Hello Everybody..
I been itching to upgrade my phone and purchase an Android based phone since months and just when i was set to purchase Incredible S.. these dual cores start popping up.
I am not too much of a geek to fall for the dual cores straightaway, esp when the OS/Apps arent optimized for dual, still thought about considering Lg Optimus 2x as both are closely matched regarding the pricing in my area.
Preference:-
1) Battery
Need to have the battery lasting through the day on moderate/decent usage.
2) Camera
Cant ignore this aspect. Basically still photography. Videos shdnt be horrible either.
3) Ofc the sensible purchase Out of Incrdible S / 2x
Been reading lots of reviews and what not but still a little doubt remains.
Even though totally sold on the HTC Sensation.. the phone might not debut here for another month and a half and more importantly will open with a huge price difference (taking 2x/Incredible S in view)
Advice/Suggestions needed guys.
If you ask me, I will never buy LG phone.
I am HTC fan and I can tell you that Incredible S is one of the best HTC phones till now. My previous phone was Desire HD. Incredible S is much, much better.
Thanks greggy..
Oh and one more thing.. Camera is another thing which needs to be counted in.
Updating original post as well.
I have tried both. And send the LG back.
Camera, battery, software is crap.
I have bought an incredible now and it's absolutely cool.
Camera is quite good.

Heyy I remember you from the Nexus One threads! Cool you're a Incredible S convert as well
I've just bought a new HTC Incredible S. Looks nice, however i realized that the phone signal drops 1 line if I grab the phone with my full hand sovering the top.
Anyway, what makes HTC better than the LG Optimus X2? I'm a fan of HTC.. but according to the features.. the X2 should be much better than our HTC

Same dilema here, but with the desire s instead of this!
Is dual core just overhyped?
also may i ask, why did you upgrade from a dhd to the incredible s?
Is it coz of battery?

i believe the answer lies with the combo of a better optimised s/w + RAM.
Thanks to 'Formel-LMS' we have a comment from a user who tried his hands on both the phones. Thanks to him.

That's due to the incorrect way of holding the phone.
Basically Phones are never meant to be held with fingers anywhere near the antenna as that interferes with the signal reception..and i think that is exactly what happened with you.

Don't count on the dual-core chips having better battery life until a process shrink.

Same here. HD filming is also very nice, but takes a lot of SD memory.
Device is very fast,
Also the speed of the serviceprovider is very important. Check with others.
From Nameit's HTC Incredible s using XDA app!
i dont like the LG

