HD7 using my every day he turns off alone, without even display "Goodbye".
And this happens whatever the application I use.
I hope you can help me because my phone is almost unusable!
send back for servicing
Provided you are having to turn the phone back on and go through the boot sequence (it is not just going into power save mode and turning off the display) I would agree it is a bad phone.

Hey,
I had gotten to sample the HTC Touch Diamond...and thats all. I got it as a gift from overseas (so its a GSM -simcard- phone). Long story short, I didn't want to buy the phone from the local wireless provider because I'd be stuck with them. I open up the HTC box, turn on the phone, calibrate, take a few pics, and then I decided to put in a simcard. The phone was on at the time and I wanted to make a few phone calls to test out the new phone. I have no idea what happend, but the phone just turned off. I turn it on, and there is no lights, no screen, however the phone did turn on (i felt the vibration, and heard the startup sound). I took out the battery, and put it back in a couple of times and I finally got to turn on the screen and lights, however i recieved a werid message, and it didnt seem that my buttons at the front were working right (they worked fine before when i took pics and listend to the demo music), so I unplugged the battery and put it back in..Since then I have not been able to turn on my screen.
Here is how I know the phone is on, but there are no lights and no screen:
1. the boot up vibration
2. the bootup music
3. the volume up and down
4. I am able to touch the screen to turn up and down the volume.
5. When I put in a simcard, the phone does a ring every min or so (I have no idea as to the cause as i cant see error messages)
Now this is what I did to try to fix it:
1. I tried soft reset , however pressing the reset button does not seem to make the phone restart as i can turn up and turn down the volume no matter how long i press the reset button
2. I tried a hard reset, that doesnt seem to work either. (btw im guessing the confirmation message screen and pressing the volume up key) I think that the reason why steps 1 and 2 are not working, is because the phone does not seem to want to restart!
3. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back in..but i never did it for longer than a minute
4. I tried to update the rom, however the rom update application gives me a "Connection error" even though i have my phone plugged in. If i am supposed to set the connnection up from the inside then nm i cant do it cuz i cant see a thing.
5. I tried charging the phone (through USB and the power outlet)
Does anyone have any idea what happend? how can HTC Touch Diamond go from new to blank screen in about 5 minutes of usage?
plz give me all suggestions u can come up with...plz try to help me. Ive been waitign 2 years for a good phone, and now that I have one, I cant use it. Help me!
remove the sim card and see if it acts normal.
is it already unlocked?
the sim card has been removed, reinserted , and removed again.. yes the phone is already unlocked as the simcard apparently worked ( i made a phone call and the phone rang)
has no one ever come across my problem?
bumping...
Hello,
I've tried searching for an answer on this, but no sucess until now.
My Diamond 2 turns on its screen when it looses and get radio signal back. That is a good feature but the annoying thing is if I enter in a lift with the cell phone in my pocket, it will loose signal, turn screen on and the contact with my pocket will give it "crazy" commands that will mess it up or even call someone.
Is there a way (maybe via Registry Editing) to force it to never turn on the screen unless I press the power button? At least, an option to do nothing in case of signal loss?
Thank you.
Robert
I've just done a few experiements and if I lose signal and it returns, nothing happens. However, perhaps it would help you if you get into the habit of locking your phone before you press power. To do this hold the home button down for a second or so. The phone will buzz and it'll be locked.
Thank you. That's what I will do whenever I put the phone in my pocket. It is still not the best solution, even because I use my D2 to receive emails from work so I am forced to type a password to unlock it after sliding to unlock.
I know there is a Registry key to auto lock, but I prefer doing that manually as you said.
Which ROM are you using? In both original HTC English and now TOM's 2.02.1 it always turn screen on when looses and get signal back.
Thanks.
I'm using the original HTC. I've tried it again, I go to a place where I know I'll lose signal, wait until it does, then press power off. I go back into signal and nothing happens on the device. Only when I press power on does it come back on and show that I have signal. If I do it the other way, press off before I go out of signal, then the behaviour is the same (though I have to just wait and assume signal has been lost, since I can't see it!). Is it perhaps that the phone is set to light up when it receives a certain bit of data (such as a push email), which it's more prone to getting when it comes back into signal? Incidentally, it's 'lose', not 'loose'
I get similar behaviour after setting the phone to stream internet radio and then turning it off and putting in my pocket. Sometimes, after signal loss, I get it out and notice it's turned on and random things have happened due to screen contact.
Funny thing is, I've tried locking the phone too, and exactly the same thing happens. what's the point of a phone lock if it doesn't (lock)!
I've not associated it with a particular event except signal loss. But, when it's not lost the signal, I don't take it out of my pocket, so perhaps it's happening other times without me noticing.
