I purchased Spashtop Desktop to remotely access my Mac, and everything works great except for the ability to type.
I've tried rebooting, multiple text boxes...I can bring up the software keyboard, but typing on it produces nothing.
I've google'd the heck out of it, looks like I'm the only person with this issue? Hoping somebody here has a suggestion.
Thanks!

Hey, I'm looking for the best remote control software to use on the kaiser. (to control your desktop pc from ppc)
Any suggestions?
I use https://secure.logmein.com/home.asp
It works a treat and it's free.
Yes, another vote for LogMeIn Free.
Also check out http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Access your desktop PC from your Pocket PC! for more info, it explains everything
And yess, another one goes fo rlogmein...
great solution !!
my only problem with logmein is when I log in with PIE sometimes i have to enter my user name and PW about 40-50 times until it logs me in. it keeps throwing me back to the login screen without any message why. i posted a logmein tech support and no response. I tried this on different browsers (PIE/opera/webfront) and got the same results.
other than that, logmein is great.
real vnc enteprise, and realvnc mobile.
connect to REMOTELY with wifi, I use this for everything (IM, Downloads, Etc)
takes little experience to set up, pretty straight forward

If you REALLY want to go the VNC way, use PT Pocket Office instead. It uses way lessbandwidth and is way better.
Is anyone going to made a "My Mobiler" type of application for the G1?
It was very nice to have it with my Wing.
i loved it on my Wing too. i miss it!
Please report this thread to Koush
As he already have Screenshot Application Relaying it to any IP Socket can make a Video Streaming of Onscreen on G1 then only Catching Mouse and Keyboard Events from PC to G1 is require and mapped and channels to Device can be done to Make such Applications
Bump!
Did anyone ever find an app that does anything remotely like this? I'd love to have this capability, since I'm near a desktop pretty much all day and could benefit greatly by responding to messages through a PC based console.

Someone, please do it! I used MyMobiler constantly on my previous WinMo phone (T-Mobile MDA). I would pay to have its equivalent for the Android T-Mobile G1. I haven't rooted my G1 (yet) but would absolutely do it if it was required for running a MyMobiler-like app.
Just think of it:
- Type text messages using your keyboard.
- View your mobile screen on your desktop.
- Control your mobile by using desktop keyboard and mouse.
- Copy/Cut/Paste text between mobile and desktop.
- Capture mobile screen.
- Drag and drop files to your mobile.
Reference: MyMobiler
i looked in to this a little for a project i am working on (Droid Explorer). I found that /dev/input/event1 is the touch events, /dev/input/event2 is the trackball events, /dev/input/event3 is the keyboard and buttons, i cant figure out what /dev/input/event0 and /dev/input/event4 are for.
I tried writing to the file with events that were "recorded" but was unable to write to it. That is as far as I got when I was looking in to it, I put it on the back burner for now.
This would definitely be awesome to get going
Hmm, im not a dev or anything but wouldn't it be somewhat easy to redirect the emulator in the SDK to use the phone instead of the files in the SDK?

http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-server/
it works realy slow so its not for daily use (and after a time of use, the android turns into a reboot), but i think in the sorcecode you can find something that can help u
Hey guys there is one now!
[Tool] Android Screencast (open-source)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557717
Go search for mymobiler at code.google.com and vote for it.
I want something like this too and I can't root my phone...
Does the VNC Viewer work over USB? (On Windows Mobile it make a RNDIS connection over USB so I could use TCP/IP programs like Web/FTP/VNC Servers...)
MyMobiler for Android is good solution
For those who have used MyMobiler on WM, I just read on there website that MyMobiler now supports Android! I tested it and it works on my Inspire
http://mymobiler.com/ it is also listed in this froum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230349
Direct Link http://mymobiler.com/?p=42
Since there are a lot of developers here...
I'd really like an application with which I can send SMS via my pc (using either usb or bluetooth). So I am not bothered to type SMSes on my telly but rather on my computer.
AFAIK there doesn't exist a program like this?
For WM I used to use Jeyo Mobile Companion.
Thanks!
Quick search of the market brought up 'Droid Messenger'.
Thanks, but I rather have my messages not sent via a website. Who knows what they'll do with it.
Moreover, the website doesn't work anyway.
Maybe other suggestions?
I used to use a program called mymobiler on my Windows Mobile that allowed me to type via my keyboard onto the phone. Made sending long SMS's a breeze!
I just found this morning a program that does something similar. Allows you to control your Android phone via your computer -
http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
Works quite well!

Thanks for that androidscreencast tip lewman! I have been after something like that for ages and even considered making myself one! Will try it tomorrow and see how it goes.
Just found something that might be interesting
http://sites.google.com/site/desktopsmsforandroid/en
not sure if it would work for htc hero, but worth a try.
I am using the desktop sms mentioned in previous post on my Hero and it works perfectly well.
It got installed as a package when I installed Droidexplorer (very nice program for windows users).
Well, I tried desktopSMS and it does appear to work. It did force close on me once at the beginning, but it seems to work ok now. Can sent a message and appears in the list when I receive them.
I just wish there was some sort of notifications on pc that the message has been received and who it was from.
Unfortunately, androidscreencast doesn't work for me. I get an exception error (permission denied) when loading the jnlp link. Lewman > how did you get your androidscreencast working?
if you don't mind shelling out a bit - get smsToMailbox - I've been using the Lite version and it works perfectly/free
Hi guys,
Any update on this? Is there any other app which can do this?
You want to write your sms from the hero via a pc, usb connected for example? I use My Phone Explorer... works on all Android devices.

Does anyone know if the phone needs to be rooted in order to use a VNC Viewer? I have all the settings set up but it keeps telling me it can't authenticate. I had it working on my WinMo phone, I currently have it working on my other computer. I tried a bunch of different settings and two different viewers but can't get it to authenticate. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
technically it shouldnt, but ya never know..
I often find myself late at night having to reach for the keyboard to type something in the browser on the PC. On Screen Keyboard helps, but it's slow. Gmote helped even more, but I'd like the step further and go with the voice input.
I've used Windows 7's voice recognition, but I find that my android phone does a better job at recognising some things.
I'd like to either use my phone as a wireless microphone for my PC to use with Windows 7's voice recognition, or just being able to use the voice input from the android phone to input text on the PC.
However, for some reason neither Gmote or Teamviewer allows you to use the mic button on your android keyboard. Thus preventing us lazy people from dictating to the computer.
Droidcam works for video and audio, but not as a Recording Device in the Windows sound settings and therefore can't be used as a voice recognition device.
Long question short:
How do I input text on the PC by shouting at my phone?
And yes, I chose a lollipop because it looks like a mic.
easy
