Bought two P1000's yesterday (UK, carrier unlocked). Updated one in Kies to latest firmware and left the other as it came.
Here's the issue - On the updated Tab, whenever I rotate the home screen, the widgets seems to reload. eg, Calendar will first show "No upcoming calendar events" before then showing the appointments. This happens on every rotation. This behaviour never happened before the update, and on the Tab that wasn't updated, it doesn't do this.
Do other people get the same behaviour with the firmwares below - ie, do your widgets "reload" on rotation or not?
Is it an issue with the firmware?
It's rather annoying, especially since with a few widgets on screen, it can take a second or two to update. However, I'm more worried that this is an indication that something went wrong with the update process (though that seems unlikely).
They both started as
Firmware 2.2
Baseband P1000XXJID
Kernel 2.6.32.9 root(a)SE-S611 #1
Build FROYO.XWJJ3
Updated Tab via Kies today - this one has the widget reload issue.
Firmware 2.2
Baseband P1000XXJMA
Kernel 2.6.32.9 root(a)DELL104 #1
Build FROYO.XWJMI

I've heard alot of grumbling in regards to kinks in the Hero's hardware, in regards to battery life, sms problems, memory leaks, etc.
I havent had any of those problems in my Hero and I was wondering if I have a problem free Hero, or it's just not a huge deal to me.
I have the 1.5 firmware
Kernel Version is 2.6-27-533ce29d
build number is 1.29.651.1 CL69164 release-keys
software: 1.29.651.1
hardware: 0002
I live in the US and it is branded "with Google" on the back.
either way, I'm looking forward to the Eclair update soon.
thanks, I'm a total noob to this phone and Android
I believe you have the same phone as everyone else. I have the same specs you have, but I think the 1.29 have the battery fix, but don't quote me. I had the "with out google" backplate on my first phone, but that fubar'ed on me.
"With Google" has been confirmed to be strictly cosmetic. The battery issues are caused by a bug in the Sprint Hero's messaging app; current workaround is to use Handcent or ChompSMS instead and turn off notifications for the built-in Messaging app.
I have something different. No with google. No Voice control thing on google search..
Build Number is: 1.22.651.1 146733 CL62456
Software Version: 1.22.651.1
I had this phone before release... and of course Sprint has no idea how to update.

If you are interested in updating to the 1.29.651.1 there is a Sprint HTC Hero RUU that can be downloaded here RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_1.29.651.1_signed_release.exe
I have found several bugs in Kies but can't find any contact information as to where to send my reports. Anyone who knows?
Latest bug found:
When syncing Outlook contacts to the phone, the First Name and Surname swap places, so all contacts on the phone end up backwards. Google show that I'm not alone with this problem.
This issue is new to me. I know for a fact that I got a correct sync the first time I used it (approx 2 months ago), 'cause I remember that I've scrolled down to the letter 'E' to find "Emma Foobar" (where Emma is a first name).
I have upgraded the phone from Eclair 2.1-update1 to the latest Froyo 2.2, and Kies has been updated two or three times during this period. So either one, or a combination of both, must have introduced this bug.
It's Samsung, so /dev/null seems appropriate...

I sent a comment to the Swedish Samsung organization (via a web form).
I have no Idea if that did it, but yesterday, a new version of Kies was released and now contacts are synchronized correctly.
Only a minor bug is left:
The alphabet list to the right is still based on Sirnames even though the settings state that the display should order using First name. So even though I have contacts like "Emma Smith", I have a dash instead of an 'E' in the list.
Hi all,
I've updated my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Wi-Fi) to a new version (the one with a custom Sumsung skin) and now the Calendar app (which I use quite heavily) is partially broken: setting a different "First day of week" does nothing in week view (the month few does appears to display correctly). It's quite a problem as in my region, Sunday is not only the first day of week formally - but also an actual first working day, and the half-sized space at the end of the calendar doesn't really help, even leaving along the fact that it does have to respect the setting and display it before Monday. If anyone curious - I've attached the screenshots to demonstrate the problem - one from week view and one from month view, both with Sunday set as the first day of week. I tried to report a bug to Sumsung but couldn't find any way to do so - Samsung Galaxy Tab support page appears lack any kind of feedback besides writing a review. Does anybody know a way to get a bug report report to them?
Anyway, the real problem is that I'm unable to replace the app with the previous one. I though it should be easy - found an stock Honeycomb Celendar.apk, but when I try to install it, after it asks for permissions and I click "Install" it just says "Application not installed" without any additional info. So how do I get the damn thing replaced with a working copy? Or maybe there is another way to fix the problem I have?
According to Engadget and a few other sources there is an update available for the note:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/22/refresh-roundup/
Samsung Galaxy Note: A small update, it adds new features and enhancements to the Note, such as a number row on its stock Android keyboard, "one hand operation" mode which shrinks the keyboard and dialpad for better one-handed access, optimized screen brightness and a new torch widget on the home screen.
But when I try to update the phone it says no update available. It was not bought through a network so should be unlocked and I am based in the UK. Any suggestions on how to get the update?
Thats the last LA4 Update release from Samsung, but its not released worldwide, you can download it from the below link and update via Odin.

"This Update in not directly Rootable"
No updates for mine as yet
Hi
Along with quite a few other Note owners in the UK, mine is still stick on 2.3.5, XXKJ4. I got mine from Hantec back in November. It was an EU version (Poland perhaps?).
I'll give it a few more weeks before I root it and side-step the official update sequence. 2.3.6 us supposed to fix the Android OS battery drain issue.

Hmmmm maybe I will just wait for ICS, the improvements to one handed operation would be really handy though (sorry for the bad pun!).

Hello,
I recently installed OmniROM, but I missed the assistive cursor/pointer that is shown on the screen, so I can see where the "logical" pen tip actually touches.
So I'm back to the stock JB 4.1.2 ZTO - Brazil for a second round. I disabled most -- if not all -- bloatware and replaced TouchWiz launch screen with Google Now. I also installed Greenify, SetCPU and Xposed to trigger some actions or prevent Facebook from loading on startup.
Now, my only problem is the way the stock 4.1.2 handles 3G/HSDPA requests. On Facebook and in the built-in browser (which is basically an outdated version of AOSP browser) I constantly get timeouts, and the 3G becomes almost unusable -- except in near perfect conditions.
My question, in short is: how can I get the AOSP radio management flashed into my JB stock ROM? Is it possible? Are there workarounds?
Thanks in advance!
