no ext, no MTD, have tried recovery v2.0.0.5 / v3 / v4
Used to flash often without a problem, until some day all roms suddenly fail.
to make sure all data/cache are cleared, all wipe (4 totally) and all format (but sdcard/ext) are done. still i wouldn't work. only asop v0.9.9.2 will do.
could anyone tell me why?

At least the only rom you can flash is arguably the best ROM over made for the heroc. Could be worse.

it just stopped at the white screen with HTC logo
i believe i've waited long enough to make sure it's not working.
and there wasn't any error reported while flashing.
Could it be SDcard problem?
I think you're not wiping good enough. Flash caulkins format all then wipe EVERYTHING manually except SD card but NOT excluding sd-ext. Then go to advanced (assuming you're on cw) and wipe dalvik. Then flash caulkins format all one more time. Flash the rom and report back. I'm sure it will work

don't know what your "caulkins" means.
i use cw recovery
4wipe(data/cache/dalvik/battery) + 4format(boot/cache/data/system)
I don't perceive any other wipe/system options.
anyway thanks for reply

Caulkins is a zip that formats the boot, data, system, and cache in one step. It can be.found in the first post of the wildheroc Rom thread.
But your doing what it does already, it just makes it faster really. Still worth a try tho
Also, I remember when people used to have problems flashing stuff, a wipe of the SD card helped. Just back everything up on your computer the wipe it with everything else.
I don't know if they ever figured out why it worked, just that sometimes a bad file get on the card and wont let it boot. Just another suggestion to try.

Ok want to clear Dalvik cache and wipe my sd card. When I try to do it from the (home +power) screen it says must do it through the counsel. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!!
Also I tried to switch roms, and I did the factory reset/wipe and my boot screens and what not did not change to the new rom's. They were the same as the old. I think the rom I flashed was kinda crappy maby that was it, but like I said any help is much appreciated thanks!
Are you using version 1.5.2 of the recovery image? That message is a known bug you get when clearing dalvik cache. You can ignore it - the cache really is being wiped.

I recently updated to the latest Sprint release in order to get the new radio and PRL. I re-rooted using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804296&highlight=root . Ever since then, I been unable to wipe cache and dalvik in the recovery menu. It says it's done wiping, but nothing happens. I also been having trouble restoring nandroids, it would be stuck at the white HTC screen and I have to pull the battery and try again.
Anyone having this problem?

I've tried re-flashing with no change, and yes I'm using Firerats.
I think I'm having this problem as well... maybe. When I try to nandroid restore, I have to go through the Google account setup and when I skip it my launcher crashes...
I've had 1.7 for a long time, and I don't think I have any problems with it.... Oddly though, you say the recovery "says it's done wiping" and nothing happens, what the heck is supposed to happen? and what specifically makes you think it is not wiping? I now am curious if I have the same issue. My nandroids do seem to always work, whether creating one or restoring one...
When wiping cache, it will free up some internal memory. When wiping dalvik, it will take longer to boot, around 10 minutes. This no longer happens.

For the Dalvik, you can be absolutely sure by wiping Dalvik, connecting phone to usb, and in command prompt type
adb logcat
If you see a lot of lines saying DexOpt then that means Dalvik was indeed wiped.

Sorry, I should have been more thorough. You should see a lot of DexOpt lines during the subsequent boot process, not during the actual Dalvik wipe in recovery. Just to be sure, is that what you meant?

I ran adb logcat after the phone booted. Anyway, I just switched back to Clockwork recovery which wipes properly, RA 1.62 also wipes properly. I don't know why 1.7 stopped working for me.

Well, 1.7 doesn't wipe properly for me either anymore.... weird - I wonder what broke it, because it seems it is not an isolated occurance... I dislike clockwork so I will try out 1.6.2. I wonder if this is why people in the GB thread who use 1.7 have been having issues getting the rom to work/bootloops... I bet it is. I will test 1.6.2 and see if I can flash GB without loops and post over there. And to pmgrands, yes there is that app which I've had for a while and it's nice when you don't want to go into recovery. BTW you can also wipe the dalvik cache using titanium backup, and you can wipe data/factory reset using the system settings menu, but it's way easier to do it all in one place(recovery), especially when you are about to flash something, but thanks for heads up for those who didn't already know about it.

Hi everyone!
I'm still a newbie arround here, so i will have to tell you all the steps i did until i got the problem.
So i did the following: I have stock rom (4.0.4) and BaseBand, i've rooted the phone using NVFlash method (using All-in-One Toolkit by SpyrosK) and i've replaced the Stock ICS BootLoader also using the AIO Toolkit. The phone was working great and all but after some weeks it started getting slow and i though about doing a factory recovery. So I tried the backup normally. Went to the menu then settings> backup and reset> factory data reset. After the reboot the normal LG logo showed and then the following: "Unfortunatly, the process com.android.phone has stopped" and behind this text box it has: "Encryptation unsuccessful
Encryptation was interrupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible. To resume using your phone, you must perform a factory reset[...]" and it has a reset phone button but i can't acess it because the text window is on top.
After I got this I tough about giving a try to CWM(v6.0.2.5) recovery. So i tried the following: wipe cache partition, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions and tried the reboot but the same problem still persists...
Can anyone help me? This doesn't seem like a brick to me and it was supposed to be a factory reset but isn't correctly working. What can I do to fix this?
Tell me if you have any question or if you need a picture of the screen i get when i boot the phone. Than you very much.
Edit: Already tried to change my recovery image, still have the same problem...Was thinking in installing the stock rom again via CWM. Is it a good ideia? Will it fix?
In CWM there is a factory reset too (something like wipe data/factory reset). That should do the trick (but I'm afraid you'll have to set up from scratch again). Otherwise you'll have to wipe everything (including format /system) and flash the ROM again...

