Hey, i just updated to CM7.0.3 from Nookie Froyo. With froyo it was clocked at 1100Mhz and it was very snappy. However, CM7 is limited to a max speed of 925Mhz which is ok, but it doesnt seem right since i just flashed the latest kernal. So far i have tried reinstalling the rom+kernal, clearing the dalvik, and so on but it still has not changed. I had even installed the latest uboot 1.2(says Reading Forever on boot). What am i doing wrong?
Every time you flash a CM7 Nightly or CM7 Stable which both have their own kernels maxed at 925, you then have to re-flash the separate Overclock kernel to 1.1 (stable) or to 1.3 (test builds). From your post not sure if that was done. Once you do that, then you can change the speed in CM7.

I think all builds released after Nightly 61 on May 5th (including Stable 7.0.3) will need the modified kernel.
Worse case scenario: if it doesn't boot, hold the Nook button + power while turning on, then let go, get into recovery, re-flash 7.0.3 and you'll be back to where you were.
Thanks man, but doesn't seem to really work. It just shows the word "Android" horizontally on the left side of the screen, and then it shows a tiny white dash in the top right corner(held vertically). Then it just stays that way. Hate to take up your time, but any ideas about that?

Restore your last nandroid and flash the latest version of Clockwork 3.0.2.8, I suspect that you still are using 3.0.1. I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, then use the kernel attached in the post above and it absolutely should work.

Hmm, maybe the stable is still on the original 04/24 ?
Here's the original one:

Otherwise, try the latest nightly perhaps? (With the modified ext4 0424 kernel)
I'm running Nightly 74 with the modified ext 4 kernel without issues.

Dont worry, im on 3.0.2.8 for CW. About to try that new kernel...
I am getting the same exact results on 7.03 stable. My nook is 4 days old, went straight to this build. Booting from SD card
The nightly build 74 did the trick! It finally shows the other frequencies. I cant thank you enough!

Phiremod isn't cm7 its just a themed nookie froyo... cm7 is being kept private until it's perfect. Be patient and time will reward you.

From what I have read to date.. I would say yes, but it is not seeing all the apps. As this build is currently in Beta, and the Devs debugged the market only to the point of Google registration and no further.. yet.
This is subject to change, even hourly so hold on to your seat.

this is an open source build. anyone can contribute changes/fixes and if they are approved they go in to the nightly build. so yes, every night a new build will be made even if there are no changes.
Why thank you!
The Nook forums are a breath of fresh air coming from the wild west of the Vibrant forums. Here seems to be, well, more mature, IMO.
Digging the separate "Dev" and "user forums". Lets the Devs do their work.
nah all ive seen is original, nightly (under the name encore not nook), and phiremods. ive been looking too
Sorry for the noobie question but.....
What is CM7? I'm familiar with the android builds,
Eclair, Froyo, Honeycomb, etc., but not CM7.
Thanks
Never mind! I found out myself. Should have just googled CM7 in the first place. Thanks anyway!
format SD card?
I have CM7 running on the nook. For some reason I am having trouble with the SD card. I am new to android, so bear with me. When using the Nook's OS there was a format SD card option, but I can't seem to find this in the CM7 build. How do I go about formatting so that I can use titanium backup? I have tried formatting to fat32, and that does not seem to work. SD card shows up, but I can't see my files. Thanks for any help on this.

They put out the 7-flavour for about a dozen phones but I haven't seen a dedicated NC ROM.
What device-version of CM7 did you use? How did you flash it (Clockwork or Fastboot)?
I don't have my NC yet but am doing research for next week...
[edit] all answered here...
Has anyone noticed that there is a new nightly CM7 build available - 39? Its dated today, but I haven't seen anyone talking about it. Has anyone flashed it yet, and if so, what has been changed since stable build was issued?

Thanks, but I went there, and nothing came up, just a blank black screen.
I was really just trying to see if anyone had actually tried it yet. I didn't see anything in the developers thread either.
You'll want to use something other than IE to view the changelog site (and the internet in general). Chrome works fine.
CM7 has a pretty wide audience so more often than not the dailies are not going to do much for the NookColor specifically. Most the time if there's a NC specific feature bump there will be a bunch of new threads pretty quickly.

Nightly 64 was listed as 2.3.4 and this is 2.3.3? User thread for CM7 seemed to comment that 64 had the sleep repaired? Is that correct? Because of the 2.3.3 numbering, are there features that 64 had that 7.0.3 stable is missing?
What do we use to overclock to 1.3? The original 4/24 or one modified for different ext type? Will Dal's new 2.6.32 kernel that is supposed to come out shortly, be the best one to use with 7.0.3 stable?

