hello all i got my new tytn 2 a few days ago i also have the tytn i cant get my gmail to download to the phone useing my 3 ireland internet but it woks fine on the wifi i think its a setting that i am missing also i put the tomtom on it and ireland in not in the list for the one free map whats the next best things i can use
Has anyone got the connection settings for the Kaiser on 3 Ireland?
have a look at www.filesaveas.com they should have the connection details there
3 ireland and gmail
I can't get it to work also.. however it's nothing to do with settings... Its something to do with 3's network blocking pocket outlook express.. there's two work arounds... download the gmail java program which isn't blocked or else look through the threads there is someone else with a problem with at&t... there is a workaround using active sync and a free service from some online place.. using microsofts direct push... I have lost the link to the thread....
Have you managed to get Windows Live working on three.. or only when on WiFi.. this i believe has the same problem..
apn settings for 3 ireland are.. 3ireland.ie that's all you need... there's no username and password... for the rest of the setup.. run auto config.. and choose 3 in the uk.. then go back in and change the apn to 3ireland.ie

I don't know if this is a workaround, since I don't have a problem with pocket outlook, but I use Seven Beta to push my gmail account and my work email that uses google apps. It works flawlessly. Seven came out with a new beta version at the end of last year that is greatly improved, although their contact sync doesn't work properly yet. But this is a great way for me to get around using mail2web, or using pull for my email.
http://community.seven.com/forum/main.php
If you don't know about Seven, they develop email apps for phone companies. The native ATT Tilt software called Xpressmail is just the latest full Seven release.
I had BBC 4.0.0.67 working on my 8525, and a couple of days ago bought the HTC Tytn II (Kaiser). On initial startup, using the SIM from my 8525, the Tytn II set up my AT&T data connection. Phone calls and 3G internet surfing worked fine. The Tytn set my data connection to use isp.cingular and I added the wap.cingular connection. I use the wap.cingular connection.
I first tried Blackberry connect 4.0.0.90 which would not connect to the BB server even though I had a good 3G internet connection. I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T who finally said it was a Blackberry problem and they transferred me to Blackberry. I spent an hour on the phone with them, and they concluded it was AT&T. Blackberry support transferred me back to AT&T. The AT&T manager basically said: we don't support a non AT&T phone on Blackberry...and we don't support blackberry connect. I will point out everyone was very nice throughout this over 2 hour ordeal.
So I removed BBC .90, cleaned out all traces, and reloaded the 4(1).0.0.84 AT&T Tilt version from the HTC America site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327695
and surprise, everything works perfectly on 3G and Edge. Blackberry BES for my work exchange email (synching email, calendar, contacts, and notes) and BIS for my personal email accounts. The Blackberry web browser also works fine.
At my firm I have the option to install BBC or Good. I have Good running but I'm wondering about BBC. Does it work like Good in that there is a separate application running that you need to open for mail/calendar/contacts, and it's not integrated into the native apps? Or is it like using a blackberry where everything is integrated. Thanks!
It's fully integrated into the native apps. BBC creates WM6 mail accounts for my exchange email and personal email accounts, the contacts are in the WM6 standard contacts database, and the appointments are in the standard calendar. All of these (except personal email) are bi-directionally syncronized with my exchange server.
do you have an AT&T blackberry data plan?
Yes. blackberry unlimited
Just one more question - for the corporate email, can you add an attachment to an email that is stored on the mobile unit?

I read this in an article which is what prompted me to ask. What the article is describing sounds like Good, where it's a separate application.... "The new BlackBerry application suite will complement existing Windows Mobile 6 functionality and will appear as an icon on the screen, in the same manner as other third-party applications. Clicking the icon will prompt a suite of BlackBerry applications, including push e-mail functionality, calendar, address book and others, to load. "
Can one run both the Outlook and the Blackberry connect in the same device (Kaiser) at the same time?
Also, I attempted to install BB connect and I was prompted to first disable my password. I could not find a way to do that without first eliminating the Outlook connection to the Exchange server. Is there another way?

My guess is the author was not familiar with the WM6 environment. There is a BB icon in settings and on the bottom of the today screen, but it brings up the bbc configuraton utility. The apps are fully integrated in the native wm6 apps.

