Something I had installed had this in it a few days ago. I reinstall so often it didn't last long, but I thought I would pass this along.
Old news is old.

As much as I hate to spread about another speculative release date avega1027 said on page 11 of another thread:
"Well for the people that are waiting for the release it looks like it would be comming out 10-06-07, per http://mobilitytoday.com/news/att_re...es_change.html "
and FTA: "Our sources are telling us that some new Windows Mobile devices are on their way! Just got a new update this morning, the AT&T 8925 aka Tilt is has passed certification and it being released on October 5.
Also Blackjack WM6 will be ready on the 1st of Oct.
Motorola Q9 is now slated for launch 11/15 but we think this will be changing soon. Blackjack 2 is slated for an 11/12 release.."
Supposedly, mobility today's David Ciccone is usually a pretty credible source so maybe there's a light at the end of the tunnel at last! Since it was so far down on another thread I figured i'd give it some attention. Thanks avega1027!
Who knows if it's right, but I'm excited to hear something from someone with sources rather than hearsay from an AT&T employee.
I have already given up on all these dates. I will just wait and not get excited about any more rumor dates.
Yeah, I agree... I'm getting really frustrated not to have any iron-clad word on it. But, since this was the first decent lead I've seen in quite a while I figured it's noteworthy.
already a thread for this and wasting space....
Background:
I've been assigned an "Unofficial" project at work (and I keep being told it is unofficial) to streamline one of our processes. I've been told that my day to day work is of most importance and I should only be working on the unofficial project when I don't have anything else to do.
At first I found plenty of time, but recently the day to day stuff has been taking up more and more time where I don't have much time if any to work on the unofficial project.
So in my bi-weekly meeting with my supervisor 2 weeks ago I said "I'm really concerned about running out of time before the deadline you had chosen initally" and that our manager wasn't allowing me to have overtime to work on this project.
I was told everything was fine he wasn't concerned.
Yesterday at the following meeting he said "I'm really concerned about running out of time before our deadline"
REALLY?!
So now I'm in this position where I can't have the overtime I need to meet the deadline but if I miss the deadline (since this is the first real "project" they've put me on since they've changed managers in my group) I feel that this will be a big red mark on my next review.
I've already pretty much been told if the project works out as planned I'll most likely get the promotion that they didn't give me last year. (From a "blah blah blah" to a Sr. "Blah blah blah") This promotion coincidentally was given to the other guy in our department that was hired the same day as me because though he's younger than me by about 5 or 6 years and has had less college experience than me, they've appointed him to be the executive contact for our department and he's good at schmoozing with them.
So I'm in the position now where, I can't have the overtime to get everything I need done for this "unofficial project" and unoffical projects are not funded and do not have overtime. But if I don't get it done, I may not get the promotion I was expecting.
I've already come in once on a weekend to work for 2 hours to get caught up on paperwork "for free" (and I'm not salaried) And I feel like I may just have to do it again for other stuff.
(Head explodes)
thats a lot of work, why don't you organise a meeting yourself and tell them that you don't have enough time?
Or have a private chat with the boss about perhaps getting paid for working on weekends?
Well I did talk to my supervisor in a more informal setting today and said basically I need some overtime or we're not going ot make it and I offered to come in this weekend and get caught up. He said he'd talk to our manager and he thinks it would be ok.
(*relief*)

There you go, i hope everything goes to plan!
The rumor was end of January. Has anyone heard a new timeframe?
sent from my NC
Im not sure where everyone is getting the January Time line from, I remember Originally seeing the time frame as being set at "near the end of Q1" which would mean late March or early April. I don't recall any official source saying January.
Granted this is still not official, but the nice lady at the nook kiosk in B&N told me June when I asked her. She also told me it was capable of playing 450p video but not 780P haha.

If you search Engaget for "Nook Color" you will find an article saying the 2.2 update w/ B&N market was due out in January. This story ran mid December and was also reported by numerous other tech related sites. I started a thread a few days ago asking the same question but got no solid answers on the time frame for release.
And if you do a little more searching, you'll find out the original article has been thoroughly debunked and everybody else "monkey-posted" from the original incorrect source.
Q1 2011 is all B&N has ever indicated.
Searching this forum for "froyo" would have turned up this thread from less than a week ago.

Anyone seen some hope about Q upgrade for Nokia 8?
There is a chance, until they say otherwise. Right now, let's just wait for full Android Q release to see, if it's even worth waiting. Then we'll ask questions about an update. Honestly though, I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to move on. HMD never really cared about flagships.
No chance, HMD said 2 major letter upgrades and it has had them with O and P.
Only way the Nokia 8 will ever see Q is if HMD do it as way of an apology for how they have messed Pie up.
Too early to tell.
Like it was said above, they promised 2 OS version updates, and we've got them. So they don't really owe us anything. But until they categorically say the Nokia 8 misses out... There's always a chance...

TBH you're right.
They never really care about this so called flagship.
The first Pie updates were bugged because HMD has to update 30+ phones, and they don't have time to do it properly - because that would delay things beyond the point where people start screaming blood and murder why the update for their device isn't the next one in the queue, and why device xy gets the update before them.
So basically, either we would get
Another half assed update that was rushed out over the weekend to satisfy customers
An update half a year later while this and every other nokia 8 forum gets filled with "where is our Q update" again
Both of the above
And tbh. I would rather take HMD finally EOL'ing it's 2017 devices over every of the options I listed above, so people can just get on with their lives and not expect anything from HMD. If they push out a Q update to our phones that actually works I would be positively suprised, but please don't expect it - especially not if you are talking about HMD, a marketing startup, that outsources phone development to Foxconn, who don't want to work with you anymore because you have them make and support too many phones.
Excuse my salt in this, but don't make yourself hope, you will be disappointed.
Don't expect more, they have forget their flagship

Yes, they had 30+ phones to update, just like everyone else. But everyone else have a priority in flagships, except for HMD. They updated mid-range devices before their flagship and they needed 5 months to fix some major bugs. You can clearly see what their priority is.
And no, they don't need to release a half baked update, they simply need to communicate. A simple statement saying "we found a major bug, that's why we're not updating your phone until it's fixed" would do just fine. Release it 2 months later, but with no big issues and we're fine, no one will complain.
People are constantly asking "where is my update" because they are not saying a word about it. We don't need promises, or even dates, we simply need info and we're not getting any.
Forget it. I'd rather get a custom rom for Pie than wait forever for a half-assed Q update from HMD. I just wish they release the updated Android Pie firmware and kernel sources with their final update this coming November, that way if there ever comes a dev interested enough in this phone they actually have something reasonable to work with.
I've been following the guides on here off and on since the Galaxy S3. A long time. Only recently though, I've gotten much deeper into Linux and foss, and I'm really humbled by it all. One year ago I switched fully to Linux on the PC, and in the initial excitement I decided to get into custom Roms again. The details aren't that interesting, I'm sure plenty out there can relate. It was so frustrating at times that I'm surprised I stuck with it, because after I made it over enough hurdles, there was no way I could give up on open source. This site is now one of the places I check before buying hardware.
But more importantly than gadgets, I've often seen a spirit of collaboration and unselfishness in communities like this one that just don't see that much man. And if you'd only kind of dipped your toes in and out of tech the way I have these last ten years, you'd know that the changes and improvements in open source are shocking. I am writing this on a 6 year old tablet that works better than my new one does on stock. This last year I finally noticed how much time and effort some you must be putting into this. I swear, some of these devices are getting better, more consistent support here, in their individual forums, than what massive company phone banks could ever provide. Again, thank you for everything. I know I can get kind of long winded.
