System Time set wrong - Nook Color General

Not sure if this is a known problem but ...
When setting the clock time, then selecting the correct ime zone, the GMT offsets are incorrect.
For example, when selecting the N.A. Eastern Time Zone, is sets the time for GMT -4 hours. This should be -5 hours!! Similar for many other tme zones.

Flash SMS Light (LED) more than 5 min.

Hello,
i want to use the led light for an incomming sms more than 5 min. In the setting i´m not able to select the remember box (is not enable) i only can see that the time is set to 5 min.
I want that the led flash for 60 min.
Any ideas ?
Daniel
Daniel, I did manage to find it in the registry, to make it flash "no limit" the value was zero, the default value was 5000 (5000 milliseconds=5 seconds) so the value will be 60000 for 1 hour. My phone is doing a ROM update right now, so I will have to post after I search through the registry again. Try usingt PHM Regedit to search for "Flash" and keep clicking "find next" until you find it. I will post the reg key later.
Hello sasha26
i used TC and i only found two entry with FLASH.
The values are not for the flashing signal (one for camera?)
Daniel
I found the entrys
HKCU/ControlPanel/Notification/{A877......} (one entry for each notification)
if found the duration for new SMS / new MMS .... and more. Set the duration from 5 to 60 - restart.
now in the windows setting the value from 60 is in the field.
Daniel
led
but...
when i've an incoming sms the only led lighting is the circular one...
the up led in speaker phone when works?
OKAY this is wierd!
I didnt realize that the Diamond had a LED light!
I have had mine for a week now a didnt discover it was missing!
Can someone post the reg settings for the different values!
AFAIK there is only the circular light around the center button.
I think the "LED" you're referring to is the ambient light sensor next to the speaker?
When I set the duration to 0 - would it light on until I'd read the message?

AH...OK! yes, im referring to this one...
Hello,
i found several entrys in
HKCU/ControlPanel/Notification/
for each entry in the listbox from "Windows - Settings - Sound - Notification".
I have a German Rom so i don´t know if the numbers in the {} the same as in the US / GB Rom.
But it is easy to find, in the entry you also find the text e.g. "New SMS".
I only set the entry in Duration from 5 to 60. In the Windows-Setting now 60Min appears.
Daniel
Is it possible to make the light be active for more then 60 minutes?
How about 120, or unlimited? (untill you have read the SMS)
Are you sure? I think the battery will not be happy eheheh
bye

You could always try. 1440 for instance, that's 24hrs
more than 60 does not display, anyone an idea what happening about this ?
0= unlimited. If you look in settings after setting the reg to 0, it will show unlimited.
thanks for this tip
could not find the actual key to change....
unlimited does not work, the led goes off after 1 min.
anyone an idea ?

I have change to 120 - now i testing - 30min ago and wait
edit:
after 40min flash stoped ?!?
Thanks Matt....what value / line in the registry are you changing
[edit]
Thanks All....
After reading this thread at least six times decided to read again but carefully......
Have seen the light and the keys that needed changing...again many thanks.
Have set to 60
Testing missed call...set to 60.....shows in settings notification
good after 5 min then 30 min ......
will advise if reach 60 min.
has stoped at 50 minutes.....not sure why...
hmm, the right thing to do is to actual unlock this feature like it's meant to be, I wander why they greyed it, possibly they were so paranoid and afraid of battery life so they turned everything they can come for...
so, to sum it up, 0 in settings doesn't work and max available flashing is around 50 min.? For both missed calls and sms's?
EDIT:
Just found it. You have to change AvailableOptions to 12 instead of 11. This will ungray drop down menu just like it should be.

Strangest behavior with Time Zone changing.

Hello to All.
I need to set the timezone to GMT+2 Helsinki.
For some reason the timezone will change back to GMT+2 Pretoria.
Phone: HTC Diamond
ROM: EnergyROM Series "Mercury" 21921
Radio: 1.09.25.23
This will happen as following:
1. Setting home time to Helsinki via START/SETTINGS/CLOCK & ALARMS
2. Opening clock via Manila and Helsinki is listed as my Local time
3. Closing Manila clock and opening right away – Home time is changed to GMT +2 Pretoria and all appointments have been shifted by one hour.
Automating Timezone is not checked.
Then I started to try some other options.
Marked Local time to :
GMT London - everything is ok, no change
GMT Casablanca – changing to GMT London
GMT +1 Paris – changed to GMT +1 W Centre Africa
GMT+2 Jerusalem – changing to GMT+2 Pretoria
GMT+2 Windhoek – changing to GMT+2 Pretoria
GMT+2 Minsk - ---
GMT + 3 Moscow – changing to GMT +3 Riyad
GMT+3 Tbilisi - changing to GMT +3 Riyad
GMT+3 Riyad – no change
GMT+3 Nairobi - changing to GMT + 3 Riyad
GMT+3 Baghdad – opening manila, it shows GMT+3 Riyadh, closing and reopening doesn’t cause any changes.
GMT+9 Seoul - ok
GMT +10 Guam – opening manila – it shows GMT+10 Brisbane
GMT+13 Tonga - everything is ok
Reinstalled ROM (having Energy Rom right now), Reinstalled Radio , no other software is installed.
I posted this problem to Energy rom thread as well. But it might not be rom issue.
So this is just madness… 
thank you for any response.
Try this cab, also go into the clock and set your local city from the weather tab to the top.