Anybody with an idea to completely lock the phone will be my hero.
And, whilst we're on the subject of annoying traits, is there a way to get rid of the wretched WM "cannot connect with current settings" dialogue which appears after a few failed attempts to reconnect to a 3G network? I find this *really* annoying when all it takes is a few more attempts...
Hi
When the signal is lost or regained the phone is triggered to turn on, but in "unattended" mode. The phone will be on and applications will run however unattended mode is just that, and so no user input is accepted and the screen is not turned on, and the owner will have no idea the phone has switched on. After a short period of time the phone will enter sleep again. In fact many times a day the phone will be turning on in unattended mode without you knowing for one reason or another.
The problem with the phone awaking fully is going to be due to an application or feature you are using. The application will start running when the phone enters unattended mode and is for some reason raising the power state to fully on, this is due to bad programming as it isn't suppose to do this unless it has an alert and needs to show the screen and wait for a response, even then it should give the option for this to be disabled.
Incidently a lot battery problems where the battery doesn't seem to last very long can be due to applications keeping the phone running in unattended mode, so while the phone looks off the processor is still on allowing applications to run, this very quickly drains the battery.
You need to find the application causing the problem then get in touch with the author.
Regards
Phil
Thanks for that, Phil. Understanding is the first step to sorting a problem out. I wasn't aware there was an "inbetween" state.
Hey.
My Diamond seems to be dead. Yesterday and this morning it seemed to be working just fine. Then it begin taking a lot of time to get the screen on and now the phone won't turn on at all.
When I plug in the charger, now, there is no light going around the d-pad, as usual.. The computer didn't even detect any new hardware when I connected it..
When I press the soft reset button nothing happens. I tried booting it to the tricolour screen, but as it doesn't even want to turn on it was to no avail..
Is there any way to repair it without having to send it to an HTC repair centre? 'Cause I'm afraid that is not option..
Or am I ****ed?
Have you tried pulling out the battery and leaving it for about 30 seconds then put it back in?
Yes. It still doesn't turn on.. ):
Sorry for my bad English
Hello friends of the forum, I present my problem. I was given to repair a S3 LTE really is driving me crazy. We'll explain: the owner did filth with ROM to the point to make it unusable. Turns on, but after a while it stops and turns itself off. I tried to flash the stock, wipe system etc .. from recovery and put back the stock, but every time I turn on the phone and get to the Initial Setup (the one that says Samsung GALAXY which allows choosing the language) crashes and off. Also known that the recovery is very very slow (both TWRP that stock that cwm). I managed to flash rom 2 including Cyanogenmod but this crashes. Sometimes the poor cell can not even start that hangs on and off. I tried to replace the battery with one that I already had and the situation does not change. I wanted to try to do an update of the bootloader because I think the problem is the. Further inform you that when it crashes but is charging if I remove the battery on the phone stays on but completely locked and I can not even press the power button for 3 seconds, because it is completely freezed. Another observation I have noticed is that if I leave him in charge when switched off the led solid red, the screen shows no signs of life and if the detachment micro usb LED remains lit sign that is completely blocked even when it is charging (WHILE TURNED OFF!). I hope you can help. I tried everything
Maybe it's power button problem.Check the power On/Off .
Hello dear community,
Something really strange happened with my device about 1.5 years ago, but since I still keep it in my house, I can't help but wonder what happened and is it fixable.
So, the story: In some sunny day in July/August of 2020 I was browsing through my device, then I locked the screen and few seconds later I remember that I want to check something, so I pull the phone out of my pocket, use my fingerprint or face to unlock it, then just during the screen unlock animation (that takes ~1 second to "expand"), the device froze halfway through and would become unresponsive. By that I mean that the touch did not work, nor the Power/Vol/Bixby buttons. The phone heated up so much that in the span of a few seconds, the metal frame got so hot that it burned the skin of my hard, then a few more seconds after, the screen went black. This was the last time the device had worked in any way.
What have I tried to do to ressurect it:
Turn it on via the power button
Plug it in a PC with Odin - Odin did not pick-up the device
Let it charge overnight
Any possible button combination to get to various screens (fastboot, etc)
What I believe happened: Since I was running a custom ROM I believe that when I unlocked the device, something went wrong in the code and it caused the device to freeze and the heat was produced by frying the SoC or something else. Taking the back glass did not show any visible (and smellable) damage.
What do you think ? Is there something that you can suggest me to try to bring the device back to life ?
Thanks in advance!
If you can't get into fastboot, download mode, recovery mode, etc. Then your phone is probably - in my experience - subject to a physical repair.