I am sorry to hear. Why don't you try flashing another ROM, just to test? For example pengus' CM10 equivalent http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058231? It is very stable. Remember to update to last Kowalski kernel (by flashing after flash of ROM). May I suggest M1 norh (without ram hack)...
PS You need to be on new bootloader - see instructions in thread. If you have problems with the CM10 camera, you can flash CM10v3 by feav http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163473

Hey guys,
I was running CM 10.1.3 and decided to go to Slim Bean 2.1. I followed the instructions, but when I rebooted instead of a clean install, I had all my old apps. Naturally, I went back to recovery and wiped everything again including sdcard and flashed Slim again (from external sd card). However, when I rebooted, again I had everything - old apps, music, photos... As you might imagine after this dirty flash the phone is quite laggy. Please tell me how to make recovery properly wipe the old data.
Any help is appreciated

What recovery are you running? I am going to assume CWM v6.0.3.1...
From main menu;-
Wipe Data/factory rest
Wipe cache partition
From Mounts and Storage menu;-
Format /system
Format /cache
Format /data
Format /sd-card
From Advanced manue;-
Wipe dalvik cache
Now install.
You assume correctly. I had already done that, but I did it again in the order that you described. No difference, I still get all my app, my wallpaper, and all my accounts are still logged on. That is strange. Is there another way to wipe the phone?

Yes, it's very strange. I have done that before, but never with such results. I think I might have to resort to a kdz flash of stock rom, but I'll wait a bit to see if someone comes up with a solution. Nevertheless, I will have to find a solution, because after the last several dirty flashes one on top of the other the phone does not work as it should. It is very laggy and with an even higher battery drain (which was the initial reason for a clean install).

I have to admit that I would look at doing a KDZ reflash to get everything back clean, then CWM and reinstall of the ROM.

too late now to go back to format and reinstall rom. just go in data/app delete everything in there. also in data/dalvic-cache. then if u know from system apps which ones u dont want , go delete them and then find their dalvic-cache in /cache/dalvic-cache.
then go delete from sdcard the folder android. then from sdcard delete every zero and empty folder. last one delete all data/data and reboot. nothing should be left from previous rom. now if u have more leftovers in data/media/obb or data/media/legacy, delete. (dont delete the legacy in storage/emulated...!). about the problem u had. did u choose wipe and selected manually to wipe all those or u chose to format all data ? there must be a choice to format everything. ( dont do it now it will delete everything ). if that doesnt work then fix permissions.
Somehow after several attempts it worked and wiped everything. I am not sure, however, if it works consistently.

Hi guys,
Need your assistance in this. I downloaded the 4.4.2, the Gapps (stock version), and the CWM Touch 6044. Flashed successfully the 6044. Rebooted, and flashed omni 442 and then the gapps. Did a wipe data/factory reset. Then pressed reboot device. The phone will restart and stay stuck at the Omni Logo. No progress from there at all. Did a few other reboots and different combinations to the above but to no result. Stuck there. Finally, did a restore from my backup just to have a phone again..Any idea what I did wrong from the start?
How long did you wait at the first bootup? It took quite long for me, so I'd suggest waiting up to 20 minutes before turning off the phone. Try flashing with the most lightweight Gapps package, that's what everyone seems to be using. You could also try wiping cache and dalvik cache.

Well, did the Dalvik cache but later on, when I was experimenting. I had waited at least 16/18 minutes till my patience ran out...
Decided to have one more go right now. 1. Did a wipe data / factory reset. 2. After that, wiped Dalvik cache. 3. Presently installing Omni and then will install gapps. 4. Will reboot and leave it to boot until I leave work. (couple of hours from now). And will see what happens.
- Forgot to add thaty in all instances, I selected YES in the "root" question in the end. -

Nothing changed. Stuck at the Omni logo for about 50 minutes..

Same result - has been in the Omni Logo for more than half an hour.

all I did under mount & storage is the "format /system". Did not mount anything any other time. Is this part of the procedure too or are we shooting blind here? - Cause directions in the post say flash rom, flash apps, wipe data & reboot, let alone the 15 other combos I've done.
Haven't tried anything yet cause I need to re-download the ROM and presently I can't get any of my 3 PCs "see" the LG's contents like a flash drive. Can only do it in my work's laptop. Beats me why..
