WOW, i will not be buying LG TV's anytime soon. First LG product I ever owned is this G2x. I get warranty on everything I buy because you never know what can go wrong. Warranty has saved my butt on more than one occasion.
The things that make ya go hmm....
Lol, wow the irony!
Haha wow... go figure..
Maybe that's why gingerbread is taking so long..

I have the top of the line LG Blu-ray player as well from about 2 years ago, the BD-370 and it reboots every time I put Avatar in the damn thing.
that being said I've owned a lot of LG devices and only had problems with the blu-ray player, my G2X has ben pretty damn solid.
If you notice he's using a Cable remote. Probably programmed the remote wrong so it was sending the wrong codes to the TV.
Plus he's using the "All-off" button, which sends on-off codes to multiple devices, which could share the same code with the TV. I have a Harmony One and know the efforts of getting a remote programmed effectively.
I just can't blame the TV. What about if you walked up to the TV and hit the power button? It would probably work. Also, LG's have a MAIN power switch at the bottom right next to the buttons where you could do a manual power down... no need to unplug it.
The guy just seems like a noob and doesn't know what he's doing thus makes me believe he was the problem.
I have a 55" LG and it works fantastic (not saying my fantastic TV speaks for all).

Very interesting observation. But who walks up to the TV to turn it off anymore? That's so 1986.

I have an LG Infinia TV and Blu Ray player and it's the best picture I've seen in any TV set! No problems here!
Just on the G2X!
....
I have an LG TV an love it. Not a single issue and like it better than my brother in laws Sony with the same specs. Now the Vizio I owned for about a week.....that is another story. It did randomly turn itself off, did it about 5 times the first week. When I returned it to Sams Club, the guy said the electronics manager had the same issue with the same model. Looked it up online and seems it was a common issue with bad soldering. I have also heard that TVs sold at Walmart and Sams Club are assembled in Mexico and they use things like plastic screws and little solder to try to make it cheaper, where at other stoers they are the same parts but assembled in Japan or elsewhere. My lesson was to never buy any TV from Walmart or Sams, or a Vizio.
LG TV's are BEAST will admit this youtube vid is prety funny hahaha
Idk all blu-ray players except for the ones with wifi/updates have been having issues playing back the newer kinds. And the G2x is their first attempts in a smartphone market, and I'm loving mine. I have a 50" plasma 240hz refresh rate with a 3,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio.
Isn't bit to offtopic?. Moved to the OT forums.
that would be annoying, esp after paying 2K
oh god, i hope my LG netbook don't start turning off and on by itself
lol very funny!
I fail to find it amusing, but that's just me.

Haaaaaa.
I have been using an iPhone since 2008.. and I do not like it anymore.
Shortly after my vibrate button broke off the side of the phone, I began to realize how little I use what the phone was designed to do. Apps.
I plan to get a Samsung Galaxy s2 or equivalent and go the way of the Droid.
I have never liked Iphones. Don't know why you would go for one when phones like Galaxy S and S2 are there.

When you have to work/fix iCrap (yes they do fail more so then you think) you tend to dread seeing them come in.
They are not serviceable friendly, (and I am talking about ALL iProducts) overpriced, underpowered and marketed to sheeple by a n narcissistic prude.
Case in point, It takes between 40 to 60 min to replace the MB in a iMac if you know what your doing. A PC motherboard can be swapped in under 10 min.
All iProducts mfg after 2008 require specialized tools just to work on them and in some cases only available from Apple.
I had to purchase a special driver just to open up the macbook Air's for $30. They sent me a plastic handle with the special bit worth all of $2 at harbor freight. (if they carried it)
I have asked many of time to be able to takeout some frustration on one and shooting any apple product would be fun but it would not compare to the satisfaction of using tannerite.
Not really hate for the phone, i hate the people that use it. I see it everyday at work when people pull it out. whats the first thing i see even if it has a case? the white apple logo on the back. haha even the way people hold it when talking they don't cover the apple logo...
Haha nice.

