Rooting Moto Fire XT530? - Atrix 4G Android Development

Hello! I know this is not the appropriate forum to place this question but this is the closest one I found where I thought I could get some answers.
I have a Motorola Fire XT530. I have been seraching this forum to find ways to ROOT it in order to install Google Talk with Voice & Video Chat. Can anyone help me with this please?
Is the XT720 similar to XT530? If so, can we use the same methods to ROOT? Please guide my how. This is my 1st Motorola Android Phone and I need any help you can give me.

Wow. Get yourself a iPhone and sell your computer.

No need to be an ass.
There's a One click root for Motorola 2.3.4 Gingerbread devices, if that doesn't work you might have to wait to for a developer to start working on the phone as it was just released like a month ago. Still, most developers work on high end phones and the Fire XT is a low end Android phone, you might be out of luck. Hope something works out for you.

Thanks! I appreciate your help. I will give this a shot and keep this forum posted. A lot of folks in India have bought this phone and are looking for a solution to rooting.

Please don't post in the wrong section, this should go into Q&A if it even belongs here

I feel like a noob, but

Okay, so I've rooted a lot of other phones before and ran roms. But I'm confused as to where to start with the Moto x. I have the AT&T variant, on 4.4. I'm personally really interested in running eclipse. But, I'm not even sure where to start, I'm not rooted, just running the stock ota. Any help would be awesome!
So if you did some searching your questions would be answered. Prior ask this question everyday You need to use SlapMyMoto to root your phone
You need to download rsd lite and the at&t 4.2.2 camera update and flash your phone back to 4.2.2 then follow the guide

I agree...however from experience.. It can be overwhelming.. First and for most OP u need to get back to 4.2.2 use RSD to flash back to 4.2.2 then follow slapmymoto to get root (after being done u can go back to 4.4 currently its what I'm on) as far as safestrap.. Its just a download.. I went directly to there site..hash of coe.. just remember BEFORE U FLASH ECLIPSE...MAKE AN NANDROID BACKUP!!! ( in case of an "oh s*it" moment) if u have questions msg me I'll help with what I can..mom running the "amazing" Verizon...

If he was completely new to Android and rooting, I'd understand how it can be overwhelming. However, the op has a lot of experience.
I always search first then ask questions if I don't understand. I don't understand why people make rooting this phone more difficult and complicated than it really is... ESPECIALLY the dev edition...

Totally agree with that. Guys make posts or start threads asking something that even a quick Google search will give them an answer to in 30 seconds.....But they ask instead and wait hours sometimes for an answer. I occasionally comment to them on this....But usually I just ignore the question. Again, one reason why they wait hours for an answer.
I firmly believe if someone is going to mess around with their expensive phone, they should read read read....and search for answers and eventually learn how all this stuff works. Not just blindly follow what people tell them to do. Not all advice is good advice either. Lol
If you don't learn about this stuff on your own guys....your risk of bricking your device will be much higher.
Lecture over.

It is rather overwhelming when it comes to rooting the Moto X. I can entirely see where the OP is coming from. I have read what I can find on the subject. IT IS OVERWHELMING and YES, CAN VERY WELL BE CONFUSING. I have also rooted many devices. It would be very nice to have an easier root process but we have to work with what we have right now.

i mean. i was "overwhelmed" i guess when i first got into messing around with my phone. But it was only overwhelming because i knew what i wanted to do and wanted to do it as fast as possible without understanding anything. If you just read for 5 hours instead of 30 minutes then it isn't overwhelming at all. It just takes longer than most people expect to understand everything they are doing. So they don't take the time. End up running commands and doing things they think some post told to do somewhere without any idea of what they are doing and boinking their phone up. If instead when they came across something they weren't sure what it was and then took time to read/research what it actually was, they wouldn't feel overwhelmed anymore.
Overwhelming comes from taking tiny tid bits of info and trying to make them make sense together. If you read a ton, its not overwhelming to make large tid bits of information you have accumulated make sense together. IMHO.
I didn't do it the way i just described but i also spent days on end trying to unbrick my phones. I then had to spend countless hours actually understanding what i just did so that i can manually fix them. Rsdlite and toolkits are cool and all, but they allow people with little experience to get into trouble where they need lots of experience to get out of that trouble. Also considering everyone that knows what is going on just says read read read and it isnt overwhelming anymore, they are probably spot on (wwhether they followed that process or not).

New member here ;)

Hi XDA Community.
Just recently bought a (Verizon) Moto X DE and am excited to join the XDA forums. This will be my first Android device (coming from iOS) and look forward to diving into rooting etc.. I've been reading and learning a lot on this forum and others since I received the phone a couple of days ago. I plan on spending a decent amount of time tinkering with my new toy and hopefully can add my experiences to the community for other newcomers like myself going forward.
A few of things I'll be starting off with based on the research I've already done:
1. Unlocking the bootloader on my Moto X DE
2. Rooting on 4.4 KitKat
3. Enabling native tethering
4. Installing Xposed and Gravity Box
5. ????
6. Profit
Let me know if you guys have any general tips or noobie advice. I don't have a ton of free time these days, but I look forward to exploring the forums further and adding any useful input where I can.
Respect.
Well one of the thing's you have to do , to post to development-related forums, is have 10 or more post's.

