When I turn on my phone at work, the wireless connection (open unsecured) connects and works for a few minutes. After some time, it disconnects and without rebooting my phone, I cannot establish a wlan connection.
This is oly the case at work. At home it works flawlessly, but it is another network kind.
Anyone found a solution to this problem? I saw a lot of threads about this but no good answers.
I am using duttys v3.
Not sure. Perhaps there is some sort of time out on your work network for inactive devices, or dhcp ip releases or something weird and "networky" like that?
Or perhaps your phone is going into a power save mode if you are not using it?
Just general ideas, I don't have this particular problem
I dont think many people have this issue! you must not have a setting correct, try downloading KaiserTweak and adjusting the timeout and also take a look at the routers settings I find it strange that a business would have an open network for security issues

I work at the university, and the network is unsecure. You have to enter login and pass at a webpage to gain access.
I cannot reconnect at all once ive been disconnected. So it should have anything to do with kaisertweak or timeouts.
I have tried every setting and combination. I have tried to select work/internet settings. Ive tried to tell the phone its a hidden network / not hidden network. I have tried to use power save / performance mode. Ive tried to turn off 3g, bluetooth, phone (everything basically).
When I tap connect, it says connecting and then it immediately goes to "active" and tries to connect to another network (which I dont have access to).

I have worked out the problem.. first if its a WPA enterprise connection, make sure its set to WORK and not INTERNET setting. it will work. my only works with schaps versions not duttys
on my old pda (Acer N50 premium) I had the same problem with my unis network... it would only work (if at all) for a few minutes then nada... but at home it was absolutely fine, quick stayed on and totally responsive... I wonder if it has something to do with the rubbish way unis run their IT...?

Many do not have this issue.
According to what's being said here by the indiviuals with issues, you're having problems connecting to a certain network...not all networks.
If it were all networks; your device, settings, equipment or rom would be the common denomenator. Since it's one network, it's that network.
Just because a network is or appears to be available, that doesn't mean that you can connect to it.

no, it could be the phone software. Lets says that a string is added to the registry if the network you are connected to disconnects you; a string that makes the phone cancel connections to the network. And lets assume that the network disconnected you because there is a hidden firewall in the phone software that blocks ping requests, thus making the network believe that the connection is lost and thus disconnecting you. Then we have a moment 22, which is basically something wrong with the phone.
As some readers already pointed out in this "wasted thread", when changing the rom (in one case) or when changing settings from "internet" to "work" (in the second case) there is a great possibility that this problem in fact has to do with phone software and not network.
In my case, it just happens to be neither of the mentioned solutions or any solution that I have found in other threads.
One thing you may want to check is that your wifi is set to max performance. The issue may also be that there is a DNS cache issue, in most cases it can be resolved by manually reconfiguring the connection.
I have been successful in configuring my phone's WLAN to connect to everything from open APS's, WEP, WPA, RADIUS and AP's with proxy redirects, so I can tell you that as with most cases, it's human error.
I have tried max performance.
How do I resolve a dns cache issue? Manually reconfiguring the network did not help (only thing that helps is a reboot).

Hi,
I have just got the Diamond and I have two main problem.
1) Although I have connected the Diamond to my Home wireless network, there is no data transfer. Opera can not open pages, Youtube can not start even I can not update weather?
2) When I connect the Diamond to the Laptop / PC, all PC's and Laptops connected to my home network (wireless) drop from the connection and never connect again?
Thank you for your kind help...
I have same problem with my Diamond.
1) go to: startmenu->settings->connections->Wi-Fi->networkcard/adapter->and make sure that it says "my networkcard/adapter connects to internet"Also at the same tab open IEEE 802.11b/g Compitable Wi-Fi Adapter and try to a static ip matching the one your pc uses. (not sure about it since i can't recreate the problem atm..)
2) Try the thing I suggested in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417664 (plz use search next time)