I was stupid to buy LG 2x seeing positive reviews, everything is crap, phone is getting switched off on its own, too much hassel, i wont go for LG again
only positive thing about lg is root freindly, but i believe incredible s will come around, but i thought same for legend & it never picked up
Hi ppl
I have read this tread and realised that there have been a lot of dislikes about the LG optimus 2x. I am actually a user for both the 2x and Incredible S. so i can tell you the pros and cons for each phones...
Yes i have to admit when the LG came out fresh from the box it does have its flaws but it is mainly due to LG programmers... It hangs lags and self restart but after a firmware upgrade (10A to 10B) all these problems are gone! Now it is fast and smooth and it has not given me any problem since then!
Of course it is still not perfect! there are atill some flaws i will get back to that later...
Now to the HTC
firstly i have to admit the HTC sense do really make life easier! especially if you upgrade from 1 HTC to another HTC!
Apart from the usual Gmail sync that you get for all android phone, HTC sense actually automatically sync everything! settings, ringtones and including your SMS! This is a big plus point actually! Also sense makes contact management a breeze as you can link each contact to their email, face book, whatsapp...
This really help you see your things about your friends easily without the need of switching from one programme to another...
To sum up the pros and cons...
Pros for 2x
Camera both is 8mp but LG is much sharper and also in dark situation, LG actually uses its LED Flash to auto focus first so you will get sharp picture even in dark situation.
As compared to the HTC it does not perform well in dark situations and it does not use its LED to help focus the objects.
Also the flash on 2x is actually brighter then the dual LED on the HTC.
2x has full HD video recording while HTC is only 720p... 2x is really nice when it comes to video recording.
2x has built in 8GB of memory and it can still be further increased Via micro SD while HTC only has 1gb for programs...
LG has direct HDMI output and it really output to my TV at Full HD
LG has better sound quality speaker, it rings and sound much louder!
LG has better screen picture quality.
LG has better battery life compared to HTC. HTC can't last more then 10 hours without charging but LG can... Usually when my HTC die my LG still has about 20 percent.
Lg somehow has better signal level compared to HTC... this could be due to the fact that HTC tried to cut cost and put the Signal antenna to the battery cover so if you cover with your hands you will get a drastic signal drop.
cons for LG
Facebook integration is not as good as htc
thicker and heavier then htc.
Pros for HTC
HTC Sense! it is a really big plus point! it is really useful.
Better user experience... Examples are that you do not have to do screen unlock to skip the next music track when you are listening to music wherelse LG have to unlock the screen and go to the music menu to go to the next track!
Email SMS inbox can be seen on the screen without going into the program itself (again thanks to HTC sense widgets).
Cons
Sorry some of the cons are actually mention on the LG's pro for comparision.
examples are the camera and video recording are not as good as the LG.
Battery life is considerable less.
sometimes it is really sluggish (could be also due to the fact that htc sense is a resource eater!)
for now i can only report till here...
all i can say is HTC is really way ahead from all the competitor in android for its programming!
and also i prefer the build quality on the LG itself! it feels more solid!
PS. For all the people who has LG 2x and expericeing hanging please just do a simple upgrade of firmware as it really improve and solve all the problems.
I hope this helps!
Optimus 2X has a Tegra dual core, HDMI, 1080p HD recording, gyroscope,
however, it only has 512MB RAM, it's a big disadvantage
BTW: I don't trust LG phone's quality, i'd prefer Incredible S ...
At carphone warehouse in the uk, the incredible s cost more than the lg! Then the wildfire s cost only £50 less than the lg. So ppl in uk have already negative views of it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEeulajPlkk#
Show's that dual core and quadrant score don' mean jack in day to day stuff.
Don't fall into the more is better trap that people fell for with their PC processors. It took folks about two years to realise (unless you spend your life gaming) it was total ****.

Yes, I am rarely below 40% after 24 hours. Usage typically consists of Exchange and gmail updates every 15 minutes, light browsing and periodic widget updates. The screen brightness will affect this though.
And this is without having to resort to a task killer.

Hi,
So i planned to buy HTC Desire HD until yesterday came HTC Incredible S to my local shop. And im quite surprised, because Incredible S is cheaper than Desire HD - Desire HD costs 503 euros while Incredible S costs 442 euros. So now im wondering... perhaps i should go straight to Incredible S? But the things i want are Big screen, because im planning to read web, pdfs and stuff like that. I wouldnt buy an expensive phone if it has some freezing or rebooting problem (thats why i skipped original Desire), so as i know Desire HD is reliable, stable, fast and doesnt have any problems regarding that. So Incredible S should be just like Desire HD in stability. Some people are complaining of bad Desire HD battery life, and it seems like Incredible S has bigger battery and smaller screen, so battery life on Incredible S should be better, altough i dont worry too much, if battery would last 24 hours with medium usage thats more than enough. So im asking you Incredible S owners - what problems does this phone have (if it does have them at all), and how well it does work? I mean is it snappy and stable like Desire HD? Also, as i said i want big screen, but if the difference isnt that big (4.3 vs 4.0 inch) in reality, i would be totally satisfied with Incredible S screen. I mean how much would 4.3 inch display compared to 4.0 inch improve the web browsing, pdf documents reading experience? If the difference isnt very significant i wouldnt care. Also how about build quality? Desire HD has metal on his back, while Incredible S has rubberised plastic? Does it squeak? You know, metal is always nice it makes phone a bit stronger, but more or less the phone will sit in its case. So overall which one you would recommend me?
Thanks for answers
There are plenty of user reviews in this forum, but in short (and IMHO):
- IS has much better quality screen, albeit slightly smaller (not small enough to make a differance)
- Battery life is much better
- IS has same SOC as the DHD so performance is the same
- Build quality is good. Stable, sturdy and tight