Am I the only one getting frustrated by the overwhelming trend of lazy journalism in the tech world right now? Almost all articles on a given subject are a copy of a copy, and no one is making an effort to dig deeper. Is there any tech journalists out there actually challenging themselves right now?
Nexus 7 case in point:
- How many journalists have their hands on a unit right now, and not one of them can bother to answer the question whether it support MHL and they can achieve a HDMI connection?
- Verge posts pictures of a unit with an apparent HDMI output, and make no acknowledgement of it. Leave readers confused and seemingly don't bother to follow up
- Almost zero mention of the Memo 370T in all this. A unit that was announced for the same price, plus microsd, hdmi, and 8mp camera!
- Anyone contacting Asus to ask if the 370T will still be released? Should we hold off on the Nexus 7?
These all seem pretty obvious things to me if I was a tech journalist. Anyone have any contacts at engadget, verge, gizmodo to ask them wtf?
I completely agree. Some sites are saying that there is a micro-HDMI output on the 7. Other sites are saying there’s a mini-HDMI output while most sites are reporting that there is no HDMI output at all. Sites like Engadget are saying you can use an MHL adapter while other sites say it’s not compatible.
I mean, REALLY?? You would think these so-called tech sites would be more interested in this stuff than the common reader/user and would be all over these topics but apparently that’s not the case and it’s making me withhold judgment about buying this tablet or not.
Agreed. You can't tell me that out of all of the (hundreds) of tech journalists who currently have this tablet in their hands that not one of them has an MHL adapter. Two pictures of the MHL adapter working would clarify a ton for everyone. Also, there are rumors that the 16gb might be the model with the Mini-HDMI out but no one seems to be able to see if this is true.
My 2 cents: Why doesn't Google just release a complete spec sheet to the developers and press at I/O 12? It's frustrating that tech companies hold back all of these small details all of the time when we will get this information eventually. Why not just appease the consumers and press by letting us know what to expect and how it works at release?
While I totally agree with the OP, most of what we saw so far have been quick previews. The full reviews are just starting to roll out, from Engadget for example. All the tech journalist and websites rush to get out something to beat the competition.
Hopefully we'll get an concret answer on the HDMI support soon. My assumption and hope is that there is a mini HDMI out on the 16GB. This would give an extra incentive to plop down the 50 bucks more.
I agree, not just for the Nexus 7 but all tech reports are pretty lazy.
The only thing worse than the tech articles are the comments that usually follow them. So many ill-informed people, it's almost laughable.
I'm in no way defending the practice, but they could be embargoed. Also judging from the short manufacturing timelines maybe a real production device doesn't yet exist?
If there are more than a very tiny handful of people actually using HDMI on tablets and phones I haven't seen any hint of it. I hang out with a bunch of gadget nerds with Android phones and tablets and have seen HDMI used exactly once, just to see how it worked.
Whining about horrible tech coverage because they aren't addressing your specific question is asinine. There was a huge flood of information from Google this week (and it's still coming!) and the tech sites are reporting on what Google said and moving on to the next announcement. Deal with it.
If you think that's bad, check out this article:
http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and...s-In-Danger-of-Failure-10-Reasons-Why-573051/
Hands down the worst example of journalism, if you could call it that, i've ever seen. Even the iFans were incredulous.
I write for KitGuru and AMNZ focussing on mobile stuff (links in sig) and I tend to have to agree. There is this one website here in NZ whose mobile content is just as bad as the link alan posted
I've tried getting information out of Asus before but as soon as the Memo was mentioned it went all hush. Am going to ring them up tomorrow to try and find something out about a New Zealand (outside of Play store launch countries) retail Nexus 7 launch so may as well ask about the Memo as well
Yeah, most news outlets (tech or otherwise) just rush stuff out to get the page views.
Now I understand that, but follow up later a little more in depth and especially fix mistakes. Case in point, Engadget reviewed the Excite 7.7 saying it was able to do video out. I bought the Excite 7.7, and it can't. Returned it and ate a restocking fee.
Worst part? I e-mailed them and the review STILL has the incorrect information.

It's called CHURNALISM
I can assure you that there is no HDMI over and MHL. I was at the conference and had a chance to ask Hugo Barra that exact question. It appears as though they left out that functionality to cut costs. He also said the Nexus 7 was meant to be a portable device, not for plugging into a TV.
It definitely felt like they simply want customers to go buy the Nexus Q to get content onto a TV.

Agree with all points, but guessing the 370T may not see the light of day, at least in countries that sell the N7. This is a gimped version, courtesy of Google's desire to corral people into their cloud channels.

99% of the noise is either people with WAY out of kilter expectations for a £160 tablet, or are simply Apple shills.
You also have to consider that on forums like this, you will only ever hear from people with problems. Nobody comes here to say things are running fine.
Every device has manufacturing issues for sure, but considering the high numbers of Nexus7 devices shipped, and the rock-bottom pricing, it's actually rather good. Although try telling gutter press reporters like The Register and Engadget this, they will stir up an old crap if it means website hits. Both sites have destroyed their credibility in recent years over desperate fanboy reporting.