Thanks for your reply, but both of solutions do not work for me...
Any other suggestion?
Thanks for your help..
Try turning on wifi, then go in LAN WIRELESS and change in "improved performance"
All of this do not work for me too...
Go to Wireless LAN settings and there to power mode and set yo best battery.... that worked for me.
in "settings => connections => WiFi" is "Connected". In "Wireless Lan" there is Connected too... In log on my router there is MAC adress of Diamond as associated and authorized. All seems OK. But on Diamond do not work any internet connection (Weather, web, etc...). With Active Sync works fine. Laptop with the same settings works fine. But Diamond with WiFi... no way :-(
Any other suggestions?
Same problem after i made ROM update from 1.7... to 1.93. before works fine. no other software is istalled.
Been having an issue with connecting to my wireless network also for the last week. My phone is from orange in the UK. My wireless router is an Dlink 614+ on Virgin cable broadband.
The Diamond would connect intermittantly but then say 'not avaiable' after a period of time, or when trying to reconnect after diasbling/enabling wi-fi in the comms manager. Also, after restarting my router the device would connect for a while but not seem to 'hold' it's connection.
When the device was 'connected' I could not get opera/youtube to load a page, even though I could see the diamond in my router's log showing it connected with a leased ip address. What made it so annoying was that every other wireless mobile device/laptop I have owned has connected without any problem at all, leading me to beleive there was a problem with the phone. Again, this was rather frustrating as the phone was detecting avaliable networks but just not 'holding' the connection nor 'using' the connection in opera/explorer etc.
After searching on xda-developers and other forums for a possible known issue, I tried all the various suggestions including;
i/ increasing to best performance under power mode in Wireless LAN settings
ii/ Hard reset of router (even though other wireless devices were connected fine)
iii/ trying static rather than dynamic ip for my diamond in router settings
iv/ disabling any security/encryption on my router
v/ entering DNS settings in manually into my diamond
vi/ changing 'connect to' under wi-fi neteorks to 'Work' rather than 'the internet'
vii/ tried various roms
and other suggestions I had read about - all which didn't make a difference!
I was about to send the diamond back to Orange (here in the UK) but decided to give it one last go and change my router. I bought a Netgear WGT624 for 25 quid from PC today world and my diamond connected
straight away without an issue, and opera/youtube/messager all connected straight away to the internet. I have not lost connection once. So thats how I resolved it - obviously my device did not like 802.11b (on the original dlink router) even though all previous smartphones have connected fine and the diamond's wireless adapter is labelled b/g.
Hope that stops anyone wasting a week like I did, I would try it out on another router before making any decisions because the chip in the diamond seems a lot more picky to what it connects to than anything I've used in the past!
cheers
Linksys WAG54 is OK, Freebox is not perfect
It really seems to depend on the WiFi router.
I've had probems with my French Freebox (my ISP's ADSL+wifi router) using WPA2 AES. It would work fine, for half an hour maybe, then it would stop. It says it's connected but there is no data transfer. You can switch WLAN off and on, soft reset the phone... nothing will do. Then it will work again later on.
I downgraded encryption to TKIP and i experienced the same problem.
But then I've tried my old Linksys WAG54G router, using the exact same encryption protocol and key and it works perfectly (for hours)!
I've also tested free access (Paris public Wifi, Mc Donald's...) and they work fine.
As my ISP wifi box does not let me have a look at all the settings (beacon time, etc.) it is very difficult to tell what makes it not-so-compatible with my Diamond... But there must be something.
I'm getting WIFI connect..disconnect.continously (advanced settings set to NEVER off)
I just upgraded to a Virgin Media Superhub (WIFI and Cable modem built in)
I set the WIFI to "WPA PSK (auto)"
is this causing the problem
I am trying "WPAPSK2 AES" today to see if it fixes it?
Me and my house mate have a galaxy S and both phones are doing it.
is it my WIFI router or is it the Galaxy S's at fault here
apologies if this has been covered, i did a search but wasn't sure what to search for about this.
Cheers
@anyone
I tried WIFI tether and WIFI fixer apps but no joy
I had a WIFI connection before with my Netgear router in WEP. The super hub is a netgear router, i cant understand whats causing the problems.
its just connecting and disconnecting .
when ui set it up from scratch sometimes it works until i go out of range, then goes the connect disconnect route...
Also I unplugged the modem and turned SSID on (it found it and stayed locked) and then SSID off (it appeared to keep connection) ...? is this a clue as to why it keeps connect disconnect?
Any help welcome cheers
i solved this but I dont know how
i set up both to
WIFI to "WPA PSK (auto)
phone to wpa psk2
and then revealed the ssid in the modem. left it for a bit, then hid my SSID
it's worked properly for a few days now.
maybe it needed to do something to lock on?
....now if i could get my MMS working another story
I have the same problem... It's driving me crazy
all i know is this
get rid of juice defender if it's on
Turning The Virgin super hub on and off solves the problem temporarily.. faster than reboot the phone.
if your phone isn't rooted, don't enter the WIFI settings twice it can corrupt the wifi complexly needing a master reset!
also i set the Virgin hub to
WPA auto Broadcast SSID
also on Virgin Hub
settings
advanced settings
content filtering services
untick firewall and ip flood
i think broadcast SSID on your WIFI unit fixes it