Thanks, i already readed this forum. But how about hang ups or reboots or something like that? Also how about support? Im almost sure that this phone wont get as much as attention as Desire HD has, altough this is gonna be my first android smartphone, so im not planning to root that phone in near future (too afraid), but still that would be cool if Incredible S would be rooted and Cyanongen mod would be ported to Incredible S, because only HTC Sense and stock android look useful to me, i cant stand all other ui overlays like touchwiz or motoblur, theyre incomplete, laggy and ugly. So anyway as i see you recommend me to go to Incredible S. Well perhaps i will but i need more opinions and replies first, you know i dont want to buy something what i will be regreting for two years.

i fully agree with you, in all points.
i am was using myself the glacier, it's not stable at all, it's heavy, not liked it at all. now i am using the vivo, i am really happy with it, just the shape of the back cover looks strange for me, the only thing i don't like
for my opinion, this phone will become a best seller !
If it in a rush: certainly buy the IS. If u have some time 2 spare u can wait for the dual cores, which should be a better choice.
Just because the IS is newer, it has some better balanced hardware. A lot of people feel the same way about it. Upgrade is a waste of money, new its definitely worth it. But if you can wait a month or 3 u probably should go for a dual core. For the next 2 year a lot will change in Android and much better support dual cores.
And about your questions: Nvr had any problems, sometimes its a bit baggy, but its over in a second or so. The back doesn't squeak.
Thanks for opinions.
Well im also thinking so, but i found one thing, Desire HD shoots better videos i mean fps than Incredible S, why is that so?
Desire HD video sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNtZSgcaToY
Incredible S video sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GJHfX5j7Es
The difference is pretty obvious.
About dual cores well i dont see any reason to buy one of them. Why? The current 1 ghz android smarthphones are very fast and smooth theres almost no area for perfomance improvements, so definitely dual cores is not worth a wait. The only advantage i see is gaming, but im not a gamer so i dont care. Also it should improve multitasking but multitasking in android is already pretty smart and optimized for single core cpus.

I myself too had the same problem with ts, but I went with IS cuz of the battery life

Shooting videos should be the same considering camera hardware is the same. The video from the Desire HD in the youtube video appeared to be better but I think that had more to do with location and lighting. If you record the same location the video should be identical.

I saw other videos of incredible s and even those with good light conditions are still worse than desire hd's.
I had a DHD for 2 weeks, and its certainly not a bad phone. But when i was offered to svop the DHD for a IncS, i acceptede it right away, and i havn't regrettede it for one second.
The IncS has much better screen and build quality.
Just waiting for it to bee rooted ;-)
the 2 are good

Altough it shouldnt have random reboot or freezing problem, theres thread in here in which quite a few people complain that it restarts itself. Do you have same problem?

you wanted to say "battery life", didn't you? ;-)
DHD being the Flagship device at the time of release, i would have expected the cost of it would hold for quite some time, even thought the newer IS is out now, it's not quite revolutionary enough to be yet another flagship device at this stage.
But having one on my hand now and having played with my friend's DHD, you are getting a pretty similar device for a bit less money to be honest.
I would definately say go for the IS unless you find a good deal on the DHD.
I had also htc desire hd, it was a good phone but its build quality was not so nice especially the Sim card cover was so badly build, it is so rough and always keep the gap between aluminium part of the phone. so it looked very ugly like a broken phone, and htc knows very well about this issue and many users are using their warranty for this sim card cover.
I prefer htc incredible s over dersire hd on two factors.
IS screen resolution is much better than desire hd. SLCD IS BETTER THAN LCD especially when you are using your phone outside.
IS build quality is also impressive, no doubt it has rubbery back but looks great in hand and no awkward issue like desire hd( Sim cover)
but if you consider only software, then both are same.

