Another Zio Carrier - KDDI Mobile - Kyocera Zio M6000

Summary:
1) Another carrier, PLS-8600 instead of SCP-8600 (KDDI) - Sprint Network
2) Got FroYo and the Ringing Noise
3) Want to try OpenZIO but unsure about build differences.
Have dumps from phone if needed.
Questions:
A) Anyone have a kun.to for a Zio? Will take any version and test it.
B) Will dump_image dumps allow me to recover if need be?
C) CWM/OpenZio Suggestions?
Hope that by cutting this down it will get some feedback. Thanks!

Bump - August 1

OpenZIO isn't going to happen for you.

[Q] Unlocking Captivate - AFTER RESTORING TO STOCK ROM FROM COGNITION

Hi...
I just bought a USED samsung captivate from Craigslist and was working on getting the phone network unlocked so I can use it on TMO's network.
The previous owner restored it to Stock ROM. I rooted and downloaded SGS Unlock App from the market (same process as my Samsung Vibrant).
However, is I ran the app, it said file/directory not found. I'm assuming this is the file where the unlock codes were originally stored.
Any other way I can unlock this phone? I searched the forum and didn't find anything.
Thank you
Pay for site where you send them the phone info and they search their db's. Unfortunately when the phone is upgraded to froyo or higher, its built in the the unlock code file is encrypted. I spouse you could send the sgs unlocker devs a message and inquire about an update...
Find galaxy s one click unlocker on xda (Google) its has a .bat file which will grab the encrypted code. Be sure to thank you him them for providing the awesome program
There's also an app that's been reported to work. Called galaxy unlocker, I've used the one click and it worked for me, that's if you or anyone else has never messed with the original NV_data file. Good luck
Sent from SGS Captivate CM7 or MIUI with Escapist orTKGlitch using XDA premium app.
Out of curiosity how much did you pay for your captivate and what condition is it in

You're probably going to want this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.helroz.galaxysunlock&feature=search_result
It's based off the method I used back in October 2010 when we got our Froyo beta leak. Should work just fine.

No GSM UMTS doesn't work with Open Mobile. (Sprint's phones might). Nothing you can do will make it run. Your in luck, Captivate sells anywhere from $130-$180 in PR use Clasificadosonline.com GL
Edit: Yes Spring phones use same freq as Open. Regardless you need Open Mobile to activate it for you.
How did you get GB 3.2.5 to root?

It's not nice to hijack other peoples threads with new, unrelated questions.
Plenty of threads on how to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1444382
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1479932
Down and dirty:
Flash corn kernel with ODIN
Reboot to recovery
Find install root in menu
Install root
Reboot
You can then flash back to stock kernel or stay on corn

"This SIM Card is from an unknown source."

I updated the ROM to the most recent ICS leak and inserted my SIM card. When in either GSM or Global mode, the phone will respond with "This SIM card is from an unknown source." Is there any way to fix this? I'm on AT&T in the US.

This phone will not work on US GSM frequencies, only abroad.
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
I thought it was compatible with US GSM frequencies since its a quad-band radio. This website refers to the Radiocomm hack to use AT&T (see Android Community's article "Motorola Droid 4, Razr, and Bionic modded for AT&T and T-Mobile") and the resource on Droid-Forums implies that the Radiocomm hack isn't even necessary after upgrading to ICS ("Finally! GSM Droid 4 Works!"). Is there something I'm missing?
edit: I can't post links, so woops! You'll have to search for those things instead I guess.

I know what you talk about.
GSM is unlocked in ICS for abroad GSM carriers, but it's not working for US GSM. For US GSM you still need to go and use radiocomm patch.

I used Radiocomm to check my NV value and it matches what the patch would be setting. I'm still not able to use my AT&T SIM. Has anyone encountered this before?

Verizon is obviously blocking access to US GSM networks. This has been reported previously on the ICS leaks. You are out of luck for now unless someone figures out how to patch this.
But I got the same message with my australian sim...
I rooted, installed safestrap and then CM9 with the setting "telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice" set to "0" in the build.prop. After that I had much better GSM-reception and the message didn't show up anymore.
In build.prop there is the following string: ro.telephony.gsm-routes-us-smsc. Could that be the limiting factor? Maybe try change to 0?
That only affects sending of SMSs. If you're not in the US, and not using Verizon's SIM, yes you should set it to 0.
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
I haven't had any luck from modifying the build.prop file. Running logcat -b radio shows me that CDMA stuff is going on when I'm in CDMA mode (whodathunkit) and GSM is happening when I'm in GSM mode. Is there a guide on how to interface with the radio directly (or, well, through linux or adb) so that I can figure out what the radio is picking up? It might not be seeing the AT&T signal at all. If only I could see what AT+COPS=? returns.
Could someone post their build.prop for the latest leak? Mine was accidentally saved while deleting some line. I don't want to reboot the device for fear of some kind of mishap. If you like outside the US and have your GSM edits included, that would be greatly appreciated

Hi mate. Find"build prop editor" in play store, install and run the app and search for the string you want to change. Rest is easy.

I am pretty sure they are the same. I downloaded them both and they have the same size, date and md5.

Could i just flash this through odin?
Yes, you can.
Thanks
Thanks, I like having it all in one place.
So, it looks like everything here except will flash in heimdall except system.img.ext4. Gives an error after 4%:
Code:
ERROR: Failed to confirm end of file transfer sequence!
ERROR: SYSTEM upload failed!
Any ideas on what is causing this? Haven't tried with ODIN, since I'm on OSX and don't have a virtual Windows machine setup for this.

Very nice
My sister bought it from SPRINT US, and her friend help her to unlock it but he failed, i don't know what did he do?
And now she gave it to me for unlock, i'm surfing on the internet and i found this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2282683
i'm trying to unlock it, but when enter *#0011# this service mode appear, but no information display .
After that i'm checked her phone, I seen IMEI NULL, and BASEBAND UNKNOW, i know it used Qualcomm Chip, because i see the word "Qualcomm 4G" on the jack 3.5mm
I downloaded this firmware and restore but it's still IMEI NULL and BASEBAND UNKNOW...please help me, how i can fix it
I have added US Galaxy S 4 firmware pages to my website. In addition to the full stock firmware, I also mirror the OTA update ZIPs. Each time there's an OTA, I'll need someone to pull the OTA file from /cache or, better yet, check your adb logcat and see if the direct URL to the file is in there. Thanks! http://randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/galaxy-s4
Thread updated Enjoy!

[Q] Droid 3 solana CM10.1 "No Service"

Hi,
I flashed my droid 3 with the current CM10.1 ROM and it's working... Except for the SIM card.
It's plain not recognizing the sim. No calls, no SMS, no data.
I couldn't find anywhere how to fix nor even how to debug it.
I'm pretty new to android flashing but have extensive experience as Linux sysadmin (15+ years), so any hint about how to debug it would be very welcomed.
Any hints?
( Ahh, I'm in Brazil, using GSM)
Thanks in advance,
Leon
Hi,
Try to find the library libmoto_ril.so from the stock rom at /system/lib, and replace it. You should get signal, but until now, I'm not aware of anyone that made 3g work on JB Roms with GSM networks.
Also replace the line:
ro.telephony.default_network=3
On the default build.prop it is 7 (for CDMA).
Hope this helps.
