Poll : Which Custom Rom you are running?

Not trying to be funny, but many people here change roms more than they changed their underwear. So the poll will be flawed.

Very true. I was on Doc's a couple days ago, then went to Darky's 9.5, and yesterday changed to Simply Galaxy Sweet Honey

1) Is this post development? I don't think so.
2) Is this post necessary? I don't think so.
3) As previously stated, is this poll accurate? I don't think so.
Why bother?

Yes you are right that people are always on the move.....I know this will be not 100% accurate but at least at this instance of time it can give us an idea (say 80% accuracy) about Market Trend (means popularity of rom) at this time (lets say Mar/Apr 2011) with current available ROMs. It may change in a month or two. But then in next quarter we may run another poll...

This thread should be in General.. that's why you'll not have a good answer here. (It's typically "noobish" to post questions or poll here, unless it's for developping something by yourself or with some dudes..)
And, on my opinion that's useless, all custom rom or more or less the same : A Sammy Rom deodexed and zipaligned, changements are tweaks... it's made me laugh when in themes OP specify it's for Doc's or Darkyy (of course it will works on both, only version/region is important).
For me no matter which rom you're using, it's Android.
If there is just one difference, it's between CM/MIUI AOSP based roms and Sammy'roms.
Same for kernels, it's just more or less functions and geeking/tweaking.

C'mon guys some more votes & we can get some representative picture here....that what our community is actually using....

iv been using Docs rom for about a week or two now xwjs8 with ADW Launcher barely lags when im not using it.Darky's rom's are gr8 but in the last 3 weeks they've got a little hard to flash and full of stuff i don't use and a little buggy a few times messed up my phone couldn't flash froyo had to revert to eclair kitchen roms are good i can flash them with my eyes closed im waiting for a Stable GB from Darky see what's not

[Q] any orphan tabs need a good home with a recognized developer?

I believe it would be extremely advantages to have more developers working the tab. I have the utmost respect for the handful that seem to do the work of double their numbers but someone like Rodderik would not only bring himself to the party but there would undoubtedly be others that follow him.
I am between employment right now otherwise there would be one in the post on its way to him/her but I would be open to a small contribution if this could get momentum. Please only leave productive comments.. if its not something you're interested in seeing happen let the thread die a sinking death!

Ill donate towards a tab, depending on the Dev, but with cm7 almost perfect, and afterbridge doing his thing, is it really needed for another dev, I'd rather one good rom than have 50 crap ones like most the other sections, also this is in the wrong section.

I agree. CM7 is now flashable, Overcome is just fantastic and Honeycomb is soon available to everyone. IMHO, I can't see how the development could benefit from another Tab. Unless Overcome gets ported for CDMA users..

Maybe if the dev ported over a miui rom, but even then most people are going to use cm7

I would definitely donate toward P1010 development. Not a whole tab of course, but something nonetheless.

What's so special about CM7? I know he does work for most phones? Or at least that rom is available for a number of phones. I'm guessing it's good because i've heard people speak so highly of it.
Also would it have any advantage over overcome's rom? And no disrespect to overcome because it's the first custom rom i've ever flashed and is the only reason I kept my tab. Love it.
Guessing i'm just asking if you or someone else could educate me on cm and specifically cm7.

I'm up with this thread, i cannot donate for a Tab but i'll send some beers to Rodd.
All devices get the best from the kernel, with a good one your tab will be always fine, it's not all about a Rom.
Have i t remember when we all got smartass/interactive governors fot our tab?
Now, you can say "i don't use smartass" or" my tab currently has not Ext4 because i don't need it", i say, why wasting your time to come here and say that we don't need another dev?

I'd sell my body to medical science and give the profit to the dev who would port it.
Well, either MIUI or HTC Sense. Those are the only things I miss from my Desire days.
CM7 is completely AOSP. Basically built from scratch for each major release (CM6 - CM7) then they add bacon Tablet tweeks, different lock screens, theme chooser, custom brightness ssettings and loads of other things.
I don't see it as an amazing rom, more like stock, with goodies. I've never understood why people praise it all day. Its great yeah, but I don't see what's amazing about it. But Cyanogen is the Android custom roms/development forefather. He was one of the first to start it and hasn't stopped.

Id donate up to thirty bones for a Sprint CM7 rom. I'd give any spare cash for that.

The Missing Rom, Sense 1, 2,3 are more than just HTC's UI. They are the way we Interact with our Incredible. As i write this There are Dev's and Dev teams making great strides on what they feel will be the greatest ROM. I have spent many years working on car project only to find that I am never happy with it. A good projects are never finished. With all the Sense rom's you get flavors of sense. With the senseless roms you get no Sense. With this rom you get some Sense and Launcher Pro. I have removed everything that doesn't work with Launcher Pro.
This is my first shot at a Rom, I plan to continue learning and devolving.
Sense widgets gone
Battery draining apps gone
Rom zip file is less than 110 MB
Sense clock and calander still there
camera works
If you want apps install them, the market is full.