Just to clarify, the resolution of both devices is exactly the same. The IS looks sharper and clear because the pixel density is higher, because it is physically smaller. But the end result is it looks crisper, and also the brightness of SLCD is much improved as well
I was thinking on getting either the desire s or the incredible s. Im a moderate user therefore i have no need in a dual core phone or a 4.3" size which is too big for me. Also, i dont think im going to root it,so the fact that it has no root option doesnt concern me.
Im still not 100% sure, but im more leaning towards the incredible due to its 4" screen which seems just the right size for me and since i hear a lot about the wifi problem the desire s has.
Still, a few things i would like to know about the incredible s before buying it.
1. I would like to have a phone that has as less problems as possible (ie, random non stop reboots, etc). Does the incredible fits that? some ppl say it heats on the back quite a lot.. is that true?
2. Battery life.. i read mixed comments about it from ppl saying it doesnt even lasts 12 hours with light to moderate use... is that true? is the battery as bad as the previous htc desire?
2. Is there support for divx this time? or would i have to convert files to mp4?
Any other major issues this phone has which i should know about?

I've had no problems with my incredible s, it rebooted once but that has never happened since and i think it was my fault , i've experienced no heat what so every even under heavy usage

For me with moderate usage it has lasted 18 hours and still about 20% battery left, battery is great

Thanks for your reply, makes me feel better about purchasing it
ok serious this is for me the last time i made a review or gave any info about this device, since most info can allready be found on the forum....
wifi - no probs
battery temperature - yes it gets hot.. but it depends how you use it... extreme usage is hot battery, also the weather around you has an influance on it offcourse... Like Fisk lives in stockholm.... no doubt it wont get hot over there LOL
battery lifetime - if you cant make it a full day than you would suprise me big time, when i used bluetooth wifi, heavily gaming, browsing on the web and having bad signals mostly of the day. i can make it for rougly 16-18 hours.
reboots - allot, my fault tho since im busy writing my own **** in here but standard... only had it once, and never after again.
divx - hmm i did not test that... so i dont know... but im almost sure it does
flash supported - offcourse
sound quality - according to others seems to be better than the devices that been delivered before
hope you got enough info on this now

HTC Incredible S has a slightly smaller screen (Desire HD had a 4.3 inch screen while the Incredible S has a 4 inch screen), a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, slightly larger battery and better screen quality.
If you want a big screen, get the Desire HD. Otherwise, get the Incredible S.

More specifically, if you expect to use it one handed get the Incredible S. The DHD is too big for this IMO.

have beening using the phone for two weeks now. Don't have any problem, for me at least.

The battery is not too bad. If you are a moderate user, it surely can last for one day (maybe two days).
2. Is there support for divx this time? or would i have to convert files to mp4?
Haveb't tried this yet. Don't like watching movie on a phone (screen is too small for me).
My only certain is the plastic-like back cover. The back cover feels very fragile and the antena is painted ( or glued) on the it. If you don't put the back cover on, the phone won't have any signal at all. After all, it's not bad. Compared with other phones, it's not that expensive.
Hope it help

Im not from the UK, so it doesnt matter to me..
anyway, i think im gonna wait for the sensation to come out and see if the price for the incredible is going to drop a bit (which i hope it will)
Btw, anyone knows the SAR rating of the IS?
anyone can answer my question above?

Are those good values?
btw, did anyone try to play divx with the phone and can tell me if it works well?
hey,
i was going to start a similar thread.. but
i am also stuck between desire S and incredible S.
i absolutely love desire s unibody design, and i dont really care about the wifi prob (besides there is some kind of fix to it as well), only concerns are ... the build quality: lots of ppl are talking about loose battery covers and screen not fitting in place lol, also the camera seems pretty lame...but the form factor/ screen size- perfect !
but incredible S... seems to have more developers to get the root (tho i think it will be ported to desire s as well afterwards... yea ?), but its only got froyo, not gingerbread, and its a bit too large, and not so darn beautiful >.<
and hows the music quality through the headphones (good stereo ? bass ?) and loudspeaker (no distortion ? loud ?) ?
only drawback- the bootloader on these phones and sense UI... would love CM 7 possibility

I was thinking on getting either the desire s or the incredible s. Im a moderate user therefore i have no need in a dual core phone or a 4.3" size which is too big for me. Also, i dont think im going to root it,so the fact that it has no root option doesnt concern me.

Have been using it almost nonstop for the last 8 hrs. Battery is ALOT better than my iPhone 4!

