[Q] Cyanogenmod 7 voicemail notification issue - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running cyanogenmod 7 on my htc hero. every few minutes a notification comes up saying i have 2 new voicemails, and when i check, there are no voicemails. it also says voicemail pending. i can't get rid of it. i installed sprint visual voicemail and that doesnt work either. how do i fix this?

Voicemail Notification Problem
I finally got up the nerve to try a new ROM on my HTC Hero (CDMA) and installed the latest stable version of CM7 using the Rom Manger app. Everything worked great; however, anytime I reboot or power off/on I recieve a voicemail notification...but there is no voicemail. Is there a way to correct this?
Thanks to all who do this type of work. As a noob, I was very nervous about rooting and updating to a new ROM but this forum helped me overcome my fear.

Is the message from 9016? If so, try blacklisting that number (nearly every sms app but the stock lets you do this) to see if you get voicemail notifications without the sms.

No, the blocking of 9016 doesn't fix it. It just says that there is a voicemail (2 actually) waiting for you and when you call it is nothing. So, it's just kind of lying to you.

[Q] Voicemail issues.

OK so first off I did try searching for a couple days before making this thread, but couldnt find anything.
So since getting my cappy and whatnot, was on an iPhone 3g (which is still under contract i will add), whenever i listen to voicemail or do anything vm related, i get weird text message from 1-000-000-0000 with a message that goes something like :
alpsgaacds01.attwireless.net:5400?f=0&v.....................................................................(jsut keeps going with random stuff.)
Any ideas on how to stop it?
Also I made sure in the voicemail settings, it has my number listed.
Go to your AT&T account and get rid of Visual Voice Mail. That's why you are getting the messages.

Unfourtantly there is no option to remove it in the wireless.att.com pages
I had the exact same problem.
I bought my Captivate from Be$tBuy on launch day and ditched my iPhone 3G, They messed up the transfer and never removed visual voicemail.
To fix it, you have to actually call AT&T to have them change you to a non visual-vm feature.

Not Receiving Text Messags

After I rooted, im not receiving any text messages. But i know i can send messages. I could also make and receive phone calls. Ive tried using a sense rom to update prl and profile which updated but still not receiving text messages. Anyone have any ideas why?

Try sending the text 'Allow all' without the parentheses to 9999

Tried. Didnt seem to have worked. any more suggestions?
If the "allow all" text didn't work, and using a sense rom to update prl/profile doesn't work - I would suggest downloading the RUU and reverting completely back to stock. See if it works then, if it does root with z4 or w/e you like and go back to the rom/nandroid you had before.
if it doesn't work call sprint or bring it in to one of their stores
Also, just wondering; you do have plenty of free space on your phone right? People seem to get really weird problems when their phone is running low on internal storage.
And do you use google voice for voicemail?
And what, if anything, did you do at or around the time it started acting up? (ie installed new apps, flashed new kernel, etc.)

Question1: Yeah i have plenty of space no apps installed.
Question2:Yeah i use google voice. but is not set up right now since i just rooted.
Question3: First noticed no messages being received when i rooted i believe.
Guess illl try to the RUU and see if that works.
Used RUU. Still not being able to receive messages. going to have to contact Sprint.
Try useing a different RUU if your going to doit again, see if that works...just a thought. Later

I have been having problems receiving texts as well ever since I installed a new ROM (this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090234) 2 days ago.
All functions seem to work fine, including outgoing text messages, but incoming do not work at all.
I had been running Cyanogen Mod 6 for about a year without any problems except speed, just wanted to try a newer and possibly faster ROM. I did have issues whenever I would get a "low space" indicator but that doesn't seem to be the case with the current issue.
I am using Google Voice for voicemail.
My service provider is Cellular South, btw, not Sprint.
Ran the RUU but still didnt work. so i updated to newest build and still didnt work. still havent had a chance to call Sprint.

Problem Solved. Since sprint merged with google my settings where changed and were set to receive text messages to google voice and not my phone. If anyone else has this problem just go to your account in google voice settings and make sure that theres a check mark next to receive text to phone. thanks to all for the help =)

That didn't work for me
Of course, I'm not on Sprint, but Cellular South. Still no joy on my end. I actually reverted back to my previous CyanogenMod via Nandroid, which WAS receiving text messages just fine, but now it doesn't work either.
I have the original Cell South 2.1 RUU I could use if necessary, but hoping not to have to do that. Looking like I might have to, though.
Finally got it up and running.
I was about to run the 2.1 RUU but then remembered I made a Nandroid backup of my 2.1 Sense-based config before the first time I rooted so I restored to it and dialed *228 to download the latest updates. The texts then started working, so then I reverted back to my Nandroid backup of my new ROM and it worked like a charm!

