i am currently on fasty 2.4 its really very good and stable with a great battery life....!
Meh, I tried it, but I'm not really a fan of the true captivate firmware, it just seems to lack the punch of i-9000 roms.
Fasty is currently my wife's ROM of choice. Seems to be a pretty decent choice for KB1, though the icons lack a certain "unity". Personally, I prefer Gingerbread based ROMs.
Fasty v2.5 was released. I have been using it for a couple of months now. Probably the longest I have used a single ROM.
I have to say its great. For me its the fastest most stable ROM I have used on my Captivate. Pretty safe as well. Really good battery life.
I have tried GB ROMs as well and still come back to Fasty.
Just my .02
Good Luck !
I enjoyed the fasty roms a lot, but I just can't go back to any rom that lacks the features of cyanogen mod 7.

I've had Fasty 2.4 installed for 3 days now. Being my first ROM I'm very happy with it. Very stable, no problems at all. Very responsive. Have not had a true test of maximum battery life yet as I've been doing a lot of streaming of music since I installed it. When I get back to work next week I'll find out more about real battery life. Two to three hours of streaming puts the battery down to 15% after 8 hours. Expecting much longer under normal conditions.

Wife's phone: Came off MIUI and stock before that. Fasty is fast, smooth, and stable. NO complaints.
Staying with this one.
Just flashed 2.5 a couple days ago and really liking this. Anyone else have an issue with the alarm vibrating instead of playing the alarm tone when the phone's sitting on the dock?
Edit: nvm, TB restored a clock from a previous rom. Once I uninstalled it, no more problem.

Everything's great except after a week, I got a lil bored and started messing around with settings somewhere and now whoever I'm on the phone with hears nothing. I can hear them just the same as usual (it is at&t :/) and send and receive text as normal but my voice isn't going thru. Csc is unknown. I flashed a new uckb1 modem and that didn't help. Please help

Ok. I have a fresh Samsung Captivate (build 1008) that I just flashed to stock with ODIN.
I want to mess it up a little bit. I want it to do this. I want it to do that. "ohhh ahhhh"
You, people out there, give me some recommendations for cool/good/fast/best ROMs.
Give me good ones, I'm tired of seeing the same ROM with a different skin and interface over and over. I want something different, unique, a nice selection of apps (google talk would be nice )
Have a look in the dev section for your phone, not sure what is available for that model

Have you tried dragon 2.2.1? I did and it was a nice surprise to see how different the layout was.
thanks, i'll give it a look. uh..actually, i think i saw that one on the forums, but it didn't say what phone it was for. I just saw a link and it just kept going on and on about how great it was but didnt say what phone (like captivate, vibrant..idk if roms are universal)
If you know what you are doing cm7 is one of a kind

Before you do ANYTHING make sure you have 3 button recovery. If you don't and you do the wrong thing, you can find yourself in some hot water
It doesn't get much better than cognition 4.1.1
Beg to differ. Just saying

My setup is in signature. The phone will start up with a scrabled pixalated screen for about 2 sec. Not that bad. I'm trying to figure out adb right now to change that.
Fusion 1.3 best rom
fusion 1.3
Any ROMS that Adam makes are awesome cause they're stupid fast and snappy including Firefly which he previously worked on. Right now I'm using Ryude's Precision 3.5 with UC/UV and getting awesome battery life (about 28-30 hours single charge) as a moderate to heavy user without sacrificing speed and stability. If it wasn't for me tweaking out a few things and soft bricking my phone previously running SuperNova 2.3, I think I would have stuck with it for a LONG time but meh, trying new ROMs never hurts.

like "stupid fast"? Those ROMs sound amazing though.
these threads get locked so fast.
its up to your own opinion. I like serendipity, i always find myself coming back to it.
I can't decide which is better.
I wan the stock r o m theme,so its either these 2
I need good sound call quality(I saw people say andromeda have poor call quality), good battery life, good wifi signal and good gps.
I wan high benchmark too(does benchmark affects performance a lot?)
what is the main different there 2 rom ?
can they be flashed by aio captivate toolbox?
nid some advice,thx
From what i hear, cognition has great battery but continuum is faster. But that is just what i hear, to really see what you like you should try both out.

Continuum has a very nice gui and battery life isn't shabby either..
i dont know anything about flashing yet, so i think im gona flash once only coz im scared that i will brick my phone
There is no reason to be scared, do some reading. As long as you follow directions and dont pull any plugs, it is safe. I have been flashing since christmas and havent had a problen.

flashed cognition 4.1.1 today. will report back tomorrow
i heard cognition 4.1 have gps prob?
The GPS works in cognition 4.1.1
...not the greatest, but it works
I like cognition roms because they are very stock-like... If that makes sense... Battery life is great too, I get a days use with heavy data usage and texting. Haven't tried the continuum rom yet, so you would probably want to go skim the threads for more info

I've had both and like the looks and speed of continuum.

I'm running Gingerbread ROMs right now and hesitant to move to ICS. When are ICS ROMs good enough for daily use? I'm looking for stability and speed that is comparable to Apex and Mosaic. Prefer to use Apex right now because it's the most up to date and most stable.
You could read through the threads to see what others are saying. But I installed it on my Dads cappy a few weeks ago, and he hasn't had a single issue with it so far. Before that he was on Mosaic and was having a ton of issues. I used it for a couple of days when I put it on his phone, and it was probably the fastest, smoothest rom that I had ever run while I had the cappy. I would go for it.

