I don't think this pertains to the rom very much, so I think it's better to make a separate thread (had same issue using the app on cm7). It downloads the wrong album art for everything and the only way to keep it from showing it is to disable embedded artwork, too. I'd like to be able to display the embedded, so is there any way to keep it from getting internet access or disabling the artwork folder on the sd card? Any help is appreciated.
Disable dl album art
Use another app to get album art I use album art grabber

I have many folders in my gallery of pics such as album art, game pics, splash screens etc which I don't want in my gallery. Is there an app or way to stop the gallery from watching certain folders. Also have the same problem with music and video where game music and videos show up.
Thanks alot

Create a blank file named .nomedia and put it in each folder. Everything in the folder and any folder below should be hidden.
Is there a way to that on my phone or do I have to do on my comp which is at home?

Check JustPictures app from market
A lot faster and more options than standard Gallery app

Its not really a lot faster but it does have options, its significantly slower though since it shows higher resolution/quality images.

you can stop the media scanner by command or by app (search in dev section)
I have a similar issue and I am going mad with my 1000s of media art showing on gallery. There should be a way to manually assign afolder for indexing.

Right, i like opt-in more as well, but nowadays it is opt-out everywhere.
What i did was putting empty .nomedia file in all main folders so media scan is fast now. Gallery and MP3 Player are of course empty now, but since i use QuickPic and PowerAmp as alternatives that allow opt-in, i do not care.
Before that i used Rescan Media Root to disable media scanning completely, but this had the bad side effect of loosing custom ring tones after reboot.
Just picked up a 32 gig sd card and synced 8 gig of music with windows media player and no album art is showing. What am i doing wrong?
And I accidently posted this in the developer forum originally. I'm not a noob just using the xda app I accidently clicked the wrong forum sorry mods.

Well i did it again. Posted a thread then solved the prolblem. For anyone else wondering go to an album, hit menu, select auto update album information, and let it download it all and your good. Just odds that media player didn't do it already

I know you can add the .noart option to your media folder but that also hides the album art from music player apps.
I don't want to rely on an app like Quickpic, I would like to maintain full functionality of the stock gallery app since some other apps give you the option to choose between the two.
Okay, answered my own question LOL. Vaulty works well for this.
Is there a way to exclude music album art from the stock Sony photo app (Xperia T running 4.3)? Album covers currently flood my photo library.
Thanks
Add a .nomedia file to your music folder

Doesn't this hide the actual mp3 files from apps such as Google Play Music?

Yes, it does hide all mp3 files also; not a solution.
As far as I know, there is no solution. I just use Quickpic and remove the in-built gallery/album app (or just don't use it, if you don't want to remove it). With Quickpic you can pick which folders you want to include, or pick which folders you want to exclude, or hide. A lot more versatile than the default Android app, and 10 times faster.
Hi, my name is Jason. I'm new to this site. First off, I've been reading around the site. Good questions and answers and very helpful.
I recently installed a whole bunch of songs from my laptop on to my G4. Upon opening the music player I realize that only a handful of albums have the album art. I installed around 100 artists and maybe 15 of them have the cd cover art. One of them has only 1 song and when I hold down the default album art, it brings up the option to Change Album Art. So I did. However, when I do that same thing on all the other albums that have more than one song in it, the Change Album Art doesn't even come up as an option.
Am I doing something wrong...or am I just not seeing where I need to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried running this app?

It's been working great on my G4.
Funny enough, I just discovered this app yesterday. I installed it and it works great. Thanks for the response...I appreciate it. I'd still like to know why the music player allowed me to change the album art on 1 or 2 artists, but not on the rest. Seems kinda goofy. Thanks again though.
