HD7 and AT&T 3G - HD7 General

Hi All,
I'm sure this info is in a thread here somewhere, but the search is bringing up a ton a results using the search terms and I have yet to come across a clear answer...
Will an unlocked HD7 work on AT&T's 3G network?
Thanks.

you got a free thanks, my finger slipped . answer to your question is no, but at&t has the hd7s coming in a few weeks. It will work for texts and calls, but only edge data.

Edge, but no 3G in Tennessee At&t

Hello all-
I just got in my Diamond today and after working on it about an hour, I still can only get Edge (and very small reception and SSLLOOWW data). I currently have a tilt with a flashed ROM running 6.1 and got perfect 3G reception from it here at my desk. I use At&t here. Could the lack of the 850 band be my issue. Please give me some clues or point me to a tutorial to get everything set up to par for my Diamond. I've already searched this whole forum.
Thanks a lot!
Oh dear here we go again....if you had done a search you would have saved yourself so much hassle.
The Diamond you have wont support 3G on AT&T because its missing a £G attenna...even though your settings will show that it can support the band for AT&T 3G but in reality you CANNOT get 3G access with the Diamonds that are out at the moment.
Only way your going to be able to get 3G in America is by waiting for the proper American version of the phone...as to when its out...could be july/August.
Well...Thats the bad part of me that gets way too excited. I'm going to try to return it. I'm sure my fiance that im marrying in 3 weeks will love to hear the news of my lack of research. Thanks!
LOL its ok...its just been explained a few times on here that the Diamonds that are on the market arent really suitable for the American 3G market...your just gonna have to wait a bit for the American version.
For what i's worth - thanks for your time with a stupid question.

No problems buddy, its ok...thats what we are here for...to help each other out.
Apologies if i was a bit abrupt in my first post...been a long day
no 3g
for what it is worth, i have the same issue with no 3g but i have edge and so far find it fine for what i need it for. For others, the added speed that you get may be worth it. I love my Diamond otherwise, despite the battery. I will however get the usa version when it comes out, mainly for reception purposes since i feel the lack of 850 band lessens the reception a little... But so far I love it. Btw i have the ME rom which is fast and smooth and have no issues so far other than i cant hide the SIM contacts even with the tweak.

Touch HD

Question #-1: How can I get my hands on one of these? I called HTC and they stated that this is not offered in the US.
Question #-2: Now should I be able to get my hands on this device..would the radio work on T-Mobile's Network?
Question #-3: What would be the potential cost? I can unlock it myself.
Suggest you go to the correct forum.
The Touch HD has it's own one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=451

Just because I have the time.
1. You need to buy an unlocked version online, just google it.
2. It is GSM and unlocked, it should work with T-Mobile, but is not compatible with any US 3G networks. So for now only 2G
3. You can only but it unlocked, I have seen anywhere from $700 to $1000
Thank you Denco7..that was exactly the information that I needed......I am a Tilt owner...so unlike the previous moron who posted he could have saved that shizznick for someone who cares...
Also one more thing Denco7...do you know if I could swap the Radio on that phone for the one on another HTC Touch Device thats domestic? Now If you don't know this answer..I can understand me going to the TouchHD Forum for this answer...I just thought i'd prick your head real quick...
As denco7 stated, you'll have 2G network speeds but you won't get 3G. Unfortunately, that's a hardware limitation. Something that changing the radio cannot fix.

Actually, this "moron" (thanks for that) was trying to be helpful and point you in the right direction, not trying to flame you. Honest to God, some people!!!

I can answer that!!!! It has not rolled out to all markets yet...PA is the test market and has been running great so far but will be released to all by the end of the year...no idea what order it will be...just be glad you have 3G at all I work for TMO and don't have 3G here at all so just be patient and we will have the fastest 3G network no matter what the comercials say!!!! LOL
Woot thank you
Btw I had edge so I moved to my hometown(When I get to my home town the town I left from gets 3g) ok so now Im stuck in my hometown with edge and I leave and go back to where I came from and then my hometown gets 3g.
So I've been outta 3g for a while.

Did you forget the first rule of this forum?
Use the search button. You would have found your answer faster than adding to this thread with something that's been discussed since the n7000 came out.

Good morning to you too.
Not at this time. I was told to give it about 20 more days when the Note comes out on Tmo so they can compare the 2. Then they will go from there!!

The Tmo Note has the same guts as the ATT version. I really don't think the N7000 will ever have Tmo high speed data. That is of course unless you live in an area where tmo has refarmed their 1900mhz to also use 3g data. It really is too bad because I want to use the 3g data on my Int Note too.
And aaronuser, I am sorry but that is why we have rules for the forums. Otherwise it is just clutter.
since they use different network so you only got 2g ( like my gt7000 ).But my friend just got a AT&T unlock for Tmobile at dealer in CA which able to use 3/4g with little trick...Hope this help :victory:

Hi bud,
don't get your hopes up high.. T-mobile sucks...Their 4G slate isn't even close to a real 4G connection.

AT&T vs T-Mobile in Houston, TX

The title says it all. I am moving to the Houston/Baytown area next month and will be switching from sprint to either of the two. I was wondering if anyone on here had some advice as to which one had the upper hand in 3G and LTE coverage. I've read that AT&T was fairly good in that area, but the data from the website was not too recent. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Great choice!
XDA is for discussion of mobile devices themselves, not cell carriers and their coverage. For that reason, moved to Off-topic.