If you use BBC to synch contacts, appointments, notes, and tasks, you cannot also synch them via activesynch/WMDC or exchange sync. It's one method or the other. I have not set up a POP account on my Tytn because I have all my personal POP email go through the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).
I'm not sure if you can exchange sync email and use BBC for email too.

Yes, but it seems like you are limited to 32K or smaller.
So, here's the deal. I also got this to work on my second day of having my TyTN II. I called AT&T and tricked them into thinking I had purchased an unlocked BB from a dealer and they switched me over to the BB Unlimited plan so I could use BES to connect to my corp email. I installed the PC software, and the handheld SW. And got everything working. It started downloading all my emails, inbox and sent. I chose not to sync my calendar until I confirmed it worked.
BUT...
Something very strange happened. Basically, it went thru my calendar, saw all my meetings that were on my calendar for the last week and in the future and started to RESEND ALL THE MEETING INVITES AS IF THEY WERE FROM ME.
So, if I had a meeting that I was invited to next week, along with 3 others. It sent out a meeting invitation through my email to the other 3 participants (excluding the original meeting organizer) and sent it as if I was the meeting organizer. So I ended up with duplicate meetings on my calendar, and it duplicated everyone else's calendar. So people had 2 meeting ivntes, one from me, and one from the original organizer.
Needless to say, this was a big problem. Fortunately, i cuaght it before it went thru my entire calendar, but ti still managed to send out about 40 meetings invites, some to large groups of people!
I immediately removed the BBC software and switched my plan back.
I don't know why it happened. I can't explain it. Has anyone else who gets the new Kaiser-compatible BBC installed had this issue? Or did it work as expected?
I would prefer to get BBC working, but I can't risk having that happen again!

That is very strange. BBC works great on mine and setup without issue.
GREAT news!!! since AT&T has not oficially released the "tilt" I'm assuming that you're using and HTC branded Kaiser, are you using the original ROM or did you Flash witht he AT&T ROM?
I'm eagerly awaiting for the delivery of my Kaiser
Thanks
Vinny