I downloaded Mobo Player. It played flv, mpeg, avi, and mp4.

I just got this phone yesterday, and so far I like it!!
For those of you who have purchased the Vivid, any regrets? Why?
None so far for me. I switched from an Inspire and it is a nice improvement in all areas except for development, for now at least.
The screen and improved camera were enough to make it an easy decision for me to switch.
I exchanged from the SGS2 to the Vivid. Wasn't sure which LTE device I wanted. I went with the qHD display because I liked it more so than the SA+. The one thing I regret at the moment is the lack of development so far. The Skyrocket being so close to T-Mobile's version is off to a great start in that department. I had an Atrix before, so I'm used to waiting anyway. With other carriers releasing HTC devices with 1.5ghz makes me feel like there will be a new HTC LTE device being rolled out shortly.
none yet.
I broke the screen on my Dell Streak back in March.
Heard about the HTC Holiday 2 days later.
Waited months for it to come to the US... all the while using a phone with a broken screen.
Became upgrade eligible in August...
I finally gave up waiting and bought the SGSII...
12 hours later (no, i'm not joking.) AT&T announced the Vivid(Holiday)...
I kept the SGSII for a week, seeing if it's annoying over-saturation and ultra light weight would grow on me...
Bought the Vivid on Launch Day.

I wouldn't worry about it...
It appears our phone has the 1.5 in it as well, just underclocked to save battery life.

HTC has done that before, underclock to save battery.
Nothing so far, everything work as expected, Wifi, GPS, call quality is great. I like the weight on the thing, don't really like litght phones, it's just me.

i switched from the iphone 4 and im kinda wanting to go back to it, but i think its just that im not use to android and im gonna give it time. the phone though i like a lot, its the browser and mail apps that bug me.
I wholeheartedly regret my decision, for now anyways....see the data connection problems thread.

None, somehow the Vivid feels more complete for me as a phone, maybe i am one of those few who love sense. i dont really care much of development, to me the phone works
Switch from crappy since launch day, love the sense. Always wanted a HTC,and it's as good as expected.
As for development,it's only out for a week. HTC is known to be the fastest mgf to release update,no worry. Not to mention HTC already already announce we will have ICS January.

The phone's great for me so far. The only regret I have is the audio quality recorded from the camcorder, it's bad... I thought I'd be able to make it sound better by turning stereo recording off like I did on my Sensation, but unfortunately I was wrong. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future by HTC or developers. :l
So far I love the phone. My only complaint is the less than stellar battery life, but everything else is good, and my battery life seems to be getting better now that it's gone through a few charge cycles & I'm starting to return to using it as a normal phone and not a new gadget! I don't seem to have any of the connectivity problem others complain about, but I'm pretty sure at this point that's a network thing, because the Skyrocket experiences the same issues sometimes. The screen is nice and bright as far as I'm concerned (dare I say it's rather vivid?), and I like the qHD resolution. I think the speaker's plenty loud enough & call quality's pretty good. And overall I'm just a fan of HTC's Sense over Samsung's TouchWiz. Now if only we could manage to unlock the bootloader!

