Overclocking to insane amounts. - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was informed that the phone could be overclocked to 800 instead of just 768 with a new kernel. Well i found an uncapped that reaches 844mhz. I am wondering has anyone tried this, and if so did it work? Another question I have is, since this kernel is high powered, if i flashed it but only overclocked to a reg speed like 710 would this run better than sobe .35 kernel oc'd at 710?

Yes, it will work. No, it isn't worth the extra battery drain for the marginal, if any, performance gains.
My Hero couldn't run 844 without some issues, I could run 829 with no problems.

Hey Riz do you have a link to that kernel? Thanks

Yup definitely not worth it. I could run 806 with no problem expect the battery kept depleting asap.

If I have a 3500mah extended battery, would it be worth the performance gains? Because i still have my cover and battery from the 1530mah that came with the phone, so i figured since the 3500 takes a while to charge, i could use it untill it is at like 15% then while it charges, pop in the 1530 battery and underclock to about 633 until the 3500 is charged

That battery won't last long, due to the overheating that overclocking that high will cause. My phone will run over 800, but I saw no improvement in performance, frankly I thought it was at it's performance peak at 710.

633 is still considered overclocking on this phone. It was built to run at 518.

!!!Max mAh for stocked battery size!!!

Hello all as everyone know the stock HD2 battery has a horrible life. As I have been looking for a replacement and seen alot of threads here trying to find a nice battery so I came to ask few things I want to be clear about so post away if you can help.
1) I want normal size battery that is not extended battery as it fits in the original cover for TMoUS HD2.
2) I want the highest possible mAh that fits in the original case, which is what 1500-1600 mAh? if anyone know any other let me know.
3) I seen alot name these 3 companies Andidas, Galilios, Mugen. So name them which is better.
Keep in mind that to me money is not an option as I am welling to spend whatever long as it meets my requirement as I want quality and durability also don't want it to blow up as safety is also a concern, thanks looking for good product review and advice.
Anyone? any take on this? thanks.
i m interest with this too
Well I took HD2 of charge at 8AM when I was getting ready for work and now its 3:46PM and I am at 63% battery power. So I need a real solution as I use my phone for work, hope someone who tested other battery can respond as I need it urgent.

Have you been using the phone? If so, this is not bad! You only lost 37% battery for almost a whole day of work!
And you will not find a battery that fits like the original one, and has more capacity.
Just buy a second one, charge it, and take it along...
Thanks for your reply man but are you sure? As I seen in this very forum battery that is 1300 mAh and I'm not talking about bulky extended battery packs. Also carrying around two battery and changing it is not an option. Also that's like only 6-7hours and already that low ATM I have to keep my charger with me at work fearing that ill lose battery power as it happend once. I can Google some results but ill take feedbacks from user here any day as they tested it and used it thus they can compare it and it would have a fare product review.

dude if you can get your phone to mid after noon with more than 60% charge, you really shouldn't be complaining lol....
Its 8:30PM EST here and i am at 34% as device has uptime of 47hours and connected to 3g tmobile network for 36hours. I need 1500-1700 mAh but i seen 1300 on this forum as they say its same size.
The best battery you can get is a momax 1100 mah yes the mah is less than stock. But the reports are very good and it should go longer then the stock. It will give you about 20% extra. There are no good 1500 mah or more batteries. For example HyperNode would get with that momax battery instead of 34% 49 or 52 something like that.

The higher the mAh number, the longer a battery will last.
If your phone needs 1000 milliamps(1.0Ah) to work, a 1000mAh battery will last 1 hour continued use, if the phone needs 500mAh it will last for 2 hours and so on.
So going from standard 1230mAh to 1500mAh will not give that much more battery life.
Easier to carry a charged spare standard size battery if going to be away from charger for a long time.
I've also taken a different 'strategy' Charge all time (in car with Navi and BT anyhow) and use cheap secondary batteries (as with this charging strategy they wont last too long)
Apart form the Ah of a battery, it makes a huge difference in how the battery is engineered. It is indeed possible that a lower Ah battery provides more rela life power....