Ya I'm taking a brief look, but not sure which to choose if I do move to ICS.
Basic AOSP (clean untouched googgle android) is Onecosmic's. The soon to be CM9 is team Hacksung. There is a themed modded one based of Team Hacksung's work. Wich one is more stable or not depends on the user, up to you to read and try.
I use teamhacksung's every day as my main ROM, and it works fantastically. I'm still running build 12, so there are some improvements since then, but I don't have any issues with it at all. It is significantly faster than all the other ROMS I have tried (I used to use Mosaic...). The only thing that is slightly worse is the battery life. If I use my phone a lot (more than texting...like, web browsing, youtube, etc), my phone dies before an entire day of usage. Granted, I did get my captivate the first day it came out, so there might be a hardware issue there too.
I highly recommend it. It was the best jump I have made, and it stopped me from getting the GS2. Now I can wait for the GC3

The 'best' ROM is whatever you find suits you. Best to just try a few out and make your own decision.
I've had my SGS for almost 2 years now, I had a gingerbread rom on it, that was working great, then started getting buggy on me. Even after starting from scratch and putting the rom on it, I was still having the same issues.
Last night I decided to put the teamhacksungs ICS port on it. I had issues with the bugs in CM7, which was actually the reason why i used gingerbread (Superclean milestone).
I was a little worried that those issues i had were not fixed, but i have to say.
ICS runs awesome on this phone, I haven't even come across any bugs yet.
I'm very happy with it. For any of you that have a SGS and are reluctant to go to ICS, do it. Its very snappy, and a lot of cool new features.
Don't get me wrong... I think I might still get the SGS III when that comes out for verizon anyway, but at least i'm not ripping my hair out when i use my currrent SGS.
since I put on my SGS ICS seem to have a new device
I tried for a couple of days using ICS....it was 4.0.1 if I recall but I didn't like it. Not stable, bugs, etc. Now I am using Dmore ... very nice looking (ICS themes and icons)and fast battery ok, still no bugs after 2 weeks of using.
Yup. On my current Vibrant phone: I'm using AOKP and it does everything I need it to do plus voodoo. Except GPS of course.
Try rem ics ux it is a very stable awesome ROM! If you undervolt it you can expect as good as or maybe a little better battery life than gingerbread with a sgs 3 theme

I recommed you to test everything that you find interesting. its worth it
Hey Droid 3 folks, hoping you all can point me in the right direction.
My fiancee has a droid 3 and the thing is bloated to all hell and bogged down, so I rooted it and have flashed a number of ROMs for her to try and although better than stock she's still expending bad battery and slowness.
She's not a technical type and she just wants something that works. Any recommendations on ROMs would be greatly appreciated. I've tried steel droid 4.5 and 4.8, as well as maverick and eclipse. I thought the latest SD 4.8 would be best but after using it today she said the battery was horribly and it was lagging.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. what an awful phone in terms of unlocking, rooting, and ROM options, I feel bad for anyone with this phone. Long live the Nexus line!

I would say try minimoto or mav rom. They are pretty much the only roms that work fully, minimoto probably has the best battery imo.

I'd have to agree with Minimoto, excellent ROM.
XT862 2.3.6 DST SafeStrap Rom GSM Compatible
only been running it a couple days but battery life seems to be good
haven't tried Minimoto yet, so can't compare
Minimoto has the best battery life but if you want stable as heck, you still can't beat Liberty 2, even though it's older. Minimoto has gotten a lot of stability lately as well. It might take some tweaking to get it as you want exactly but it runs great.
Thanks for all the feedback, we'll give minimoto a try and see how or goes.

Minimoto for smallest/fastest.
Mavrom 4.0 for best overall package.
Both very stable
i had reboots with minimoto the first day.. honestly i've never found a rom for the d3 i could handle for more then a few months
Minimoto has never rebooted on me. How did you flash it?

errors/reboots, the first 24 hours after rom install do not count

I've tried several different ROMs, and always end up coming back to MavRom. Currently running 4.5, it's been my daily for months now. The only issue I've run into is that I need to manually reboot my phone a couple times a week, as things start getting slow and glitchy... which might be my fault, as I've poked and tinkered with it a lot, but I can't be bothered to re-install it due to laziness.
Minimoto offers better battery life, but it was sort of a pain to get everything set up and working the way I like (and a few features are omitted from Minimoto that I liked). I don't have that much experience with Liberty - had an install going for testing, but ended up having to SBF and never re-installed it. The ICS and JB ROMs are pretty cool, but the battery life isn't great and the camera doesn't work (dealbreaker).
MiniMoto v1.65
I'm using MiniMoto at the moment and have to say I'm very pleased. It's not an ICS or JB ROM like most wanted for their D3, but it's GB with great optimization. I have had it going since first install last week and still no problems and great performance in speed/response and battery life. I have yet to have any problems with it and most likely going to flash it on my friend's D3 as well. I'll edit if any changes or problems occur before then.
