[Q] how to flash i9000 kernal with cap rom

I'm currently using cog 2.3b2. I'd like to have hsupa but only i9000 kernal and modem from setiron supports it. How do I flash a setiron's kernal and use cognitions rom? I'm familiar with using cwm and odin. Would I flash the kernal first then the rom on top of it all using cwm?

All I did was flash the new version of cog then I used Odin to flash the kernel and it s works fine for me depending on your cappy you night have to flash to stock then the jg8 etc.

running cog 2.3b4 with sentirons 1.3.5! Two words: crazy fast

Is there a firmware higher than UGJL2 for the Bell Galaxy

If so what is it?
Sent from my GT-P1000M using Tapatalk
Nope. It's the latest.
jpy and other 2.2.1 firmwares run ok on i9000m.. using jl2 modem
recommend you use docs kitchen and create a rom with jpy for the phone with jl2 modem..
also tak a look at speedmod kernel

Root for jvo ?

Hi guys just updated to jvo but cant find any info on a rooted kernel.
Is there one out yet ?

Ha I'll second that, I can find loads on JVK & JVH but nothing on JVO,
oh well guess it won't be long
And have you tried the JVH kernels at least? They seem to work on JVO too. (Read their threads) - I am on JVO and running fugumod kernel
Also you can root the JVO with fuguroot and go back to stock after rooting. Check ramads thread for stock JVO kernel and nikademus thread for fuguroo.
This one works fine for me.
Thanks guys forgot about this thread found cf root for jvo in end.

[Q] H data connection gone after kk4

Since installing a kk4 ROM I no longer get H symbol for data connection. Any ideas as to why? I'm on Rogers network with captivate. Thanks

When I switch back to apex. H data shows up again.

Really? This has been known and covered since the first I9000 FROYO Ports.
I9000 modem/kennels offer hsupa
I897 do not.
Sorry for the noob question. So i'm on TRusello effen ROM. Can I change to i9000 kernel and modem?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 using xda premium
Not if you wanna boot up...
Firmware has to match kernel for gingerbread, on froyo you could mix I897 firmware with I9000 kernel and modem but on gingerbread it will Get stuck on the kernel splash and go no farther.
^ I honestly didn't realize this. (with Gingerbread that is) Thanks.
Try to see what modem you are using in the apex rom; it will be in the about phone section. Download that modem and flash that over the KK4 rom. Should work. (I had the same problem but with AT&T so i don't know what modem you use)
An I897 modem and an I9000 kernel or vice versa, will cause very awful static during phone calls.
Not true.....Mine works fine!

Wait what? I9000 modem on I897 rom+kernel working fine with no static?
no.. i897 modem....i9000 kernel...(ics beta 1)

Modem: JL3
Kernel: Fugumod i9000
You are running I9000 kernel AND i9000 modem. ICS no clue wth that is so GB rules don't necesary apply. But I promise you it isn't possible to use I9000 modem with out static at the very least.
