I had stock kernel and 2.3.5 gingerdx, i unlocked my bootloader with seetoolsmc because i had my phone unlocked by se tool box and flashed kernel v003 and my phone didint want to start after gingerdx logo. Ok with PCC i restored to stock and my network was locekd again and my wi fi did not respond, i tried 100 ways and now when i start my phone without SIM card it's working, but when i put the SIM card in i enter my SIM pin and then the phone wont load anythinig, just the up tab and a blue theme Help?! I flashed stock kernel, 2.1 E15i_X8i_2.1.1.A.0.6_Baseband_015.7z and software but nothing
1. Flash stock kernel
2. Use SEUS to load stock rom
3. boot phone and wait
Then ur ready to go again:
1. root
2. flash new kernel
3. flash new rom
Read about GDX - it have some wifi issues..
I have FXP kernel+rom and no troubles.

Friend wanted me to mod his phone and i did open the bootloader to flash custom kernel but when i turned the phone off to flash kernel the phone did`t turn on to flash mode. And yeahh now it`s broken. Any suggestions how to fix it? I opened the bootloader with unlock package from fxp rom zip. And the phone had stock rom.
actually, quite thankful and grateful for the advice for unlocking bootloader with stock ROM.
but however, it's custom kernel turn. i want to flash nAa latest kernel and all went well until when i unplug for it stated 'disconnected (my phone is still connected)'.
but then i stuck at flash / recovery (not the cwm or xrecovery), this had finally pushed me back to stock rom again ...
im using x8 and i want to flash nAa for other roms ... but how?
when i connected my phone during the 'stuck', i can see that the kernel is now the custom kernel, the only problem is that i can boot it to cwm as well as system for further adjustment ...

As a foreword: nAa's kernel is meant to be used with nAa's MiniCM7 (v2.1.9 at the time of writing) ROM - chances are the kernel won't work with other ROMs NOT based on MiniCM7!
About the "how to flash" ...
(I assume you already got the Android drivers installed)
- Download Flashtool and install it.
- Download the FTF file of nAa's kernel and put it into the "Firmwares" folder in the Flashtool directory.
- Start Flashtool
- Select "Flash"
- Choose the Kernel
- Now do as Flashtool asks you to:
1. Turn the phone OFF
2. Insert the USB cable into JUST your phone (DO NOT connect to the computer yet!)
3. Press the BACK key and KEEP IT PRESSED
4. Connect the other side of the USB cable to your computer
5. In case Windows says something about installing a driver let it do its job.
6. Once the flash progess started you can release the back key.
- As soon as the kernel has been flashed disconnect the phone from the computer
- Turn it on
- Keep on pressing the back key to get into CWM (yes, it's the back key on nAa)
- Flash MiniCM7
- Full Wipe
- Reboot
thanks but ...
thanks for ur great info, but after flashing nAa kernel,
the SE logo had turn to a semi-white but not really obvious black screen, and im unable to get to recovery, or i need to install minicm first before flashing nAa kernel?
No, You don't have to install ROM first While the new logo appears press back button rapidly and You will get into CWM There You can do a backup of Your current ROM, do a full wipe and install new ROM
thanks and ...
thanks for answering, i couldnt get the SE logo to show up too, just semi-white black screen and no further changes till i removed battery.
i had tried many times and the results were a despair to me
Hi i am using x8 and i unlocked the bootlaoder put thealfs kernel butafter that stock rom cant load and icant upload my gingerdx rom any ideas how to fix ?
One more thing after i unlocked the Bl before i put alfs kernel i had no signal
Relock your bootloader and try unlocking again with Setool2. That should give you signal back but not sure as I can't really remember .
You should have flashed a custom before flashing a kernel. Go into recovery by pressing back button on logo, go down to mounts and storage then mount USB. Then copy the rom over.
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using xda premium
new problem
new problem now restored the stock kernel uploaded the gingerdx than i put the new kernel (alfs08 no_fps_cap) and its stuck on infinity loop and GingerDX logo ..... I tried to wipe the cache from xrecovery but still the same

I will be really glad if someone can help i managed to put new kernel , rom and now i am stuck with infinity boot loop :X:X:X:
Try install back the stock 2.1 eclair with stock kernel and do everything again, use SEUS.
new problem now i restored the bootloader relocked it now ito nly vibrates and nothing happens it tursn off and i can enter in flash mode only. But i cant restore stock kernel icant do anything after i relocked the bootloader
EDIT:
I restored flash kernel but i want new kernel adn when i unlock bootloader there is nos ignal :X:X:
That's not a surprise. Since Alfs has a built-in recovery You should enter to it, then do wipe data / factory reset and then flash ROM using install zip from sd card. Because You had installed ROM before and didn't wipe data - that's why it stuck and it's bootlooping.

