[Q] Send SMS with MS Outlook 2010 - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Can someone please explain how I can enable sms sending with outlook via TD2? I have found this, but unfortunately I have Energy ROM 29 Apr and I have no connectivity nor any Menu > Options.. > Exchange Server > Check Text Messages > OK. I have posted a similar message on the Energy ROM thread, but as I've understood, i need MS Exchange 2010 installed or something. Can someone help me out a bit? Thanks in advance!!!

No notification / alertsound for direct push from exchange subfolders?

Hi there!
I searched the forum using google - but couldnt find a solution for my problem: I am using an exchange server with directpush on my WM 6.1 (no thrills v3 rom)... notification works perfect when the new mail is in the standard inbox -> but when my server side filter rules move the new mail into a subfolder, then my mobile device doesnt alert me that a new mail arrived!
I HAVE already marked the responding subfolders as "synced" (mobile outlook -> extras -> manage folders) but still no alert for those folders?
Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

You are right, there's no solution!
At least not when you use WM Outlook.
Only workaround is to use FlexMail. (Or maybe another 3rd party app)
Hm Flexmail ok... - are u using this one? Any experiences compared to pocket outlook? What about exchange implementation (like scheduler - time coordination between participants etc) and traffic?

No, I don't use FlexMail. Sorry, can't help you with that.
I tested Flexmail: Notification functions with every sort of account except MAPI and so except the communication with the Exchange server. Too bad
Can this be true? If we want to use push-mail / contacts / whatever together with our exchange server, then we cannot use subfolders and rulesets because only the basefolder will pop up a notification?
Is there no update / patch for pOutlook?
Try Watchflag, works with built in email client in windows mobile and allows to alert on subfolders. $20 though.
Yeah, I had this same problem, too. I have a Windows Mobile 6 device syncing with Microsoft Exchange. I have server-side rules set up to automatically route emails to different folders, which are synced.
The solution? Well, I couldn't find one, so I wrote one:
http://www.blackmonlabs.com/
It's a lightweight Today screen plugin that will display all your unread emails, in all your folders and accounts. As you read your mail, the display will automatically update. Also, you can configure each mail account to have its own alert as new messages arrive.
The free version supports alerts and sum-total emails for each account. (like the Messaging plug-in, but includes all your unread emails, not just the inbox)
For the $10 activation fee, you get the ability to have the today screen break out the folders with unread messages, so you can navigate directly there.
Cheers!

Any chance this could be implemented for HTC users? In HTC sense, there is no homescreen ;(

Where have the emails gone? Please, help me..

Hi all.
Please, could anybody help me? After reading a received email message, when I tap send/receive again, all the received e-mails disappear. I don´t know why.. I have my mail account via pop3
Go with IMAP instead of POP. Just erase the account and do a completely new set up. make sure to put IMAP in the account type and give it a go.
Do some searching -- there is a bug and a patch from microsoft with a possible fix for this issue.
I have the same problem with the mails disapearing from the inbox when I select 'send & recieve' but the only patch I can find is to solve a problem with emails not being sent...???
Could anyone please help me finding the patch to prevent mails disapearing automatically - or maybe a step by step guide? ;-)
Thanx to all, 1st: my mail provider does not support IMAP yet.
2nd: I found if I set downloading "today" emails, after send/receive all of the read email are gone, but if I set the period for downloading last 3 days, the stay in phone for three days so that all (I think)..

Is there an outlook version for WM?

I am trying to get outlook on my herald..but gosh I see i exists due to a manual I found, but where can I download it and buy it?? There is only office mobile popping up..which does not include the outlook part?!!? isnt it weird?
Help me out guys.
its included in default ROM for t-mobile. Its under messaging options. Before you tell it to jump immediately to SMS messages when you hit the messaging button, it gives you an option to go to Outlook.

