Yes, how can I check if the GT has a SIM LOCK?
Can buy one cheap, but need another Operator as the user before me.
regards
Put in a sim card from a different carrier and boot the tab. You will find out.
If you enter the first code in the thread linked below (via the phone dialer app), your tab should provide you with some information on wether it's unlocked:

Hi there,
I'm having an International P1000 that came unlockled with the following details.
PDA: P1000JVJM5
PHONE: P1000JXJM2
CSC: P1000OJVJM5
But every time I put in a sim card, it will reboot because it has detected a sim card. Then after starting up again it tells me that there is "No SIM card in device". I've tried it with 6 different sim cards, from different providers and even from a different country. All with the same result.
*#7465625# Tells me that all the locks are OFF.
Does anybody have any idea what could be the problem?
have u inserted the sim card fully and close off the simcard bay?
Or try shutting down completely and insert the sim card then power on?
If you have, sorry I have no Idea what could be wrong (hardware defect maybe?)
You would have to bring it back for warranty.
UNIQUE .. may you take ur tab to the samsung service center , maybe its hardware issue ..
can i ask u rude question based on how long you used the tab ( did u put the simcard correctly ? ? ? pls check .. another thing ,, if u bought the tab now , so u better go and replace it

Hello Everyone,
can someone help me unlock this phone plz? i been reading and reading but without any success.
i have Samsung Galaxy ace S5830d form koodo mobile in canada.
please sum1 help.
thanks for any help in advance
I have the same phone but locked to koodo's parent company (telus). If you are looking to unlock to use another carriers sim card, I found a tool on the play store that does it ( Galaxy Ace Unlock ). Your phone will have to be rooted and Busybox has to be installed for it to work. Keep a pen and paper handy as it may display a few different codes to try, you have 3 chances to try before your phone locks you out ( then you have to call koodo ). You will also need a sim card from another carrier, if you don't have one...borrow one for a few minutes. It worked on my Ace.
THANK U
I WAs able to root it and i unlocked it. thanks

You are very welcome. Glad I was able to help. :good:
I have the SG S4 Active (i537) for AT&T, baseband I537UCUAMF3 and tried every method I could find for unlocking and acces to ServiceMode, but nothing really worked.
After reading several post on xda and other forums about this phone, I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514607 and done the steps described in these posts. I guess (tried with a T-Mobile not active Sim) I was able to unlock the phone; before doing this method I was getting the message "enter network lock key" when inserting the T-mobile SimCard, after that the phone just boot-up normally without asking for the network key again. I said that I "guess" the phone is unlock because I can't be 100% sure because the SIM card is not active (old one). I will try with an active SIM card and update the info.
In any case I am not responsible for any damages that this method could do to your phone, and I'm not affiliated in any way with the developer of the app.
Please read the posts provided about this thread before trying this method.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (I537) AT&T
Baseband: I537UCUAMF3
Android 4.2.2
Note: Before trying the unlock method I inserted a Straight Talk (AT&T compatible Sim card active) and worked like a charm, so if you're using Straight Talk (AT&T compatible Sim) you don't need to unlock the phone.
Update: I tested the unlock with an active T-Mobile SIM and worked perfect
If you can't access Service Mode try using SamIOTA app in playstore, worked for me! (tip: tap on the two options for several times and it will access the app!)

You said you tried entering codes to initiate unlocking (how many codes do you have) if you enter the wrong code too many times your sim will be blocked and you wont be able to use it and will have to get a code from the sim provider to unblock it.

Hi there,
What I meant when I tried to initiate the unlocking sequence, I dialed these numbers and nothing works. The phone doesn't respond to any of it. I pressed the dial icon but it just says "Not registered to network". For some reason when I insert a different SIM Card and restart the phone. It comes up to a screen saying "Network Lock" and that's it. It doesn't even allow you to enter unlock codes. All you can press is "Dismiss" Like what I showed in the picture. I don't know how to enter the unlock codes anymore since the phone will not respond to any of these service menu codes but it does respond to *#197328640#.
Method #1 Insert a Non accepted SIM card in your phone and power on. Once finished loading your phone will ask you to enter a code, enter the Unlock Code
Note: Non Accepted Simcard is any simcard not from the original provider
OR
Method #2 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
OR
Method #3 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #0111*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
OR
Method #4 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press #7465625*638*# Once prompted for code, enter the 8 digit Unlock Code.
I tried these service codes as well and no luck
*#7465625# = Check the locks.
*7465625*638*Code# = Enables Network lock.
#7465625*638*Code# = Disables Network lock.
*7465625*782*Code# = Enables Subset lock.
#7465625*782*Code# = Disables Subset lock.
*7465625*77*Code# = Enables SP lock.
#7465625*77*Code# = Disables SP lock.
*7465625*27*Code# = Enables CP lock.
#7465625*27*Code# = Disables CP lock.
*7465625*746*Code# = Enables SIM lock.
#7465625*746*Code# = Disables SIM lock.