New problem mate when i unlock the bootloader i have no signal i put alfs kernel gingerdx runs normally but no signal . I relock the bootloader and than the phone cant boot and i must restore the old kernel:X
Did You check what type of Simlock Certificate is in Your x8 using s1tool? Cause there shouldn't be any problem with signal when it's SEMC... I suppose it's "not recognized simlock certificate" in Your case.
did you try unlock with flashtools? i read somewhere that some people with your same problem works fine with flashtools
I want to install CyanogenMod 7.1 on my X8 but am a little unsure. I have some questions...
i) Do I have to unlock the bootloader?
ii) Which CyanogenMod firmware is the best/most popular (pls give link)?
iii) In order to install the CM firmware are these the only steps I need to follow...
"1. Be sure to backup all your current data such as apps, contacts, messages etc before installing a custom ROM.
2. Transfer all the zip files needed to make the ROM work and the ROM itself on your SD card. We do this now because stock ROM won't boot up with a custom kernel.
3. Choose your kernel, download it and put the .ftf file in the "Firmwares" folder of Flashtool.
4. Open Flashtool.
5. Press the flash button. Make sure "flash mode" is selected and press OK.
6. Select the kernel you want to install and press OK.
7. Shut down your phone While holding the back button. Insert the USB cable.
8. Wait till the process has finished and remove the USB cable.
9. Boot up your phone and as soon as the kernel logo appears, start pressing the back button continuously multiple times till you get to CWM recovery. Now its time to flash the ROM.
10. Follow the instructions on the ROM's thread on how to install it.
11. Enjoy!"
Thank-You.
:
Unlocking bootloader only needed if you want to change the stock kernel to custom kernel, just remember that your phone should be rooted before have CWM or xRecovery..
I think GingerDx or GingerXperia is better just googling to find the rom.
MiniCm7 2.2.0 and GingerDx v026 r the best roms for me. I use MiniCm7 2.2.0 cuz it runs on nAa-11 or Alfs-Cm7 v8a and my phones WiFi works best with those kernels...
MiniCM7 2.2.0: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362585
Its all there how to flash that rom...
most popular now are DX and PrimeHD.
I prefer the second because for me its FASTER and today PrimeHD v9 released!!! for all kernels CM 7.2 | Stock / nAa / Alfs

You should considered GingerZakari too. Some experiance members report its a very fast rom
lets get Ice cream sandwich
Thanks for the reply everyone. I attempted to install GingerDX but failed big time! I didn't unlock the bootloader, I dont think I had to. I tried installing it by following the instructions, but I don't know what I did wrong, I failed at everything flashing/installing/wiping memory etc... I (nearly) killed my X8-it would show the Sony Ericsson boot image but not boot up. Luckily I restored the stock 2.1 Android by Sony Update Service.
I really am pissed off from this custom ROM cr*p and have given up .
But thx for helping me anyway.
maybe you cant try some ROMs like miniCM7 or GingerZaraki(use alfs)
after you unlock bootloader, you can flash the kernel to upgrade your phone.
so you must unlock BL to do everything
if you're not unlock BL you may brick your phone
After I failed I tried again , I done more research and found out about GingerDX, it didn't need unlocked bootloader and it worked on the stock kernal while providing GB. I got all the tools I needed and gave it a go; and after a few attempts I got it to work and now I am using it and it runs superbly, much better than (stupid) stock Eclair!
Thanks for the advice, I figured out that to run CM I need unlocked bootloader-I cannot unlock mine because it it network locked and there is no info on unlocking bootloader in service menu. But I am very happy with GingerDX!

maybe if you still confuse with unlock your bootloader, try S1 tool man
read this. .
hope it can help solve your prob!
I got unlock key from my operator and instructions to put in another operator's SIM. I should be asked for unlock key when I turn it on.
But nothing happens when I do that. I guess it is because I don't have original ROM.
I have MiniCM7-2.2.0 and nAa-11 kernel.
Any way to do this without going back to original ROM?
If I have to go backe do I need to revert back ROM and kernel or just one of those?
thank you!
If you try to return, you should flash both stock ROM and kernel (because the stock ROM doesn't work on custom kernel).
go to CWM make backup,on your pc repair phone with PCC than you should be able to unlock your phone.if you successed flash nAa kernel again,go to CWM and restore your backup
