Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce a new project with a very simple but ambitious goal: create a place where all kernel developers can submit kernels easily and reach a much wider audience with ease.
Using Kernel Manager to flash kernels takes less than 30 seconds, generally, and it is extremely simple for end-users to find a kernel, filter by kernel features (BFS, CFS, HAVS, SBC, etc) download/install kernels, and submit ratings for their favorites.
We need from kernel developers like YOU! Submitting a kernel to Kernel Manager is totally free and we even provide hosting for you! Submitting kernels is easy!
If you use IRC, join us in freenode in #kernel-manager!
THIS LINK IS FOR KERNEL DEVELOPERS SPECIFICALLY! Go to http://kernels.teamw.in and register for an account! Once it's approved, you can easily enter new kernels, which immediately show up in the app. The app is currently available in the market.
Please feel free to provide me with any feedback you have, or feature requests in order to make this a great tool for all of android to utilize!

I posted the official CyanogenMod kernel in Kernel Manager!
So if there aren't any kernel devs who have uploaded their kernels to KM yet, you can at least see the flashing process and if it's something you'd use .
Enjoy!

This kernel is a joint effort between ralle.gade and myself to make a kernel that really performs as expected.
Introducing CoburnKernel v7 Series. Originally the heart and soul of AzusaROM, I'm releasing the kernel in case anyone wants to make a custom ROM that will rocket. On AzusaROM 1.03, this kernel loaded the Android home/desktop within 3 "HTC" logo shine cycles. It boots within a minute, depending on your ROM configuration.
You can download it from my Coburn's Domain Server in the Android Project File Browser located here. Login with the user "android", and password "android" and look in the ckernel7series directory. There is nothing private on the server and you are restricted in what you can do - no uploading, i.e. look but you can't touch. Your IP Address is logged by using the File Browser, and if you abuse the server I will ban your IP. Do not attempt to gain access in areas that you shouldn't be in.
Look at the system/modules folder for what CoburnKernel includes. EXT4 is used as EXT2 and EXT3 support, and ralle.gade has done countless graveyard shifts to clean out rubbish that HTC left behind and squish bugs. The kernel is based on 2.6.29 with countless tweaks and mods done by ralle.gade.
I hope you can make use of CoburnKernel! Let's see some ROMs that fly like the wind!
Nice!!! Thank you, will try it out right now!!
What did u change on the Kernel? is it OC'ed?
It's just hacked for optimum performance and has a lot of bloat removed. It has like NFS support and all sorts of cool stuff that ralle.gade complied in.
can you please enable oc ?

Not that I don't appreciate people spending their own free time improving the speed of the tattoo, but why would you spend time removing all the htc bloat only to add more (nfs support? why? to connect to nfs shares with your phone?!).
By bloat, I mean, leftovers from HTC's kernel cooking. There was a HTC bug that could cause mismatches between the kernel modules, causing Android to reboot that ralle.gade fixed. The NFS Support is in a form of a .ko file... Removing that wouldn't hurt, I guess.
is there anyone that would like to have a rebase of my kernel?
if yes i can make some new + old options like:
compiled with gcc 4.4.1
more compiler tweaks
android tether buillt directly in
maybe some ram could be freed
and lets not forget OC
and a ton of other stuff
then i would make a version with alot of addons, one with less addons and a super simple and fast one
would that something or?
Nice!!! I would tell my pals (still with tattoos) that you are making an OC Kernel! Would be nice if you would cook then

I do need testers on this device. Hit me up on IRC (irc.freenode.net) in #tiamat. If you're not familiar with IRC, use http://tiamat-dev.com/web-chat/ to log in to the channel.
Hey, the desire s needs an AOSP kernel. It runs on the same processor as this phone (MSM 8255), so maybe you can make one........
If someone can tell me how to reflash the CM7 kernel (in case wifi bug still exists), I'd be happy to test this out also.
Would I just reflash the CM7 nightly I want to run, as (afaik) the kernel is packaged with it?
Yep ... reflash the nightly and you will hav the cm kernel again
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA App
Ok, well 1.0.3 has fixed the wifi issue. This puts you 1 step ahead of CM right now, as in the latest nightly the kernel was updated and wifi was broken in the process .
It's 245am here, so I will try and write more tomorrow. Just wanted to report that wifi is working .

CM hasn't merged support for the saga (Desire S) in to their kernel yet, but the HTC source is out. I would love to add the device in with this series of kernels (and the lexicon -merge- when that source is out), but that isn't a project I can commit to without some testers or having the device.
If you're willing to test, let me know and I can work on it.

Hi Cayniarb
Count me in for Desire S kernel testing.
I would certainly be happy to test a Desire S kernel too. Using a stripped down Sense ROM right now because of the battery drain on the unofficial CM7 mod, but would love to switch to CM7 full time.
Have plenty of Linux experience and know my way around Android, ADB, fastboot / etc.
Cheers =)
Since this is quickly turning in to a Desire S thread...........
I have a built kernel for the device - but as I don't have it, I have no clue if it works. I'd rather not post a link for a test build like this publicly.
I have the code isolated in a branch away from the mainline (cm-like, really cm+ tbolt) branch for testing, but I see nothing that should make merging it in very difficult. Check it here: http://code.tiamat-dev.com/7x30/htc-kernel-msm7x30/commits/android-msm-2.6.35-saga
The best way to contact for testing is via IRC. If you're not familiar with it, I have a webportal for it setup on my site to make it easy: http://tiamat-dev.com/web-chat/
wonderful .

Yes, I'll second this. Am running MIUI with Tiamat 1.0.4 and Vipermod to undervolt, setcpu down to 650/192mhz and running on conservative governor. Experiencing great battery life, full stability, and the rom still runs smooth. Amazing job!

Whats the difference between paid and free? Can't see where it says the difference.
Do the devs who contribute kernels get a piece of the pie from the paid version?
Cheers!

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub. and on our Gerrit CarbonDev Gerrit.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.
Who is Team Carbon?
Find out here:
Carbon Team
Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

Omni kernel? I thought, Carbon is based on Cyanogen ... please correct me if I'm wrong.
It is based on its own base built from AOSP, but there are two kinds of Boeffla kernels:
1.only for CM roms
2.Omni version, also working on majority of AOSP roms
Before flashing make a nandroid but it is working believe me