Haha, glad I could save your fingers some effort!
Coming from a Tilt 2, this phone is amazing! No more worrying about running out of memory. No more watching the battery guage go from 100% to 70% just by sitting on my nightstand overnight! No more typing and watching the letters show up on the screen 5 seconds later! Also, I love the qHD screen.
For my first Android phone, I think I made a wise choice!
I have no regrets about the phone, but getting angrier by the day about the bootloader. Seems absurd that htcdev doesn't have the unlock tool on day 1, let alone day 10, especially since its brother models are up there. Grumble, grumble...
I went to the Vivid from my trusty Inspire. The Vivid doesn't seem to be as sturdy as the Inspire, but still a nice phone. The 1.2 GHz dual core proc keeps everything running slick and smooth, but all that power sure generates some heat! This thing gets super hot when I run GPS, Bluetooth Audio, and other stuff at the same time. As soon as this thing gets an AOSP rom... it will be great!
-TH
I regret getting this phone, but I couldn't tell you a better option it's so hard to tell with phones without living with one for a week beforehand, and I don't have that luxury. I am displeased with some things within this phone to the point where I would move if I was given the option. I look at other phones and really I couldn't tell if I would actually like them once I had them.
If I could get an android from Telstra with a full slide out keyboard, that wasn't a low/mid range 450Mhtz snooze fest, I would jump ship so very quickly, I'm a fan of physical keyboards. Next time around though I think my main guiding factor will be stock android (ie a Nexus of some variety, or a phone that gets stock android asap)
Pro's
1. Camera is pretty nice, microphone is rubbish for vid, but the picture quality is very nice
2. Battery is pretty good under ICS, no android has awesome battery, but this I am finding pleasantly surprising.
3. Lots of internal space for apps and media
4. microSD card slot.
5. LTE, in Australia this is the only LTE handset currently available.
6. MHL compatibility is pretty nice with video output to HDMI via the adaptor.
7. Cheap accessories from ebay, covers and stuff are common, they are however unheard-of in shops in Australia, cant even get a screen protector or a cover from Telstra themselves, and they offer no solution beyond ebay
Con's
1. This is the first "sense" android I have used long term, and I gave it a good run but I hate sense so very much, and the ICS update to sense 3.6 made sense worse for me, sure its lighter and faster now, but features I want are now gone. I came from mostly using GB MIUI on a HTC HD2 to this phone with sense, and sense is just so far behind MIUI it's not even funny, sense feels like winmo 6.5, I was so disappointed.
2. Due to many reasons, not necessarily the handsets fault, the development options and ROM selection is quite limited, I came from a HTC HD2, which could run anything under the sun, and had developers coming out of the wazoo, even supported dual-booting and running ROM's from the SD card, including full desktop operating systems, I miss that hack-ability of the HD2.
3. The back cover falls off all the damn time, I can't get the damn thing to stick. Even if under another cover, it slides up and interferes with the speaker and the flash/lens of the camera, all of a sudden my photos are darker and I'll be like, wait not again, YES THE DAMNED BACK COVER AGAIN! This is a retarded design.
4. HTC's version of exchange email support is rubbish, the stock android app is miles ahead of it, I don't know why they feel they need to rewrite it because they replace awesome with mediocre.
5. USB mounting of the drives are hit and miss, sometimes both volumes don't mount, or none mount, other times they are good for 50 disconnection/reconnection in a row.
6. on the stock OTA update for ICS, issues with the screen remaining dull/not adjusting properly and all of the missing options that GB had are driving me nuts.
7. if I roll back to GB and attach my phone to exchange using the same account, I can install APK's still, under ICS with the same account, the security option is hidden from me... I can no longer install APK's under ICS.
8. whilst streaming music to my A2DP car adapter, I cannot find any way to get the email notifications to NOT interfere with the music, even if I remove all notifications it still makes the music "skip" slightly when an email comes in... this is frustrating, thought I feel it is an ICS issue as this wasn't a problem with GB.
Just my experience, if someone offered to swap a galaxy nexus I'd probably jump at the opportunity, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't take it (it was an option available at the time I needed a new phone).
Hello to everyone!
I have open this topic to tell everyone that I admire my phone. I care about it, and you do?

It's all about Optimus Black.

+1 for this
But as they say p970 it has goot hardware
Hardware, most are good except battery is suck (software prob i think) & VGA is very old, PowerVR 530... at first i was hoping 535 or 540. But well, i barely use my phone for games.
Very like the phone design, also I love IPS panel for sure

