Current PRL? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a running sticky or thread which lists the current PRL for the sprint CDMA HeroCs? I have been getting pretty bad signal lately and was thinking about updating it, but considering that is a bit of an ordeal (I just load a Sense ROM and update that way), I don't want to do it unless different.
Thanks to all.

Not that I know of. Oostah has a thread of PRL's. Current Sprint PRL for us the 60681
Sent from my HTC Hero making C.R.E.A.M.

I can definitely confirm that is what I got (PRL 60681). Sad I have to give up my 01115 one, but that was strange anyways.
Thanks.

I just did it 2 days ago using one of NFX's rom's and it is 60681. There was actually another update after 01115, it was 60680. Maybe that's why your signal changed. I tried to CWM a backup from an RUU and it wouldn't flash...just stuck on the green HTC screen. I hate that. I tried 2 recoveries as well (4.0.1.4- Thanks Dastin and 2.5.0.7 Thanks Koush), but no go.

CM 5.0.2 (I don't recall when the change happened over to 36B but I know for a fact that 5.0.2 was based on it as I just moved from that to 5.0.4.1) was based on 36B. So all roms following until a newer software update happens...

The jury's still out on whether it's better. I haven't heard definitive evidence that it's better with 3G or anything, and I assume there's a reason it hasn't been released OTA yet, so I'm sticking with ERE27.
Noob question but what's this radio being discussed?
I mean is it for music radio or for signal reception and how do I upgrade mine on my stock N1?

The radio is for network connectivity..or as you put it "signal reception". If you got the OTA update to 2.1-update1, then you have the latest "official" Radio. I wouldn't bother flashing the unreleased version as there's zero benefit and, as I said earlier, there's probably a reason why HTC/Google didn't release it OTA.
Also, since you're admittedly a noob... I would make sure you research a lot about flashing Radio's prior to even starting the process. A guy just bricked his phone trying to flash to the unreleased Radio because he was in your position..don't be stupid.
I respect uansari1 but on this point I've got to chime in.
I've been running the stock ROM, flashed the OTA ERE27 update and had worse performance from my radio and data connection. More times then not I found the N1 sitting in Edge and even GPRS mode.
So.... I unlocked the bootloader (voiding my warranty), loaded RA's recovery image, ran nandriod and did a backup, rooted the phone and loaded the new radio rom. Post #21 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632282&page=3
Since then I've noticed the phone staying in 3G way more than before and even better battery performance.
Still using the stock ROM.
As with any flashing READ READ READ and understand what's happening before you decide to jump into the deep end.....
duplicate post - my bad. Removed.

Why doesn't the CDMA Hero need certain radios to run ROMs?

Well I've just been wondering... why do other phones (usually GSM) need specific radios flashed to them in order for some ROMs to work? What's so special about our phone where we can flash any radio, and any ROM will work with it? I'm just curious about this
I have always wondered this as well *scratches head* I was helping a friend root a tmo g2 and certain roms could only be on certain radios as you said and when I had a tmo tp2 it was the same way. Its only with GSM so I'm glad to have cdma network cause that's too much radio flashing for me.

AT&T Nexus One and custom roms

I've been hesitant to try my hand at flashing ROMs because I'm in Australia using an AT&T variant N1, my carrier uses 850Mhz as the 3G frequency (Telstra) which is same as AT&T.
I've read up on the general flashing instructions for cyanogen and feel comfortable to proceed (I have basic linux knowledge as well), but only sticking point is I'm a bit unclear as to whether there is any difference for me, being the 850 variant.
My best guess is that its the same process, same files/build etc., just don't flash the radio? Is that correct? Can someone whose done it on AT&T variant confirm? THat would be really really good
I'm going to follow the instructions here, on a side note, is amon or clockwork the better option?
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
There is absolutely no difference for you.
Radio frequencies aren't dependent on baseband (radio) build, they're a function of HW. You can flash everything, radios included.
Read the Wiki.
Yep, go right ahead and do whatever you want.
I've hacked mine to hell and back with no issues
ROMs, no, no difference. Basebands and radios are a bit of a different story, though...

They aren't in Nexus, and they are exactly the same thing generally. Baseband = radio = SW that runs on baseband CPU.
OK thanks all
do I NEED to flash the radio i.e. can I get away with not updating the radio component? Just super cautious as I don't want to be in the hunt for a replacement in case of bricking, with all the dual cores just round the corner as wlel

If your radio is 4.06 or above, you don't need to flash it. If not - you do.
I'm on an att n1 on rogers and I've flashed everything from roms to radios and never had a problem that a lil nandroid couldn't fix.

Korean radio is fine. 5.08 was present on all the current Nexus One replacement phones, and 5.12 is present on Vodafone ones.
Any specific reason why you're avoiding it?

I mean why the 'korean' in it's name otherwise?

It's called the Korean one because it first came about in a KT OTA. It's fine to use on any N1.
You don't have to worry at all about flashing radios. All the frequencies work with all radios. Note that you need at least 5.08 radio on cyanogen to be able to use the 720p video camera.

