You jelly.
Nah I tried it and my hspa speeds were horrible...
I emailed newtoroot and he didn't respond
---------- Post added at 07:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:38 PM ----------
Hey since you're Canadian too, are your speeds ok? Mine wasn't even useable.
I checked the apn settings. I thought maybe the ROM was just set up for euro freqs
My speeds are great however I did flash a new radio a while back. This isn't "mysense 3.5" this came out last night. It's stupid fast I got 4th best IncS bench marks in the world at 1708 MHz

Hi, I'm Just doing some test's on kernel. I am running Franco Kernel M1. I get about 4-5 hours of screen time, and when the phone is idleing it barley drains any battery. Here are my Values. Post your values and battery life, and name which kernel you have
384 Mhz - 725mV
486 MHz - 750 mV
594 MHz - 775 mV
702 MHz - 800 mV
1026 MHz - 900mV
1188 MHz - 975 mv
1350 MHz - 1000mV
1512 Mhz - 1025 mV
Are you sure you are not getting 11 hours SCREEN ON time?

Well I just flashed it new ( about 2 days now) I get various readings every day
I'm using PA and Franco's r111 kernel. I am UV 150mv and get about 5-6 SOT all the time. I'm mostly on WiFi and use data occasionally during classes.
Its crazy how you get 6+ SOT. Do you use your phone or just stare at it?

Nice thread, I'm currently running stock and have been curious on which kernel to run. I see a lot of people mentioning Franco, I suppose I'll give it a shot.
Using Franco Kernel 117 and PA rom...Very happy with everything, especially battery life and speed.
Matr1x. Smooth even at 700 MHz and has no pointless UV restriction.

So as i see after using a phone with one kernel only with o/c and nothing more i will flash franco!!
Sent from my U8800Pro using xda app-developers app
I don't have data . When I'm not using WiFi I usually turn it off
Sent from my Nexus 4
Tried 'em all, but stick with Matr1x.

Tried them all found matrix 8oc to work for me but trying this angelakernal motley kernel. So far same or better then matrix for me on aosp.No under clocking no micro stutters and really good battery so far...

I think i have to do much of a tests cause im used to laggy sh1tty performance on my old device and it will be dificult to notice lags when you have lag everywhere!!
whatever you do, dont flash trinity kernel. it lacks buzzwords, and you might enjoy it. and we cant have that

7-9Hrs SOT is just too much..
Hmmm... I just got my Nexus 4 a couple of days ago and was hoping that this thread would provide a definitive answer as to which kernel was the best. I should have known better.
Looks like I've got some experimenting to do. I'll probably start with the Franco Kernel as it seems to be the most popular.

theres no such thing as best kernel. theres only what is best for your needs and for your device. thats why these threads arent allowed. you have to experiment and find whats best for you.
I agree with Simms . There really isn't a best kernel because some people favor performance over battery, and remember every device is acts differently

We are still looking forward to seeing those 9 hours screen time.
Hey guys,
Quick question for you all. I was thinking this morning about overclocking and its advantages/disadvantages
and one question in particular erked me.
Say for instance there are two Moto G 2014s. A and B.
Moto A:
@1200mhz
@1200mv
and Moto B:
@1400mhz
@1200mv
Will the battery life be the same as they are at the same MV or will the clock speed effect battery life anyway?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.
good question....
Not know... in theory no, but will be more hot, that hot may cause more energy consumption.
And probable lag making the cpu throttle down to stay under CPU max temp threshold, under heavy use.
Running games with the CPU @1,2 already make it be very hot @1,4 will be even hotter.
If you test let us know... will try to learn about it, if i find something let you know. :good:
---------- Post added at 07:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:32 PM ----------
look like yes see here
In my opinion even with the same voltage level, the energy consumption will increase a bit. Higher power means more hot => more energy consumption.

Thanks for your reply. I do not have a moto g 2nd gen yet but I am getting one on friday. I will be sure to do some testing indeed.
it seems you might be right though. Increasing the clockspeed will increase heat therfore decreasing battery.
So XDA user,
Here is my story ....
After i receive the device I bricked it yeah..... And I managed to unbrick the device again. But then I had a problem with storage showing only 32gb that I fixed tho just redone the unbrick guide and not booting into system and flash all stuff.
So but now the big problem is I don't know if this heating is normal it happen on scrolling (g+...) and loading times when app launches or background processes. I tried 5 custom Roms to compare and I tested it on stock software (6.01 and 7.0) now I am running stock oos 7.0. And this are my sensor temp I get.
Is this NORMAL or is my device in the hardware way defect.
It would be cool if users can compare the values and show me those.
I am measure it in that way put g+ and cpuz in recents and scrolling in g+ fast and then slow again and so on switching fast to cpuz and then make fast and screenshot.
The values are not constant on the high values it's more like they jumping hard between 45-79 c
Now i even reached while scrolling fast in g+ because i searched for a thread this temp ! 90c....
This is not at all normal. My temp max goes to 45 while gaming.
Try flash the stock ROM. And don't use phone for an hour or so and then see.

Yes phone is hot I can not place next to my ear .
What are you guys opting to do in regards to these settings? I'm trying out the full power of the phone so I'm trying out running performance mode and the highest resolution screen settings. Not sure how battery will react - we'll see.
Any thoughts on how much impact it has running these settings vs. not?
I ran yesterday at Max screen resolution but not full brightness and battery did not do to bad about 5 1/2 hours of SOT
---------- Post added at 07:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:55 PM ----------
I mean what's the point in having a phone with great resolution if you're not going to use it?
Running my phone at max resolution and the battery lasts me all day. I usually go with optimized performance because the phone's been chewing up everything I've thrown at it and I haven't seen the need for a boost yet.

One reason that I can think of - not everything on the phone needs that amazing resolution, so why not save some battery life when the resolution is not needed?
I think Tasker may be useful here. I'm guessing it could switch modes and resolutions on an app by app basis. I'll start tinkering.
Which nougat and oreo ROM gave you longer SOT?
I've just only recently obtained the Nexus 6 and have only had time to flash one Rom but I can honestly say without a doubt that It is the best AOSP based experience I have ever had. Everything works, the performance Is excellent, and SOT is pretty good. About 4 - 5 hours doing moderately intensive things like playing games. The Rom is AOSiP by the way. Oh I also hear that using It with the Elemental X Kernel with stock values makes It even better! Haven't tried it yet but I sure will soon enough.

Try using this guide as well If you want to increase SOT time. Experiment and what not. https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557
