ok so i am going to check out a DS7 for sale tomorrow. its a t-mob BNIB and was just wondering if i should get the 4G or wifi only? i am using it for my car, as a music/internet/gps devise. i have just found out it is recalled from t-mob and not being sold in stores any longer. i have also heard that there are some problems connecting via wifi, i have an iphone and connect my ipad with now issues. i need some advise on whether or not to buy this DS7. thanks for your advise in advance
For your purposes, I'd get the wifi. Why spend extra on the T-mobile 4g version? + plan?
Also, with the release of new tablets coming, you can
1. get something better
2. get the DS7 for about $200 by Christmas (just an educated guess) when its price falls + coupon. I'm sure Staples will not move these without a discount. People don't like the resolution and viewing angle of the DS7 for $300.

Well thing is, I'm not going to be using it like other people. I am using it only as a controller for my car. I can get this 4G t-mob for less than a wifi only version. My question is, will it affect my usage ability by getting a t-mob vs wifi only? Based on the fact I am only using it via wifi.
I have the wifi only and know that it would work perfect for what you are planning to do. The only thing you have to do is root it and remove the phone apk and telephony apk so that it will not use up your battery.
I don't have the 4g so I cannot give you a comparison.

Hmm well if I can get this 4g one cheaper and I can't get it to work I can always sell it and buy a wifi only version I suppose. I'll go take a look at it and see how I feel. I was thinking if I do get the -mob version I could always just hook it up and use it as intended. But I really would like to learn about rooting and all that stuff. I've been an iPhone guy for so long, this is all so new to me. Lol

If you get the 4G model and remove phone.apk and telephonyprovider.apk, it'll work just like a WiFi with those removed. If it's cheaper, go for the T-Mobile one. Actually, just get whichever model is cheaper. Since you'll turn the cell radio off in any case, everything else is identical.

Hi I have just got hold a a DS7 4g.
Question. I am used to routing, have a SGS1 running Darky's Rom and it fly's. This unit out of the box doesnt and the screens not great.
Q Does DJ steves rom make such a difference, and is it stable?
I'm also considering the Sam Galaxy Tab.
Thoughts anyone.
Thanks

Galaxy Tab 7 has a better screen and battery life, and is inferior in every other way (hardware wise). Software wise, the Sammy comes with more bloat (due to TouchWiz), but has far more root/ROM options.
Install a new launcher (I prefer Zeam) to really see how the S7 performs. It's pretty darned quick; it handily outpaces the Galaxy Tab in every way imaginable. I know; I have both. If you can live with the battery life and screen on the Streak 7, I can't imagine why the slightly better modding community on the Galaxy Tab would sway you. After all, the Streak 7 ships with Vanilla Android (just a custom homescreen, Stage UI, on top; not a whole skin like on the GTab).
If you're talking about the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Streak 7's only advantages are the screen size and the price (and 4G, but the Verizon GTab 10.1 will have LTE). The GTab 10.1 is better in every other way.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I must say I like the form factor and the build quality is superb, the standard UI isn'ttoo bad. I guess I'm just spoilt with sammy's amoled screen on my SGS1. Would you say Zeam works better than launcher pro on this device, also have you routed your DS7.

I haven't used LP in a while, so I can't say for sure. If LP lets you set the rows/columns, that's a plus; not sure about speed, though (Zeam is super quick, free, and I've never had a redraw). My S7 is rooted because I couldn't hold out more than a week before rooting my device Just use Gingerbreak if you want to root; easy-peasy.
Ok so I bought the DS7 but it won't see my iPhone that is jail broken and running mywi to use as hot spot. Any words of wisdom? Should I just root it and be done with it? I'd like to install a mobile front end and use it as my all around car system. Thanks guys

I just want to buy one just to root it and install froyo and gapps.
I already have a kindle for my ereader.
So is it a good tab for 250?
It is an awesome tablet, especially with the 1.1Ghz Kernel installed. Now, i will be realistic, and say that the current froyo build that is out there is nothing more than a test - i dont see people using it as a daily driver on it. But, it is still being worked on, as is a ginerbread build, so who knows where it will all be in a month's time.
Basically, this has the hardware (sans cellular connection, and at the moment, bluetooth) of the Droid X, with a better screen, for half the retail cost. If that idea appeals to you, then you will love this tab.
sounds good, im going to try to find one used!
also can i just root and keep eclair for a whileb ut use a different launcher?
Agree with all the last post said.
In addition, I would say at the moment, it is the best tablet in its price range.

