do not believe even for a second that there would exist a fully-functioning PS2 emulator for Android devices. A Core 2 Duo can't run any PS2 games playably, there's no way a mobile device with ARM-processor would either.
Reviews either suck or sing it's praises? Sounds like developer and co giving good ratings and actual users giving actual ratings?
EDIT: Ah, just checked. Developer website down, everything just reeks of fraud.
Tbh, I do not understand people who even ask these kinds of things. Where's your common sense? How could a mobile device with a fraction of a proper PC's performance run a PS2 emulator when PC's themselves are struggling with that?

I wasn't comparing an n64 and a ps2 great android developers that you are. I was making a point that if a low end cheap phone could run a n64 and dreamcast emulator that was said not to be able to by know it all great ones like y'all then a high end phone could possibly run a ps2 one. There has been tons of things done on android that "was not possible" according to geniuses like you that has been done. You tards get off my thread, you are not helping nor contributing any help. While probable, it is highly unlikely that a PS2 emulator is even possible even with the right software and development. It is just too taxing of an emulation. My high end desktop can run certain games great but then struggles to render other games. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice though, I've been wanting to play some PS2 rpgs on the go for a very long time.

Listen, I don't know what your problem is, but use your head and stop thinking that since you're on the internet you can act like a badass. The fact is, the Nintendo DS emulator runs like ****. N64oid also only plays a handful of first-party titles. Hell I bet your computer that you're on right now can't even emulate PS2 well.
The Note doesn't even play n64 games better than a single core. The same graphical glitches are present.
A ps2 emulator is NOT realistic, and you aren't even contributing to your own thread by saying "stfu" at every corner.

That's the same thing I said on the previous page: there is no way a current-gen ARM-device could run PS2 games at full speed. The Exynos/Snapdragon chips used in our Notes cannot compete with even just one core of a Core2Duo let alone both cores, and yet my previous PC was a Core2Duo+HD3770 and it still couldn't run PS2 games playably.
But the OP acts like a spoiled little brat and keeps telling people to shut up when told about that. Not terribly constructive behaviour, let alone mature.

Hoesntly if u want to talk to someone with some brains id check out the developer yongzh from slideme.org or the guys that developed fpse the ps1 emulator. Yongzh has always been very kind to me and I've been in corespondance (spelling?) with him for years now.

Handful of first party titles..? I can play over 40 on my g2 without a problem... there are probably only about 50 good games on every system in the first place.

So you consider "working" to play at 3fps and load three games? Yongzh is a stand up guy but that doesn't make the Nintendo DS emulator work any better or a ps2 emulator more feasible.