2.3 out doh
Gah unfortunately now wiser to wait for stock 2.3 OTA then Cyanogen to stabilise.... though having said that at least now I've got the answer to my original question, thanks again all.
Might just get me over the hump until I can get a non bootloader locked, non motoblur polluted dual core droid.

[Q] Going to get my Developer Edition this week..what to do?

All,
Going to be getting my new Developer Edition this week and wondering if I should root and install a ROM on it? I'm on the S3 right now and have been a crack flasher throughout all my Android phones...I have slowed down a bit over the years due to being tired of flashing and troubleshooting etc..
Though I just started checking out the Development section in this forum, just wondering did you guys automatically rooted and install new rom when you got it or still on stock and let it be?
Just want some opinions on the matter. I'm leaning towards leaving it stock for the time being and maybe flashing a new rom later. Does the current Roms add that much enhancements to the phone?
Thanks for all opinion.
Almost every ROM for the One that I've seen has either been a variation of Sense, or a dump off from a Google Edition. I would root your device for the apps that need the permissions ( i.e Titanium backup) but wait for the ROMs, unless you really want to try out Sense.
I'm rooted, but I still choose to use Sense as my daily driver. It has a refreshing UI, and its not all that intrusive compared to earlier versions of it.
Hope this helps!

Ah yes, of course! Is the Dev Edition known for stuck pixels?
One last thing, is the Developer Edition already S-Off or do I need to do that also?
You will need to S-OFF. It only comes unlocked (bootloader). As for stuck pixel, it isn't any more prevalent in the Developer line than others. The HTC LCD supplier has kinda 50/50 in terms of having stuck pixels. At least that's what the xda poll indicates.
Ok, one last thing I promise.....Anything special I need to do in regards to APN's, radios etc...when I set up a new account with At&t? I'm coming from Verizon and porting over my number to At&t. Once I get my phone, I'm just gonna go to At&t, get the plan I want, get an LTE sim and pop it in.
I've read people talking of signal stregth, APN's, radios etc...Do I need to update anything or flash anything?
How are radios updated anyways with the Dev Edition?

Developer edition is pretty much identical to the AT&T version. You shouldn't need to update anything to get it running.

[Q] Android Revolution HTC One M8 Sprint?

Has anyone had success flashing Android Revolution for the new HTC ONE M8 but it never reboots. Just jumps back to the fastboot.
It allows me to install my back up but according to the Rom, it is good for all M8's including Sprint but no such luck for me,
The install went perfect save Aroma frustration but I got thru that a couple of times , the message said it was successful but would never reboot.
Even tried to install SuperSU that I am already using but still no luck.
Anyway,
If any Sprint users have any tips, please let me know.
Thanks for your time!

Don't flash ROMs not meant for your phone. You could bork it. To my knowledge, the mount points are not the same and it's a risk flashing. Without an RUU yet, you could potentially be in some trouble if things don't go well

Thank you! I did tweet with Mike1986 when I first had trouble, I did say I was trying on Sprint since it said '" All M8 Models in his post and he did not say it was not Sprint Compatible so I assumed it was. All he asked was if I had Sprint boot.img on my phone. I am not sure what that meant and after searching the net and XDA, still don't know and said I would try other sources for help.
It does seem not seem to work on Sprint, I am almost positive I followed all of the steps, unless there is something completely different from M7 Flashing that I am not aware of. Rooting worked like a charm but as I said before, and thank fully so, after flashing, the phone reboots right back to the fastboot.
It does give you a scare at first as it goes completely dead for a few minutes but then finally shows up in Fastboot and can be wiped and the backup can be applied.
I'll keep looking around for info!
Well, enough said for sure.
Thanks all for your input!

sorry if i sounded harsh and or like a *****, but you have to read thru a thread before flashing any rom, example is like on badseed rom, i'm pretty sure the ack button doesnt work and i found that out by reading the thread, you risk bricking ur fone by blindly flashing :-/

I completely understand, although I read thru that Rom page at least 4 times before flashing and found no indication it was an International Version or as mike1986 usually says, " apart from Sprint" . Even after I spoke with mike1986, still no indication this would not work on Sprint. Hopefully others will find this thread before trying although I had really no trouble recovering from it. Lucky for that I guess. Anyway, thank you for your input as well. Have a great rest of your day!
hi,
i also tried flashing ARHD with my sprint m8. both v22 and 22.1, i also get a black screen, if i reboot, it goes straight to the bootloader.
i too, thought it would work since it says all variants, and was not specified that SPRINT is not supported. i even asked, and somebody answered that it is.
even anybody had success installing ARHD on a sprint m8, please share what you did to make it work
thanks
Compatibility is only available through 4.4.3 base or 11.X. 4.4.4 hasn't been built for Verizon or sprint yet, it's possible to boot at 4.4.4 but you'll get no signal