are your setting for the phone and WIFI the same as the ones i posted above on the other posts?
I flashed CM7 and it works perfectly

give it a try...(you need to be rooted)
do you know your firmware version? i have the same problem. ive tested and the wifi sleep policy doesnt work at all!
my wifi reconnects every 59 seconds with sleep set to never. its the same with sleep set to never when plugged in. sleep when screen turns off doesnt work and is exactly the same, reconnects every 59 seconds and doesnt sleep at all. not as far as ive seen (watched for around a quarter of an hour before getting very bored). I dont know if this is anything to do with it but if you watch the WIFI scanning the Connection resets after every 10th scan. Im using a Belkin router but as said ive tried on several different WiFI connections and the drop out is always the same.
im using jvt firmware and semaphore kernel.
my phone was froyo before and wireless was fine before flashing.
ive spent a week on google with this. there are hundreds of threads and even vids on youtube. as yet though no fix.
ive changed router settings at home. with no improvement. the reconnection happens whenever im on wifi and i cant see mcdonalds letting me rummage through their router.
As far as i can figure the problem started in the jvs firmware. I havent tried jvs but there are a couple of google results saying that since updating to jvs wireless reconnects constantly.
same as above......
HELP!!!!!!!
Its driving me mad!
FIXED at home. Changed Belkin Routers Lease Time from "Forever" to "1 Hour". Guess outside connections will depend on what the Routers Lease times are set up as.
However the "Stop WiFi when screen turns off" still doesnt turn off Wifi at all (as far as I can see, as now tested for over an hour).

Hello everybody,
I've a very strange problem with my wifi: Sometimes if my Kindle Fire HD is in standby it seams to block all other devices connected on the same band as the kindle. When i Switch on the kindle then, everything goes back to normal.
If I connect my kindle to the 5GHz band and it goes to standby, all devices on the 5GHz band doesn't work after a random period of time. They are connected, but cannot even ping the router. Devices on 2,4GHz are working normal. When I switch on the kindle, the connection of the other devices immediately starts to work again.
If I connect my kindle to the 2,4GHz band, the same happens for the 2,4GHz devices and the 5GHz devices are working normal.
My router is a Netgear WNDR3800. At first, I thought it's a problem with the router, so I've done a factory reset on it already.
Someone else experience this behaivor and/or have a Resolution/Workaround for this?