Yes you can.. its what i do! The froyo build is interesting to play, but not quite all there yet (though, it has basically be started from scratch, so it has really come a long way). I use the eclair build as my daily, and with the 1.1Ghz kernel, the device just flys (and puts my HTC incredible to shame, on 2.2). I use Zeam, but Launcher Pro and ADW both work as well.
With the quality of the nooks screen and the fact that these are almost impossible to brick make the nook well worth the money.......imho for what it is worth

NookColor - 250 dollars

Having a very similar tablet to the Galaxy minus 350 USD - I was going to say PRICELESS but it is in effect 350 USD

Unless there's a wi-fi only model out there I completely missed, the vast majority of us won't be able to get a Galaxy for close to $250 or even $350 factoring in the contract price which makes the Nook an even better deal.
No doubt there have been plenty of replies, and for sure it isn't like my reply is any more important than any of the others. But thought I would throw my 2 cents in.
I have an EVO, was pretty happy for the most part with the size for a phone and somewhat tablet. So I was pretty headstrong on wanting a 10" or larger tablet, was holding off for the new Tegra2's. My father and I thought a cheap tablet would be good for my mom who has memory issues etc to use to keep her active, so i bought a couple of Augen Gentouch 78's. Worth the $100 I spent on them but I fought and fought that resistive screen and knew it would be really tough for her, but was surprised that I was pretty satisfied with the 7" screen. So I looked at the next option and grabbed a couple of NC's. And I was blown away at the screen, the smoothness, the capability. The thing for $250 is incredible. It is very responsive, I mean it blows the responsiveness of my phone away at a slower speed. And after rooting, I mean the thing is limitless on what you can do. Mind you there are a few things from a true tablet it is missing, a camera, microphone and GPS, but honestly, I have my phone for GPS, my phone also has the camera for Conferencing, mind you that is the main feature I think i would like on a Tab that is missing it, but for the price, I mean really you can't touch what it can do and the speed for that price. I am completely satisfied, I am even more satisfied on the size, I do believe that 10" would be nice still for a at home all the time tablet or something, but carrying around it would be too big. The 7" is very nice, compact enough to carry but large enough to do anything. And who said size doesn't matter? So in my personal opinion it is beyond worth the $250 and makes a very fine tablet that can compete with the best of them. Mind you it is no Tegra2, but seriously is there any app out that will use a Tegra 2 power yet? I doubt it. Most games I throw at the nook have no issues. And the overclocking abilities that don't seem to overheat or cause any issues, make this beyond worth it.
So yes, I think it is a great buy, on top of that you have a perfect Reader. But with all the other abilities it is 95% perfect tablet.
My 2 cents, nuff said!

I add my voice to yes, it is worth $250. I have had mine for a week and love it--can hardly put it down.
Just saw the news that the Tab 2 is 10.1". I had been waiting to buy a tablet for the Tab 2 with hopes of the upgraded hardware and still a 7" screen. I don't want a 10" screen for a tab.
I guess i'm just looking to see if the hardware on the Tab 1 is good enough for most things.
Guess I'm just disappointed in a 10".
Will you be using it as a phone? If yes, I would ask to re-think it twice about 10" for a phone lol
I actually am thinking about letting mine go and get a Dell Streak phone (the 5"). While I love the tab but I kinda miss being able to toss it in my pocket and don't have to use bluetooth.
Or you can just wait until Honeycomb will be released, at that time you will have an upgrade in your GT 7" from Samsung or from XDA.
At the moment the Hardware is capable enough to make everything you want, record video at 720, watch HD movies or play HD Games...
Personally, I would not move to a 10" Tab, as a 7" fits my needs.
I'm not moving. I don't have 1.
I was waiting to buy a tab till the 2, but it's 10". I've played with my friends Ipad, besides being locked down, I don't like how big it is. I really like the 7" size.
I don't think in NA I can use it as a phone. PLus I don't think I want a CDMA tab even tho My cell is Verizon.
I'm using it mainly as GPS, Game, email, hopefully Skype, etc. All over wifi. I travel for my job and would like to have this, and wherever I go I have wifi, and refuse to pay ~30-40/month for a data plan or w/e.
So was just looking to see if people felt I should get the 7". I mean I know it's my decisions, I guess I just want to know based on what I want to use it for, does it do it well.
I do plan on rooting it and stuff, I heard some of the ROM's actually remove a ton of the lag, and I doubt samsung will release HoneyComb so was hoping a xda developer would for the Tab, and the Tab would be powerful enough to run it.
The 10" was a big downer. I dont see any real use for a tab just in the home and a 10" is to big to have with you all the time plus its heavy for the hands/wrists to use longer times.
Now when im running Rotos JMI ontop a 1,4GHz ext4 kernel i cant realy ask for much more. The tab works great and are quick in the perfect format.
Would be fun if hc get ported to the sgt. But i will never buy a 10" when they are almost completly useless in my eyes.
EDIT: And i use my sgt as phone so i have it on me all the time. It fits in my front pockets on my pants without problems, but im a big dude so i have big pockets

