This is just a proof-of-concept fix. I dont guarantee any improvement, because i have not much time to test it.
I simply replace battery libs and apps extracted from HKTW.
How to:
1. Download "battfix_cwm.zip" (bellow in Attached Files)
2. Copy it to sdcard or sdcard-ext
3. Reboot into CWM recovery
5. Click "install zip from sdcard"
6. Choose zip from sdcard
7. Pick the "battfix_cwm.zip"
8. Install
9. Reboot

meter jumpin...
had the same problem with HKTW though.....
yeah, HKTW has crazy battery jumping, so I don't know if using their battery portions are going to make any difference
Has someone tried this method? Please report back

I just flashed it and my battery level has evened out. It was a steady climb down even in standby but after this flash, its not as steep and seems like this could improve standby battery time. Il keep checking throughout the day and post back results.

Reboot and tell us if the battery percentage changes.
here is a screen shot of what my results are showing after I flashed this zip. You can see how it isn't dropping as drastically after the flash.

Unfortunately I'm on HKTW and battery is not accurate. It jumps back and forth. We need a real fix for this.

Yeah, what he said. If my battery showed 75% before reboot, it would show 99% after reboot.

i agree the files from the leaked 2.3.4 ota are probably key to a fix. unfortunately i m one of those that installed the ota however the battery life been great.

So yesterday I calibrated my battery and was suprised it actually worked. But today I flashed a new rom (for like the 6th time this week, I think I have a problem) Should I calibrate again?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I /think/ it's only when you flash a rom without a fully charged battery.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Well if you have tons of time I don't see why not. Most of the time, I feel that it is not necessary to calibrate the battery. I only do it when there is a severe battery drain.

+1 to this. Please ensure u flash a ROM after u charge the battery to 100%.
I've been looking but have yet to find directions on how to calibrate a battery. Can some one please tell me the ways to do this?

Charge the phone till 100% while it is turned on, disconnect the cable.
Turn it off and charge it till it's 100%, disconnect cable.
Turn it on and off, charge till it's 100% and disconnect the cable.
Now, delete battery stats using CWM or run the following command using ADB or Terminal Emulator:
Code:
su
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
Sorry but what is cwm?

Any one else having big battery drain since the update?

You don't need to calibrate, just charge it full. Battery stats are automatically wiped when you unplug with a full charge.

It shouldn't affect battery. I've tested it myself, battery life before and after calibration is no different. This calibration myth was debunked by a google framework engineer.
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
ya I read a short thing on that. Kinda odd though. Seems like sometimes u could get a worse battery life some days compared to others. But it also seems like a good idea since u don't have to calibrate every time u do something.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
The calibration has nothing to do with the battery life, it just gives a more "exact" reading of the battery level.. I miscalibrated my battery once, and it was at 1% for about 3 hours, then finally died..

I have now been convinced that there is no reason to calibrate your battery at anytime. Google engineer pretty much put it to rest and since then I have flashed repeatedly and all that changes is the ROM , sometimes battery is bad and other times its great. CM9 is best so far. Until we get new kernals our battery won't ever be great.

Ya reading through the comments it seems batterystats.bin has nothing to do with the displayed battery level, but rather just what is using the battery. The displayed battery level comes from kernel level

Same, although not for 3 hours but 15min heavy load (720p mkv). Which normally kills 10% battery.
After calibrate it never happened again and died right after 1%

Better then before I take it.
I had crappy battery life on stock. Today I put Thrill Seeker on my phone and I have had it unplugged for about 12 hours, it was at 100%, then through loading and restoring apps, text messages, etc, making phone calls... So decent use, it's now at 63%.
So that might be an option for you.

The 3D seems actually quicker to start up. It doesn't have the 3D Game Converter I don't think, but someone on stock might be able to throw that up so you can put it into system/app.

Hey everyone.
I thought it kinda sucked that our phones didn't come with the Extreme Power Saving mode so I did some tinkering around with the smali and here you have it!
I flashed this on the completely stock odexed ROM using TWRP 2.7.0.0 and it worked perfectly.
Enjoy!
PS. I'm not liable if you blow up your phone. Make a nandroid!
Here's a link to google drive, XDA is being weird about uploading it.
Just hit File ---> Download

Lol i updated the OP. Patience young padawan!
Only caveat I've noticed so far is that it takes a little bit for apps that rely on background sync to reengage. For example, if you go into the play store it doesn't see that background sync is on unless I kill the app.

That's just stupid. Oh well. I've never run stock longer than it takes to get a recovery installed anyway. It's just dumb that carriers eliminate main features of a device. I thought that was one of it's bog selling points.
