Instructions on how to flash lg gt540 with android 2.1

This is a guide on how to flash lg gt540 with android 2.1 open europe edition (there are also uk and orange roms) with integrated fastboot.
Things you'll need:
rom with fastboot:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828003
lg gt540 hacker :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812308
(actually you only need KDZ_FW_UPD program , but the original program is in russian the program inside lg gt540 hacker is translated into english)
if you want quarx 2.1 black edition then
quarx system.img:http://rghost.ru/2898235
Step 1: Preparing pc
Download and install android sdk
install lg driver:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=INEH3FZS
Note if you aren't using the installer you might wanna copy adb.exe , adbwinapi.dll and fastboot.exe to system32 and register them as paths
Step 2 repare the phone
This step is the easiest just go to applications\development settings and turn on debugging mode
Then backup the data on the phone and you're done
Step 3: FLASHING!

Download and extract the rom of your choice from the link above.
Download and extract lg hacker (note lg hacker is not made by me so the credits for it don't go to me)
open start.bat and choose number 6 rom updater.
follow the instructions the program gives you if you don't have mxml sp3 parser
install it .
After the updater starts make sure that windows enabler is runing in the tray
open it if not (it's inside the lg hack folder in rom updater folder)
then click on the tray icon and it should say on click on it again if not.
THIS IS IMPORTANT CHANGE TYPE TO 3GQCT.
ALSO IMPORTANT BEFORE FLASHING DISABLE LGE ANDROID USB MODEM DEVICE IN DEVICE MANAGER
click browse and browse to your rom and select it
wait and hope it works.
click Launch software update .
Wait and hope it works
After flashing is done disconnect and restore your backup
If you want quarx black edition
1. reboot in fastboot (CAMERA+POWER)
2. put adbwinapi.dll , fastboot.exe and system.img in one folder
3. open cmd window in that folder and type : fastboot.exe -w
fastboot.exe erase system
fastboot.exe flash system system.img
fastboot.exe reboot
CONGRATULATIONS
IF YOU FOLLOWED ALL THE STEPS CORRECTLY YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE A PHONE WITH QUARX 2.1 BLACK EDITION CUSTOM ROM ON IT CAPABLE OF
OVERCLOCKING AND UNDERCLOCKING AND OTHER THINGS
if you didn't follow correctly and you bricked your phone don't panic
just repeat step3 and change diag mode in kdz flasher to cs emergency.

I bricked my phone when i was make a mistake downgraiding from 2.1 to 1.6.
Now the phone shows me only download mode (LG GT540).

Just some questions:

For installed apps + usersettings. If u want to reinstall all apps and set them up again, u dont need to backup.
Best apps for this are "titanium backup" or "mybackup".

Likewise, everything went well for me just now, thanks for the guide.

It worked perfectly fine for me too. My phone showed the "Emergency" Screen a couple of times, did some reboots and the whole process took quite a few minutes, but I just left it and now it has 2.1 on it.

oookey can i use this tutorial when my phone is 2.1 and its not custom rom i installed with lg updater so its not modded in any ways besides its rooted

Reflashed stock firmware on LG Marquee

Hello,
I have an LG Marquee (seems to Sprint rebranded version of LG Optimus Black). I wanted to reflash my phone back to stock firmware, and there didn't seem to be a good set of directions out there.
Here's what worked for me on Windows 7 Pro:
Downloaded KDZ firmware from this site:

What state was your phone in? Mine is stuck showing the box with an arrow sticking out of it. I've tried this method with the phone in this state, off, as well as vol +, camera, power to get into "download" mode. None seem to push the fw to the phone.
Any ideas?

A couple of sites suggest trying to boot into recovery mode (volume down+power)
"Hold the Volume Down and Power Button until the soft keys start to flash, then release and you should boot into a recovery mode."

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, no joy so far. Windows 7 Pro too.
Volume down and power show the box with the arrow. Factory reset results in the same thing. The only thing that I think works is camera + volume up and power when connected to usb. It goes into a "Software download" mode. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to push the firmware to it. KDZ stops at 4% with no "spam" in the log.
I'm not familiar with adb, but I tried it anyways. It shows no devices found.

Seems like the R&D tool is the furthest that I've gotten. I place the phone into "Download" mode but the tool stops at 4%. Any ideas?

rename file from P60680.kdz to V20A_00.kdz

Still no luck. Hangs at 4%. FYI, I'm on Sprint.
Should I be in the "download" mode or just off?

