Best gps in a rom goes to... - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys! I'm looking for some words of wisdom as far as GPS is concerned. How can I maximize performance? What works best for you? I have gone through many a Rom and it all seems rather blase. I'm running cyanogenmod RC and its not bad...but you know.
Best GPS I've had to be honest was stock Ginger from att (Shock! Awe!)

[Q] Darky's or CM7?

I'm currently running Darky's 10.1 final and it's great, but I've heard a lot of people rave about CM7. Is there something that CM7 offers that makes it better than what Darky offers? I'd try it myself, but I'm really happy where my phone is now so I'd prefer other people's opinions first before I invest time into switching over. Thanks!
If your most important feature is long battery life, or if you prefer to set your phone up once and then leave it as is....stick with darky's.
If you love tinkering and updating your phone regularly, want to be involved in a community effort, and prefer performance over battery life..come to cm7.
However, you never know till you try and it is very easy to flash back and forth now.

[Q] Scullcandy Mic not working?!?

So I have recently bought some 50/50 Skullcandy earphones, they are pretty expensive so I want to get the most out of them. Most everything is functional, the only things that don't work are the volume control and the mic. The volume control is made for Apple products so I'm not that concerned about it. However the mic is not working and I was wondering what I could do. Is there a driver I can install or is it my rom?
I am running MikShift v1.1,
bcnice20's 1.51 kernel
pls help
My skullcandy inked headphones have a mic and they work flawlessly with my setup.

I'm going to try my headphones on one of my friends iphones, you are also running miui. I am running a sense rom I think that has to do with it
No I'm not using Tapatalk... I'm using the XDA Premium app, cause I got balls.
I'm on miui right now, but havnt always been. When I was on stock it worked fine. Never tried mikshift though as aosp is soooo much faster and smoother. Give it a try, you'll never go back.

[Q] The best gps

Hi all, i wanted to ask which is the best rom for gps navigation because i will travel and i need the best gps rom could anyone help me ?
For what I know the thing that affects GPS is the baseband, ril & kernel. Not really about the rom itself.
I use temasek rom and kernel. Gps works great, very fast fix!

Sygic 11.2.6. been using it since i got my phone. Great
its important to use mobile data for A-GPS for quick fix.
and i use navigon, its very good navigation software.
i would also suggest you Sygic (3d, new maps, high quality), as well as FasterGps (by Dominik Schürmann, creator of AdAway)
In addition, you can also use GpsFix by Android Labs for a faster gps fix

I use sygic too and am so far pleased. If you have a car charger use it or change the settings for better performance (more battery drain but lot faster). It is the default profil if the phone is charging. I don't use A-gps cause the data over mobile network is still expensive here in Greece!
Thanks everyone for the reply! I just installed Sygic and it's wonderful. Thanks.

[Q] ICS - is it worth the upgrade?

Hi Guys,
I want some feedback regarding ICS update. Is it worth it? I am on Rogers (Canada). Any one experience ghost call/sms? How stable is it?
I would appreciate any feedback?
Thanks
A lot of users are having difficulty with the base band working. There's a thread about it in the optimus forums. My son uses mine to play angry birds. Wifi works well. I think someone mentioned problems with Bluetooth connections. As with most things your mileage may vary.

From my experience MMS sucked, the camera was buggy, and there's a lot of Korean bits left in it. I think GB Prometheus ROM has it beat by a long shot to be honest. If you like working on Android you'll enjoy it cause you will be doing a lot of it.

It charges the phone a lot faster, battery's charge lasts longer than before while not using the phone.
Once you have flashed the baseband with the fastboot procedure (because once you have flashed the ICS rom you lose the GB download mode) and once you have deleted all the Korean T, Nate and SKT bloatware, it runs pretty great...HOWEVER!!!
You ARE NOT going to be able to adjust the brightness while watching 3d videos or movies while using the stock player...
You ARE NOT going to be able to use the 3D Converter as you used to with GB because IT DOES NOT TRANSFORM ANY GAMES TO 3D!!!
The CAMERA PROBLEM!!!
Some games are not running like they should (ocassional slowdowns not present while using GB) even if they are in 2D and you have most of the telephone's ram free.
Everything else appears to be working fine.
So far I've had great results with wifi, sms, and phone on straight talk in USA. Wish I could say for Rodgers. There is a thread here that discusses working basebands for the O3D and the Thrill. you should check it out.

I'm on cm7 with a Holo launcher and m2sd and it's pretty good. I was on evervolv 4.1 for a couple months and it was pretty stable, the biggest issue I had was call answer delay of several seconds. Now that I'm using the phone part of my n1 a lot more I thought I should go back to gb not to mention my girlfriend has an iPhone 4s and thinks iPhones are the best thing ever, and since she doesn't understand custom roms and stuff I don't want her to experience any kind of glitch or freeze when she picks up my phone.
I used a port of oxygen on an old LG optimus one I had and sold and it made that phone seem way quicker than it was.