Yes, I tried both. I have the original Telcel SIM card and other SIM cards. The phone just doesn't respond to any of the service codes to initiate unlocking. Only message I got was "Network LOCK" and a picture of a padlock and a button that says "DISMISS"

I am not entirely sure, but it is probably the same case as my Galaxy Ace a few years ago. Unfortunately, Telcel adds an additional lock layer that is embedded in the ROM, so any effort does no good. What I did to unlock it, was download another firmware from Sammobile that was compatible from another carrier. You may choose that path, or flashing a custom ROM. Obviously, this implies you must have root permissions enabled on your mobile device.
more telcel galaxy s3 minis
I have the exact same problem with the Galaxy S3 mini from Telcel. Even at professional unlocking businesses this was a problem.
Their is just no option to enter unlock codes, neither does it respond to "Method 1-4 unlock codes"
After entering *#197328640# in the keypad the options are
[1] Debug Screen
[2] Version information
[3] common
After selecting [1] debug screen, there are 8 options
[1] BASIC INFORMATION
[2] MM INFORMATION
[3] RR INFORMATION
[4] NEIGHBOR CELL
[5] GPRS INFORMATION
[6] SIM INFORMATION
[7] HANDOVER
[8] PHONE CONTROL
Phone control has 7 options
[1] DRX CONTROL
[2] FAKE SERIAL CONTROL
[3] NAS CONTROL
[4] UE STATE CONTROL
[5] SIMULATION
[6] NETWORK LOCK
[7] NETWORK CONTROL
and network lock says Not Active.
I bought a cheap $20 phone make and receive calls but if their is away to unlock this thing that would be greatly appreciated.
I would rather avoid installing customs ROMS however i can root and unroot with VROOT. So if there is some .apk that needs to be modified or something that would be a better option. If anyone can help with this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

I also got this info at a code unlocking site.
*Note regarding Samsung Android phones:
If your phone is locked to Telcel or Claro Mexico or Claro
Worldwide, before placing your order please try inserting
a non-accepted sim card into your phone and ensure you
receive a prompt to enter the unlock code.
If you do not, you may need to either root your phone or
change to the latest North American firmware prior to
placing an order as you will not be able to enter an
unlock code until the firmware is updated.
The phone originally came with jellybean 4.1 but was updated to 4.1.2. Dont know if that has anything to do with it
Hi, I have a newbie question for you:
I have an unlocked Telcel (Mexican network) galaxy ace; on the 'About Phone' screen it says 5830M. I also have a Telstra (Australian network) version, a 5830T. Is there anyway to 'un-telcel' or 'un-telstra' these galaxy aces? Perhaps by flashing a stock ROM?
I'm asking because I'm having a problem with the Telcel ace. I've tried a couple of Australian SIM cards (vodafone and Telstra) and even though I can make calls etc., for some reason the phone can't access the contacts on the SIM card. Is this because it's a Mexican phone, or is there just something wrong with this particular unit?

I'm not sure about a way to 'un-telcel' or 'un-telstra' your Galaxy Ace. But I might have a solution to your SIM contacts not being accessible. The entire contact is in your SIM card but for them to be displayed into your phone, you just have to import them. Go to Contacts>Contact Settings>Import from SIM card. That's it. It will import all the SIM contacts to your phone. You will be now able to see all your contacts. Hope I Helped
Thanks, but when I click 'Import/Export' I see a blank page. And it shouldn't be necessary. I didn't have to import anything with other phones.

I don't know why clicking Import/Export takes you to a blank page. Usually there should be an option "Import from SIM Card" which could be used to solve this situation. You can also use Google Contacts to sync you contacts to your phone. Sadly Ace can't see SIM contacts directly. You could also try re-flashing the stock rom. Maybe it will solve the branding problem. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

S5830M is a variant of the S5830i. So flash a Rom from the other section.

I meant that after I select 'Import from SIM card' and then choose to save contact to phone or my google account, I get a search field above a screen that's blank except an icon and the words, 'no contacts.'
I've used several Aces, and this wasn't an issue with any other unit. No importing was necessary. So yes, the ACE does indeed 'see SIM contacts directly.'

Sadly I never got Ace to see my SIM contacts directly. But I always use Google Contact sync which solves my problem. You can try flashing an S5830i rom as user envy suggested