I thought the tab 1 was 1GHZ not 1.4?. But you like it alot?
I don't think I can get calling in USA.
I'm glad the Tab 10.1 turned out to be a larger device. Now i can stop trying to figure out how to afford to upgrade, and stay with the Tab1 with its 7" of goodness.

He's flashed it with a custom kernel to run at 1.4.
If you buy the AT&T version, you can indeed get voice calling in the US, after you flash it with Euro firmware and insert a SIM from a voice plan device. You can also get it with the T-Mobile version, but there's a few issues with that. Good news is that both versions can use international firmware no problem, even if you don't want/use voice calling.
I'd stay the hell away from the Sprint and Verizon devices for a couple of reasons. The first is that they have less internal memory (2Gb vs 16Gb), and the other is that neither unit can use international firmware, leaving you almost entirely at the mercy of the carriers for upgrades.

This is the kind of information I was looking for. TY for taking time.
What about the Best Buy / Amazon version? Yea I was staying away from Verizon/CDMA. I have verizon for my phone cause of work, and not a huge fan.
However, I won't need calling on the Tab.
Does it function OK OC"d at 1.4? It doesn't get too hot? Stability issues?
Yea I don't want to be at mercy. I want to put honeycomb on it if I do get it. I probably will now that 2 is 10, so I'll get 1. Just gonna wait and see if price comes down to like 400 or somethign hopefully.
I am 7" fan, too. Would love to see a SGT with the specs of the new 10.1" SGT 2 (or xoom), but with 7" screen. I am not big man, but "rounded in middle" (spare tire). I can fit my SGT in back pocket, nicely. It has fully replaced my Nexus 1.
For the 7" fans, the question maybe to stick with SGT 1 or maybe look at Acer a100 (http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=13010) -- appears to be 7" but with Tegra 2 (and a bump in a few other areas). The 7" form factor may have been validated with rumors about a 7" ipad (but those rumor seem unsubstantiated) -- so that might make more manufacturers take notice.
What would be really intersting, IMHO, 6", or 6.5" with SGT (or better) specs. I am not sure a 5" with 1024x600 would work..
LG has an 8.9" odd ball too.....
I think there is some more to come from MWC...maybe sammy has a refresh for the 7" sgt too?
Don't forget Dell has a 7" tablet too and it has dual core CPU (unlike our SGT 7"). The only downer is screen size is 800x480.
I don't think you could buy a SGT (no contract) lesser than $450 unless used. Streak 7" is $450 no contract.
I was in the same boat - bought my GT two weeks ago on T-Mobile, hoping that if there is an announcement about GT2, I can take a look at it before my return window closes. And at 10" no thank you. I actually had an iPad for few months (my wife wanted it more than me...) but just sold it, because it kept sitting unused, as it was too big for a book reader or to take it with me everywhere, but too small for good browsing (have a 14.1" laptop with 1680x1050 res for that).
I looked at the Dell Streak 7, but that screen just plain sucks. It looks like Dell was trying to build something nice, then just decided last minute that 7" won't work, so they found the cheapest LCD they could lay their hands on. Not to mention the battery life...
While it would be nice to have a GT with dual-core, 1Gb RAM and all that, I think the current hardware is more than capable, and will run Honeycomb just fine. My next tablet would have to be a lot more powerful, and have higher res screen.
i will stay with my 7'' tab
the best thing about the tab is it's size and the cell phone. i dont want to go back walking around with two devices in my pocket, i used to have an iphone & a big ass ipad so i know what is like to walk with two devices not cool lol.who ever makes the next 7'' tab with all the good stuff and a cell phone included i'm buying that.

Yea I've read about the Dell 7", not getting that for sure. Screen rez alone plus battery life, no TY.
So there is another 7" Tab coming?
EDIT: That Ace 7" seems nice, plus a WIFI only version. No word on release in USA tho, only Europe.

