I apologize if this was answered, couldn't find it.
How can I get control of what gets loaded on startup? Should I look for init.d?
ATK shows around 20 apps started automatically after booting.
I am running stock rooted.

i am noticing many settings/apps are not loading up when i restart my nexus. for example, the market doesnt show all my apps in the downloaded section, my swype and swiftkey isnt enabled (checkmarked in settings), and apps installed on card dont show up instantly (but not a biggie because they will all load up once nexus is fully powered up). is anyone else having these power up problems?

i found apps that should start up when froyo is loading up wont auto start if the apps are installed to SD. move these apps (like weatherbug elite, locale, mylock, meebo, live wallpapers, switch pro, y5, swype or any keyboards) to phone then run them. reboot the phone and they should all load up. took me some time to figure this out because after moving some apps they would show up as not installed but on another reboot they showed up fine. this solves the "why are my apps not auto starting on reboot/power up with froyo 2.2"

Kind of sounds like an issue with apps on the SD card maybe?
I'd maybe look at pushing those back onto internal storage to see if it has any effect on things. Any apps installed to the SD card will definitely not load instantly - the phone doesn't actually scan the SD card until the OS is pretty much fully loaded as I understand it.
Also, what he ^^^ said.
yes i dont mind them taking a while since they seem to load after the phone is fully powered up so not a biggie there. i will try what iammuze suggested

Hey all,
I installed Super Rooter shortly before it became SRE, I based it on the JH3 firmware. With it is SLA4 and I used the packaged lag-fix and bloatware remover. It was going great for a while, but recently things are getting screwy. Things that are happening once in a while:
I click home, and the home screen is entirely blank and all the icons and apps have to re-load
When installing programs, everything is horribly slow
Unlocking the phone sometimes is very delayed
Is anyone else experiencing any of these problems? Also, I have a lot of apps installed. Always running are: SmartBar, SystemPanel and Tasker.
Let me know if I left out any important information.
Thanks!
Mine was like this for a while. Problem went away when I rebooted. This was on stock firmware with RyanZA lagfix only.
I'm having the same problem with the Lagfix installed. I tried to uninstall it to see if that was the problem, but it messed up and screwed up my data. I have to reinstall a ROM now.
i have noticed the exact same lags....the one where everything has to reload is especially annoying. happens every once in awhile when i open the app drawer too.
surprisingly enough, i am also running jh3 with super rooter (before it became sre)...i was excited because i came home today expecting to do a jh7 flash with the latest SRE, and then i see unhelpful updated his kernal, and DG is going to take a few days and update the whole sre program to either a full blown rom or add many options for flashing.
Sounds like a your running out of RAM, not filesystem lag issues.
Get a task killer, configure it to ignore the apps/widgets you dont want it to kill. Add the task killers "Kill All" widget to your default home screen and hit the kill all widget every time you back out of an application you are done using.
When your captivate is unable to keep more than 100-140MB of RAM free its time for a reboot. If you can never maintain this much free RAM even after a fresh reboot, cut down to 2 or 3 home screens and and less widgets.
With ADW.Launcher, 2 home screens and 3 Widgets total I never fall under 200MB of RAM free (Rooted)
is there a way to delay the scanning on boot by a set amount of time?
i know it can be disabled but can it be delayed? or maybe moved to the last thing it does on boot up?
30 - 60 seconds would be nice. let the phone do less at a time...
Have you looked at the startup managers in market? I thought I saw one that would delay certain processes. Also, if you post request in the SGS Tools thread (thebes and apps), wilson may be able to add something like that to the app.
Sent from a place my wife doesn't know about (yet)
ill look into that thanks but i would prefer to not have another thing run on startup
Have you tried something like SD Maid to (hopefully help) speed up boot? May not help, but just a random thought.
yup. also deleted a bunch of un-needed icons. and a few un explainable scripts in the init.d folder. bit better but not much
Is it possible to select what starts up, kinda like selective start up on your (windows) pc?
Hello Guys,
Ive been googling around to find a script or something to "keep alive" the phone app. However, what I found ( "auto memory manager" and "phone-priotiritizer") doesnt seem to work with my SGS.
I was thinking about a script to push in "init.d" in order to lower the phone app priority.
Any idea?
Thanks

OK, so, I'm new here and at the Android stuff aswell. Recently got my Mini S5570, rooted it and installed that VERY useful ROM.

I like it A LOT, modified all startup programs and it runs very fast.
Got a minor thing bugging me - I use Memory Booster and when I enter the Task Killer I always see Music and Gallery there, even when I didn't use them recently. They take up around 9MB of RAM, which isn't much but it still bothers me. I want these Apps but I don't want them to start up automatically. Is there any way to make them only load when I run a music/photo or launch the app directly? They keep restarting when I kill the proccess.
Thanks in advance!
Edit:
Also for Google Play - is there any option that it will NOT restart itself? Only when I choose to run it?
