Ok, I will try to give as much information as possible and be concise. I've got an LG Revolution (rooted) on Verizon's network. I'm not sure of the system version but I know it's not Gingerbread. It's an LG-VS910. My whole dilemma started when I watched a Youtube video of a guy showing how to boot into CWM. I had installed ROM Manager and (supposedly) flashed CWM (I've booted into it before using ROM Manager). I followed his instructions and ignored the warning about the reset hoping to boot into CWM. The phone reset. The SIM still read fine but I had lost all my data. I had already backed up my data with CWM. I re-downloaded ROM Manager and went into CWM to restore my backups. Everything restored except /system! After I did this my phone would not boot. I then just went ahead and tried installing a stock gingerbread ROM I had on my SD card (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348637) to restore the phone. I flashed this ROM, then restored my data backup. The phone booted just fine and I had all my data, except the SIM card would not read. I tried another factory reset with the power button and the down arrow, and it actually booted into CWM rather than resetting like before. This is where I'm stuck. I've read that the /system folder won't restore if you have a different system version installed. Same with the SIM. I've about done all that I can do. My ultimatum is to be running GingerVolt 2.0. I think at this point I need to find my original ROM but I don't know where to look! Someone please help!!! I don't know what to do!! Also, CWM wont even let me flash ROM's anymore. It'll either be error 0 or CWM will restart when I try an install. I'm not even sure of my current system version, If I go to "About Phone" in the menu it will crash.
EDIT: I just reset it again with CWM, now It'll just show LG then cut off when I try to boot it. Great. Does throwing it against a wall as hard as I can help? It's sooooo tempting.
The main reason why your SIM isn't working sounds like, to me, that you have a software mismatch. Example: I'm on version 9, then flash gingervolt; gingervolt iirc is built around v6/7. Therefore, my SIM is guaranteed not to work.
Use, lgnpst to flash the system for the Rom you want to use. You might have to redo your carrier flash too, if you not on Verizon. At least that's how I see solving your prob.

Oh ok so if I actually flash a .tot with LGNPST, rather than just flashing a ROM, will the .tot replace all the software and make the SIM compatible again?
So does a ROM just flash over existing core software, and a .tot actually replace that software? Do I need to flash the same software version that I had before anything went wrong? Sorry I'm relatively a noob.
A tot will replace everything (android, boot, recovery, radio, etc).
A Rom is just ANDROID.
Flashing the tot will put your phone back to 'out of the box' like new, condition. And yes, if you want to use gingervolt, if that was what you were using, flash the tot for the version you had before.

Do a full wipe, possibly Odin flash back to stock?

Hi all, I have looked all over the place, I need help.
Here are my Current "About Device"
Hardware Version: I800.0.3
Model Number: SCH-I800
Firmware: 2.3.5
Baseband Version S:I800.0.3V.E104
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-dsb9938.VZW.GTab.E104.1.1.2
I have looked at the "back to stock" threads, multiple DL links are no longer available.
I had rooted, and Flashed a "Cube" ROM quite some time ago. A while after that I messed something up with the built in "overclocking" type app. Set it to the side and kind of forgot about it. Fast forward to know, I would like to get it working for my son to use, but there are a few issues that keep us from using it. I kept getting all sorts of random force closes, so I was able to get in recovery, and tried to wipe everything. This somewhat worked for a while, but now I am getting a force close from Facebook (which isn't installed, and I have narrowed it down to a contact synching issue) and I keep getting a popup for an OTA system update. I have tried to do the update, but I think the recovery is keeping it from completing.
Long story short, I know this device is a bit older, but where should I start from? I am ok with a fresh, wipe everything start. Not looking for a crazy ROM, but just a everything works ROM. I am ok with GB, ICS, etc, I just want it to be fully functioning. I plan on adding the tablet on my account so I can stop tethering for my son to use it. This has been the only device I have ever needed to ask for help, I am just not so used to the ODIN type stuff.
Thanks in advance.
I tried to do a reset, and wipe from CW recovery. Then restore, it has been stuck on the black with white Samsung screen for about 10 minutes. Don't know what else to do right now.

There's a very new thread that should help you get back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383201
As far as what to put on it, I highly recommend this CM10.1 ROM. It runs very smoothly, but if you want to activate data, I think you have to go back a bit for a working kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043421 The CDMA version is the p1c.
I don't know if you have come across this yet, but unlike any device I had flashed before, the GTab recovery has to be flashed with a corresponding kernel. You can't just flash the recovery to get into recovery.
Hello!
I've successfully rooted my phone, and have signed on with T-Mobile. However, while calling and SMS works fine, MMS and data don't work at all! I've googled around and the consensus seems to be that the Verizon software is the issue.
So, I've downloaded CloudyStock, but am totally ignorant as to how I should proceed. I've looked through the forums over there, but can't find a step by step. Could anyone help me out? I've downloaded FreeGee and QuickBoot if that helps.
If you've got a recovery, do a nandroid to begin with. Then try installing your carriers baseband http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

Yes, look for the thread containing the AutoRec app recovery installation. It will put twrp 2.7.0.0 on. DO NOT UP-GRADE recovery until 2.7.1.1 is out. Twrp 2.7.1.0 has some really nasty bugs. Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496 the easiest way without a computer.