Yes, this is a known Bug when running firmware older than 1.0.0.38. You need to upgrade to Firmware
Version Number 1.0.0.40, you may obtain the latest Firmware from Netgear:
http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/Disclaimer.aspx?redirecturl=http://netgeardownload.registria.com/single_page_registration?product[sku]=wndr3800&download_url=http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNDR3800/WNDR3800-V1.0.0.40.zip
Download WNDR3800-V1.0.0.40.zip to your desktop, extract to WNDR3800-V1.0.0.40. Inside the WNDR3800-V1.0.0.40
folder will be the latest firmware. You will then login to the Netgear WNDR3800 through a web browser. The
default address is usually http://192.168.1.1/ or http://www.routerlogin.com/ the default username is admin and
the default password is password. If you changed the password, use whatever password you setup. Once you
are logged into Genie Basic, you need to Select Advanced > Administration > Firmware Update. Then click
on Browse, selecting the file file inside WNDR3800-V1.0.0.40 ending with .img
WARNING!
When uploading firmware to the router, do not interrupt the Web browser by closing the window, clicking a link, or loading a new page. If the browser is interrupted, it could corrupt the firmware.
When the upload is complete, your router restarts. The upgrade process typically takes about 1 to 3 minutes.
If this does not solve your problem, respond back and I will help you to change the router to 802.11b/g/n only.
What is your maximum download rate of your ISP? Is it greater than 54Mbps? Usually not, so I find 802.11b/g
to be more stable and actually faster since the router Processor does less work, thus is able to pass packets
faster than 802.11n. The limit is rarely the ISP, it is usually the router that bogs down the traffic.
Hi,
thanks for your response.
My Firmware is 1.0.0.40 already... My ISP download rate is 100MBit/s, I bought the router because of this. I've never had a problem with it until the kindle joined my network
I not really sure if you understand my problem, because you talking about router processor load and turning off 802.11n. It's also hard to explain for me, because my native language is german and the problem is really stange to me (I learned network administration, so I've knowledge about networking).
So, I try to explain the problem again
- Kindle is in standby
- After a random amount of time, no other device on the same wifi band (like the kindle, 5GHz) is able to transfer data to the router. Devices on 2,4GHz are working normaly at that point
- When I turn on the kindle now, the problem goes away (Until it goes to standby and a random amount of time passes).
- When I turn off the wifi of the kindle the problem completly goes away, so the problem seams to be the kindle (although it should not be possible for a device to block data transfer when it is in standby, maybe it's a power-saving feature that the kindle uses and all of my other devices does not and the router cannot handle the power-saving feature correctly. But this is only a thought)
I've no problems with my download speed or something. It's "only" that sometimes the kindle starts to block all data transfer (on the same band) in my wifi network when it is in standby.
[EDIT] But I will try if turning off mixed mode helps.
Regards,
Dennis

eisbaer82,
We are Network Engineers with over 30 years of experience. I really do understand your problem, we have seen it on
several Wireless Routers when running "Mixed Mode". Factory reset never solves the problem. It is my fault for not
including more detail with the last response, sorry I was in a rush. Since you have an awesome ISP and are running
100Mbps, you are correct 802.11n is your solution. To explain the problem, when a device falls a sleep, it is suppose
to release the 802.11n signal, falling a sleep. The problem is the Kindle falls a sleep and locks the 802.11n single in
an attempt to "keep alive" the WiFi Signal. What some routers do is detect this attempt to lock the signal and then
isolates the lock or plain disconnects the signal so it does not effect other users. The Netgear freezes when the
Kindle falls asleep and the locks the signal. This is a simple explanation to a complex problem. Here are your
solutions:
1. Buy a Cisco Aironet Access Point, not Linksys but Cisco. They cost about $600 USD
2. Change the router mode to 802.11n Only but this will only allow 802.11n users and may
not solve the issue.
3. Go to Google Play Store, download and install Juice Defender Ultimate . Then setup the Power Manager to Turn Off WiFi
when the Kindle sleeps.
Take care.
> 1. Buy a Cisco Aironet Access Point, not Linksys but Cisco. They cost about $600 USD
My wife will kill me if I do this

I see no setting in my router for this. Maybe with DD-WRT?