Jan thanks for that useful reply as ill look in to the product. But is there any battery that you know from same company with higher mAh? From what you said this is better than stock one and lower mAh yet better performance due to higher quality.
So ATM two candidates for possible same stock size battery.
1) Momax 1100 mAh
2) Mugen 1300 mAh
I hope people who used any or both can compare it with stock battery and post the finding here so others like me can make easy decision and order it.

HD2 Lithium Polymer Battery On Ebay!

Well guys, this would be a first:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Htc-HD-2-batter...311?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb4d8f5af
But hold on though. It almost looks like a plain old re wrapped Li-Ion battery. The guys feedback makes me skeptical, too. Looks like he's new to Ebay.
Thoughts?
I believe its the same old crap. They say its 1600mA. But in reality even worse than standard 1200 mA. Price talks for itself.

You know I see alot of talk about these 1600mah batteries from Japan and alot of speculation, but I have never seen anyone do any real world testing. I was planning on buying one of the 1600mah batteries and doing a setcpu stress test on it as well as the stock battery and record the results of how long it took each to fully discharge.

Do it! If you become the guinea pig and the battery is indeed better, then you would be a hero in these parts lol.
The last battery I bought was a 'genuine' htc 1200mah from an amazon seller, turned out to be a fake that was obviously not htc.
Be careful with testing unknown batteries from unreliable sources, the fake one I had got very hot and was a poor fit into the phone. These phones are very temperature sensative and you would not want a lithium fire inside your HD2!
So is anyone willing to do some battery tests? I would be so happy if I could use a 1600 mAh battery and not need one of those huge, bulky battery covers.

You should be very careful if you try a battery from an unknown or not certificated source. I read about many cases, where people bought some cheap batteries which turned into a little bomb, because of some reason. and i don't know if i want to end up in a roll chair for my whole life just because of a 20€ cheaper battery. A battery can damage your phone not only by heat. Such batteries have also some extra hard- AND software for controlling purposes integrated and if there's a problem, it could cause other problems in your phone.
The normal 1230mAh battery is not very bad, one day for such a huge display and some other features is enough. and if i have to go to the jungle and can't charge my phone i will buy the bigger battery and won't mind about the thickness of my phone ^^
Just my thinkings

I actually can confirm, I can go with my phone with minimal to moderate use for several days. But when I am at work and playing with it nonstop - 4 hours maximum. That is why I got myself a GTMax battery

I would also agree with this statement. None-the-less, I ordered one of the 1600mah batteries yesterday. We're gonna have to wait a few weeks for it to clear customs however before I can do any testing.
Not the first...
I have the andida 1600 Ma and it is labeled as Lithium Polymer.
I bought a 1600 mAh labeled battery from eBay which came with very good packaging and even a tin case. The labels on the sticker make it seem fancy and trustworthy. However, in my experience comparing that battery with the stock HTC 1230 mAh battery, there is no increase in uptime. On Aondroid both batteries read 1230 mAh. Even though the 1600 mAh battery claims to have that capacity it really does not. I even weighed both batteries on a scale. The 1600 mAh Li-on battery weighs less than the HTC original battery.

It's not possible that a stronger battery is as big as the stock one. most of these people only put another label on a stock battery (or rebuild battery with the same power) and sell it for a higher price. I'm sure you won't get a Li-Ion battery with the same size as the stock one but stronger. With a Li-Po battery it's makeable but not easy and they'll have a higher price because of that.

The price makes me suspicious as well. I don't notice a lot of difference in device up time with my Andida battery, but it is still new and it may increase as I get past those initial cycles.
... if I don't reflash more NRG ROMs! They give strange readings for the first few battery cycles after a flash. I just flashed one yesterday, so it will be a while before it settles down.
The Chinese knockoff battery got here today. We're about to find out if it can hold It's own once I put it through the first few charge cycles.
It's sad that I'm able to get an 1800 mAh battery for my G2 that isn't appreciably bigger than the stock 1300 mAh, but there's nothing equivalent for my HD2.
Can't you return it. There should be eBay's buyer protectiontion just say buyer gave you the wrong item

how much big mAh capacity the mini can get?