Here is a decent comparison matrix of the newly announced Android tablets
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/1...-lg-g-slate-vs-samsung-tab-10-1-vs-htc-flyer/
no mention of phone/voice on any of these; this is a deal breaker for some of us.
It's a deal breaker for me as i was a "one gadget man"
my main reason i go with samsung was because it can be used as a phone
if it isn't i'd go with htc already
if flyer can be used as a phone too, i might be jumping ship to htc ^^
Hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy S phone and enjoy it very much, I've wanted a Tab since I first saw them, just without a contract.
I have noticed that Sprint CDMA models with Bad ESN's (100% OK with me) are going for 275-350 dollars, sometimes brand new.
Is it still worth it? Do you guys still enjoy them?
Thanks for your input.
not a bad price if you just wanna use wifi with em. I prefer gsm models because of the increased internal memory instead of the cdma tabs. Do you have Cricket in your area? You can have the tab flashed to Cricket for data.
I love mine, but it is also a perfect replacement for my notebook and G1. Smart phones are too small for my taste, and I didn't need a full notebook anymore. Gave those devices to my wife and went with a ticked-out tab. And for me, the size is perfect.
For me it is. My tab does everything (that I can think of) the xoom does. I use it for tv, kindle, browsing and taking notes. 7 inches is perfect.

Absolutely! I was a little concerned about the wireless connectivity before I got it but it's excellent. Like the previous post, I take mine everywhere. The other thing I like is that when I turn off the wifi/3g to read an e-book at night, I wake up and it's still fully charged.
I'm pretty sold on the tabs size versus a 10 inch.. its bigger without being to heavy or a burden.
It seems like it would be enjoyable with 2.2/2.3 for the foreseeable future.
My next consideration is to buy one unsubsidized or to get one with a 2 year contract... whats your guys opinions, would you feel comfortable at this point buying one with a 2 year contract?
Seeing how people went ape**** for a nook for 200$ if you can find a galaxy tab for 275-280 range, it is better buy.
My htc desire hd arrived last saturday. I then noticed that i need to upgrade my plan as the unit is hugging too much internet bandwidth so i went to my carrier to have my plan upgraded. To my surprise, i was given a galaxy tab for free as part of the new package. So i ended up with two new devices. I think galaxy tab will be a great device in my work and will come in handy with my htc desire hd if it runs out of juice. One downside i only noticed is the absence of skype video call for android OS. But i love this one

I just acquired a galaxy tab this afternoon. It is on verizon's network but I was hoping to flash it to cricket but I'm not really able to find any resources on this. Is there a tutorial on this?
if you're used to browsing on a smaller device, then move to this one, you will not go back and if you try something bigger, it will be great, but when you start thinking about taking it with you everywhere, you go back to the Galaxy Tab.
Oh, I dont regret it one bit. Even got 3g since its so super cheap, 20 a month, went with Verizon though due to the low low price on contract, 200 dollars. I definitely love it, the perfect companion to my galaxy s phone. Thanks for all the input though guys.
P.s i think we will start to see development go up due to these things finally becoming affordable. Lets face it, most people wont dump 600 or 800 dollars on a tablet.

Sprint tablet recovery
I have a sprint tab rooted and flashed with kaz' voodoo kernal. Aside from no market app, no auto screen rotation, it's faster even with out ext4. How can I safely recover to stock. Or is there a more complete kernal I can put in to get back to closer to normal functionality. Any help would be appreciated.
I had one over a year ago, traded it for a laptop, then sold it for like $300 or so.. kind of regretted it, it was a sprint model. saw a bad esn model on craigslist, but picked it up for $100 so now i'm trying to see how to flash it from verizon to cricket. Funny i have no problems with doing the phones from spring/samsung to cricket, but verizon isn't so easy.. what am i doing wrong hmm
This thread helped me so much I was also thinking Galaxy tab, but I wasn't sure is it worth it since I already have "smartphone". No I am sure that I choose this one )
Totally worth it! Specially if you like to tweak around. I call my tab "Lazarus", since I killed it and brought it back to live so many times
S & Tab Combo
I got a Galaxy S & Tab as a combo from Optus. I must say I do still do like the size of the Tab; big enough to read easily, small enough to fit in a jacket pocket.
Just upgraded the Tab to Ice Cream Sandwich. Nice upgrade and pretty stable. If you can get the Tab that cheap, it makes it hard to justify spending $600 on one of the newer 10" models.
OK, probably gonna have the oppurtunity to get a 7" soon.
Was looking at the WIFI version. I did read here it does have GPS module which is good.
Can I put 3.0 on this? (Sorry been really busy and since I hadn't bought one yet, I hadn't kept up on everything going on with Android).
I know that there are some cool GSM firmwares I had been looking at, why I was gonna pick up an AT&T model. Can I use these on the WIFI only?
Anything else I should know?
The 8.9 in version is coming out early summer (any day.) You can't wait? It has the Tegra 2.