good phone with some glitches
the phone is having a very good display, a great slim streamline body, the best front facing camera, the primary camera is having rich colors too.
however, what hangs the phone down is the bad s/w support, tinny(although loud) speakers, the LG Bloatware, fingerprint prone back panel and a bad battery. i have 2 charge it every night
and oh! the GPU is not powerful enough, i bought this phone mistaking the Sgx530 as the SGX540 (the one in the SGS). although, i don't regret buying it. primarily due to the awesome display
I bought this phone the P970 to replace my older GT i9000 Galaxy S1
Hardware wise i love it but software wise its not so good
So i bought a Galaxy S 2 as main phone
Even now when i hold the P970 in my hand this phone feels better and more comfortable fit than Galaxy S2
Dont get me wrong Galaxy S2 is probably the best android phone out there but the P970 aint that far behind I love both phones just Samsung have better on time updates
Its a shame if the P970 came shipped with Android 2.3 it would have been a massive hit
even my old service provider Tmobile dont have it listed now as one of their phones now online for sale anymore
LG have a lot to learn
Was speaking to LG support yesterday according to them the update we are all waiting for is ready on their end now it is being tested by service providers and once the approval is sent back to LG then it will be ready for people to update , they say it is imminent
I live in a hostel, and i have almost all smartphones in my building under a roof.
And all i can say about Optimus Black is that it has the best display out there in market. I have compared the 720p movies hand-on-hand with Sensation XE (htc flagship), Galaxy S2 (Samsung flagship) and Arc S (SonyErricson flagship). And not only me, but the owners of those mobiles themselves frankly admitted that Optimus Black is the most fabulous while watching movie.
And also another thing, many smartphones of today, when you use outdoors in sunlight, well, i've seen too many people keeping their palms on mobile to avoid direct sunlight falling on mobile. But with Optimus Black, i can see crystal clear in daylight without slightest discomfort.
Every mobile has its goods and bads, and i'm happy with my OB for the good it brings.
pros : slim, good material, wifi direct, nice display, the only one with neutral colors and pure white (better render than AMOLED), camera is also one of the best on phones market
cons : software, battery, 1gb of ram would have been better, no TV out, not dustproof
the worst thing after all for me is that we have to keep the phone ON to use alarms (is it the case for all androphones ?)

Yes, I think so.
I've had my OB for about two months now and I can't possibly state how happy I am with it !
It's great ! Isn't it just great, you guys ?
The battery lasts a lot more than my old Blackberry's, the display is huge, shiny and the colors are vivid. Game performance is astonishing and I love the Dolby mobile option for Music and Videos.
All in all, a great phone !
As much as I like the 4X I am very disappointed with the battery life and the fact we cannot obtain root (well majority of us).
I keep looking at the Hong Kong version of the Meizu MX 4 core. Had a look at some reviews and un boxing vids and looks like a nice device. Has anyone ever used a Meizu device before? What are everyone's views on this?

I guess it depends what you want from your phone.
I am quite happy with the battery life and its definitely better after several cycles and the v10d update.
Couple of things struck me with the Meizu when compared to O4X though:
4.0" screen vs 4.7"
640 x 960 res vs 1280 x 720
No microSD slot
Micro SIM only
Personally don't like the design either, looks like a chinese iphone clone to me.
Of course it is each to their own though, everyone wants something different from their phones. I bought the O4X on the merits it has, that none of the other current flagships could give me.

I have the meizu mx 2 core, its a nice phone hardware wise.
screen is very good its almost 300ppi so no dif. really vs the LG phone.
sound in calls are very low even at highest setting.
sound from headphones and speaker is by far the best on any android phone with its wolfson chip.
but there is bad translations in english mode, u have to use locale apps to get right in maps and searches.
u have to install special apps to get into the "real menu" for sync accounts otherwise its flyme only.
almost all support is in chinese.
not much rom development on the device even if its the HK version.
if miui gets a release soon it might be good but i cant recomend it software wise.

Perhaps you have some battery eating app running?
I always have data off until I need it and WiFi only on when the screen is on and since v10d the phone drops about 2% battery overnight now.
Seems the saver core works really well in standby as that matches my sensation with a custom battery saver kernel.

sadly, i am starting to share the same opinion, NOT because of root options, but the functionality of the OS on this model.
it seems they handle sensors incorrectly, and without root, we cannot even try to fix it here.
- is it just me or is it very annoying that when you press power, it takes ages (2-3 seconds) before it responds and turn on the display? (when its in standby)
- when you hang up a call, is it just me or does the thing takes forever?, and the proximity sensor for turning on display when you move it away from your head, i know it can be modified, but why would LG have the delay soooo f.... long? HTC has none of these issues, its almost close to being tooo sensitive?