I don't understand what your doing or why. Normally ROM development takes place on a computer with some knowledge of how things work in these ROMs so we can make them better. And to make them more appealing to the other users of these forums or whoever.
Simply installing Launcher Pro or whatever else does not meen you have created a ROM. You have just installed Launcher Pro to a ROM, that is all.
However, if you would like to get into "real" ROM development there are a many valuable tools and resources in theses very forums to help you get started. Not to mention the devs that roam around here as well that would more than likely be willing to pull you to the side and help you out, provided you just ask them.

It's not just that but if you remove rosie, why not all HTC widgets, etc?
This is literally deleting one APK and pasting another in its place.

A little harsh but funny. Gotta give the guy props for having the balls to post it. I myself made many kitchen built ROMs for personal use and never dared post them. Appears to me that many of the custom ROMSs here are just kitchen builds so what one more?

Actually no. No offense bud but I don't think any of the seasoned devs on here use the kitchen to "build" a ROM. All the devs I work with manually port our ROMs peice by peice. Less error in the long run. The only reason I have ever used the kitchen is to deodex, zipalign and sign. I don't even hardly use it for that anymore. 9 times out of 10 the kitchen is not capable of doing the things that we do to our ROMs.
Never ment to crush dreams or whatever with my first response, I just think if we are going to do something that makes changes to or effects other peoples devices we should take the time and do it right.

Does that mean you didn't flash it? We all start somewhere. I did not mean to insult anyone. But there is a gap in the Rom selections. I like some of the sense apps that you lose when going senseless. I also don't like the button layout of sense. And the battery draining sense widgets. That is what I have done filled a hole

Good to know that your building your own ROMs. Its hard to tell from all thats posted who to trust as a dev and who's just a hack. No offense to the op. CaptainKrtek had a post in the Eris forum last year about what it takes to be a real dev here, wish I could find it again had some good info in it.

I will update my op I was more/less saying that I am new to this kinda thing and don't call myself a developer like a nurse doesn't call themselves Doctor, or a drafter doesn't call themselves an engineer.

If you really want to be a dev then start hanging out in chef central. The advice I had originally said came form captainkrtek actually was from cyanogen. I read it over a year ago when I was playing with dsixda's kitchen and thought of posting my own ROM. I posted a link below as I think its appropriate. Not sure why our dev section here isn't as nice as the Eris forum, they have a lot more info over there and being a former Eris owner I miss it.

Minicm9. It's the smoother ics and the best ics for daily use right now.
Edit : Every rom has its unique features, so if you want to choose test the rom yourself. Minicm9 is suitable for me but not for all. Sorry to devs, i don't mean to disrespect you.

It's really disrespecting the devs. Each dev has his/her own vision for how he/she wants his/her ROM to be like or turn out, it's like their beliefs or ideologies in a form of a ROM. You don't compare other peoples beliefs or ideologies against each others'. You want to know which ROM is best ? Stop wasting time creating useless polls or threads and go try the ROMs yourself. I've said it before, different people = different tastes. Idk why people still ask for others opinions when it comes to ROMs while they may have their own tastes in ROMs. People who do polls and thread like these are like people throwing dirt i our devs faces. The people who answer these threads/polls are no different

I agree. All these ROMs should not be compared on, because each of the ROMs have their own specialty and features. The devs work very hard on these ROMs. Imagine if you are one, what would you think if someone spits and insults at your ROM? Think about it...

But who is going to rent it? (just a 0.50 dollar donation from members would be enough for a year tho) I already own a domain
I think it's not necessary unless someone offers himself up to manage it

This is my way to make domain and server. I'm a Web Developer and PHP programmist, so this is not big trouble

Actually if you think about it, it's kinda cool, we have this low budget device, but we have EVERYTHING, (except samsung ics/jb stock). for example look at how HUMANGEOUS our wiki page is, it's still in the top 10 i assueme. edit LOOOOOOOOOOL

Our budget may be small (Samsung) but our development is GREAT, we really accomplished more on ARIESVE then I would have ever imagined

Actually if you think about it, it's kinda cool, we have this low budget device, but we have EVERYTHING, (except samsung ics/jb stock). for example look at how HUMANGEOUS our wiki page is, it's still in the top 10 i assueme. edit LOOOOOOOOOOL

Why we do not ask again by using that(3nd position) to our moderators to give as the proper dedicated space for our devise, like other devices and finally not to complain that the Q&A (which is tot even sticky) thread it is not in use. our device it is lost to I9000.

If we think that our devs has done a gr8 job, just look at the forum of i9000. They have anything and everything available on xda.
But still, a big salute to our devs for making our device so better!!!!
Still, a seperated forum would be cool.

Also a section in the Galaxy W would be good. The q&a thread would be more useful, since the hardware is almost the same.

In XDA mods have us in ass, IMHO Becouse S Plus is seasson phone and they think that S Plus dosen't have potential. ^^ That's my opinion.

Nah. Actually, nobody's interested in this old stupid 'low-end' phone and the mods think that such a phone couldn't have any development, can it?