1500 mAh is the most?
just like to know if there is a factory defaults on this. thanks
As far as i know the real highest capacity battery is Mugen battery for GT-S5570, it has 1400mAh. The stock one has 1200mAh.
Personally, i don't believe in those high-rated fake batteries on eBay, they usually don't have the capacity that is claimed. Maybe there is a better one, but I doubt you need any more than 1400mAh, Galaxy Mini/Pop has small screen and only a 600MHz processor.
good to know
thanks for a detailed answer. i need a bigger one. 1200 not getting me anyway.
Maybe you could save juice by using toggles for WiFi, Data (3G), GPS and display brightnes if you dont. If you're on stock rom you can use power control or widgetsoid widgets, and if youre on Cyanogenmod you can change that in the settings. That gets me by, my battery lasts 2 days sometimes .
Definately give it a try rather than buying a replacement battery!
Might be useful.
I do agree that 1200Mah is no enough for our phone, But we're talking about a low-end phone here which is supposedly not used for a lot of browsing/gaming..etc.
You can save battery by lowering the brightness and turning sync off , it helps a lot.
underclocking will also help if you're not a fan of fluid scrolling and animations.
I pulled out 4 hours of displau runtime on stock CPU frequency. If you actively use your phone for more than 3-4 hours, get a 5Volt voltage regulator and a car battery

Under Volt Moto X?

What's the lowest has anyone been able to under volt the Moto X? I just tried -75 mV set globally and I haven't had any bad experiences so far.
My question is why? Not many reports of overheating on the X and that's all undervolting is good for?
You won't notice any battery life increase. That's a nasty myth.
I'm at -125mv for 384 and -100mv for 486. Then 50 or 75 for the remainder. Have noticed absolutely no battery life difference. I'd be careful with -75 with overclocked frequencies if you're using faux ultimate kernel. I can't do more than-25mv at 1.944.

your statement is a myth. it doesn't improve dramatically but nonetheless it helps. when I undervolt I am more looking for my CPU to stay cooler these add longevity and not letting the battery heat up as much. out of all my undervolted phones, there was a noticeable improvement on my galaxy nexus with battery life and heat. my note3 isn't dramatic, but I do notice my phone rarely gets above warm now. and depending on the bin of your chip, your undervolt can have more desirable effects if you have a great bin. my moto x had a 3 out 4 bin but I never flashed a custom kernel. my HTC one m8 has a bin of 9 out of 16. decent. but the guys who 13 and 15 bins should get great undervolt. undervolting is worth it. adds longevity to the battery itself the less it heats up.

Pretty sure I mentioned it keeps heat down.
And I could have posted a huge long reply the first time....but "generally", undervolting to improve battery life is barking up the wrong tree. YES it should have minor improvement....but not anywhere near what some people hope when they do it.
At best you may gain a couple total hours and maybe 20, 30 minutes screen time.....if you tweak other kernel settings as well??? Hopefully we can agree on that. And to me, the possible instability from guys pushing the limits is not at all worth those small battery savings.
As far as longevity of the battery.....all I know is my oldest device is 3 years old...and battery life is as good as it was when I got it. But sure, it might help.
Heavy gamers or anyone with heat issues....yes....undervolting will help.
Guys with "bad" battery life.....you will at best go from "bad" to "still pretty bad".

[Q] Turn off adaptive charging

Is there a way to turn off adaptive charging like in the Note 4? If there is, is there any significant benefit to turning it off? I heard that adaptive charging increases the battery temperature, decreasing long-term battery life. This is not good for me, especially since the battery is not replaceable.
Thanks in advance.
I read where Samsung would replace your battery if it degrades to <80% capacity within the first year. Then it's $45 for them to do it. That's a fair deal. Haven't seen an option to disable it in the menu that I remember. Personally, I'm not too worried about it.

do a volte check on the battery when fully charged it should be 4.2 volts If its less at max then the battery has degraded. 3.2v is 0 MaH and 4.2v is 2600 MaH so if the Battery is degraded and not getting above 4 volts its degraded by 80%
This info and lots others about your battery can be pulled from a simple battery monitering app.