Thanks.
at the moment it fixed my calendar and general time. so it wont mess up anymore.
it still changes the default timezone, but now it changes from GMT+2 Helsinki to GMT+3 Riyad. As this is the same timezone as GMT+2 Helsinki in summer time, it'll be ok.

Was having teh same problem with the energy rom. Will this change anything when summer time ends? Will I have to run another cab or will the time change back an hour automaticly?
Thanks
Same problem here, after flashing EnergyROM. Timezone keeps on setting itself to GMT+2 Windhoek. I didn't like the RAM usage of the EnergyROM, so I flashed back to Gen.Y. The frustrating part is that the Timezone issue is now also present in the Gen.Y ROM
I even exported the registry from another Diamond running Gen.Y ROM (without problems) and imported this. But to no avail.
Any suggestions are welcome.
I had the same problem

I installed the latest microsoft CAB file for timezone and DST, and it fixed the problem for me.
you can also download the CAB from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958729

[App Idea] Wallpaper switcher based on time of day.

Just had an idea.. (although this app may already exist)
What about an app that you can set to change your wallpaper to different images based on different times of the day? So for instance you could have something like:
8am - 5pm picture of the sun
5pm - 12am picture of b00bz
12am - 8am picture of the moon
haha. hope you get what i mean... if i wasnt a complete retard at anything with code i'd make one myself..
so, what do you good sirs think?
You can do all of that with Locale.

ha so true. thanks man. never used this app before its fly
Yeah, it's pretty cool.
I have it shutting down all sound and vibration at night so my phone doesn't bug me in my sleep.
theres an app called world tour that does this too. It changes the wallpaper depending on what time of the day it is in the location you chose.
For instance if you chose new york, your background would be of new york city in the morning -> afternoon-> sunset and night time. it's pretty cool!
I want something like this.... but add the weather.... Make the background the time of day and also switch the weather.... Any Ideas?
You'd probably have to build that one.
Or you might be able to build a plugin for Locale that adds weather as an option.

This would be a good application .... if you could find a webcam for your area that fits the guidlines.....

Incorrect world time zones

(OmniROM Lollipop 5.1.1 Nightly)
Stock OmniROM clock app shows a lot of incorrect world time zones. Correct San Francisco time is GMT -7:00 but the clock app says it's GMT -6:00. Same thing happens to London, Miami, Moscow and so on.
It's not a bug related to daylight saving time, because Los Angeles time is correct unlike San Francisco. Maybe it's caused by incorrect 'tzdata', in this case OmniROM contains outdated or incorrect tzdata files which can be found in /system/usr/share/zoneinfo/ or /data/misc/zoneinfo/.
This bug makes clock app unusable. Correct time information is very crucial for clock app. Next OmniROM release must include latest tzdata files.
The problem relates to more than just the clock app.
I have freshly installed OmniROM 4.4.4-20150520-jflte-FINAL on my Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-M919 and then configured the settings and have not installed other apps.
I can confirm that much of the time zone information present to select in the ROM is incorrect.
What carrier are you using? Do you have Settings > Date & time > Automatic time zone selected?
At least with T-Mobile, I have had problems associated with letting the carrier set my time zone.
I have no reason to believe that the ROM has the wrong time-zone information as it works as expected for both OmniROM 4.4.4 and 5.1.1 on several phones, as long as I take control of the time zone from T-Mobile or am on one of my other SIMs.
Edit: In looking at the OmniROM source, /system/usr/share/zoneinfo/tzdata comes from the (unmodified) AOSP sources from bionic/libc/zoneinfo/tzdata and I only see commits in the last couple years that are updates to new "official" versions of tzdata as they are released. Any problem with the tzdata would then impact most ROMs out there. If there was a problem, it wouldn't be isolated to a couple people, ROMs, or devices.

I am not using a carrier nor a SIM. Neither Automatic time zone nor Automatic date & time are set.
I have figured out the problem. It appears that although date and time information may be set manually, accounting for Daylight Saving Time is automatic based on the date and time, but such is not made obvious to the user. OmniROM automatically presents the GMT offset adjusted for Daylight Saving Time; so, for example, if the usually United States of America and Canada Central time were desired, its GMT offset would customarily be presented as GMT - 6, but would instead be presented as GMT - 5 in OmniROM if the currently set date and time is withing the defined period for Daylight Saving Time.
The OmniROM design for manual setting date and time is, in my opinion, of bad practice; if manual date and time configuration is optional, then whether or on an adjustment should be made for Daylight Saving Time should too be optional if such an adjustment is at all to be implemented.
I particularly prefer manually setting the date and time information in the following order: Time Zone, Date, and then Time.

It's not "The OmniROM design" - it's "The AOSP design" - we haven't made any changes to this functionality, and thus it behaves just like a Nexus.
