Can someone please confirm my understanding below :
1. If I back up my apps + apps data + system data while on a particular ROM then I can restore all apps and data if I am on the same ROM. Right?
2. If I move to a different ROM then I can just do restore missing apps with data. Right?
3. If I flash a different theme on a particular ROM then can I perform a full restore if the back up was made on the same ROM but a.different theme? Example : I backed up all data on continuum Version 4 themed. I flashed crysis theme on continuum version 4. Then, can I restore the back up (all data) on crysis themed ROM. The ROM is same here. Someone please help me with this. Thanks

No problem. I posted it here because the question is TiBu and it's functionality related to captivate. That is the reason I.posted it on captivate general forum. Cool with moving to a more appropriate thread

Flash the rom again

Just remember not to wipe or clear cache. You should always make a nandroid backup before you flash just incase

En, should I select restore Rom only or Rom&Apps when I decided to restore my backup?
I have been through all the roms half keep force close when a call would come in or wont send a text has any one gone through this? And dose anyone know a Rom that dose not do this.
I've tried a handful of ROMs myself, but I've never had any force-close issues you described. Did you flash back to stock and master clear before flashing the new ROM?
I've always been a fan of the Phoenix series, but I've also been very happy with Firefly, Paragon, Serendipity etc.
Are you restoring system data with tibu? Most of these roms don't work well with system data restore....only restore app plus app data.
what does this have to do with themes or apps? post questions in the q&a section please

Newbie Question:
Curious about how to go about installing themes?
1)I looked but didn't see a beginners guide to installing themes---any help?
2) My phone is rooted and running superclean 2.9.x....
Am I limited to themes associated with this ROM?
thanks for all your help in advance
Since your running on eb01 you can flash any theme made to run on that build through cement just like u would install a Tom or kernel. Just install the zip and your good to go

I think his auto correct is a little haywire. What he meant was you can flash any theme made to run on that build through clockworkmod recovery (cwm) just like you would install a ROM or kernel. There should be a thread started with the funniest auto correct posts.
Please limit your questions to the Q and A forum, there are guidelines for a reason.

Like the "car ****" thread I support this thread idea.
When I use CW, it only shows my ROM files as options...not the theme zip file??
Did you move your theme file to the root of sd card?

You also posted this question over in the General area two minutes before this post. I asked you a few follow up questions there to try and start helping you.
EDIT - Actually it was in the Q & A forum. Looks like you are getting the correct help here, so I'm bowing out.
Installing themes
No, I didn't move them to the root, but did select the sub directory they are in..
Has to be on root of sd card not in a folder

hi, i have 2 questions please. although i am a 9300 user i have a problem helping a friend with his 9000. just installed CM10(4.1.2) and all works perfect. My 2 questions are:
1. figured/solved
2. how can i install a "samsung type" of contacts app?
my phone uses the same 4.1.2 but it's a stock based rom, and he really needs the contacts app like in the stock rom.
thank you for any help. i have not posted in cyanogen topic because is not necessary "cyanogen only" related but apologize if i should have done so.
Your own phone is rooted? If so, Titanium Backup should be your friendly neighbourhood system app installer. Backup your own, apply the backup on your friend's phone

You can't install the original Samsung contact app even with TitaniumBackup. It needs the touchwiz framework to run.

Several options:
1. Make a nandroid backup in cwm. Makes a 1 on 1 copy of your rom on the sd card. Reinstalling it recreates the rom with all apps and settings. Only suitable for custom roms, not for stock roms.
2. Use Titanium Backup: it's able to backup all your apps, including system settings, game levels, etc, etc. Has many options, so look carefully what you're doing.
By the way, this is a question for the questions and answers section. Not for development section.

Hi this not the place to ask every single option
You have been suggested to use rom toolbox and now you find yourself on how to make backup through the app
Just play with it for some time and you will get to know everything
Best regards
As for me, the best backup app is My Backup Root. Works really well for me. Backup all contacts, sms, mms call log, apk + data. Just make sure your phone is rooted. Try follow this post.
NANDROID. It's the best backup. Using app for backup isn't efective.
Cause when you entered bootloop you can't open the app. While NANDROID can be restored with a Custom Recovery.
yeah do a nandroid backup of rom, once you've. made a backup of rom you can use an app called "app extractor" ( there's a pro version also but you don't need it) to extract the apps and reinstall them so you don't have to flash the whole rom.
Use CWM recovery
or try using this apps:
Go Backup Pro
Titanium Backup
My Backup Pro
But you need to be rooted
Roomtool box or nandroid backup or titanium backup is the best
