Hey everyone. I have a captivate running Spenditity 6.4 and i need to restore it back to the stock firmware to have it sent in. I CANNOT use odin because my USB port is messed up and doesn't work. I need the stock firmware in .ZIP format so I can flash in CWM, I also need it to not be rooted.
Thanks in advance
If it's Gingerbread and using ext4, which it most likely is.. and you want to go back to stock.. you need to flash using Odin in order to reformat the partitions to the correct filesystem.
Well I just installed the JH7 update with clockwork, it's rooted for some reason and I need to unroot it now. Any ideas how? I only install apps that are in the marketplace now.

sorry for such a noob question, but right now I had a odin3 stock flashed jh6 captivate and used rom manager to update to jh7. I want to reflash to stock again, but want to flash directly to jh7.
Is it possible to flash directly to jh7 and bypass jh6 altogether?

Should basically be that... except that it comes rooted already.
You also have the option of using the new "Kies Mini" to perform the update "officially":

My i9000 is on i9000xxjvb stock rom. I flashed modified kernal to make it rooted and cwm enabled. I am unable to move appear from phone memory to internal SD. An error message appears " failed to move application, not enough memory."
To get rid of this, i tried Hamsterbread 1.1 custom rom, but problem not solved. I used every method from hard reset to wipe cache, data and more. But nothing happened.
Now I want to downgrade to froyo. I don't know how to do this? Please, tell the procedure in detail and step by step. I belong to India. There is no 2.2.1 version available for India. Can I go for other regions versions? or I should stick with i9000ddjp6 which is latest verison for India. Thanks
i havnt tried downgrading. but i think you could try flashin back using odin with bootlooder froyo.
i live in india but use european firmware an see no problem
^^ Im not sure about this. I think you can just flash a Froyo ROM via CWM. I am not sure about this. It always makes sense to search around before you do either. Good Luck!
If you flash speedmod (or whatever froyo kernel you choose) through odin, then simply install whatever rom through cwm via zip file. The downgraded froyo rom doesn't need bootloaders, the gingerbread ones are backwards compatible. Tried it myself and it worked without a hitch.
Just flash any stock firmware through ODIN with pit and repartitioned tick and you are good to go.
Makes sense to open eyes and read the post that tells you how .Or even use the search button .

just download a stock froyo firmware and flash with odin. there are tutorials all over the place
just flash froyo kernel using odin and then enter clockwordmod install zip
well, i have had some issues flashing my phone to 2.3, and it is currently on continuum v5.5 working fine for a few versions. so i don't want to rush into anything and mess it up again, but i want to try another rom. im a little confused to what all i need to do to get the new phoenix rom on coming from a talon kernel.
thanks!
Just use ODIN ONE CLICK STOCK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989 and then place the rom of ur choice and flash it in CWM!! tell me if u need anything else
Odin back to stock and follow instructions in the OP for the Pheonix thread.
You need to verify that your current installed kernel is compatible with your new rom of choice.
If not:
1. Find one that is compatible, install it via odin without rebooting - then boot to recovery and install the zip file in cwm.
OR
2. Odin one click to stock and go from scratch.
If going from GB to GB rom then the important thing is the kernel compatibility or you will likely go into bootloop. Other than that wipe, reset and install.
I am just about to throw my phone at the wall.
So I was on stock 2.3.3 and decided I wanted to update to ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488096
I didn't have clockwork mod and wasn't rooted so I eventually got this working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Then I tried to install the ICS rom but it wouldn't work. I then tried to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353657 which for some reason didnt have any cell phone coverage.
I tried going back to the just rooted version of 2.3.3 but haven't been able to get the phone to go past the samsung logo / Clockwork Recovery.
Edit: Whenever I try flash the 2.3.3 rooted rom it updates me to Clockwork Mod Recovery v3.0.0.5 with HEAPS of errors.
Any ideas?
You should go back to a stock rom via Odin...you will need a rom that has 3 files (csc , modem, phone) and the Odin 512 .pit file and check the repartition box.

There was an error message, I can't recall it exactly, it couldn't execute or something. Yup I wiped data.
Flash back to stock using odin
Thanks for the help guys

I recomend flashing Codename android 1.5.5, steps:
Download the latest CNA for Galaxy S, and Gapps
Get into CWM
Wipe dalvik/cache/data
flash it
flash Gapps
Done!
HI guys, I've just sold my Note (I know, I know) and want to revert to stock ICS before sending. I've got CWM with a custom ROM. I think I read somewhere that all I need to do to revert to Stock is flash a Stock ROM?
Is that it? Will this wipe CWM etc? Anyone have a guide I could follow please?
Download the stock rom from samfirmware.com and install it using pc odin.
I recommend installing a GB rom and the reboot into recovery and do a factory reset.
connect to pc and format usb storage.

Cheers mate, any reason to go GB rather than ICS? If I revert back to GB could I then update to ICS via OTA?
reason is its safe to do a factory reset in GB and not safe in ICS. to do a factory reset in ICS, u will need to install a diff kernel
yes kies or OTA will be applicable.

Awesome, I am running Hydracore, which I thought was ok, doesn't matter better to be safe then sorry. Thanks again
Hydracore is a safe kernel and you can flash a stock rom
But it think its not required to be on a sfe kernel when you are about to flash a stock rom through pc odin