I know that there are some cool GSM firmwares I had been looking at, why I was gonna pick up an AT&T model. Can I use these on the WIFI only?
Anything else I should know?

You can't put honeycomb on this as yet, but have it under very good authority from excellent dev that this will be starting soon, keep an eye in the Android Dev section and it will be released there, the tag will more than likely be wifi only or GT-p10101 honeycomb Alpha which hopefully be shortly >:¬}
Hi,
I got the P1010 "Wifi-only", and although it is a quite good tablet, I can't advise you to buy it. If you like this model, you should purchase the original 3G version. Why ? Because Samsung has lowered the technical specs on the wifi version (less powerful CPU and GPU).
The user interface feels a bit more sluggish, and some games compatible with the former 3G tablet simply won't work in the WiFi edition. In addition, the custom roms designed for 3G version are not compatible either. However you can still root your device (i've done it).

The 8.9 in version is coming out early summer (any day.) You can't wait? It has the Tegra 2.

8.9 Is still a bit big for me tbh. I really like the size of the 7".

Um looking over the specs they seem exactly the same CPU, the A8 1ghz Cortez Hummingbird. Or am I missing something?

Cool. Are there any custom firmwares for the WIFI only yet? (I can start browsing tomorrow). And does the GPS fix for the other 3g tabs work for the WIFI only version?
The graphics card are not as god but i don't notice much of a difference to be honest i still prefer the wifi only and did not see the extra money worth it when i can teather rhetorically device.
And still no Rom yet. Regarding the gps fix not too sure as have not browsed the gsm threads too much.

The Wifi model uses an OMAP3 SoC vs the original 3G that uses the Hummingbird. The difference between the 2 gpus (PowerVR SGX 530 vs 540) is very apparent if you plan to use the tab for media or games. As posted earlier, there is a slight sluggishness to the base UI animation and transitions, many newer/more graphically intensive games will be very laggy or not run at all, and media will need to be encoded to be a bit lower quality for it to run smoothly. If you don't need the tab to be a media/game powerhouse then the wifi version should be good enough.
don't use it for games so did not notice anything.. downloaded a few games on the device but did not play them (they were free with the sammy). regarding the movies, encoded all on 720 automatically for the size and never had an issue in playing them

720p?
And maybe if it was my money I'd take the 3g, but it's a gift. So it was that or something else I had no interest in.
Hopefully a rom can help with some of that sluggishness.
Didn't know they used a lesser GPU in the wifi only, that blows.
Also is there an official ROM for the 2.2.1 or .2/.3? Anything? Or do I just gotta wait and hope there are dev's working on the wifi model?

I would recommend u to buy the original tab.
The hardware is better and it has 3g.
Also its not a lot more expenisve than the wifi only model.
I got mine for 300€ from eBay
Also its the only tablet with phone functionality.
I don't know what the point of the wifi only tab is. if it had better hardware or at least the same as the original version just without 3g it would be okay for a significantly lower price..
But it doesn't.

Again a gift. Not my money. And here in the states anyways, new 3g phone is like 500-600, and not buying a data plan, so 337 is decent. I guess i could ask them to go to ebay, but eh it's their money and want to buy new. I mean really i'm not gonna kick a gift horse in the mouth.
I do now understand the hardware limitations, no HDMI, but it's free so yea.

Well I'll get it and see how I like it.
BTW is there a 30 pin to component out? Just for the Car video system, don't have HDMI anyways, so HDMI wouldn't do me any good anyways on the 3g.
There is that cable. It may be listed in the accessories section. I connect my tab to a projector frequently. You can find them on ebay for less than $25. Make sure its compatable with the wifi model number.

I haven't found one for the WIFI model. Damn samsung.
Well, the pins ++might++ be the same. The cheapest place for tab called is www.tv-mall.com, that cable is $3 there, and may be worth the gamble. Why don't you pm me, I have a suggestion.