I don't have that kind of issue. Does it stay after a full wipe ?
I had a Gnote juste before the 4x HD. Every body was happy about Gnote battery life but not me. With to different Gnote under cyanogen, i had constant battery drain. I'm sure it was software, but i never found wich app was draining. For me, there was no way to have a full day without charging.
Lg 4x is working better for my usage. With green power, i lost maybe 1% during the whole night. The screen is far more responsive. Its seems to handle more precise finger position, build quality is top, size great, screen perfect.
Really a great little phone. i'm quite happy.

looking at your post, i did the test and gound that you are right! but it's been half a month since i got this phone, and i did notice it before i read it from your post... so there are no use case for me where it can be realy annoying, because we are always talking about 1 to 3 seconds!
also, mi old Galaxy S with CM9 isn't faster .
I am also waiting for root (battery life is ok for me since v10d although my wifi is on all the time), but since this phone is realy new, an not as popular as Samsung ans HTC's flagships, I know that it will take more time.

i had a Galaxy S too and still is within family reach and i do honestly not feel it was that bad. but yes we might be down to 1/2 a second, but the feel of this is a little annoying. but yes, i come to live it hoping i can fix it when its rooted but really, LG could have made it customizable. when they had to make it so strange.
everything here is fast, no delays, when calling, screen is intant on/off, also when the phone is laying around and i push the power button, i get nearly instant screen on ....
dunno why, i only have wiped the device before and after the 10D update

also, mi old Galaxy S with CM9 isn't faster .
I am also waiting for root (battery life is ok for me since v10d although my wifi is on all the time), but since this phone is realy new, an not as popular as Samsung ans HTC's flagships, I know that it will take more time.

Are there any other reasons to jump ship?
Reviews talk about how far the display is from the screen? Is that bad?
Someone from LG told me that the 4XHD can record phone calls (when in conversation go to voicerecorder and start recording, you should hear a beep every 10 seconds orso). Can someone verify this? I know that the SGSII & III can't nor the One X.
Some reviews also talk about the phone being too quiet? How is the volume when ringing? When in a pocket or coat (in a pouch)?
How's in call audio? How's the earpiece audio?
I'm just wondering if when used as a phone the 4xHD is a better option then the OneX? The One X has a proper notification led which is bright unlike the one from the Xperia U (which the sales dip**** should have said before I bought the damn thing). The One X IS loud when playing music and video so assume it's as loud when ringing. The OneX's screen looks great. But it can't record calls which is important for me.
The price difference is about 30 euro's between OneX and 4xHD
Cheers.

OneX and 4xHD are both bad in terms of battery HOWEVER the 4xHD has a bigger and replacable battery.
Also 4xHD's screen is on par with the OneX and thereby the best I've seen to date. (Better than new iPad btw)
Had no issues with sound at all. Speaker is crystal clear (sometimes a bit too clear but still very good), didn't try the music with LG earpieces though. Other earpieces sounded good to me.
Volume of the ringtone... No idea. Didn't really care but haven't missed a call for now, so I suppose it's good enough.
4xHD also has an micro SD card slot (up to 64 gb) wich in my eyes is a huge advantage.
Plus I had nothing but good with LG so far.
You should only consider buying the OneX if:
You need the additional community support (LG will never attract as many devs however cyanogenmod will most likely be ported as soon as it's rooted. (Probably even officially supported))
You need the best camera in town (Except for Nokias 41 Mpix phone-camera of course)... read you need the fastest camera in town.
You need Sense. (LG's is more smooth and really (I mean REALLY REALLY) among the best, however it's just not as polished as HTC's)
You need Dropbox Space (You get Box.net space with LG I think. Too bad I don't really use that.) (OneX has up to 25gb for 2 years).
If you said no to one or all of the above:
Get the LG.
BTW For me Samsung S3 is a no no because of the design, the crappy touchwhizz and the worse screen in sunlight... But it does have the even larger community support and the supposedly less energy consuming processor.
Hey guys
Just to let you know if your having problems with the stock 4x then you can complain to LG about it. On their chat support you can ask to raise a VOC (voice of customer) then give them suggestions and improvements. When I talked to support the guy did try to help even though I don't have an optimus 4X.
I'm sure they'll try to help if they can.