As far as I rembember, is it nomal, that it gets stuck at 4%... It keeps on uploading, you just need to wait long enough, but u can find information on that somewhere here in the forum. Maybe just wait for half an hour or so, maybe u even see ur phone rebooting, dont exactly remember...
And download mode is fine i guess

Unfortunately, no matter what combination of buttons/computers/OS's I tried I still couldn't get it to push the firmware to the device. Wound up bringing it into the Sprint store and getting it replaced.
Thanks to everyone who offered up their help. Hopefully once Boost Mobile gets the Marquee there will be more attention on this phone.
Note to anyone who roots, don't uninstall applications via Titanium Backup.

These directions worked great for me. I had to do a factory reset afterwards and all the Sprint apps (that I had removed with TI) came back.

Had to do this twice already for deleting stock apps with TI.
Im done with trying to remove the bloat apps.

I've been trying this method to restore a Marquee stuck in a boot loop. Unfortunately, I can't get the phone to do anything past getting in software download mode. I plug in the phone, it gets recognized as a modem by Windows (a good sign) and then it immediately disconnects and the computer no longer recognizes the phone. Any ideas?

LG Marquee to look like LG Optimus Black
I have a Sprint LG Marquee but I would like for it to have the look and feel of the LG Optimus Black. I know absolutely nothing about ROMS or Rooting or Flashing. I just know that I would really like if my phone had the layout of the LG Optimus Black. Any suggestions on how I could potentially make this possible?

problems flashing back to stock rom from CM7

After flashing CM7 nightly and moving back to stock I can flash stock rom only once
What i mean is when trying 2nd time to flash stock rom from stock rom with R&D tool kit it gets stuck and doesnt finish off
So i can flash to stock say 10c coming from CM7 nightly
butn when im on 10c if i want to flash to 10D or any other version it just doesnt complete process of flashing and stays at previous rom

So as a mater of facts the problem is not after flashing back from CM 7 but from flashing from stock to stock changing the name of the thread it will get a better reply on your issue.
And as an answer to your question... hard to answer I suppose that you did all the steps with clear cache clear data etc.
A better description of the steps you do when you encounter the issue will bring you a better answer.

Cleared cache dalvick reset data done everything
It never used to do this will try and get copy of log when trying to flash 2nd time
Just aswell this is my 2nd phone

Maybe you can flash *.bin,this is full size rom.But when i flash from 10c to 10D ,i has done and could work.You'd better cheak your steps carefully.

Figured it out
now this is weird the software kdz files i had previously downloaded from another sited work , but recently iv been downloading from filesonic and none of their kdz files are working for my phone at all now downloaded and tried them all
anyway thanks people but they all work fine now
didnt realise i had origina downloads on other harddrive
this thread can be closed now

So basically,the the kdz file you flashed with earlier wasn't working,so you downloaded a new kdz file,flashed it with the new one,and it worked? Simple as that?

Keep only "V10E_00.kdz" as firmware name.

[Q] Can't root with carrier

Hi,
I have tried to root my lg optimus 4x hd phone by following all the instructions I found on xda and elsewhere.
My cell phone carrier is Videotron (canada). I have removed the antivirus app and couldn't see any trace of a screen control app.
The problem appears when I try to launch the system backup test app, it get an error message (it won't launch).
Any help appreciated please,

I followed your suggested method, and I get this error message when doing the kdz upgrade: error code 5001
What am I doing wrong? Using the wrong kdz or version file? Is it V10b or V10c for Videotron (Canada).

It worked for me every time.
.kdz file you need by your own as it would be to big.
1 way
Run automatic offline procedur.
In the right bottom there must be now the windows enabler symbol. click on it. now there should be the letters " ON "
UpTestEX_mod2_marwin run this as admin
select emergency instead of DIAG
select your kdz ( the v10h in the zip is just a link to a local one on my external hdd. I forgot to erase it)
press on start upgrade.

