If so then why are you not using it? Where is the dl link? the latest post in the development section states that spacemoose had deleted everything from github site. I went to the github site and I have no idea what the files there are for....

This is not true, I have been following the honeycomb port since spacemoose first posted about it, there is no 3.2 port for the gtab7. As far as I've researched another Dev has stated that spacemoose has closed all threads retaining to hc has abandoned the project and past it on the the same Dev that claimed the abandoning. The same dev also states that since they do not own a gsm model they will not be finishing the gsm version but they will be slowly working on the unfinished cdma version. If this is incorrect please let me know, I want hc on my tab just as much aa the next person. I was using alpha 2.5 but too many broken things so I flashed to gb.

Well i think he abondoned it already. He keep on posting the development every week and then what? Nothings happen...

The project has been abandoned. The dev who said they may continue doesn't really seem interested in HC so it will likely never get finished now.

I think he should post here at xda the truth if he abondoned it already because a lot of us are waiting for the honeycomb project...

An sdk port would never be "finished". If you want honeycomb, bug Samsung or buy a new device.

Exactly, we'll have to wait for a 3.2 port from the 7.7 or other device if it is ever released. Unless Google decides to release the full source code for HC

I don't think any version of honeycomb will have voice capabilities. due to the fact that HC is for tablets only. And since the 7.7 isnt out yet I don't think anyone can verify what it will and won't have from the factory besides speculation. Anything can change before they release the device. But my speculation is that the phone.apk will be left out, but sms should be possible.

Android 2.4 for Galaxy Tab GT-P1000

Guys did you hear about android 2.4 for Tab? Is this true? Share your knowledge guys. Thanks...
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
There is no 2.4 android version announced. The next version is Ice cream sandwich, which will probably have another number, like Android 4. (2.x is smartphone only (at least in google's mind), 3.x is tab only, 4 or another number will be for smartphone/tab merge.)
The next gingerbread version is 2.3.4 already released. Nothing is announced by samsung for a new firmware release yet.
Wont happen until a dev from here does it..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
2.4 doesn't exist and never will
the unifying version of android is ice-cream sandwich which has the designation 3.1
EDIT: this is also not a thread appropriate for the dev section, take this kind of thread to general

3.1 is the latest update to Honeycomb, the tablet-only OS. It's already out apparently. The "unifying" OS update Ice Cream Sandwich was always rumoured to be 2.4, though it could be 4.0 for all we know (or care). Agree though, this thread should be moved to Q/A.

Anyway, you cant say there wont be a 2.4 when you have no idea what the next phone firmware number will be. And as Athiest said, 3.1 is still Honeycomb so maybe you should use Google before you try and make a point.
@OP We probably wont see 2.3.4 for our Tabs unless Tech merges it into his CM7 port. I doubt we'll get any more major updates from Samsung any time soon, or at all.

Cm7 is 2.3.4
I also doubt anymore updates.
I allways say I think samsungs stance on the 7 inch tab is: ' take this horribly written adaptation of gingerbread and be happy some of you got any update.. Honeycomb? You want sweet ass new HC? HA! Tell ya what. Buy our new sweet ass device. We promise to adapt HC just as horribly as FROYO and GINGERBREAD. Oh, and have XDA have to step in and clean up after us. Plus we promise to rip apart the tabs gutts, and only give some countries full hardware. Piss off.'
You guys know that most 7' tabs are missing hardware, right? There are three versions with digital and analog tv's!

Ics sdk port

I'm seeing a lot of devices getting ics sdk ports or atleast starting to(in pre alpha stage) I was wondering if anyone wanted to attempt that on our d3s because it doesn't look like we're getting cm9 soon because were not even officially supported for cm7.

The Nexus will be out before the month's end, and the source code will drop in the following 2-4 weeks. If someone built it from SDK, they'd have to start it all over again after the source drops.
ya but that means source wont drop till xmas and then by the time someone has a working build moto will be releasing there official build so it doesnt really do anything for us

It might be a fun exercise, and fun to play around with, but sdk ports are buggy and wont have the framework that really makes up ICS. It would basically GB + some ICS features/apps, since all we have access to is some apps and what they ask for

I hope no one is wasting time working on a port from a Software Development Kit (SDK) emulator "ROM" that is incomplete and lacking. SDK's are for app developers to test, not for ROMs to be be made.
Once the source hits....you'll have a better chance of getting ICS, AND a much better and complete ROM.
I really hope no one is working on an SDK port "ROM" for the D3.