Not receiving texts

So I suddenly stopped getting my texts 2 days ago and I have no idea what to do. My google voice is getting the texts and everyone is getting my texts, but my phone isn't getting anything. I was on vanilla rootbox rom and I tried flashing a sense rom to update profile, prl, and tried the ##72786# reset thing and still nothing. Any idea what I can do?

Google voice is probably the problem. I stopped using it last year because their are to many issues. Do you use your Sprint number as your GV number?
Yeah I use it for my voicemail
In Google voice click on more and drop down to Spam. I had 3 contacts "magically" in there somehow. If you have anyone in there you can choose the person and then click Not Spam at the top.
Found the problem. Send texts to phone# was unchecked, so I only got my texts sent to google voice. This damn thing is confusing. Dunno why they gotta send voicemail notifications to both text and email. Unchecked email, but hopefully that gets rid of the extra text notification that comes with the separate voicemail notification.

[Q] Motorola Atrix HD Google Voice Forwarding Issues

Motorola Atrix HD Google Voice Forwarding Issues
Currently I have PACman OS on my Motorola Atrix HD. After re installing Google Voice upon set up of voicemail settings. GV wants me to set up calling, After choosing make all calls a pop up screen with Com.android.phone with two boxes using the same setting comes up. After choosing then GV is set up. Making calls the phone then goes to make a connection and sends the phone into a zombie process, endless loop with a notification saying calling. and does not stop until rebooted.
What do I do ,I use GV to make all calls and text. Ive re installed 3 times and still the same issue.
Any help guys I cannot figure this out

What pac version you have? Newest pac/ nightlies versions have way to many bugs.
Have you tried carbon or other roms like kitkat roms?
Thank you so much for your reply, I feel like an island and cannot figure this out. Pac bersion 4.3Build-1 ,AOKP mb886_jb-mr2, Cyanogenmod 10.2-20131119-unofficial-mb886, Paranoid Android Version 3.99-RC2.
So I have used older versions of GV unpacked from APK files, same issues after dialing the dialer goes into a zombie process. The Wifi via Groove IP Calling and GSM calling via the dialer without GV installed work fine.
Appreciate any help you can provide.

Does anyone have information as to how the dialer works?. Maybe I could fix the way it does the call push?
Problem Solved by switching to CM11
Problem Solved by switching to CM11
After doing as much as I could to save my beloved PAcMan rom I ended up having to re flash. That didint work. Then using an APK of an older google voice app, that didint work.
After a week of not having access to GV I ended up flashing to Cyanogen Mod 11. Problem Solved

not getting any voicemail notifications on my OnePlus 3T

I'm not getting notifications when I receive a voicemail. Everything seems to be set up properly, and I'm able to see and play my voicemail in visual voicemail, but no notification comes through on receiving a voicemail. If I reboot my phone when a voicemail is waiting for me, I do get a voicemail notification when the phone boots back up, but I don't get notifications for any subsequent voicemails (unless I reboot again).
Are others seeing this behavior? And does anyone have any clues what might be causing it?
Hmmm. I also have the same problem, i won't see the voicemail unless i reboot.
Hmm this happened to me once, thought it was a quirk. Not good...
T-Mobile if that matters. First slow LTE, now this. Ugh.
I'm on T-Mobile too. Stinger051, are you also? Maybe this is a T-Mobile specific issue? OnePlus didn't seem to have any clue about it.

There's a similar thread on the OP forums, but I can't recall if it was T-Mobile specific or if it was all kinds of carriers around the planet. If I find it again, I'll post a link. I'm on ATT and as far as I know (it's really tough to know things you don't know ), I'm not having the problem. In fact, I get double-notifications, one is the regular symbol (is it an infinity symbol?) for a message on my VM, and the other is the ATT VVM app symbol.
Now and then I don't get a "so&so called" notification along with it, but I always "seem" to get the VM / VVM symbols. When I listen to VM using the 1 on the keypad (now and then), I never find something I hadn't gotten a notification about so it "might" be carrier specific.
Sure enough, just found another voicemail I had no idea about.
I submitted a bug about this:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/not-getting-voicemail-notifications.478018/
Is anyone else noticing this problem? If so, please add to the bug thread on the OnePlus forum.
How to get voicemail notification
Hi everybody. I figured out a fix. Even though I have spent a lot of time on OnePlus Chat, was told to wipe the phone, and spent a remote session with One Plus they could not figure out the issue. Simply turning off "Visual Voicemail" in the phone app completely fixed the problem (even though the OnePlus people told me to make sure it was on!). In the phone app, go to Settings, then Call settings, then select your SIM card (1 or 2), then Voicemail, then switch Visual Voicemail to off. You will get voicemail alerts normally, but now you will not have visual voicemail. There is a T-mobile Visual Voicemail app that you could try to use instead, though. Hope this helps