What u can try is what my friend did. He bought a 3G version from ATT for $250. Then he called them after he received it and got transferred to customer relations. He told them the tablet plan is no commitment and wanted to cancel because wifi is enough right now and he's no longer traveling for work. They canceled his plan and now he has a brand new $250 3G version. He only did this maybe 2-3 weeks ago.
The topic says it all, with the current state of the tablet world, and understanding that when the Transformer Prime and its generation of tablets comes out the Gtab7 will be 2 generations behind, should i buy one ?
I can get one 2nd hand, for 150€ wifi+3g.
Is it worth it ?
if you can find one for a decent price, i'd say go for it... it might be worth checking the model of the one you want to buy to make sure developers support it if thats what you are after.
i just recently bought myself a galaxy tab 7 and im sure i'll get tons of use out of it. its such a nice size and portable, and the expericne is comparable to my phone, so nothing its too foreign like it is going from froyo to honeycomb or something.
i figure i'll keep this one until they come out with some decent 7 inch icecream sandwich tablets and i'll sell it and buy one of those. but i dont see one coming out that will thrill me much until at least mid next year.
i bought mine for about that same price (but in USD), honestly for me the instant i saw the deal it was far too good for me to resist.

I already own a HD2 (work phone) and a DHD (private phone), so the Tab will be a complement to this ecosystem. I like it not being too big, and yet not too small.
We can find tons of 7inch tablets, bat all of them have the same resolution has my phones, and i wish to AVOID pixels
Performance wise, is it still on par? Can i throw it the same things i can on my DHD ?
How do you expect the ICS support to be? We're talking about samsung turf, and they're currently the "good guys" on google eyes, so the systems will always be similar. Yet i remain renitent... I hope others will comment this thread
well if you are looking at the one of the first generations of galaxy tabs (the ones that come with android 2.2), then i think samsung will not officially be releasing ICS on it. however there are some people who are working on porting ICS to the tab. You can find more on that in the development section.
I have a samsung galaxy s, SCH-I500, same as the fascinate on verizons network i think...
the phone and the tab have nearly identical specs, but the tab does feel much smoother. probably due to the increased ram it has.
one thing you can always consider though. 200$ is a good deal, and for what you can buy it for, if it turns out you cant achieve the experience you want on it... how hard will it be to just turn over to someone for the cost you paid? or even a bit more?
i cant really speak for the hd2 or desire hd phones, as i've not played with either. but i suspect the fact that you'll be using the tablet for different purposes would still make it a good buy. so far i think all the apps i have on my phone have ported over to my tab with no issues, seeing as how its pretty much the same OS version.

I'm in Europe, so no name mumbo jumbo for me. We have the Galaxy S, and the Galaxy S2. No Fascinates or whatever Verizon/Sprint/ATT/Tmouse chooses
(Thank god for that...)

I've come to accept that RAM is a major player on this OS. It's memory freak, but above a certain point, it's pointless of course (just like a PC).
As it stands, on 2.3.x, anything above 1gb is too much

200€ is a little too much above my budget. 150€ is the most i'll give, expecially for something that's probably 1 year old (i don't mean the release data, i mean the warranty)

I WOULD be using the tablet. It got sold (bummer) minutes after the OP.
Pitty.... but i'll keep looking...
ah... sorry about the dollar amount... i was doing a rough conversion. 150 euros is about 200 us dollars.
that's something that was kind of getting me discouraged about my search for a 7inch. the lowest price i found before the one i bought was i think 330 USD, which is about 100 more euros than your budget.
thats why the minute i saw the deal, i jumped on it right away.
one thing that seems to be unanimous though, is try and stay away from the wifi only versions of the tab, as they lack in updates (even from samsung), and have little to no 3rd party development.

Message received and understood! No wifi.
Don't apolagize, i'm the one that should be.
Still, 150€/$200 is a very nice deal, i hope i can find one again.
BTW, how hard is it to sim unlock this things ?
i couldnt tell you how easy it is to sim unlock the tab... mine is a verizon wireless version, and they dont take sim cards... and i think its locked into their network.
GSM tabs are easy to unlock. Search the forums.
I've actually. Bought 3 of the original 7" tabs recently, all at or below $200 CDN. All were mint condition.
Why 3? Well. Friends keep wanting in on the great deal
The Galaxy tab, while older is still very capable. Compare it to the kindle fire or nook color at around the same price point.
Slap CM 7.1 or CM 9 and you're in a good spot.
