[Q] JVS wifi issue - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, any ideas on how to fix the frequent wifi disconnecting issue in JVS? I tried changing wifi driver, changing bootloader, nothing seems to be working. On other base such as JVR and JVQ, I don't seems to be facing this. So it's definitely JVS, and I also seen people who's facing the same issue as me. So any helps on how to fix this is greatly appreciated .

install jvp bootloaders.

wtf does a bootloader have to do with wifi issues?
clear the address reservations or try a different encryption method

Clear address reservations? how? different encryption method on the router or the phone? hope u can elaborate for me .

Most users reported the issues were gone when they removed address reservation for their phone on the router. I assume you don't have one then. What method of security for your wifi network do you use ? WEP? WPA2 ?

There is a problem with kernels based on older versions than JVS. If you use stock kernel or DarkCore or any other JVS based kernel the Wifi problem should be solved.

Is there any other way of solving this problem. Because I am gonna need wifi for public AP at least.
I didn't have any custom kernel just stock JVS odex, (repartition checked in odin with 512 pit) and still had that problem.
I moved to JVR because of this...

I didn't notice these problems on MIUI 1.9.23, maybe it's fixed there or did anyone noticed the wifi issues on MIUI?

I think the problem occurs on some devices on others don't. Similar as Phone FC bug. Many people had it, me personally never...

After reading a lot of post looking for a solution my conclusion today is that there is NO FIX for WIFI BUG on JVS today.
As thsi apperas to be quite random phenomena, some people just flash a kernel, rom bootloader,etc...fix their problem and think they have foud THE solution, but unfortunately there is no fix that works always
I hope, wish, desire somebody probe me wrong

Well i found out that everthing is working fine at my girlfriends wifi but at home there are the wifi issues. So I think it's something in the wifi, which the phone isn't able to handle with.

Hi, where did you find the CDC Ethernet Control Model(ECM) driver?

Not able to connect to secured wifi networks on CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies

I have some wifi issues on CM10.1. I cant seem to connect to my home network. When i type in the WPA key and press connect the network only gets saved and that's it. Connecting to an unsecured network works fine though. I tried connecting to a friends router but still the same problem.
This doesn't happen on sense based roms.
Any more users experiencing this ? Suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see when you originally posted. Sorry for jumping the gun.
To your question though, have you tried with a different AOSP-based kernel? Also a nightly is an experimental build therefore it stands to reason that they might have broken WiFi in the nightly you're using and it'll be fixed in the next round. This is a risk you run with nightly builds.

I tried different nightly's. All the same problems with wifi. But it seems im the only one. I also tried P.A.C. rom, AOKP 4.2.2 and Liquid-JB . Still the same issue.
On your suggestion i tried a different kernels.Thoravukk][AOSP][1-JUNE and teaMsevenAOSP_v12r6|VC didnt make any difference.
I found the problem. It seems its router related. I changed the wifi channel settings from manually to automatic and the problem was solved. Very strange. ( Arcadyan VGV7519)

[Q] [i9001] Wifi problems after flashing KKernel

Hello!
I flashed a new kernel for my smoothie rom. And when i go to the wifi settings on/off button is locked on. In wifi settings there is only a text "Starting WIFI".
I think it's not working because the kernel has lowered wifi voltage.
Does anybody else have same problem?
I'll be very grateful if someone would find a fix for this problem.
:good:
Only an idea:
Did you a restart of your device (after flashing kernel)???

I flashed Phenom Kernel v6.1 for 4.3, and wifi is not working anymore. Someone had the same problem there, I don't know how to change my router's channels. Any other ideas?
Ps. I would like to post to dev page, where this kernel is but I can't do that because I don't have over 10 posts in this forum. Isn't that pretty stupid?

I have this problem too.
I installed the M.O.W ROM 4.3 with CWM 6.0.4.

Is WiFi problem from kernel or ROM?

Is wifi kernel or rom related?
It's kernel related. What's the problem?

[Q] 4.2.2 breaks Wi-Fi

So after having a lot of troubles with 4.3.x on this phone I decided to go back to 4.2.2 until 4.4 is finally stable for us;
Only problem is, whenever I flash any kind of 4.2.2 ROM, my phone decides to get stuck on "Obtaining IP Address..." when trying to log in to my Wi-Fi, while it works perfectly after flashing 4.3 again.
I also tried multiple different Kernels but no difference at all.
Anyone got any idea what might be causing this? I really want to go back to 4.2.2 since on 4.3 I get problems like my phone taking ages to wake up from stand-by or not waking up at all and having immense battery drain caused by wlan_rx_wake.
I'm thankful for any help.

sorry, misread ><
could it be a problem with your home network? can you try another network around you?
i had this issue with custom 4.1.2 roms such as zaiben, but haven't read that anyone had this issue on any 4.2.2 roms.
Some roms cant connect to the WEP networks (or other ones i forgot witch is exactly ) Try changing your network securiti.

Liquidsmooth was actually the first one I tried, followed by XenonHD, CARBON, various CM 10.1 releases and ReVolt, all with the same issue.

Alright, I'll try MIUI, also I always format /data, cache and dalvik.
There is no option in my recovery to format system but it says it does that automatically, when flashing a new ROM
MIUI Download will take about 20 minutes since their servers severely cripple download speeds.
In CWM in mount and storage you have format /system idk what recovery you are using.

Please do note that I greatly appreciate you trying to help me. <3
MIUI also fails at getting an IP address.
So problem must be with your rooter then. Can you restart it and change password ? BTW does your password contains only numbers or it also contains letters ? This is maybe strange but my sisters prone wont connect to our rooter if we set pass just numbers idk why.

How can the problem be with my router when the same problem appears when connecting to a different AP, but also doesn't appear when I'm on 4.3?
I'm sorry but that makes absolutely no sense.
My password is letters and numbers.
Your best bet is most likely to re-stock and start all over again from scratch
flash a kdz, then flash a recovery, flash your desired ROM and then see what wifi will tell you
Also in general, re-stocking every now and then is not the worst idea, it can help to solve quite some problems

Thanks, I'll try that; If it doesn't work I'll just have to go back to 4.3 and deal with the other problems.
Well something will work since it is not hardwer problem.I just reflashed mine slimbean rom to see if wifi is working and everything is fine...Tryed on liquid and now will flesh MIUI to check it too.