Just to be clear, I'm not working on an ICS port from the SDK. Sorry :/
While I applaud jellydroid13's enthusiasm, there is still alot of work to be done getting the D3 to be more AOSP friendly. This includes working on getting the audio drivers working correctly, BT updated, overlays which don't have PBUNDERUN events every 30 seconds, camera routines to iron out, etc.
Fixing these issues in Gingerbread where our kernel matches up with the source, gives us a better chance at then migrating working source to a true ICS port later.
There is also a fairly sizable kernel hurdle to jump as well.
Just my 2-cents.

Agreed! I'm sure CM7 would have had been fully functional by now if Hash or another Dev had decided to finish it. Here's another scary thought, I read that Google is supposed to be releasing Jelly Bean (Android 5.0) in the second quarter of this year. If this is true, there would be a new OS before even a hand full of devices are even running ICS.
Yep, it would be finished, and we all would be begging for him to start to work on a ICS build.
CM7 is nice, but CM9 is nicer
Also, I'm starting to think Hash is Legion, for he is many (jk)

If that were to really happen I have a feeling there would be a lot of unhappy Galaxy Nexus owners...
^^I agree. There was so much hype surrounding the 4.0 OS that it seems both doubtful and (if true) disappointing that Google would be too shortsighted/trigger-happy, to actually let the OS mature a bit first, before pumping out another release. I've owned Android devices for better or worse, since the OG Droid, and I have to say that the evolution of the platform has been staggering...but I'm at a loss as to how the OS could really get SIGNIFICANTLY better than this. It's just my opinion, but I think 4.x is close to perfect...in the past, I could see clearly, how Eclair, Froyo, or GB could be improved, but ICS really has it all. I just think it would be terribly irresponsible of both Google and manufacturers, to support the release of a new OS this soon...

^^I agree. There was so much hype surrounding the 4.0 OS that it seems both doubtful and (if true) disappointing that Google would be too shortsighted/trigger-happy, to actually let the OS mature a bit first, before pumping out another release. From what I read, the biggest new features are supposed to be Android's own version of NFC and compatibility with netbooks, laptops, desktops..... I agree it is too early for another release, but perhaps the extra features that are supposed to be included are too significant to just be an update to say 4.05.

NEW Project!

OK folks, we have a new project:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/android-building/_F67iLDcVzQ
PA and AOKP test builds from the new full-time build box also in verification.
If they're good they'll be posted tonight.

To put it in simple terms, this means that there's a greater chance of stable AOKP and PA ROMs for our device.

If this is what I think it is, a port of the recently released Google vanilla s4, then this should be interesting. Granted, there are proprietary drivers and software for touchwiz devices, it might not be as exciting or feature laden as tw, but it is certainly something different. No, I was too lazy to read the link for clarification.

Thanks for making it clean and simple

Actually, they're two separate things.
I just got the new build box up and running so first order of business was making sure PA and AOKP build properly.
Those builds got posted this morning.
Next I'll be working on the Google Edition stuff to see if we can't make a pure AOSP ROM.
Also curious at the kernel to see how it stacks up versus what CM is already using.

Nice! I wasn't sure if you were going to take over the Google Edition items as well. Thanks again for all that you do!

Garwin. Not sure if you saw but it looks like the international version has a working GE rom. Not sure if that will help you or not.

Like anything else I work on, too many factors and especially this one needs to be looked at carefully.
For example, the file released by JBQ looks awfully similar to what Samsung OSRC normally releases.
But when I asked before - well, can we build with that? - the answer was no.
Reason being we need things like the proprietary binaries that are up to Samsung to release.
I'm going to start by what JBQ said to do:
1) Make a clean AOSP repo
2) Drop their changes on top of that repo.
3) Add kernel - which I still want to compare to the source used in CM.
Anything else I may use what was pulled for CM (such as vendor blobs) to fill in the gaps.
We'll see if this plan of attack works or not.

I saw the post and it seems questionable if the build works. OP says it does but no one else has verified.

What post in particular? I tried a GE rom on my Sprint S4 with some success (mostly everything but data seemed to work fine). Probably not much help though I guess.

Can you link to thread? Looked quickly but if I'll be happy to check again shortly. Data may just be a switch of blobs and apns-conf.xml

I ended up trying it yesterday and data indeed does not work. I think some people are getting confused because 1x data still works but 3g does not work even after using the APN Backup and Restore app and KT AOSP Kernel.
Your supposed to use the kt touchwiz kernel according to sources the kernel is built from touchwiz based kernel BC its touchwiz coded with Google overlay

Oh....well that explains things. Still seems like no one is getting data to work though unfortunately.
