I want to know is there anyway to tell if the phone has been previously rooted? Also some suggestions on buying a used smartphone? Does anyone know of an app that will test the hardware? Thanks, I have a hard time letting go of my money.lol

Helllo,
I'm going to buy an SGS in Barcelona next week through my parents going there and I was wondering how critical is the 3b combo for rooting for adding hebrew to the phone, applying a lag fix and maybe updating to froyo when it comes, is it that dangerous being without the 3 button combo ?
Btw if anyone knows of a good place to purchase it I'd like to hear.
Thanks, Vadim.
3 button definitely
else how do you expect to fix the phone if you can't access the stores?
then I'll need to go for the desire instead,
thanks
I just flash i897 from i9000 rom to Cognitionv2.3b6.

Doesn't it really work with the JIG?
If it doesn't work, I would not try.
If I just give the phone back to the ATT to fix it or change another one, how much should I pay?
thanks.
I know I am not good at the english.
But I got the same problem like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848743
I found if I buy a new one on the amazon, it will cost me 80$. So if I need money to fix it I would buy a new one.
This is my first year in USA, so please give me some help.
Thanks.
Hi everyone. I'm thinking about buying a used SGS and I want to know should I check on the device before I buy it? Is there an app or codes that does some sort of testing on the phone?

What do you mean with "test"? Just see if the screen has no scratches, cracks or anything else. Also check the body if its not scratched or broken. And,check if it goes "smooth"
play some music to test the speaker, check the screen for dead pixels, make a few test calls and try connecting to the internet. Also, check the imei to find out if it's a stolen phone. You don't want to be caught using stolen goods. You might be able to prove your innocence, but you won't get your money back.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
I mean to test it's functions like GPS,Sensors,Music, etc. I know that *#*#0*#*# can do that but i ask if is there any application that might help me to test it without LCD Screen Test(*#*#0*#*#). Thanks!
Hey guys! About a week ago, I bought a Samsung Galaxy s III 19305 from an e-bay seller. Everything goes fine so far. Despite I hate the Korean applications which I cannot delete, I can live with just disabling them. However, I wonder if anyone knows a way to remove the Korean dial pad. I search a lot in the forum, but I couldn't find anything about this issue. Is there any way for that? Is a root necessary? And If it is, what I have to do next? Thanks in advance
You have to flash some rom.
I'm trying to basically revive a friend's tablet. The problem is I've tried so many different things that I'm getting frustrated. Any recommendations on how to get it back to the way it was out of the box or close to it. It is a U.S. model. Thanks for any help you can provide.