Exchange 2010 ROM Compatibility Thread

As some of you might know Exchange 2010 has this great new Text Message syncing. Unfortunately, there are a lot of ROMs that are not compatible with this feature. Considering it can take upwards to an hour to check for each to see it works, it can get quite tedious waiting for a ROM to download, flashing it, and then finding out it doesn't work for you. Hopefully, with help from the community, we can make this little list more complete

For a rom to be compatible it must:
Receive existing messages from Exchange
Send new messages to Exchange
Receive "Congratulations!" email after first sync
Supports sendings text messages from Outlook OWA
Currently I have seen different issues with ROMs.
Partial sync: Server sends messages to phone. Phone never sends to the server. New messages are never updated on Exchange. Slow synchronization process. "Congratulations!" email is never received.
No sync: No SMS messages are synced at all

Nice idea, CLShortfuse. This is the kind of thing that makes the community worth watching. There is so much "what is the best ROM", "if you like my work here is my (Paypal) link to buy me a coffee", and other crap. When someone has an idea with some value for the community it should not go unnoticed. Thanks!
(Please, don't anyone hi-jack the thread by responding to me here. Do it elsewhere. This thread is about EXCHANGE COMPATABILTY.)
Some general information about Text Messages in Exchange 2010
Hello CLShortfuse,
I stumbled on your posting about this new feature "Text Message" sync. At this moment I'm testing the "L26_HD2[LEO]V3.1_NLD.rar" from http://www.laurentius26.net and I'm unsure if it works. I did not receive the welcome message, butt I never Remote Whiped the device from the mobile phone list in the Outlook Web Access page.
I'm searching some general information, should it be so that you do not need a third party SMS gateway? Every SMS you create in Outlook or on OWA is send to the Phone and the Phone puts it on the GSM network to be delivered?
All SMS received on the phone are synced to your Inbox aswell on OWA and Outlook?
Any 'best practise' webpage information somewhere?
Regards Tom
Edit
It also didn't work with the Dutch Stock rom installed on the HD2, it could be that my Exchange 2010 is missing a setting.
Laurentius26_LEOV4.5_NLD.rar ROM for Leo HD2
Findings:
•Receive existing messages from Exchange
No, no reception existing messages on WM phone.
•Send new messages to Exchange
No, no reception new messages from WM phone to Inbox.
•Receive "Congratulations!" email after first sync
Yes it receives Congratulations E-mail
•Supports sendings text messages from Outlook OWA
Half, when send it is received inmediately on the phone, it doesn't send it, it starts sending the SMS when I send an SMS on the phone. So the OWA created SMS's are que'd up until a SMS created on the phone is send.
So no full support same result with HTC sense as with Window-Standard as the today plugin, no difference.
Going to check the next Laurentius Rom "L26V1WWE655_UltimatePOWER.rar"
Cheers Tom
Don't know if you want other rom's but I'm currently running Don Salaris rom (WM6.5 and Sense 2.1) on my Touch Diamond and it works with the fantastic SMS sync feature!
i am running Exchange 2010 i have not had any problems with it yet but please use caution now your Email admin can read you text now btw

This actually works. The only thing is there will be an error message pop up if I send a sms through it.

Outlook 2010 + Jeyo Mobile Extender + email account(!) = bugs(?!), otherwise it works