start windows enabler and https server with admin rights

[Solved] [Q] (All flash methods fail) Unable to Reflash LG Thrill

I have the ghost call bug on LG Thrill ICS, and I read flashing back to froyo will fix it. That would be great if I could flash back to froyo. I found out I am no longer able to flash my phone with LG Flash Tools (in the LG Update Package), the official up to date LG Mobile Update program, and with the LG Flash tool (which flashes .bin and .fls files).
The symptoms of not working are:
Lg Flash Tools: The updater fails on 5% because of Page_Error ºÎºÐÀÔ´Ï´Ù.
I suspect this doesn't work because I have a custom bootloader from the All-In-One Package that shows the Silver LG Fastboot Logo instead of the standard red logo. I have already tried using the recover update trick used to solve the page error I read in a different post. This leads into the next symptom.
LG Mobile Update: This freezes on 4% and has no log of why it won't work. I can only perform the recover phone mode as the tool now recognizes I have updated the phone (which it only recognized that it is up to date after I flashed the custom bootloader).
LG Flash Tool: This tool as the others used to flash but it now just counts the time and doesn't increase the flash percentage at all. I have tried both the P920 and the P925 dll and they both have the same result.
The flashing methods described above don't make any visible changes to my phone (or any changes at all). I have tried wiping the x-loader and the u-boot via fastboot to find I can't boot into s/w mode without reflashing those back. I have not tried wiping the whole phone because I am tired of bricking my phone over and over and I don't have the files in fastboot ready format to flash back anyway. I couldn't figure out how to back up my whole phone via fastboot (and I can't go around this problem for the baseband because their is no radio partition).
I have Googled and messed with my phone a week and since I am desperate to fix this ghost call bug I decided to not wait any longer before asking for help. Can someone please help me fix my flashing problem so I can go to froyo to fix the ghost call bug. I have froyo in kdz format and in .bin/.fls formats (baseband and .bin). I used both the s/w and the lg software option of starting an update for flashing. I remembered I forgot to tell you I also tried resetting the tools on the computer and followed the instructions to the letter to get rid of any configuration problems that may have occurred.
I will press the thanks button for the first of those who help me solve my dilemma, even if I have to pull the solution from multiple answerers.
Bonus: As an extra bonus, what can I do to write directly to and read directly from the phone's flash chip so when I get my upgrade in March, I can retire my phone to OS development.

Forget LG updater, it is no good. The reason LG Flash tool did not work for you is likely due to incorrect driver install.

And ghost call bug is from having the wrong .fls (baseband) for your area.

The answer to my part of problem is to plug in the phone after clicking the yellow arrow. Now I just need an expert to tell me what baseband is best for the maximum coverage (the most frequencies), works with AT&T 4G, 3G, etc..., works with the LG Thrill 4G (P925) with the official ICS of version v30b. and is made for America. I currently flashed the baseband from http://d-h.st/dxl to see how well it works over the next day to the next few days. It currently displays one bar as it always did and appears to have the same version as what I had before, but I don't know if the baseband version name is hard coded into the stock rom.

The baseband I mentioned flashing in this post is not the one I am looking for because I have the ghost call problems again. I have created a list of basebands not to use for this purpose and (hopefully) later on I will specify which one does work.

The baseband I used came from the thread you linked, but it appears to be the same baseband I originally had. I used the large partition link so I will try others from the thread.

It should work ok with v30B. This is the one I use with his v30C ROM...

What to do?
My phone still has ghost call, but maybe it is because of the dead zone the at&t coverage map shows. I know the ghost call exists because I checked the symptoms and my phone wasn't reliable when I was traveling. I am going to test out froyo now that I can flash again, but if that doesn't work, then it is because of the dead zone.
I won't flash froyo tonight because I will need my phone tomorrow, and according to the coverage map I should have hardly any signal even though I have not tested it with another person's phone yet. I will work on it this weekend.
More Edits:
I just flashed the gingerbread from the LG Optimus 3D, as I could only find this and that is because I already had it (I don't remember why). It had the same issues as ICS about the cell signal even though it is a little bit better, so it is probably the area I live in (however it used to work and my phone is the only phone affected).
I tested the phone this weekend and it now picks up signal very well even though it didn't before. It just isn't as powerful as other phones in the same area so if this is a hardware issue, the question is solved, but if this is a software issue, then anyone who knows why it doesn't pick up signal as well and/or can solve this issue please post why or how this happens or to fix it.
I decided to mark this thread as solved even though I determined this as a software issue, since I decided I no longer care as long as I have sufficient signal. By March I can retire this phone to OS development and see if I can bring some new life to it. I expect to see myself making new threads about the structure of the phone drive and kdz making along at xda as well as learning arm processor assembly (with the x86 bit assembly I am currently learning) on osdev.org around that time of year.