Dennis,
I completely understand, we have to keep the wife happy! :good:
DD-WRT is a Linux-based firmware for wireless routers. It is compatible
with several routers, most notably the Linksys WRT54G series (including
the WRT54GL and WRT54GS). As with similar projects, DD-WRT is a
third-party firmware designed to replace the firmware that ships
pre-installed on many commercial routers. This is done for a variety of
reasons, including the addition of features which are not typically included
in a manufacturer's router firmware. Having said all this, I would try it
since DD-WRT handles the Mixed Mode differently than the stock
Netgear Firmware. Try it!
Hi,
Having the same issue with my cheap TP-Link TL-3220 (Atheros AR9285) running OpenWRT. After some days of KFHD being connected to WLAN, the router stops accepting wireless connections. Switching from mixed mode to pure 802.11g doesn't help, but after i restart hostapd it works back again, so i guess that the problem is with it. Tried to do some debugging, but failed -- hostapd doesn't provide any info when the problem occurs, it doesn't even report about connection attempts.
To avoid it i just disable Wi-Fi when the tablet isn't used. Besides it saves battery a lot .
UPD: Just remembered that i had the same problem with parents' ZTE W300 which the same Wi-Fi chip, and the OP's Netgear WNDR3800 has some Atheros wireless chips too. Looks like KFHD has such problems with Atheros.

buggerm,
You nailed it, the Atheros chipset has the issue, although there are some Open Source packages that are
able to solve the issue through software with different methods of "lock" and the "timing". You are also
correct that disabling the WiFi is a solution, this is why we recommended Juice Defender Ultimate. This
application automatically disabled WiFi when the tablet goes into Sleep Mode. Thank you for the feedback.
I have been having issues where i am connected to the wifi but the device stops passing any traffic. I have fing installed and i can't ping any other devices on my network. I know its just my phone because i have my work phone and tablet connected to the wifi and they still work fine browsing webpages, watching movies etc while the droid turbo can no longer communicate with the local lan or out to the internet. If i switch the wifi off then on again it will reconnect and then work normally. I can then ping devices on the local lan and access pages on the internet. This has happened a number of times now since i got the device.
Edit: I just updated the phone and still get the issue. I have a cisco WAP at home, we have cisco WAP's at work which i will test tomorrow. If this thing still has issues i am just going to swap it out for a Note 4.

Yeah this phone does not seem to like my router for some reason. Keep in mind I'm not a networking expert, but I've tried every combination of options and settings every which way from Sunday and I just can't get the thing to work. When I do connect the phone to my wifi it kills the the connection on every device in the house. At first I though it was just a wireless thing, but even the downstairs computer which is plugged in directly to the router doesn't work. Then as soon as I disconnect the phone every device works again. I thought maybe there was too many devices, so I disconnected all but the downstairs computer, still had the issue when I connected the Turbo. I've tried just turning off the WPA2 and just having an open system, I've tried connecting the phone using a WPS pin (This one actually worked for a good 5 minutes before crapping out and hasn't worked since). On the advanced options of the phone I tried an automatic IP as opposed to the default DHCP setting (This also worked for a good 5 minutes before not working ever again). I've tried limiting it to just one frequency band. I have tried so many different things and I just cannot make this phone work on my router. And I know it's my router because the phone works fine at work.
phone: Droid Turbo
Router : Asus rt-ac66r
yup within ten minutes of getting home, the device no longer passes traffic. My work S5 still works fine at home and so does my samsung tablet. The device worked on wifi all day at work on our enterprise wpa2 network no issues. I tried doing static ip at home, changing to 2.4 ghz, trying new ssid. Not sure what else to do with this thing...
Not just you
I posted a comment on Motorola's forum where people are discussing their wifi issues... And my work around. I currently beleive its a software issue and can be fixed via update. Also, today I found (it appears) that the longer the phone goes without a reboot, the shorter amount of the it appears to go with out needing the wifi card reset.

My work around fix...
First, over night my wifes phone now behaves just like mine. It now connects to wifi and after sometime passes it no longer passes data (but stays connected). I needed a way to auto disable/enable the card... I installed Tasker. I have it set to check every 15 minutes, if the phone is connected to WiFi, to disable then enable the WiFi card. I use WifiMatic to enable the wifi card when the phone is connected to the cellular tower that is near my house. (Doing this by GPS uses more battery power...) Using Tasker with the rule to verify its connected to wifi first helps not enabling wifi if its nit needed and lets WifiMatic enable/disable it as needed.