Welcome! I think you will love this phone. I don't know if your list was intended to be in order, but I suggest installing the Moto Tether module in Xposed to very easily get native tethering. It is far simpler than the other methods floating around out there. Only other advice I can give you (and it looks like you are already well on your way toward doing this) is to read a lot before you ask questions. 9 times out of 10 your question has already been answered somewhere, and the old-timers around here don't like answering the same questions over and over. Enjoy your X!

its not that we dont like answering the same questions over and over it is just we have taken the time to make these threads with all the answer and get them stickyed and no one reads them before posting lol. one of the reason why i havent created the general questions and answers yet. wait for all this 4.4.2 stuff to get over with and see what error we get before i throw it up.
Welcome! I think you'll enjoy yourself here. And the steps you've already done should be enough for a great and interesting experience. You can also try different launchers, like nova, aviate or themer, to customize your experience even more.
Thanks all for the welcomes. Personally, I think the search-and-read-before-posting guidelines apply to most all forums and not just XDA.
Anywho, I appreciate the feed back/advice re: the tethering module on Xposed. Will definitely check that out. Also it's prolly worth mentioning that I primarily use a Mac as my main machine. I'll be happy to post any simple advice I can as I go along. I can easily boot up into Windows if I feel that its too much of a hassle on Mac.
I'm not much for welcoming, but you made a great decision by going developer edition. I would seriously research using fastboot. There are a lot of other tools here, and they all work well enough, but people left and right are bricking their phones using ez mode toolkits cause they don't know how they work and what they are really doing. Hell I'll admit I don't know how they work because they are unnecessary. I've had 3 different 4.4.2 builds from 3 different countries and never came close to bricking. Last night I finally went T-Mobile 4.4.2 I was fully stock, upgraded and rerooted and flashed recovery in 20 mins while playing video games online. Seriously, learn to use fastboot you'll thank me later.
MotoX Developer Edition went from German 4.4.2 to Great Britain 4.4.2 to T-Mobile 4.4.2 no problem. Fastboot FTW!

I'm glad that I always use fastboot. This is probably the best advice you will ever get. Don't rely on tool kits.
Yeah, I manually rooted using fastboot very easily. However I was slowed down a bit trying to use mfastboot at first, which didn't work. Anyone know the difference between these?
Successfully unlocked bootloader, rooted, installed Xposed/all the modules I felt like I needed including MotoX tether and a couple of other neat ones I came across. Currently trying to find a way to access Google Now commands offline, ie: set alarms/reminders without data connection. Thinking that this method should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2571466 but I'm trying to figure out if I can accomplish the same thing with a free Tasker-like app.
It seems like Tasker is an absolute buy must for serious Android users. I'm thinking that I'll eventually have to just shell out the $3 for it...

mfastboot doesn't have the file size limitations that fastboot has. Where did you get your copy of mfastboot from? It is a Motorola utility so it will work fine if you get it from Motorola when you request the factory images.

[Q] Kindel Fire HD 7" 2013

Hey Guys,
i just got a a Kindle Fire HD 7 2013 and was looking around here for roms etc.
I allready found the root thread thats nice. But as I see nobody is working on this device? I am now sure i ready thw whole Forum and didnt found any interessting thing about it. There was one post a few time ago that someone (i dont find the thread) said that Hashcode is working on this device is that truth? Someone has may some infos would be nice. I really hate the FireOS and it would be cool to see may a CM for this.
I am actuelly thinking about to send it back because i dont want this FireOS with all it stuff i dont need and this special offers. If nobody is working on it i going to send in and get my money back (i got it for 70€ that why i "insta" shop it and didnt checked forum before).
One thing more it is really confusing with all this post etc. its hard to see if the post is for the Kindel Fire HD 2012 or 2013 any idea how i can better find posts for the 2013 modell? Most threads are named "Kindel Fire HD 7".
To the end sry for my bad english hope you can understand me
Greetings Abgeloust
Hey!
What we need is time.. actually there are People working on this device. No CM for now, but the plan is to get Google Play fully working (which is already on a good way) and build a rom that is AOSPish-looking.
Someday there will be a CM for this device.. its too low on price to stay unattended.
Actual Development is ongoing in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544736
Have a look at the last few sites to have an idea whats going on.

Thanks for the reply. I have for the past 2 days in a row. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini SM-G730A with a locked bootloader that I need to figure out how to get unlocked so I can change carrier on. I love the phone and want to keep it but my patience has all but worn thin on. I have tried just about everything I can find out on the internet on and nothing has worked so far.

If you searched through some of the threads regarding the SM--G730A you would've learned that it's bootloader is not unlocked yet, and there exists no way to unlock it as of yet. I don't think any active developers have that phone either, and to my knowledge only a recovery has been built for the phone (but you can't flash it because of the locked bootloader), only root has been achieved for your phone.
The phone you have isn't the S3 Mini here (the S3 mini here is the GT-I8190), Samsung's naming conventions are really stupid at times - your phone and the GT-I8190 have nothing in common outside of it's name. I think the GT-I8190 was marketed heavily overseas in Europe and such, whereas your model's only available in the States and Canada.
Thanks for the reply

Just a tip - search through xda to see if there's any active development on your phone, it'll save you a crapload of trouble, and I'd also avoid verizon and at&t phones in general because of their tendency to lock boot-loaders, I notice the google play edition of phones and the t-mobile versions tend to have unlocked boot-loaders and have better support.
Oh and google's dropped the price on the Nexus 5, about $320 usd for the 16gb, if you're interested and have the money.
Thanks Again

Well I know better and it's all started when J3 Emerge came out and I learned root and the possible second shot like mine is that $50 was what it costed then and now same so basically I know many people have my device and the development of it is all good with the things you can always find here at Xda.
