I am considering upgrading in the near future and was wondering if anyone uses either DI RADIO or SIRIUS XM mobile apps and if they did, if they noticed a difference on connectivity and overall stability with 3G vs 4G?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I'm currently still running on the WWE original rom, as yet haven't seen any need to upgrade. I'd like the GPS functionality, but don't NEED it just yet...so I can wait.
However have just moved house and my network signal is now marginal at best, has anyone seen any improvements in GSM radio signal with any of the newer roms ?
cheers
anyone have any views?
Hi,
I've been reading all the post and wondering with the fix can the phone be used in the US(New York City)? I'm with T-Mobile, which doesn't have 3G. I'm looking for an alternative to the iphone. Any feed back for be a great help!
Thanks all!

the phone would work fine on tmobile... only ATT customers would have issues seeing as the phone doesnt have the 850 band.
I am on ATT and just spent a week in Manhatten using my Diamond everywhere I went. I always had two to four bars, never fewer. The phone even worked in some elevators, which surprised me. There is no 3G available, but I usually had Edge available while in Manhatten. and of couse there is wifi.
You can check coverage of the frequencies used by various carriers here:

With the 05 radio the diamond is us friendly (sans 3g)

what about for data?
Works fine for data, just no 3G as already mentioned. I'm not a heavy data user, mostly just light browsing, weather, etc, and EDGE has been working fine for me.
Just wondering if any of you guys have got a tried and tested favourite radio rom that gives best radio reception.
I've currently got Radio Rom:1.71.09.01 and PDACorner Ultimate V8 and I'm getting both poor battery life (100% to 10% in ~8hours with email checking every 10mins and thats it) and poor signal strength.
So, do any of you guys have a phone on T-Mobile UK and if so, what radio rom do you prefer?
If your in a HSDPA area and you have it enabled, it can really suck the juice out of the Kaiser.
Do you have wifi and bluetooth disabled? What brightness level do you have it on battery and standby time?
I know mskip lives in East Anglia with poor reception and has settled for the 1.70.19.09 Radio.
I wanted to have everything enabled with heavy use so I ended up getting a bigger battery (which makes it about a third bigger, but I think it was worth it).

Hi guys!
I am experiencing something strange with my Diamond.
I verified that the issue appears with different ROM and with different Radios (I've tried .05 and .08 so far).
When I am in Austria:
The reception is excellent, also in comparison to other mobile phones.
The icon close to the taskmanager says:
"3G" when I am idle, or when I call,
"H" when I use HSDPA (when I browse internet),
"E" when I don't have good coverage and switch to EDGE from other operators.
When I am in Italy:
Reception is clearly worse in comparison to other mobile phones.
The icon close to the taskmanager remains always "H" regardless if I am not using the phone, or if I am calling or browsing the internet.
It seems I am always attached to HSDPA.
(anyway I've verified that the data connection is not open.)
Is any of you experiencing the same issue?
Ciao,
Dan
Never been in Austria with my current cell, but I can tell you about Italy, where i presently live in. Besides, I am also a h3g customer.
Well, it is quite well known that diamond doesnt excel in reception overall. However all works as it should. I mean i see the H only when I am downloading/uploading data. If not I get normally 3G or E in roaming TIM.
You make me curious... you pushing me to come to austria to check it out

Sure, I know...
In the same place where I have 2 notches with the Diamond, I have 5 notches with a 2yrs old Samsung (with Tre Italia H3G).
I know that the notches are not so reliable, but so much difference is strange.
This does NOT happen in Austria, where the different cells behave almost equally (with Drei Österreich H3G).
And that H, which remains constantly there, never changing to 3G, E, or something else, makes me thinking....
I've currently Dutty 3.6b, with radio 1.09.25.23 (I've also tried 1.08.25.08 and 1.00.25.05).
ciao,
Dan
Hi, i have senn around some apps are using restriction for 3g only (like skype) and also the tv program for the bell vibrant. I were wondering, is there any way to "emulate" 3g over wifi? (making the phone think it is on 3g when it is actually only on wifi?).
Thank you very much
interesting question
it'll be nice to have some app that could do that
So... anyone ever heard of such thing? Is it even possible?
thanks
This is something I would love to find as well. Any leads are greatly appreciated.
Skype works over WiFi.
I don't really understand what you mean. I use Skype on my Galaxy S and everything works over WiFi.
But if the app only work if you're online via 3G like Navigon Select (T-Mobile 3G network to check if you're really a T-Mobile user) than you can't emulate that because you must have an IP that were given you for 3G.

T-Mobile doesn't need you to have a T-Mobile 3G connection to know that you are a T-Mobile customer, at least not technically. The notion that it might be tied into their user verification system is a discouraging one, and I'll admit entirely possible, though I hadn't considered it.
Anyways, I was looking for 3G emulation for T-Mobile's visual voicemail, not Skype. Thanks for the info.
Would love to have this for Nexus S where Internet Calling(VOIP) requires Wifi into the Original System, but on Cyanogenmod it works over both Wifi+3G but i prefer to stay into Original OS plus having VOIP call over 3G