Another 100% perfect tablet here. This is my first tablet and I have to say that it is unbelievable, especially at this price point. I really think that both the hardware and software on this thing gives us a snapshot into the future of these devices.
I already want to integrate jellybean into some sort of home automation system. With Google Now the possibilities are very cool.

No dead/stuck pixels.
No sign of screen lift, though I gather this may not be immediately evident.
Don't notice any ghosting.
Thought headphone socket was broken till I realised you need to push a bit harder than I'm used to on other devices to get them to click in place.
Only small glitch was while undergoing a lot of switching between different wifi options (testing speeds on home wifi, mobile tether blue tooth tether etc) settings force closed and sound stopped working till after reboot.

Why should someone seek out a defect they wouldn't ordinarily notice or care about? Yes, you can be a hypochondriac when it comes to electronics too. Realistically we all have "something wrong" with us at any given time, and the same thing can be said about your electronic device.
Each and every device (not just N7s) out there has some kind of "minor defect" (and by that I mean doesn't work precisely as the owner might expect). The point is, owner who aren't obsessed about having a "perfect" device don't run 20 different diagnostic apps to try to hunt down that "defect".
I'm not saying every person who complains about a defect is a hypochondriac, there are definitively a select few real issues out there just like their always have been and always will be with every electronic device. However, there are many many more people who will just never be pleased, like those who have had multiple RMAs.
I have had mine since the 17th, no problems yet.

Does anyone have or have used one of the Google Tv boxes? I know they have one with Blu-Ray and one without. I really been wanting to get one but am trying to hold out until Sony drops the new NSZ-GP9 Blu-Ray Google Tv (This month I hope) But anyway I'm just trying to get some peoples thoughts on Sony Google Tv before I go out and drop $299 on it, is it worth it?

I bought the Logitech Revue right when it came out and returned it after a couple weeks. Kevin Bacon must have a lot of patience because it was SLOW. I think they dropped it down to $99 if you can still find one. I think that device tanked. My buddy has (one of?) the Sony BD Gtv boxes, but I've never used it. I'll ask him if he still has it and what he thinks about it.
Awesome thank you please do. Like I said there's two out right now one with Blu ray and one without, and then sometime this month they have a new one coming out with Blu ray and that's the 1 I'm looking into getting, but I'm still looking for user experiences with the past 2 Sony ones.

This thread was hard to find again, it got buried quick. I finally spoke with my buddy who has the old Sony BD Gtv.. I asked him if he would recommend it and he said he absolutely would, he's been very happy with it. He said he would buy it again. Hope that helps.
I love my GTV!!!!!
Hey guys!
I purchased the Sony stand-alone/bluray unit a little over one month after it came out. At first yes, the unit was slow and the browser was awful. But now after one major update (honeycombe) and a couple of extra security updates, it is the best unit I've ever had for my TV!
Only downside is not having DVR capability and (if you hitch for it, which I don't...) not being able to view Hulu directly from the browser. The "agent hack" doesn't work anymore, so you have to purchase montly and use Hulu+.....but it interfaces with my Comcast HD box (via HDMI) FAWLESSLY! the sony remote controls everything: TV, cable box and obviously the GTV
I love the search capabilities of the unit giving live TV + web, amazon and netlix results for things you search. Full Playstore access, widgets...I can't say enough fantastic things about it!
Fanboy? maybe a little
Hi,
I just wanted to ask this question. I searched the forum and could not get the answer I was looking for. Maybe it was asked , sorry if this is a repeat question.
The thing is, I want to get the Sony Bluray GTV1. I live outside the USA and I was wondering if, with the help of StrongVPN, use the GTV to the fullest in my country. We don't have the same cable providers as the US, but we do have digital cable. My theory is that if I connect my digital cable settop box to the GTV and use StrongVPN I will be able to get it to work. My biggest doubt is if the Search app will work with live tv content. Does GTV pulls data from the cable settop and parses it to show it on search results? Or does it rely on the location (ZIP code) and cable provided to pull the data from somewhere else?
How would I be able to configure a location during setup if I'm not in the US? I have a good idea where my cable provider pulls its feed, since NBC shows Fort Lauderdale local news i'd say its located there, however, not all channels come from the US, we also have south american channels and such. Will those show up on Search results?
Also, my cable provider gives me a DVR capable settop box, would that also work with GTV's DVR features and Pay-Per-View content?
Please help.
If I cannot get Search to pull results from my listings at my cable provider then its a deal breaker for me. I live in Costa Rica and my provider is CableTica.
Thanks.