I am using the original rom that came on the device. It took less than 5 minutes to set up.
Ditto. OEM ROM.
Has anyone used this on Tmobile? I know BB connect works on the Dash, but not on the Wing and I would hate to drop that much money to find out that it doesn't work with Tmobile.
Thanks for responding, I hope this holds true with other carrier than AT&T, I expect to have my kaiser within the next week or so, I'm in Mexico and my carrier is Telcel, I will report back as soon as I try this.
Cheers
Vinny
That's great that it was so easy to set up and use.
One question though....I have been using BbConnect on my 8525 for a while now, and always have difficulty accessing things such as Cellular Video or XM Radio or MobiTV through the Bb unlimited data plan. Usually aI have to disconnect the BB Connect service to access those.
Do you know if these services/apps work with the unlocked Tytn II and Blackberry Connect?
Thanks!
I have gotten BBC to work and I am generally pleased with it except the 32k limit sucks.
I have a couple questions that I'm wondering if anyone else has figured out.
First, my work email shows up in a folder called "Desktop" which is different that the general "Outlook Email" folder. Why is there a difference?
Also, when sending meeting invitations, I don't have the option to use the work (i.e., "Desktop") account, only the Outlook Email account which is not connected. Any ideas how to remedy this?
Thanks!
Hello,
I recently upgraded by ATT Treo 750 to Windows Mobile 6 (WM6) and lost the ability to check my Hotmail with Outlook. I have seen a few threads with installing Live, etc but all i want to do is be able to use the Outlook App to check my Hotmail! Has anyone else figured out this one? When you try the setup via Outlook it basically just sends you to IE. Thanks!
hmm well the thing is with live installed it basically gives you push mail for your hotmail without paying for a premium account, i know hotmail used to charge for pop access and such but Im unsure if they still do. When it opens IE when trying to set it up it's most likely a page telling you to set it up in Live as far as I can remember. The only other thing I can think of other than getting live or an exchange account is to see if you can manually input your settings for your hotmail account, assuming that you have pop access to your account though.
ATT did it
Basically, WM6 has the same pocket MSN as WM5 with the Outlook HTTP sync for Hotmail. ATT stripped that function out of WM6...i have been talknig to MS to find out how to re-install it but they are not helping much.
Like some of you already noticed. There is a problem with Live Messenger and Vodafone, which denies access to the Live Messenger server. with this client the problems are solved. i just tested it and i got back online!
http://www.allaboutphones.nl/forum/download.php?id=1489
no one has use for it?
so your saying it will accept wifi connection and not data gprs?
tvos
It just works like normal. Vodafone or Microsoft have blocked connections to Windows Live Messenger. with this client it works again with HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE/WIFI
I was able to install the app and use it with my tilt w/no problems over wifi.
Thank You!
tvos
Thx, this is just what a friend of my needed.
i don't use IM MSN much on the pocket pc, but at times it has been helpful. it was a pisser to find out that AT&T choose to use their data network restricting wifi to the OZ IM application.
anyways, thank you!
tvos
Just tested it on 2nd vodafone device. And it works. thx.
this version saves the msn contacts in the contacs list..
ugghh
is there a hack to prevent this?
This is the version 10.6.23.300 and the most recent version is 10.6.33.600
Hmmm. I had problems as well and remembered a post from someone stating that the use of the proxy in the Voafone GPRS connection settings was causing the problem. After unchecking the "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" it magically worked!
I am now using Dutty's ROM v3 (need to update my signature) and radio ROM 11.31.
Please let me know if this worked for you guys!
Edward
No it does not work, i still can't connect to the MSN network via WLM.
What kind of version of WLM do you use, to connect to the network?
yes.. but the latest version doesn't work
But the old version adds your MSN contacts to your contact list @ mobile phone.. that sucks ;x.. but it works.. Grmbl..
yes..
i have more than 170 contacts on msn, so i had to put on fring..
mah.. i really don't understand why they are blocking msn..
:|
do you guys think it is possible to crack the latest version without the annoying contacts sync?
i'm looking in to it now.. using fring too..
I suspect that this is from windows mobile 5? as all the files are dated 30 October 2006.
I've got a call open with M$ at the moment, and the "helpful" chap is suggesting I try a reset (like I havn't done that 100 times before).
I'll let you know how it goes.
Also, the problem is on Three as well as Vodafone, but its OK on Orange and T-Mobile. Can't confirm o2 either way though
I installed MSN messenger .cab yesterday and it works beautiful!
I had a question though!
When I login to my account, it says that it will put all my contacts via IM in my exchange email contact address book. Whats the story with this and can I say "NO" to this option? Will this screw up my outlook email address book?
I removed those earlier from the address book not realizing it deleted a few MSN IDS.. Thank God for restore!
please advise!
tvos
I installed it on my vodafone 1615 and ik worked I say ik worked because indeed it imports all your msncontacts in your addressbook even the contacts where you already entered the messagge-contact in their info, they are doubled so i removed it again and wait for a newer version
Thanks man. I had for 3 weeks some problems with windows live and after installing this cab it works like a charm.
Thanks m8!
Has anyone here successfully set up Vodafone Business Email on a windows mobile device. I'm paying for it, but am having a terrible time setting it up to play with our server.
I know it's probably a bit niche, but any advice would be good.
I'm entering all the information that it needs, but won't logon to the mailbox. Maybe it's the format I'm putting it in has.
email addres: email address I want to use
Password: users password.
Login name: domainname\username
Mail server: ip address.
I have never used Vodafone Business Email, so I wil give some general advice.
Have you tried setting up Outlook (Express) on your PC? Does it work then? By following this method you can check whether the problem is your Kaiser or your account (details).
So what is the exact error message? Only "access denied"?
Have you tried setting up your device by using your Kaiser to surf to http://email.vodafone.net? Maybe that will work...
Hope this will get you somewhere...
I used to support Vodafone Internally, try the link http://email.vodafone.net/ota this should give you the correct client for your device, I know that initially they had problems as the WM5 client would download which is incorrect but if you go from your device it should detect the correct one which I am guessing will be the WM6 for Kaiser one. Before you do it though please remember to uninstall the one you already have on your device as that can cause problems.
Im using Vodafone Business email. I couldnt set it up just like you.
What you need to do is contact Vodafone. Say that you have a hard to set it up and if they would be so kind to send the settings to your device.
You'll recive a text messages displaying that your device has been updated. Soft Reset and your done.
It worked for me Hope it does for you too.