Thank you! I'll download that and see if I can make sense of that other article. It's fairly tech-heavy, I'm a little about it.
Flashing a ROM is easy via recovery. I personally flash any new ROM with an otg usb drive. Once recovery is installed, hit install button then directory/path/to/your/ROM.zip then swipe to flash. Its actually easy, and assuming all your software is correct, should boot right in.

AutoRec installed, the CloudyStock ROM went off seamlessly...but now I keep getting a popup saying "com.android.phone has stopped" in addition to contacts and android.process.acore and they will not go away. Hopefully this =/= bricking the phone? Is there something I can do?

No way is it bricked. For that, you would need cloudys support/thread. I've seen a thread pertaining to that but can't recall the specifics. Your not a bother, but I typically try to stay away from ROMs that have multiple issues mainly because my time is limited for trouble shooting. I found xdabbebs modified stock ROM ideal for a daily driver with Dori's kernel and g2 tweaks the most stable and dependable. I have yet to try cloudys mainly because of the issues of other users. I think your main issue here is having Verizon software on a T-mobel network. Your will probably have to flash t-mob KDZ files in order to correct your problems. I would think a mobile carrier would do this for you when you signed on idk. in the cloudystock OP post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50630975 his link to basebands your are going from a vs980 to a d802 yes? Download appropriate file and install via LG flash tool. Hope this helps, let me know if you get this resolved. Just out of curiosity, in settings/about phone/ software, what does it say about your baseband?

I flashed the VS980 version on, which I assumed was the correct one...should I try the D802 instead? That might be where I went wrong.
Baseband is 24A-M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20046.
I know this is asking a lot, but if anyone is interested/feels like donating their time, I'd be extremely happy to host a Skype call to figure it out: Skype name is grandpa_faust
I think reading between 2 different forums is getting me messed up. What I had heard was that CloudyStock is "THE BEST" ROM for it, I just want simple functionality from my phone on T-Mobile (with wifi calling and wireless charging, hopefully!) Thank you for being supportive so far, it's a lot to take in!

Hi there grandpa_faust. I was in a similar situation as you in terms of wanting to use your Verizon LG G2 with T-Mobile service. I purchased a Verizon LG G2 yesterday. I rooted and installed recovery but kept it stock. I had planned to use the phone with T-Mobile service. After I entered the correct APN settings the phone would not even connect at H+ speeds. I think it was closer to 2G speed, but I knew that it should connect at a higher speed since my Nexus 5 reached LTE speeds with the same SIM card. I installed CloudyStock 2.2 choosing the Verizon variant in the Aroma installer. With the network mode in Global and with the correct APN settings the phone seems to be connected at LTE speeds. I tested the phone while I was out and about today and the areas where I had LTE with my Nexus 5 were connecting at the same speeds with the LG G2.
Your current baseband is the same one that I have right now. I'm not sure where you are at this point. If you are rooted and have recovery then you are almost there if your goal is to install a custom ROM. I'm sure there are others on this awesome forum who will chime in as well in case your problems are more involved.
Regards.

Ok, Emmitt! SO, data settings had defaulted to MetroPCS, now that I changed it to TMobile IPv6 the data works fine! However, the error message from before (android.process.acore, contacts) are still there and I can't use the phone or contacts. Should I just switch to a different ROM? Skype is still open for any takers
The solution:
Settings –> Applications –> Manage Applications –> All (button on the top that lets you see all applications) –> scroll down to “Contacts Storage” –> Click on “Clear Data” Then restart

did you do a full wipe in recovery prior to flashing the zip? Most installer scripts do this but if it's not done (otherwise known as a dirty flash) might be fragmented software causing conflicts.

Factory reset did it! Sometimes I still get a message "SIM detected, switching to global mode" or the network goes out entirely for 2-3min, but overall the phone, data and sms work just fine!
I'm going to try and figure out wifi calling, then I'll be golden. Thank you all so so much for your comments and support, I wish I could throw gold at you! Cheers.

Can you get into recovery? Power vol- button combo? If so just flash correct kernel version n good to go. It will tell you factory hard reset but it won't. That's part of the Loki patch work around. Power 3 times then recovery menu will pop up.

Go into TWRP and wipe everything including internal sd. Then boot into download mode and flash the DOK2 firmware in ODIN. it could be the software related. If that doesn't fix it, then it might be hardware. You may have to take the phone apart and see if it's got a lose wire or a fried MB. Water damage can also cause this behavior.
So I have kept my device stock except for SuperSU and Busybox, no kernel flash, or rom flash yet, my question is, has Samsung fixed the issue with deleting NV data when flashing between roms? What I want to do, is flash TWRP and backup my current setup, then I want to unroot it, and back it up so that I can switch back and forth between rooted and stock, because I found out that screen mirroring breaks sometimes when you run the stock rom rooted and I want to know before hand if I need to backup my NV data with QPST before flashing back and forth between these two modes. I know I can do it in the terminal, but i've seen issues on my SGS3 with this being restored in a ROM that was not the one you backed up from, I.e. it seemed almost like the backup in the terminal assigned a unique identifier to the backup so when you flashed a ROM and needed to restore it would say the backup was corrupted, of course while I don't see any reason why the NV data would get destroyed during the process of what I'm trying to do, I just want to be fully prepared, because I'm pretty sure the .QCN generator I have for the SGS3 isn't going to write a new .QCN (NV data file) that is going to work on the note 4 seeing as how there were two or three updates to the .QCN version number for the SGS3.