Here is a place where you can talk about things that aren't specifically about the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4. The rules of etiquette for the xda forums still apply here. People coming from the Samsung Epic 4G Touch section have seen this before. I asked permission from a moderator first and was allowed to start this thread. Thanks Kenny.
A small example to get you started. It doesn't have to be a tip. It can be something that you wondered about our found out but isn't specifically about our phone. You can talk about other things too as long as it doesn't go against the forum's rules.
I have a Sony MW600 Bluetooth adapter. It's like a USB stick but it's a Bluetooth device you can plug headphones into and the device can basically control the phone. I use it with a stereo patch cable going into my car radio's input jack on the front of it. I use it for music and podcasts while driving. I will sometimes keep the phone locked away and charging while playing music. Sometimes I need the phone when I get out of the car. Everyone knows that if you walk away from something Bluetooth, if you get far enough, it will disconnect. When you go back to the car, it won't automatically reconnect. I had the phone in my pocket when I went back to the car. I don't know what made me not do my normal process of reconnecting the Bluetooth device when I got back to the car. I pushed the play button on the BT device, I previously paused the music with the same device, just to see what would happen. The BT beeped unusually, showed a different graphic on the screen, then paired with the handset and started playing music. Some probably know this already but I stumbled across it purely by accident. Now I don't have to go through the BT menu on the phone and reconnect to the dongle every time I get out if the car and return. I don't know how this would work with other devices. Just thought I'd throw this out there.
Anyone ever notice that when you view a picture with a gallery program like quickpic, that sometimes there will be a split second of a different picture before displaying the one you actually took? With me, it was a picture of the floor before the picture of what I actually captured. If you look in a folder view with thumbnails, the floor picture isn't there.
Good thread. While I have nothing to add about QuickPic, I think this thread will be good for those asking "What ROM are you running" and those kind of questions.
I've also been meaning to start a "Facepalm" thread ala E4GT forum, lol!
Can some one tell me definitively that the S4 can record audio while playing audio at the same time? I may need to start a separate thread for this. I know the iPhone can but can any androids?
As far as bluetooth issues goes... I believe my BT Motorola stereo headset reconnects automatically.

I haven't had the need to, but I haven't ran across an app that could do what you're speaking of. I did research it when trying to record sounds from apps that had some form of drm when playing back local music. There were computer work arounds but nothing on the phone level yet. I was told that the existing android framework couldn't do that.

I don't know if this behavior can be replicated in the stock gallery. Problem is, ever since I found out about quickpic years ago, I stopped using gallery. I forget when it was but when the gallery started having special effects like the tilting of the thumbnails, that was the last straw. I tried removing the gallery a while back but then found out that it is used, in some form, when attaching pictures to texts.
I have a question I have had this device for about a month and the battery cover is scratched all to hell. I have not been rough with it or anything I don't slid it around on the back so I don't understand has anyone else noticed scratches on there battery cover

I was just going to pay something similar. No, my battery cover isn't scratched but has anyone ran across a place, preferably on amazon, that sells samsung OEM battery covers? I'd like to get a couple of black ones. I'd search for it but I'm at work now.
Here is a couple. Black http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CXN0HIW/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?qid=1371167671&sr=8-11&pi=SL75
And white http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CPWN6J8/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1371167614&sr=8-3&pi=SL75
They aren't specifically for the Sprint model but I would think they would be the same.
I have a small crack on my battery cover. It's bizarre. It looks like shattered glass. I'm not sure if I want OEM or custom/metal.

What do you think caused that?

I've heard some metal/aluminum battery covers cause signal drop.

Good tip, seen this a while back but I now use Google keyboard. Auto correction is a must.

I've heard that, too. I'm not sure what caused my cover to crack, either. Mine happened on the lower right of the cover. I tried to take picks of it, but it's too faint, even with zoom. I know it's there & it bothers me enough to want it replaced. I'll probably buy both versions & see what works best.
If you do get a aluminum cover let us know how it works out. I'm curious to hear more on the signal issues.

If it were me, I'd probably just get another stock battery cover off amazon and get a case that has impact protection on the inside. I forget the name of it but I got a candyshell case with the grips on it. Maybe the cover was defective from the factory? They sell stock OEM non branded battery covers on amazon. I am going to eventually get a couple because I know the snaps wear out through time when you swap batteries.
