If you mean app development you need java. If you want to be a chef, no

Thanks for your replies... Chef means who develops roms?

Chef's are people who use the kitchen, hence the name 'chef' and yes they use the Rom Kitchen posted by dsixda in the Chef forum. Make sure to read up before getting into deving, I started trying to start around january and still working on getting my first complete ROM up and running lol
Can u please tell me where should I start from? Is there any thread & can you post link for it? Thanks...

Here is the link to the Kitchen
And to a thread started by Cyanogen
Finally to the Chef page
if you already are experienced in programming, coding a own app is pretty easy. Just watch a short video on youtube, read a tutorial and than start programming(learning by doing)
If you are not, well then it is more difficult :-D

I've been with this forum for quite a bit now.
I flashed a lot to try out different roms
But these days I got really bored/tired of flashing. So I was wondering if there is something else that you could do with the captivate?...

I think that's what he is tired of is the same basic rom just themed 47 different ways.
@op, switch to an htc device if variety in roms is what your looking for. Only so much that can be done with the captivate until an aosp build is functional that can be built upon.

Im just curious but how do you become a dev?

Did you know you can take screenshots if you're on any of the stock roms for the Optimus Black.
Just press the [HOME] button and the power [i/o] button together quickly and a quick screen capture will be saved of the present screen you're on.
If you didn't know this already then hitting the thanks button is much appreciated, and if you already knew this then please don't bash on me here.
And if you long press the home key alone it opens the most recent apps that you used.

Thank you for the sarcastic comment. I guess you didn't read the first post properly and that might be because you're too careless. Anyways this is for the brand new OB users.

Hey guys.
Im in desperate need of a website developer.
You need to have a good knowledge in wordpress
Also, if ur a teenage website designer then strongly encourage u to contact me.
If ur interested PM me, i would prefer if this was a free, non paid affair but i may be willing to negotiate.
The website you will be designing will be for TeenDroid, a brand new teenager only news, review and guide site. At the moment we have a team of 20 strong writers ready but all we need is a site.
Thanks
Adam

What would really help is if you describe the project itself. Nobody generally would volunteer to a mystery meat project.
I'm an art student at Gallaudet University that is looking to develops more web designing skill while adding more portfolio pieces so I'm somewhat interested. However, as I'm nearing the end of the semester (about a month left), I can't do anything till after the semester ends so I don't overwhelm myself for the finals.

From what I've seen (I've only played with it very slightly), Wordpress is meant to be quite easy to use and learn, for non-developers. Have you thought about just doing some online tutorials to see if you could do it yourself?

Wordpress is all modular though - you don't need to code anything. There's also alternatives like Joomla and Drupal, again built for non-developers.

Basically, you have a core site template where you set up what pages you have and things like that. You then add plugins (modules) by importing them using an interface.
There's a list of some of the wordpress plugins here...
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/
While you're waiting for someone to come and help, why not have a play yourself.

That's great for building static sites, but 0% use to a non-developer when it comes to a dynamic site where people can edit content.

First of all no sorry please, and no, I was not able to find the solution for the ICV Bug in Bumblebee but as Whyzee Said I installed X5 Settings but the bug is still there 90% of the time, and I generally visit once a day but nothing much going on in the thread so don't post much but whenever I feel like I can contribute something to the forum then I try to post else my joking is misunderstood by some people and then they get serious and all the mess starts, so just trying to avoid all those things....
The Only reason I'm on Bumblebee and not on Sharp Fix 1 is that I love CM and need Call Recording else battery life is good on both...

Isn't that soft modding ?
@OP : I usually act like the other guys who replied earlier to people like you, but today I'm in a good mood so here no videos but a very detailed tutorial on how to build a rom for the X8 and may I warn you and anyone else who reads this, if I receive any PM's regarding ROM building, you will be introduced to my ignore list. XDA is knowledge. I am a user. Instead of bugging a user, dive head first into the vast entity of knowledge here on XDA and you'll be amazed at what you can learn. Aside from that, I'm tired of helping copy cats.

yup soft moding but.. .he can instead of using the files of the rom make his own files. it is just for instruction on how to proceed.. and it is always better to first learn soft modding than to jump into building from sources and scratch..
EET's method is only for FXP kernel (backbone to all kernels but pretty outdated).. so i guess i wont be interesting.. i am myself waiting for method which will work on alfs kernel and nAa kernel
may be he end up a expert dev cant tell....? .. cant call anyone copy cat.. basic of learning is to first know what to learn...