Hi guys! Sorry to raise this thread, but looks like it's the most relevant one.
Overall Jeyo looks a good program. But I have already chosen ver. 2010 too.. I've read that some people just assume that Jeyo is not working with v. 2010.
I have just tried Jeyo Mobile Extender (JME) 2.5 build 1280 on Win7 32bit/64bit, combined with Outlook 2007/2010 (both 32 bit only), and I have found that there are some nasty errors showing up with Outlook 2010. They do not show up with Outlook 2007. Jeyo site shows that Outlook 2007 is supported. 2010 is not mentioned, but all my previous JME tests half a year ago with ver. 2010 were successfull (until I started adding email accounts a few days ago!).
I have tried it with Outlook 2010 (also tried sending SMS from desktop) again these days, seems like it's working at first glance, just those weird error messages and Outlook crashes sometimes (on disabling add-in / disconnecting phone / closing Outlook).
One interesting thing I have found, that if there are no email accounts in Outlook 2010, then there are no crashes / error messages! Can you winmo dev people look in a little, please?
Maybe these error messages can be safely ignored? Maybe some workaround would be good, e.g. always leave add-in disabled when disconnected, then when you need it, do these in this (or some better?) sequence:
Launch Outlook
Enable Jeyo add-in
Connect the phone
Manage your SMS'es etc.
Disconnect the phone
Disable Jeyo add-in
(close Outlook if not needed) (but I think I saw Outlook crashing on this step)
I have read and tried things in this thread too: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-pro-2/102303-anyone-running-jeyo-office-2010-beta-2.html , but the errors still show up with "Outlook 2010 + email account present".
I wrote an email letter to Jeyo support, but I haven't received their reply before, so I'm not having too much hope to receive it this time. However, here are the details I have wrote to them, this might be helpful to you. At the end is the error log of the error that shows up when starting Outlook with Jeyo add-in enabled with one dummy email account (just enter whatever info when creating account, and don't test the connection; you can better even disconnect from internet while testing if you want).
Here goes the message.
Subject: EAccessViolation exception when an email account is present in Outlook - Jeyo Mobile Extender (Windows Mobile) - Access violation at address 0CD5F7A3 in module 'JME.dll'. Read of address 00000000
Body:
Please help me.
I have purchased a license for Jeyo Mobile Extender (Windows Mobile), installed it and it worked OK. And now when I tried to add my first email account (it's POP3 account from gmail) to my Outlook, I see that JME.dll throws an error when I start Outlook and/or try enable/disable JME add-in.
As soon as I remove an email account, there are no errors shown.
As soon as I add it back - errors are showing again. It doesn't matter what account settings I enter or whether I test the connection to mail server, and it doesn't matter if I add this account to a different PST file, or to the same default Outlook.PST. I have tried it with Outlook Hotmail connector installed (I don't use hotmail though) and without it, it's still with errors.
With email account present, if I disable JME add-in (in Outlook), relaunch Outlook, and then reenable JME add-in, then it connects to my phone SMS folders, but the stability looks yet suspicious because after closing Outlook errors show up again, errors show up after I relaunch Outlook again.
Looks like some configuration (maybe accounts configuration?) is misread/miswritten when initializing JME add-in?
At the bottom of this email message is an error log from an error thrown when starting Outlook. After clicking OK, I don't see JME add-in loaded in Outlook (but I can still disable and then reenable it).
I need to use Outlook for email and with JME too.
It's on Windows 7 64 bit, JME version 2.5 build 1280.
I have just tried reinstalling JME for WinMo (I mean reinstalling the JME windows (desktop) application). It didn't help, the same problem.
Also I have just tried a similar setup with just a clean Win7 install (32 bit Windows this time). The same problem after I add the email account, and it disappears right after I remove the email account.
MS Office and Outlook is 32 bit in all instances that I've tried.
How can this be fixed or at least worked-around, please?

Modules Information: [skipping it, so that I wouldn't flood this thread]
Edit1: I noticed that by default Outlook 2007 adds email accounts to default Outlook.pst file, while 2010 by default adds them to a separate pst file. I have tried changing pst files in both 2007 and 2010 (i.e. use 2007 account with nondefault pst file and use 2010 account with Outlook.pst), but it didn't change anything regarding errors.
Edit2: Adding a dummy IMAP account to Outlook 2010 didn't introduce errors. (I haven't tried connecting the phone, but Outlook is opening/closing normally without errors with Jeyo add-in enabled).
Afterwards I have changed account details to some real gmail IMAP account. Then I closed Outlook. All looked OK. But when I launched Outlook again, similar nasty EAccessViolation error has appeared (and then I saw real email messages downloaded to my Outlook IMAP folders); so this might be relevant.
Any and all ideas would be helpful!..
Thanks!
-riuk
