[Q] Successful Backup/Restore Stock? - Nook Color General

I'm just asking this bc it keeps failing for me, has anyone been able to successfully backup AND restore a rooted stock of the NC off an CFW sd? I like floating btwn the HC and NC, but whenever I go to restore, my boot craps out on me and I get stuck at the silver N. Or is there a decent dual boott that's working now?
Thanks~

[Q] Make an image of my UNROOTED nexus one ?

Hello,
I plane on root my nexus one, I had it since its release and now I see some limits with my unrooted phone. But before that I would like to backup everything and when I think backup of a computer, I think image (acronis, ghost, wim, etc.) but is it possible to do the same with my phone ? Even if it is still not rooted ? If not, how should I backup it ?
Best regards,
rXp>!<
You have to root before you can take an image (called a NAND backup)
Ok thanks, so how do you think I should backup ? Copy/past of my SDCARD ?

Install ROM Manager from the market and use it's backup feature.

No way to do it unless you are rooted, or have an unlocked bootloader.

Questions before I upgrade to ICS

Okay so I have a HTC Velocity and the ICS update has dropped (YAAAAY!)
1. If I install ICS, can I still get root?
2. If I backup all my **** from gingerbread using titanium (besides the sense settings) will all the apps just restore all good, or do I need to start over with all my games (PLEASE!)
3. I'm planning on reverting back to stock and then doing the update OTA, I'm thinking this is the most sensible way to achieve the update, once I get the ICS installed, can I still install clockwork recovery?
Thanks for any help!
1. PG did released the rooted ICS version for Velocity
2. No - apps backed up from GB don't work for ICS, you can try but it might mess up your system.
3. Yes, look in the development section there should be a thread [DEV] for Clockwork Recovery for ICS.

Hope that answered all your questions.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the app/games part there. Otherwise I woulda been pissed bout losing my world in Minecraft
Just think, if HTC released an OTA update that "broke" all of your apps people would be flipping out at HTC, Google, and the App Devs and the whole world would explode into rage; apps were ICS ready since December if not sooner. If you run some legacy apps (final versions that havent been updated in who knows how long) then use you could have some issues.
Ill give em a crack
I usually restore all apps with no data then go back into TB and restore just data for a few specific apps. Works fine for me.

I do the same... Other times where I've installed all, with data, in some cases I've encountered dramas, but by just doing a few necessities it's been fine

Well... I solved the problem anyway... doing a wonderful job of paying complete lack of attention to the process I erased everything on my internal SD card anyway... including my titanium backup and all that fun stuff.... *sigh*
now I have rooted ICS though
but the launcher has no text outputting on the icons and clock... so I dont think I will be too attached to this build hah

[Q] Frozen Launcher Nexus one, now wont boot.

Hi all
This is my first post so please excuse my ignorance and point me in the right direction if I'm in the wrong area. I will try to be as clear as possible.
I have a stock N1 At&T unlocked....
I kept running out of memory (low mem warning) so I rooted my phone.
Using App2sd I moved as many as my apps to sd card ...problem solved.
In an attempt to perhaps gain quicker boots I froze a few apps including the stock launcher as I was using go launcher.. No issues or problems.
However... My problem came when I moved Go launcher to the sd card to gain space....
Now the phone wont boot , it just continually shows the animated "x" nexus logo.
My reasoning is, now the phone cant load the "frozen" stock launcher and cant find Go launcher for booting on the sd card , so It's stuck in a searching cycle.
Question.. Is there a non destructive way to recover from this? I have TiTanium Bkup free which I backed up 2 days ago.
If I do a "recovery" will it un root my phone and unfreeze my apps?
Can I unfreeze my stock launcher from boot mode?
I can seem to find any thread that comes close apart from doing a recovery
I thank you all in advance for your time and your patience in this matter..
I would love your help and advice.
Just flash your ROM again without doing a full wipe. Reinstall apps2sd. All your apps and data should be still there.

Thank you
Thank you cpm !!
Again excusing my ignorance....
When you mean "flash" do you mean to use the restore feature on power up?
My next step after this was to flash a CM9 ics rom for a N1 I see U are using one... are there any issues ? could you give me the link?
Again many thanks for you assistance.... much appreciated
I will let you know how it goes
If you want CM9 then look at BCM ROM in the Dev forum. You can download it there.
Only thing not working is video camera. You can take pics, but not video. Might be sorted over time. Otherwise a very stable ROM.
Note you'll also have to install Blackrose to repartition your phone.

HTC One complete backup?

Hi all, basically I'm changing my HTC One for a black one and basically just want to back it all up to make a restore on the black one later.
backing up apps isnt important but images, contacts and messages would be vital.
Its rooted if that helps, running custom rom (Android Revolution HD)
Whats the best way??
Thanks
Apologies for the n00b question!!
If you are rooted then using titanium backup would be the best solution
You can always just use the stock HTC transfer tool on the setup of the new phone to get your stuff back over as well.

Helium
You can just do a nandroid backup, and copy everything in your SD. Then on your new unit, root that sucka and paste back everything you copied, then restore from your nandroid