Weird. 7.0.3 is Android 2.3.3.
Let me ask a dumb question - you don't need SetCPU for overclocking anymore correct? You just set it in the Cyanogenmod/Performance settings (with the OC kernel of course) right? Thats what I did and it seems to be working. Also, where do I get this 1.3ghz kernel? Just got 7.0.3 on, seems to be good....

Is that kernel going to be incorporated into CM7 or is this something that one can only get by using the OC kernel? In other words those that don't really want to overclock but would like better battery life etc, can they just stick to downloading the latest CM7 builds or they have to incorporate dal's kernel?

He's right, I have to post here for now.
I can reflash it shortly, just wanted to check though:
1.) Will reflashing the rom erase everything I've done so far on it (I'm guessing it will if I "Wipe Data", which brings me to my second question)?
2.) Should I only "Wipe Cache" when I reflash it or do I have to "Wipe Data" too?
Thanks for your help
Where are people finding 7.2? I do not see that in the listed CM7 ROMS.....
Ok, I wiped the Cache, reflashed just the rom, wiped the cache again, wiped the Dalvik Cache, and then rebooted. Tried to connect to VPN and it did the same thing. It connects to my VPN and then within 5 seconds, it locks up.

It seems not a kernel problem then. I have no way of checking a VPN connection now. If that is not a problem on the other side of connection, I would recommend trying an official nightly from the CM site.

I don't think it is a connection problem, because my Atrix with CW7 on it connects with no problem to it.
The Nook Color will rarely leave my house anyways, I just wanted to see if I was doing anything wrong and make sure people know this seems to be a problem.
Which of these kernels do you recommend for now then (VPN isn't that important, rather have a better performance device):

Based on Dalingrin's encore kernel, built a modular kernel by configuring the uncommonly used features (they are still available) as kernel modules. Just a heads up Devil3_1.4.1_Jellybean_vibrant_CFS_BLN_VC_20120905 is causing CM10 nightly 9-17 to fail boot up. When you would normally see the blue Cyanogenmod circle, all you get is a black screen after flashing Devil 1.4.1. I've tried reflashing many times with Devil 1.4.1 to no avail. I can confirm that it is not a corrupt file as I have verified that the sha256 hash of the file is f7e321eee1992f35f7b963ccc23f987d319b86f82c04936e094edfc430d9ae40.

I actually just flashed it right on top of it. Once getting the blank screen I pulled battery, went into recovery, and used KCS, flashed kernel again and the same thing happened. But yeah I think you are right probably best not to use that outdated script anymore. I think my issue is that AOKP may not have merged the CM teams gpu changes. Which I find weird, I thought they used the latest CM code... Oh well, guess it'll work in the next build.
So many thanks for this! This is seriously the first time in probably a year that the GPS actually works on this damn phone! That and it's the first kernel I've ever used that consistently lets me overclock my phone without issues galore.
This kernel with CM10 is seriously the best Android experience I've ever had on my phone.

Correction: I booted once, but with black screen. Try to "adb reboot recovery" and it sat forever on the Samsung screen. Tried to pull battery, can't get to recovery.
It's tricky getting back into recovery after the 1.4.1 flash with CM10 0917 nightly. You need to hold "Volume Down + Home & Power" until it cycles through the Devil kernel boot screen, and as soon as it reboots and shows the the "Vibrant" boot screen, release the power button while still holding onto Volume down & Home. It take a little timing and a few tries to get the power release correct.
Der I just flashed Devil 1.5.2 JB kernel on top of Blackbean v4 rom after fully booting the rom with it's stock kernel. Everything was super smooth except for the fact that I get an "Unknown error code during application install:"-24" when downloading any app via the Play Store. The stock kernel doesn't exhibit this problem and it downloads apps fine. Do you have any idea what in the DEVIL JB kernel could be causing this error? Have you noticed any ill effects of having VSYNC enabled in Devil JB v1.5.2? It feels smoother to me with it enabled. Does the latest HB0921 kernel have VSYNC enabled? I noticed the HB0917 and up builds feel smoother then previous HB builds so maybe VSYNC enabled is the reason for the extra speed. Thank you so much Der for continuing to support Voodoo Color with all your Vibrant kernel builds even when all the other devs have no interest to compile a VC kernel. There are quite a few of us VC freaks who can't use anything but VC kernel. I have shown my Vibrant to numerous people comparing VC vs CMC on the same homescreen and everybody chose the VC by a long shot saying that the overall contrast, colors, and sharpness blew away CMC. I can't even look at the Galaxy S2 screen with it's bland Samsung stock colors when compared to my fabulous rich VC screen with better pixel density.

Did the market error go away, after flashing back the default kernel? Normally, this is nothing, the kernel controls, and the error codes don't tell me anything.
Vsync has been enabled long time ago, but it seems like it was causing about 5% CPU load. This got fixed now.
The hb kernel always has the same features, as I am testing new things before, and I only use my Rom.
